Not Mine to Love follows the story of Jane and Matt on their journey to find love. What starts as a spark at an audition for Jane's dream role, quickly lights a fire as Jane and Matt play love interests on the big screen, but is it all just make believe? Or is there really something more there? It will take stepping out of their comfort zones to take the chance on each other, and maybe they will also be taking a chance on love.
This is a super quick read. A perfect read to ease back into this New Year. I really liked both characters they felt like real people with fears and dreams. Right away, I was hooked and looking forward to what was going to happen at the end. All around the writing was well done and a good read from a new author. The big downside for me was the fact it was a short story! I felt like this book could have gone on to be even better. There was so much more that she could have expanded on, like what exactly happened in Jane's past relationships to make her scared of love? What happens to your job when you are dating your co-worker? And what about the age difference they barely touched at the start? This book had great bones and really set a great structure it is a bummer it’s not a full length novel.
As romances go it didn’t bring anything new to the table and it wasn’t memorable enough to hit my top spot for best romance of 2019, but it was enjoyable and definitely kept me reading. It's somewhere in the middle between “great read” and “bad read” landing at the perfect “good read” spot. I would recommend it to someone whose looking for a well-written short romance. Or someone who just doesn’t have the time to read full length romances anymore. Like I always say you don’t have to take my word for it! Check it out and let me know if you agree or disagree!
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
I'm giving this a five because it is so much like my life. I am terrified of commitment and I'm married!! I could understand what she was going through, you want, need, crave, desire love and affection that goes beyond sex. You want to be cherished, and, well, worshipped. To be made to feel as if you are his shining star.
Then to have the courage to give all that back to him. To love him unconditionally, warts and all LOL to want to do special things to please him and make him as happy as he makes you. He does not only the little things and knows everything about you but he goes all out when it comes to sexually pleasing you. No matter what form it takes. I know the heroine never meant to tease him, and in her mind, it wasn't teasing it was the confusion of what she wanted and needed but was terrified of being duped by a man yet again. After a while, a woman doubts herself when all she seems to attract are the scum of the earth and never prince Charming. With the Hero, he was in love with love and because of his broken home swore that would never happen with his woman, she was going to be his queen and until he found her he was saving himself for her.
His frustration is so understandable as many women today see men as a dime a dozen and what's in it for me. The trick is to get the prince and the queen together and have them realize they have a true gem.
The game of love is so dicy and terrifying to navigate. A heart is so vulnerable. The slow burn, the steamy sex, and the HEA are perfect. The last two sentences sum up my all my dreams for a HEA for me. But at my age and my situation, I will only get them through amazing books like this one.
🎬 Finally, a chance for Jane to act, and a handsome young co-star with🌟 stars in his eyes 💘 January 16, 2019 Format: Kindle Edition 3.5 🌟stars ❤🎬 The story is fairly well-written and mostly set in Scotland (though there is little local atmosphere in the telling, other than a hiking trip to the Isle of Skye). I liked the young actor hero in this romance novella, but there were gaps in the story and I did not understand the heroine. The story needed to be a little longer to explain heroine Jane's relationship with bar owner Alec. He's a nebulous future and the story never explains how Jane ended up with him. Most of the characters apart from the hero and heroine have brief mentions and no depth. And I found it difficult to warm to Jane and her shifting moods.
I believe the author is new to the trade and think she has promise but needs to provide more relevant background information to set the stage for why the characters act as they do, and not just the major moments when they interact.
I read a complimentary advance copy of the story; this is my voluntary and honest review.
I absolutely loved this story! My gosh! Matt is just the closest thing to perfection. He is sweet, and caring, and did I mention, Scottish? Jane and Matt meet when she goes to an audition for a production. She is super commitment shy and scared of letting herself get close to anyone after her last partner cheated on her. Matt doesn't want to just have a casual fling with someone. He wants someone that he can settle down with. They end up working together and get to know each other pretty well. Feeling start to develop pretty quickly. Matt does everything he can think of to show Jane that he is the man for her. She knows he is, but she is too scared. When Jane messes up and pushes Matt away, can she put her fear behind her and keep the man she truly loves? You should read this because it is one of the sweetest, heart-wrenching romances that I have read in quite some time.
Short and sweet take on a romantic triangle Jane is an aspiring actress that is working as a waitress. When she goes to an audition she has the good fortune of auditioning with Matt. He is taken with her, but she is in a relationship with Alec. Ms. Moore’s take is delightful and will have you turning the pages to find out what happens next. Delightful characters and story written with a twist. I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book.
For a first time author, Skylar Moore has this one out of the park! What an absolutely amazing read! Terrific storyline; awesome characters; just enough turmoil to keep you flipping those pages. The HEA? Simply magnificent. You definitely want this one on your TBR. (I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book and absolutely loved it!) ❤️❤️
This was a surprisingly good read. The story starts quick and doesn't stop until the end. There isn't a lot of fluff in between what is happening. Normally I don't mind that, but I think it would have been a little more enjoyable with a little more stuff in the middle of some sections. I found the characters to be likable and I was rooting for them the whole time. The story is hot and doesn't shy away from that.
Jane and Matt will grab your heart and take you on an emotional roller coaster. Broken hearts take a long time to mend. Plenty of drama and twists. Their chemistry is explosive and their attraction all-consuming. Likable characters and an engaging story. I read a reader copy via Hidden Gems and voluntarily chose to review.
I enjoyed this. It was short and sweet, but with a slow burn. The characters were lovable and the chemistry was great. I just wished that it wasn’t so condensed. This would have made a great full length novel!!
I was given this for free for a honest review. Cute story. Characters were likeable, especially Matt. It was refreshing to see an author have the man as the virgin character! Sexual tension was palpable throughout and gave way to a sweet evening.
The author had me believing this was a clean romance til near the end of the book when she let me down. It's still a good romance, just not clean which is mt preference.
Matt and Jane are wonderful together, having incredible chemistry. The romance is perfect. Great plot and characters. This is a voluntary review of an advance reader copy.
This book was way to short and not a lot of connection between characters. Felt extremely childish and very immature. Received book as an ARC and I want to give my honest review.
I couldn't put this book down. The chemistry between Matt and Jane was beautifully written. Out of friendship blossomed a very interesting romantic story.
