Rite World: Rite of the Warlock #1

The Warlock Lord: Rite of the Warlock

Rate this book
A she-wolf that's been outcasted. A warlock with a dark destiny. And a journey that will unite them--or break them apart.

Luana
I'm the alpha of the Dark Vale pack--or I was, until my crown was taken from me by a bloodthirsty female called Isalia who doesn't deserve to rule. If I want to overthrow her and reclaim my pack, I'm going to need some help. Keeran and I put Queen Thea on her throne, but I'm unsure if the lonely warlock is still alive... or if he's still has feelings for me. I want to search for Keeran, but my wolves come first, and I might be forced to make a choice between them.

Keeran
I never forgot about Luana. I never forgot she had obligations, either. Most of my life has been spent alone, and I plan to keep it that way, until I'm told there's a group of warlocks just like me somewhere out there. If Luana wants me to aide her in bringing down Isalia, she'll have to help me achieve an impossible task: finding the warlock coven, and becoming a legendary Warlock Lord.

But things are complicated. I have a tainted past that still gives me nightmares. Yes, I want Luana. But the closer she gets to me, the more danger she's in...

A kick-ass paranormal romance with bite and intrigue, The Warlock Lord is the perfect balance of seduction, suspense, and surprising secrets. Readers will love this new adult tale of wolves, warlocks, and magic. The first in a brand-new series!

Have you ever finished a book and said, NO WAY can I wait until book 2. Oh this is the book. It kept my interest from start to finish. It ended on a crazy cliffhanger. Oh the wait for an author to finish!

Luana is a werewolf that doesn’t quite fit in her pack. With a twist of surprise attacks, she finds herself on a journey, without her pack. She catches up to a friend along her journey, and eventually the 2 become 4. An unusual travel group they help each other along the way.

Keeran, the warlock, the friend, the undiscovered lover. Luana helps Keeran figure out part of his destiny and figures part of her destiny by accident, in the journey!

Do not delay in reading this book, you will not be sorry!

Juliana Haygert is back with her spinoff series of the Rite World. The Warlock Lord is a continuation/spinoff that continues the story of characters that we met in the vampire series. In this book, Keeran is moving forward from the old life that he was subjected to - being a slave to the witches and used by them when they so desired. The new witch Queen is treating him right and allowing him to do what he wishes. But there is a desire in his heart...to learn what happened to his mother. Add in that he wishes to get away from the witches who resent him and wish to see him banished or dead. Then there is Luana...the young werewolf that we meet...the new alpha of her pack...but not respected. She's determined to do good by her pack, but how can she when so few respect her and then there are those who seek to pressure her into taking a mate..and forcing the mating bond. These two characters are familiar with each other, and Fate is about to throw them back together for a fight that is to come.
The Warlock Lord by Juliana Haygert is one of those books that once you recognize the characters you were rooting for from before you just grab and scurry away to hide and read. This book is fantastic! I had to put this book down twice and I practically howled having to do so. The situations that these characters find themselves in are engaging, and to see things blooming between them makes the heart beat faster. I love Luana's concern for her pack despite how they treat her. I want nothing more than for her to succeed. Keeran is an engaging character, and I love how he develops as a character. At this point, I'd say that he's my favorite so far. He's flawed, but he knows and understands that he's flawed. Now! I'm not saying that Keeran doesn't annoy me at one point either. I narrow my eyes at him when he starts acting like he's going to blindly trust someone simply because they spin a pretty tale. I'm glad he comes to his senses though.
I enjoyed this story so much. My only complaint would have to be how Luana handles certain situations. I understand that she's a werewolf and impulsive and short tempered, but I wanted her to take a moment. I get that what Keeran and Drake did wasn't great, but I don't want her being a petulant child behind what has already happened! It'd be different if everyone could turn back time and do things over again, but I doubt she would have preferred that.
All in all, this book is amazing! For those who don't like cliffhangers...sorry not sorry but this book comes with a big one. My eyes nearly bugged out of my head when the ending came like it did. I almost howled with frustration because I NEED to know what happens next!! I am rating this book 5 out of 5 stars. Fast-paced, engaging, lots of unique characters, and so much more! This book is a MUST read!

Warlock Lord Juliana Hayger

The anticipation I always have when I open a New Book from Juliana is like the first time you step out of a plane being told you've received all the training you need to make it to the ground alive, but your mind is saying are you crazy as someone gives you a helpful push and it takes the first Thousand Feet of free fall before you remember to take a breath. The Warlock Lord was much like that feeling for me. Our Heroin Luana who has become the Alpha of her Werewolf Pack is in an uneasy existence with the members not being used to having a Female Alpha and she is Challenged by a male, and she is victorious, even as she spares his life. She is however challenged by an unexpected Expack member and is defeated by unfair means.

She is forced to leave her Pack in shame to recover and runs into an old friend Keeran the New Warlock, and together have one exciting adventure after the other, "Although mostly deadly ones!" Keeran has received news that his Mother is alive and in hiding from his Father who is also still alive, and is faced with a prophecy that he and Luana, a young Pup from her former Pack, and an unexpected new member they pick up along the journey join forces and set out on.

As always, Juliana has well thought out storylines, humor, and tension, and adventure that makes putting down this book very hard, and waiting for the next edition even harder with her calculated, nerve testing abrupt endings. This is probably my favorite book Juliana has written, and one you should not miss.

Great start of a new series.
Luana was not comfortable with her position of alpha, but losing it, she sees it's much worse now. Keeran found his haven with the witch queen Thea and her family, but a twist of fate sends him on a mission he would have never been able to foresee. Uniting their forces, the two of them go on a journey full of adventure and intense feelings, not knowing whether they come out of the whole situation together and stronger than ever, or will lose it all.
A fast pacing story with gradually building tension and intensity. This paranormal romance plays the readers emotions and rises the heat, binding magic with primal, raw emotions and political machinations. Power play dominates the plot drivers, setting both protagonists into precarious positions. As more secrets are uncovering, the connection between reader and the characters intensifies and brings out more fun from the reading experience.

***I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review***
I read the Rite of the Vampire by Juliana Haygert and I am so happy she decided to write this spin off. I love it and all the characters! This book extends on some of the world we already learned about in the Rite of the Vampire. This was a great new series!
I am looking forward to reading more about Luana and Keeran! They are both drawn to each other. There is so much suspense between these two! For three quarters of the book I was yelling at them to just kiss already! Finally right at the end! Ugh and the mating and then running that Luana did! I was so mad at her! She should have told Keeran!
Juliana... I need the next book in the series now! I have to know what happens! Was it Soren or Isalia that took Luana and Wyatt? OMG I have to know! Or maybe they are conspiring together?

I am so happy to read Keeran & Luana‘s story. That ending though left me wanting to know what happens next so badly haha! I won’t post any spoilers because it’s always best to read to find out what happens yourself. Why ruin all the wonderful surprises to such a great addition to the other stories that this new series adds to. It has everything as the other series which makes it just as awesome! I highly recommend this story and look forward to finding out what happens next in Keeran & Luana‘s story as well as in addition to all the new characters! I need to know more about the Fae! And the warlocks! Not to say that I don’t love Thea and Drake still! And their little daughter oh my god sooo cute! I can’t wait to see what will become of everyone now that there is another highly dangerous foe coming out to play!

My goodness. That was a rollercoaster ride of a story. Talk about ringing out your emotions. An action packed, mystical magical, mysterious adventure. An unlikely connection between a werewolf and a warlock. The sparks literally fly . Both share a journey to discover their destiny.
The twist and turns in this first book keep you guessing, even at the end .
Can’t wait for the next book.
Awesome read.

This book is the first in the series Rite of the Warlock series. It is a spin-off of the Rite of the Vampire series but you don't have to rad Rite of the Vampire to get into this series. That said, if you missed Rite of the Vampire, you need to grab them up now! About this this book, this story of Luana and Keeran, two of my favorites from the Rite of the Vampire series is so compelling. It touches on raw emotion and beats with action. I can't wait to get book 2.

An exciting new series

I really enjoyed this story - though I’ve not read the first series that this new series is part of, it was possible for me to follow along. (I will be reading that one soon! In truth, I think reading the other series in the Rite Universe first will make for a better reading experience)
I enjoyed the characters and the storyline, it will be very interesting to see what happens next. That ending, though.

I voluntarily review an ARC.
This is the first book of a series, the books should be read in order.
Wow! This book hooked me from the first page. The interesting storyline and different characters, love and hate, interracial bonds, betrayal and trust make this book a fabulous start to a series I can hardly wait to be continued.

Great story. Wonderful, conflicted characters. Plenty of action and adventure. Lots of loyalty and betrayal. Beware: this sequence has just begun. I look forward to how it progresses and concludes a few books from now.

I received a copy of this book as a gift. I am leaving my honest review.

Even though this book features two characters from Juliana's Rite of a Vampire series it isn't hard to easily fall into this book as you don't need to read the previous stories to do so! Though, I have yet to finish that series myself so this new series in her Rite world definitely makes me want to go back to it soon!

Anyways, The Warlock Lord is so full of action and twists that I honestly didn't know where their journey was heading! Not only that but the drama between the characters kept me on my toes! And don't even get me started on how the book ended! WTF, Juliana!! If I knew it was going to end like that I would have bought the sequel WAY before I finished this book! Which is why I knew this was going to be a five star read for me and I still think that weeks later after finishing it!

There's just so much goodness within this book that I don't want to spoil anything! Just that if you love paranormal action, romantic drama, and girl power then this is definitely a book for you! And if you just love Juliana's writing and stories, then you should most definitely pick this up! What are you waiting for!

Good book . I couldn't put it down. It was really interesting to read this. It did pull me in and kept me in which I liked. I wasn't drawn to it by the cover but mostly by the blurb. I may end up rereading it again this year. It was so good and a five star book.

The Warlock Lord by Juliana Haygert a five-star read that will thrill you. This is the first novel in the Rite World: Rite of the Warlock series and oh you will adore it. We have met Luana and Keeran the Rite World: Rite of the Vampire series but you don’t need to have read that series’ first, I do not know how I missed the start to this series, its blooming amazing, what a thrilling ride. You won’t know if you are coming or going in the best way possible. Juliana keeps you guessing she has a great talent for giving you just enough to keep you hooked, but not too much that it tells you everything, the will they wont they, who’s the baddie? The talent just keeps you hooked. I am so excited for the rest of this series!!

I have that giddy happy feeling one gets when a favorite author comes out with a really great new series. The author here is Juliana Haygert and the the series is Rite World: Rite of the Warlock of which The Warlock Lord is book 1. And it’s sooooo good. Read the publisher’s blurb. Luana and Kieran’s story is precisely the promised “kick-ass paranormal romance”. It’s also a great adventure with thrills and unexpected twists and turns. Add together a great plot and superb character building (even the characters you want to hate) and tie it all together with top-notch writing. This is the result you get. But for the fact that I’m literally dictating this review to my husband from my hospital bed I could go on and on with praises. The book definitely deserves it. Since I can’t do that I will simply note that the book is most definitely one to read, and it is easy to highly recommend. I’m definitely looking forward to the next book in the series.

4 - 4.5 Stars

The Warlock Lord is the fourth book in the Rite World Universe by Juliana Haygert - which is a captivating, interconnected tapestry of paranormal romance and fantasy adventure. And rather than being a single series, it’s a shared world where multiple storylines - each with its own MCs, conflicts, and romances – all woven together amongst plenty of supernatural intrigue.
What makes this universe stand out is the huge variety of supernatural beings -vampires, witches, shifters, angels, and more – who are all coexisting in a world that feels both magical and dangerous. Ms. Haygert has a knack for blending fast-paced action with plenty of emotional depth, ensuring that battles and betrayals are balanced by heartfelt relationships and the character’s personal growth.
While each series within the universe can be enjoyed on its own, reading them all offers a rewarding sense of continuity and layered worldbuilding.
So, if you enjoy supernatural worlds with high stakes, sizzling romance, and characters you’ll want to follow on any adventure, then this universe is a binge-worthy contender.
Happy Reading…

I entered this series in the middle but had no trouble following. The author does a nice job of giving you details without bogging you down with information.
Luana is a werewolf, the new alpha of the pack. Keeran, is a warlock among witches. Neither of them feels like they are in the right place. When Luana is attached and forced to flee, and Keeran learns of his mother and sets out on a mission to find her, they team up to help each other.

As a reader, I wanted more of the romance. It's a slow burn and could be bothersome at times. Yet, I was rooting for them the whole time. This is great if you like the quest without the romance stuff getting in the way. I wanted to give it five starts but I tripped up on a few errors as I read. I didn't like being taken out of the story. I was lost in the world much of the time.

I loved the blurb, but I have to say, I just didn't care for these characters, so it was hard to feel more than frustrated with their emotional, over-the-top reactions and miscommunication. I noted a few small typos and dropped words, which bothered the nerd in me, but probably would be skipped over by many readers. The Warlock Lord was difficult for me to finish, as I was never invested in the protagonists...but my connection with the characters could be subjective, so I give this one a neutral rating, as others may connect better than I did.

A good story.

I like Luana and Keeran. They are attracted to each other. Luana was Alpha of her pack. She was defeated and then banished from her pack. She is strong and a good leader. Keeran is a former slave who was abused. This makes him a little timid, even though he is a powerful warlock. As the seek for Keeran's mother, they face many dangers. There action and surprises.

Magical

This books follows 2 of the main characters from the first books but dwells more on their story. Was well written, good character development, action, magic and many supernatural beings. Luana (who has my name) sort of irked me in this book and seemed somewhat immature from the previous books. Some spelling and grammar errors but not a lot. Overall good series.

Loved it! I read it in slightly over 24hrs and am onto book 5 since this one ended in a decent cliff hanger. I love that Keeran is getting his own story but I hope that it all ends well with the characters because it looks like there will be another battle/fight among the supernatural creatures in this half of the series again
