Op een dag vindt Beer drie eieren. Hij neemt ze mee om erop te passen. Er kruipen drie gansjes uit de eieren.

Ze moeten veel leren voor ze groot zijn. Egel helpt met wijze raad. En dat is broodnodig! Eigenwijze Beer!

Wat een heerlijk boek om voor te lezen voor de klas. Goed te doen voor groep 1,2 en 3 maar wellicht ook nog iets hoger. Maar mijn kleinkinderen van 3 en twee konden we ook van genieten.

Het gaat over beer en egel die een nest met eitjes 'uitbroeden' en hierdoor min of meer per ongeluk de zorg krijgen over wat jonge gansjes. Tsja, en dat opvoeden heel wat (plat)voeten in aarde heeft komen ze snel achter! Eten, drinken en leren vliegen...

Erg leuk boek om voor te lezen in de lente als alle kuikens uit hun eitjes komen!

En uiteraard voorzien van de prachtig illustraties en pakkende teksten waar het echtpaar Schubert bekend om staat.

Trois oeufs et un Gronours is the French translation which I found in our local library this morning. The illustrations are brilliant and I have in mind to buy this book (in English) for my youngest grandchild asap

Aandoenlijk verhaal over Beer die drie eieren vindt. Als de eieren uitkomen, wil hij graag voor ze zorgen, maar de grote, onhandige Beer weet niet goed hoe. Egel komt met ideeën en oplossingen en de gansjes worden zo waar als kan opgevoed door Beer om voor hunzelf te zorgen.

Horton hatched an egg? Mother Bruce?

Um, yeah, basically it's a combination of those two books, with prettier pictures. It's not a fable, like Horton, nor funny, like Mother Bruce, but just a very nice, very pretty book. With a realistic-looking bear that doesn't eat the eggs, and realistic-looking geese that favor fish over grass and weeds, so not great science, either.

Very cute book about a bear who hatches three little duck eggs and becomes their psuedo mother. He teaches them to swim and then to fly. He has an adorable little hedgehog friend who helps him along the way. Mothering is hard work no matter who your are.
