We went from a very solid first effort to this? At the end of book one, the author admitted that he had perhaps risked the balance of power by giving humans a super-power in their mind-control and telepathy and telekinesis powers. And he promised to keep it from getting out of hand, even saying that it wouldn’t be easy to use in combat and admitting that if it were over-used that it would ruin the series.
So what does book two do? It makes the super mind powers that humans have easy to use and easy to learn by almost any human!
It is almost tragic watching characters I was interested in begin to fall apart as they no longer behave reasonably and cannot find many challenges that aren’t easy to overcome with a simple squeeze of an enemy’s artery.
And the plot also begins to have huge holes in it as well, as the super powers are only used when needed and ignored when the author needs to have a problem to overcome.
I only give it two stars for the plot twist and the still interesting characters - mostly. I fear this is the beginning of the end of what could have been a great series.
I will say, if you don’t care about logic - this might be a fun ride for you. It can be fun to root on the human underdogs. But personally I cannot stand books that cheat logic and don’t make any reasonable sense just to tell a story that ends up being unrealistic. Anyone can probably do that, what makes a good read is when the author creates a good universe and then crafts the story within the rules of the universe that he/she/it has created.
This is not that book. Two stars because I’m a nice guy!
Man that was great. Ability and a location to home base from is super cool for Eth. I figured Gleb would pull a backdoor get away, but no way I could figure it would be a tie in to the back story. You write them and I will read them. Thanks for a GoodRead.

This book is the second in the series. It has interesting characters and an intriguing storyline as well as lots of action and suspense. I’m looking forward to reading the next book in this series
