Jazz Colton wants nothing more than a boring life. Escaping from a tumultuous past in California, she moves to Oakview seeking tranquility. She’s done with love, done with excitement, all she needs is a little calm and quiet, and her independence.
Lucy Ford has finally achieved her dream of becoming a police officer. Now that she has what she wants, she needs to deal with what she doesn’t want. And with a house full of stray cats, the one thing that Lucy doesn’t want is yet someone else to look after.
But when Jazz’s past begins to catch up with her, Lucy can’t stop herself from stepping in to help Jazz clean up the mess. And as much as Jazz doesn’t want to get attached, she just can’t stop the feelings that the beautiful cop elicits...
Sometimes the only way a relationship can work is through compromise. But can Jazz allow Lucy to chip away at her independence? And can Lucy allow herself just one more stray to take care of?
Coffee for Two is a standalone FF romance novella set in the Oakview universe, with a HEA ending. Oakview books can be read in any order, just be prepared to see some familiar faces around town!
Ticked a lot of boxes but too short to be 5*s. I like the way Sienna Walters writes and will be continuing with this series. Good cleanse the palate books.
I've got the edition with another cover. It's not too different, but I personally liked the updated one. My version is also shorter, so I think, that it was edited and improved. This is - however - only a guess, that I'm believing to be true, because of the smaller page number.
The writing stlye itself is nice, and the way we change between POV's is done in a nice way as well. I could always tell who we were following and who's POV we were reading about.
The story itself is short and simpel. If you wanna be critical, you could say that the ending is predictable, however, I - personally - liked it. I also liked the forshadowing and I liked that the author didn't feel the need to outsmart the reader with a plot twist.
I enjoyed the message and character development. I liked that they managed to have healthy communication, that they managed to compromise, that they managed to overcome misunderstandings. I didn't enjoy the misunderstanding in itsef, but I'm happy that they managed to realise that they were both assholes.
What I struggled with was Lucy. She was very self-centered, very know-it-all. And it made it hard for me to root for her and Jazz. Yes, I like me a good enemys to lovers, but they weren't really enemys and the fact that they thought the other was extremly hot from the very first second they layed eyes on each other, made it feel like more of an enemys to fuckbudys than lovers. I also hated - with a burning passion - how Lucy treated the dog owner, saying that people like her should not own a dog WHILE she herself has no clue how to correctly raise cats. I'm a dog breeder. I also have cats. I know that you should NOT allow people into your home when your puppys or kittens are barely a few weeks old. You risk the puppys/kittens health and the mother is gonna be stressed as well, because her first instinct is to protect her offspring from danger , which a stranger just happens to be. Even if they intend that or not. It's just how the cat/dog views them and that's a fact. You allow people into your home when you're puppys/kittens are AT LEAST 5 weeks old. Everything else is irresponsible. I could explain in way to much detail why, but this is supposed to be a book review and not a roast, so I'll contain myself. Just know that I didn't like Lucy. If you think I'm just an offended dog owner, you're wrong. The way she thought about Jazz wasn't that great either. She thought of her as weak. And embodied the 'I don't want you at your worst' mindset. You ever heard of the saying 'You don't want me at my worst, you don't deserve me at my best'? Because that's how I feel about you Lucy. She does change her views, - #CharacterDevelopment - but she still didn't become my favourit character.
I guess it might be not too fair to judge this book so badly, only because I don't like Lucy, but you have to keep in mind, that this is a love story - a short love story - which means that those characters are the soul of the story. How am I supposed to root for the Happy Ending, when I don't want those people to get together? I was happy with the ending and I felt like at the end Lucy and Jazz made a fine couple, but the way towards the end was hard.
This is however just my personal opinion, so there's a chance someone else will have no problem with Lucy. If that happens to be the case, you'll have a good time, because the story itself is good.
The main characters make a complementary pair, each with a difficult back story. Their relationship becomes serious extremely quickly, albeit with some backsliding. Due to the limitations of the novella format there is not enough time to fully convey to the reader why they feel so strongly about each other. Toward the end there is a sudden shift to the very melodramatic; the intensity is a bit out of place given the previous chapters. It does resolve to the expected HEA, though again very quickly.
I enjoyed the book. The characters were very sweet. There was baggage from both Lucy and Jazz. It took a lot of communication between them to get past their hang ups. The kittens was a nice touch!
An instant connection, but will they fight it? This novella had me completely absorbed from the very beginning. From the writing style to the plot of the story, I was consumed. The immediate tension between the characters, and the continuous conflicting desire to be independent, kept you on the hook wanting more. Jazz is fighting with trying to become self-sufficient due to her past struggles. Lucy has compassion for everything and is continually trying to take care of everyone, when she really wants someone to take care of her. Both characters have a strong support system. Jazz has her mother and Lucy has Jax, the easygoing landlord. I think this is a great start to a series of books. Congratulations to the author for writing a story that was a delightful read. I look forward to many more stories in this series!

This book was okay, the main characters were slightly frustrating and the plot was simple with a bit of thrill/mystery. Honestly the mystery wasn’t too difficult, but it did make the book a bit more interesting.
Lucy Ford is an uptight by the book police office who is actually a softie at heart taken care of kittens and cats on her off time. But she’s trying to stay away from being a nurturing partner in any relationship, she’s tired and wants to be taken care of for once. Meanwhile Jazz Colton is new in town and wants to be independent and free form a controlling Ex. So entering a new relationship with an uptight cop is not ideal, but is something she can’t seem to say no to.
Overall, I wanted to really like the book but the characters just contradicted themselves too much in what they wanted and didn’t want. But I will say I’m happy Jazz and Lucy had a real discussion about their feelings and their relationship, which is a literary first. So huge applause there.
She had enough and just wanted a quiet life so she goes to a another town. They had got their dream job as a policewoman but they has ended up with lots of stray cats. Her past catches up with her and they pop into her life to help out. Can they be brought together? Can life be good for them? See if it will

Well I started on book 6 so I thought I had better go back to the beginning of this wonderful series. Book 1 is a short read but it packs an awful lot into a few pages it seemed a bit rushed but i still enjoyed it
An easy and fun read. Both characters are so cute. Im kind of in love with the both of them. Super nice start for the series since this is the first one I read from it. Its cute overall <3
This book started me on the Oakview series and I really enjoyed it, so much so that I've read the whole series. I loved the setting and the characters were likeable. Recommended.
