The Baileys #2

Advice from a Jilted Bride

Rate this book
What's a girl to do after being ditched at the altar by text message? That's right. Text. Message.

How does she pick up the pieces and move on? I'm no Dear Abby but here's a little free advice...

Advice #1 - First, purge your apartment of all things him--by tossing his belongings off the balcony.

Advice #2 - Do not, I repeat do not, throw anything out into the hallway because you'll injure your hot new neighbor.

Advice #3 - When said neighbor brings over Chinese Food do not let him stay and keep you company. It's awkward when you realize he's your boss.

Advice #4 - Accept his offer to help you with your side business but think twice before using a date to his sister's wedding as collateral.

Advice #5 - Investigate who your mystery neighbor really is. Don't trust his word even if he's the world's best kisser.

If you listen to nothing else, pay attention to that last one. It's the most important and will save you a lot of heartache.

“I will carry you with me. ‘Til I see you again.”

The Baileys are my new go-to series for every time I crave a simple, fun romance full of family dynamics and without unnecessary drama. Advice from a Jilted Bride is a strangers to friends to lovers, with a bit of fake dating and forbidden romance. It can be read as a standalone, even though you always enjoy a tiny bit more if you read these kinds of books in order.

I pick up the sci-fi novel Jeff claimed was better than any of my romance books. Should have figured out then that we weren’t compatible.

Brooklyn Bailey has just been left at the altar via text message. More angry than heartbroken, she has to move to an apartment she can’t afford by herself and bear the pitying glances.

"Well, you know the saying." () I kick him in the ass and push him out of the door. "You have to kiss a lot of frogs before you find your prince."

Worried about her, the Baileys entrust Wyatt, her new neighbour, the task of looking after her. They quickly become friends, but both of them want so much more. Unluckily for Brooklyn, Wyatt only does casual, is going to be there temporarily and he’s Brooklyn’s boss. So they decide to keep it platonic.

Spoiler: “This whole platonic thing sucks”

I enjoyed a lot all the relationships in this book, from the family dynamics to the romance. All the Bailey siblings are hilarious together and I can’t wait to read their stories. The authors manage to give an extra of family scenes without diverting attention from the romance, which is something difficult to find.

“We’re playing rummy.”

“Too bad we can’t play strip poker.” I grin.

She pokes me in the stomach. “You better stop with these comments. We’re just friends, remember?”

I smile, wishing she was mine to kiss when she’s this cute.

Overall, Advice from a Jilted Bride is a sweet, light, sexy romance with a lot of family scenes that would make you smile. I said this in the review of the previous book, but I’ll say it again. If you are looking for something like The Bridgertons, I truly recommend to give this one a try. There aren’t a lot of books portraying big families, but if you are not into that, the romance in this series is also good by itself!

“Close your eyes.”

“This isn’t my first kiss.”

“Just close them.” I close my eyes and lick my lips. ()

“Our first kiss will not be with one hundred people bearing witness,” he whispers into my ear and goose bumps scatter along my neck. () “Because once my lips land on yours, I’m certain I’ll turn into a caveman until you’re naked and writhing beneath me.”

Brooklyn & Wyatt
Brooklyn has been left at the altar and she's mad. So mad she's throwing his things out of their apartment. When she accidentally clocks new neighbor, Wyatt, in the head with a book they become friends. He's also the new manager at the hotel she works at, but is he really the manager or is he hiding a big secret that could jeopardize everything.

Wyatt has a reason for keeping a secret. Is it a good idea? Probably not. Is his father a douche? Yes, yes he is. Can we still think Wyatt is sweet? Sure can.

These two were sweet and cute together. I liked how it was a bit of a slow burn since she had just been left at the altar, so best not to rush into anything. The build up to lovers was a good one. Good banter and good chemistry make for a good addition to the series.

Series notes:
All Bailey's are heavily involved in each book, so you might as well start at the beginning.

Narration notes:
They both did a fabulous job. I do wish there were different narrators for each book in the series, since I was used to these voices for the last book. It seems like they'll narrate the whole series so I'd better get used to it.

I just cannot with this book, the heroine thinks that if she sleeps around that means she is a slut and her BROTHER had to tell her that there is nothing wrong with having a meaningless ONS....

I would have honestly loved it if she had a couple of ONS after her fiance dumped her through text the day before her wedding!! I mean it would be so refreshing to read about a woman actually letting loose once in a while. Haven't we read tons of books where the hero has either been dumped or left at the altar and then becomes a huge manwhore. Authors try to even out the playing field for both the hero and heroine, reading about women who are so sexually inept and who rely on men so much is honestly just degrading and sexist. GET WITH THE TIMES!!!

Binge read this in one sitting yesterday! And I’m going to be honest, I’m absolutely spellbound by this series. Every book (there’s 2 so far) has been downright dreamy! Such sweet and charming love stories with the best dialogue and steamy moments. It feeds my bookish heart. I can’t even tell you! I’m a huge fan of The Baileys and I’m ready for more!

Damit geht einiges an Spannung verloren.

Band zwei „Twist of a Love Affair“ erscheint am 2.11.2020 bei Forever by Ullstein.

This series is very sweet, entertaining and funny. The books seem pretty Hallmark movieish w/some sexy times.

Maybe because I am reading a very dark trilogy at the same time as I'm reading this series, it just seems like these books are calming and sweet. They tend to be low angst but still enough conflict/angst to keep them interesting.

Fazit

I am loving The Baileys series by writing duo Piper Rayne, book one blew me away and I enjoyed this one almost as much. Advice from A Jilted Bride pairs a bride left on her wedding day via text message (seriously) with a newcomer to Lake Starlight who has two goals in mind get through his 6 months in Alaska and get the carrot his father is dangling in front of him. This was so not the time for romance for either character, but they both needed a friend and after time that friendship turned to much more. A delicious slow burn romance filled with crazy antics, interesting dates, and a whole lot of meddling family members make this an exciting and entertaining love story.

Living in a small town where your family is considered royalty makes it difficult when you are left at the altar by your sniveling weasel of an ex and all Brooklyn Bailey wants is for the talk to die down so she can move on with her life.

Wyatt has moved to Lake Starlight to work at the local hotel his father’s company just acquired and make recommendations on how to make it profitable. What he doesn’t expect is to be hit in the head with a book by a beautiful woman in a wedding gown.

I loved everything about this couple from the way they met, to how easily they fit despite seeming like complete opposites, and to the little ways they helped each other along the way. I truly enjoy books where the characters change over the course of the book and both Brooklyn and Wyatt began to see their lives in a whole new light as this book went on. I appreciated the way they made each other look at life and obstacles differently and how they helped one another through difficult times. There is always something special about a slow burn romance because once they ignite is burns so much brighter.

Filled with so much emotion yet packed with humor to keep it well balanced, Advice from a Jilted Bride is another quality romance from Piper Rayne.

2 stars. This book was basically disappointing. It was predictable, the relationship between the hero & heroine was frustrating, several of the side characters were terrible and brought down the story. The hero’s dad was awful but there was no true closure between him & the hero. Basically, this is two starts because I finished it, but I’m pretty disappointed overall.

Safe but this book contains one of my biggest pet peeves… the heroine was engaged to a guy who she had bad sex with for years. Hero was a manwhore and obv having amazing sex with tons of women constantly. Heroine doesn’t even CONSIDER a ONS after she gets dumped at the alter by her ex, even when she finds out he cheated on her. She is too “serious” about sex to just go have a fling. Meanwhile, the hero keeps thinking that he needs to find someone else to fuck since the heroine is off limits. TBH, he might have, there were lots of skipped weeks of time. It’s absurd and frustrating that there’s such a double standard. Her brothers are all fucking random women, the hero was fucking random women, but the heroine has bad sex for most of her adult life and BECAUSE SHES FEMALE won’t even consider anything not serious. This shitty double standard has become so fucking old, and it pisses me off to read about! This isn’t a historical romance, there’s no reason for this bullshit!

Advice from a Jilted Bride was the second book in the Baileys series by the authors Piper Rayne. The books are best read in order as they build on each other.

We learned in book one there are nine Bailey siblings: Austin, Savannah, Brooklyn, Rome (twin), Denver (twin), Juno, Kingston, Phoenix (twin) and Sedona (twin) and they were the heart and soul of the (very) small town Lake Starlight, Alaska.

Brooklyn Bailey was the third oldest sibling. She was engaged to be married to someone we learned the siblings didn’t particularly like but they loved Brooklyn and it was her choice....until he left her at the alter on their wedding day.

Wyatt Moore was the new hot neighbor that moved in across the hall. His first day in Lake Starlight happened to be Brooklyn’s “fateful day.”

There are so many things I loved about this book. I loved how Wyatt and Brooklyn met. I loved all of the Bailey clan (including BFF’s that were like siblings). I loved the humor and bantering that dominated the storyline. I loved the small town antics, including Buzz Wheel. And I even loved the storyline. It was well written and well developed with an abundance of humor. I had the giggles frequently.

The authors have a way of leaving me in anticipation of the next book, and this one was no exception. The ending surprise prepares us for Denver, or is Rome? With these two hilarious and rambunctious twins only time will tell. Bring on Birth of A Baby Daddy!

I don't know how Piper and Rayne create the magic that they do but they have done it again, and with such a difficult topic as well. How do you go on after being left at the alter with nothing more than a text message? You would think this book would be mostly about the heartache and how Brooklyn was devastated by the events that had taken place, and she was but THANKFULLY Wyatt, her HOT new neighbor, was there to help her get over the ass a lot quicker than expected.

You could tell right from the start that not only would there be intense chemistry between Brooklyn and Wyatt but also a deep friendship. Yes he was keeping a HUGE secret from her but he was doing that for a legit reason and he did come clean with her before he should have...which I totally give him props for. (yes I know I am talking about a fictional character as if he were a real person...anyway...) I love that The Baileys are always there for one another especially in their time of need, you would think with nine brothers and sisters there would be jealousy and fighting but there is nothing but love and respect and dare I say gratitude for one another, it really does the heart good!

ADVICE FROM A JILTED BRIDE is the second book in THE BAILEYS SERIES, each book can be read as a standalone but I would highly suggest you read them in order that way you can follow each of the siblings as they find their HEAs. I am really looking forward to the next book BIRTH OF A BABY DADDY, who will the father be Rome or Denver?? We'll have to wait until May to find out.  Happy Reading!!!

If you’re looking for a romance that will make you feel good all over, you’ve come to the PERFECT place! 𝐀𝐝𝐯𝐢𝐜𝐞 𝐟𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝐚 𝐉𝐢𝐥𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐁𝐫𝐢𝐝𝐞, book two in Piper Rayne’s 𝑇ℎ𝑒 𝐵𝑎𝑖𝑙𝑒𝑦𝑠 series, is a steamy and sweet slow-burn romance that’s brimming with humor, wit, and so much heart. These characters, hell, this entire family has won my heart from the very beginning. I know with each new book in the series, my fondness for all of them will grow stronger. Brooklyn and Wyatt…I love how they went from complete strangers, to fast friends, to lovers where their bond grew hotter, bolder, and stronger as each day went by. With a pretty hilarious “meet-cute” and the emotional and tension-filled circumstances that followed, this is one happily ever after you won’t want to miss.

You guys!! Advice from a Jilted bride was so amazing. I loved the typical banter and laughs you get from a Piper Rayne story, but this story had such great heart. Brooklyn and Wyatt were so sexy and delicious and I never wanted it to end!

After meeting Brooklyn in the first Bailey book I knew that I needed her story stat. I love that we are back in the Bailey fold and the small town of Lake Starlight. After being stood up at the later, Brooklyn Bailey is ready to move on and pick up the pieces. But who.leeps crossing her path? Her sexy and mysterious new neighbor, Wyatt, who she finds herself drawn to more and more.

Gah! I thought this story was a breath of fresh air. I loved being back with the Baileys and being amidst their banter and interactions. Their comraderie and love was so evident and a bonus to an incredible story. Wyatt and Brooklyn had a connection that could not be denied and I loved how their relationship developed slowly over time. Overall this was a great story and another Piper Rayne hit! 4 stars! I love the family dynamic between the Bailey siblings... they are so close, always taking care of each other and always wanting the best for one another.

I know from the get-go that Jeff was not the one for Brooklyn so wasn’t surprised when he left her. I loved watching Brooklyn grow into her own... into a strong, independent single woman without Jeff.

Wyatt is her next door neighbor and sparks fly despite her wanting to guard her heart and then finding out he is her boss.

I loved watching these two build a friendship that turned into something more. Even more, I loved watching Wyatt put his foot down with his overbearing dad to do what he wants... to be with who he wants screw the consequences.

Readers who enjoy small town romance books, and siblings who love and really care for one another should pick this series up ASAP

Nett aber nichts was mich wirklich berührt.

A favorite author of mine is the duo known as Piper Rayne as their series have the right amount and balance of humor and seriousness. You also feel connected to the whole characters and have this strong sense of friendship and family values throughout all their different series. Advice from a Jilted Bride is Book #2 in her new series "The Baileys' which are a family of siblings - nine of them who were left to bind together and raise one another when their parents died in a tragedy together. Book #1 was Austin's story, and now Book #2 is Brooklyn's. Brooklyn was due to get married today but instead found herself stood up at the altar and her groom decided to send her a text - I'm not coming. With all eyes on her, she rushes out and heads to the apartment they were meant to share and of course, what does every angry person do in a relationship? She chucks his stuff outside, one of the items hits her new neighbor Wyatt. Wyatt is in town working undercover at the local hotel as his family has brought the building and now Wyatt has been sent by his father to look at how they can get it out of the red and start turning a profit. Wyatt didn't come to town looking for love and Brooklyn is nowhere near ready to jump into a relationship with someone new or are they? The two of them have some strong chemistry bouncing off the pages, but are they prepared to start a relationship? I liked this book, even more so than the first as the family bonded together in this book for Brooklyn and you could see the love for one another radiating off the pages. This book also ends in a major cliffhanger to prepare you for Book #3 which had me going OMFG, and now I can't wait for Book #3 Advice from a Baby Daddy to arrive.

4-4,5 Sterne !

4 STARS!!!

Piper Rayne is back with another captivating laugh out loud romance, that literally had me grinning and swooning with every single chapter. Advice From A Jilted Bride picks up the story of the Bailey family with the middle child Brooklyn Bailey, who was on her way to saying 'I do' when who she thought was the love of her life ends things minutes before the procession. Heart broken and angry at the opposite sex, Brooklyn begins the journey of starting over when she meets her new neighbor, Wyatt, a smoldering business man with secrets that no one can know about.

I absolutely adore this series and this installment just furthers my belief that the writing duo are one of the Goddesses on Romance Olympus. Simple as that. From the very beginning of the novel, we are instantly pulled into the aftermath of Brooklyn not so quite wedding and her absorbing the news that she wont be a wife after all. Kind with a flare for the art of sass, I connected with Brooklyn on so many levels to the point where I wanted to protect her at all costs. Brooklyn never wavered in what she wanted and stood her ground for her beliefs and the love she has for the people who live in Lake Starlight.

Just like in the first novel, I love the bond and the firm relationship she has with her family as I got to see how each of them played their role in her life and how solid they were to support and protect her no matter what her decision or actions were. Trust was a huge theme throughout this novel and I felt like the Bailey family is a great depiction of what a healthy solid family looks like when each of them trusts the other.

From the get-go, the chemistry between Wyatt and Brooklyn was off the chart and I was shipping the crap out of them from the moment he set foot into her apartment to check on her. Cool, crisp, educated, and sarcastic Wyatt is someone that you have to try really hard not to fall in love with. I loved the backstory we were given of Wyatt as he makes his new temporary home in Lake Starlight and watching his character develop and new layers begin to unfold with each scene and chapter was truly enchanting.

Advice From A Jilted Bride is a captivating, laugh-out-loud romance that tells the story of finding yourself and second loves. I highly recommend this novel to anyone who loves a good romance comedy with a flare for the steamy side.
