Emily thought she was leaving her money troubles behind when she inherited an old house from her great aunt, who went missing the previous year. But when she and her husband Jesse arrived at the house, they discovered that Aunt Matilda was murdered—and the culprit was still at large. Guided by the ghosts of Matilda and the orphans she raised, can Emily and Jesse catch the criminals and save themselves?
Skylar Finn grew up in a refinery town just outside of Houston, Texas. She has lived in Pennsylvania, Ohio, West Virginia, Colorado, and most recently Florida. She writes on the road on planes, trains, and buses. When she's not writing, she is out looking for the next adventure.
Just when were feeling there was little hope, Emily and Jesse receive some unexpected news. Emily’s great aunt Matilda Meade had left her a large house on a fair sized property. The draw back was that it was in a small town in Colorado. They decide to pack up their belongings and drove the 30 hours to get there. The first impression is that it is a bit spooky and even more so when they find out her aunt, the assistant and three children disappeared without a trace and were declared dead. Then it starts to get really creepy as unexplainable things begin to happen.
This is a scary, creepy haunted house story that keeps you on the edge of your seat. Who to trust, are you going crazy and how fast can we get out of here, are all things that plagued the characters. The author created wonderfully detailed characters that draw in the reader. The narrative with its great description adds to the eerie feeling. The storyline is easy to read and is filled with great unanticipated events, betrayals and ghostly characters that build up the suspense and keeps you wanted to read on. The characters had to overcome their fear and find inner strength to deal with all the obstacles that were thrown at them. It is well written and an enjoyable book.

Emily inherits her Aunt Matilda’s Victorian home after she is declared dead. She, along with 3 children and a helper disappeared without a trace. Emily and her husband, Jesse, move to the home planning to fix it up and sell it, not knowing the history of the house until they arrive. The home is haunted, of course, by the vengeful spirits and they won’t rest until they are avenged for their murder. I liked the twists and turns that I didn’t see coming, but little things bugged me. If the home was mortgaged, as stated in the book, why did Emily inherit it, free and clear? And if Emily lost her phone in one chap, how did she have it to use in the next one? And one more, isn’t it 10 years for someone to be declared dead? The book made it seem much faster. Other than those things, the book kept me on edge and I stayed up way too late to finish it!

I enjoyed reading this book. It combines mystery with the paranormal in a suspenseful way and the pacing of the story kept my adrenaline flowing. The characters are fairly well-developed, with many taking a turn at telling the story from their viewpoint. I sympathized with the young couple who inherit the mansion, the great-aunt who bequeathed it, and young Andrea, who was so caring to the two younger children.
I really liked that there was a balance between the selfishness, criminality, and greed of the bad actors in the tale and the honesty, integrity, and kindness of the good ones. This wasn't as terrifying as some of my favorite horror stories, but it had character. It isn't a cozy mystery, either, but it should appeal to those readers who enjoy them.
I was reading along at a pretty good pace I thought (how are we ever gonna fill the rest of the book things are moving way too fast), and the between one minute and the next it seems like another writer took over. We got a (not brief) synopsis of what we had just read and the story starts all over again, not just with Jessie and Emily’s viewpoint but also that of several of the bad guys POV. Bit jarring and added filler that was unnecessary. It was a good story but BADLY needed an editors help with continuity (you can’t call Jesse on your phone and warn him, you just lost it two seconds ago!)
Now I've read a couple of books from this series. But come on really!!!!! You just Chang the time an date an people an place. You should of vacuumed out the cob weds. Just pass this book up cause you already read it!!!!!!
Once again a new to me author. This time an unsolved mystery that took place in an old mansion that the new owners would like to solve. Kept me going for sure and now I’m gonna have to open book #2 and see what WE are going to face next. Not to worry though, I have book #3 waiting in the wings. Again, thanks to this author to keep me doing what I love to do. Reading, one of life’s simple pleasures.
Okay. Just finished the third in the Meade Mansion series. Once again, I was in no way disappointed with this one. If the author would just find a way for me to help those when it seemed all was lost. I know. Just not possible. Thank you Skylar Finn for your efforts on our behalf. Now I can find out what else you may have for my reading pleasure. Please! Keep on keeping on!!!
I love a great house haunting story and this one is great. I have been reading the series and they are all good. This one did not disappoint either as it caught me in the beginning and kept my interest throughout the story. I loved the characters in the story as well and the story was intense and spooky good!

A ridiculous way to take a readers time money and effort to enjoy an afternoon of reading. The writing was fine and interesting but leaves the reader feeling unsatisfied. Not many readers appreciate the authors way of putting out a book, left with a book with no ending. Good or bad. Only indifferent.
The Haunting of Meade Mansion Skylar Finn I have read several books written by this author and she has done a great job at writing this one! I cannot wait to read more by her.
The story line caught my attention at the very beginning and kept me interested throughout the entire book.

This started out great. But as I read on I found it was repetitive. Going back over what had happend almost ad verbatim. This being said it was still a good read. The plot was good and well thought out.
Don't read the first book unless you know you will be buying the series. The first book ends mid sentence of the ending so you have to read the next book.
so far the story seems ok, I just find it verry irritating that they split the story in 3 books. Now I'm at the point that I just keep on reading because I want to know how it ends.
The story was well written and it kept me clued to the book. The story was well thought out and seems real.
I liked the way Jesse and the wife fought and succeeded in solving a dangerous situation at the haunted house. This lead to the liberation of the ghost of Matilda and the Children who were brutally murdered by Theresa and Cynthia assisted my others. The ending was good as it avoided killings.
I will recommend the book to my colleagues
I rated it highly because of the way the story was presented, from the start it gets the readers attention to want more. This story appears so realistic and I felt like it happened in my location.
Skylar Flynn tells this riviting story in a way that makes it impossible to walk away from for even a brief time. I read in bed for an hour or so before beginning my day (I am retired) then before even getting dressed I insert my ear bud in my ear and turn on the text to speech feature (which I love about Kindle Unlimited)! Anticipating the next twists and turns the story will take, I soon realize my chores are done and I can now sit with a cup of coffee and continue on reading about the action packed adventures of this young couple. I highly recommend this book!
I didn't think I would care for this one in the beginning, but I'm glad I persisted. The pace was slow in the beginning and didn't pick up much until about halfway. At that point, things started coming together quickly, but still no real answers until the last quarter. This was well-plotted, and included a side plot that confused things a fair bit. Both plot threads are appropriately resolved by the end and although I expected some of it I was still surprised by some of the details. My biggest complaint is the slow start, which will likely cause some readers to set it aside before things start to pick up. Other than the pacing, however, this was well done.
I would have given this five stars had it not been for the author’s slip ups. A really good ghost story with great characters but the author occasionally forgets what she has written. Halfway through the book she goes through part of the story again, as if she is writing a second book and needed to explain the first but I just skipped through that part. Aside from that it is definitely worth a read if you like spooky stories.
Emily is the main character and she will keep you on your toes. This book is a must read. It's starts out good and you'll not want to put it down. It's a who done it mixed in with ghosts. I recommend this book to anyone whom loves excitement and trying to guess who did it.
I was definitely on the edge of my seat while reading this book! Great characters and story, suspense, paranormal activity, a historic home all wrapped up in a mystery... What's not to love? I will definitely read more from this author as I found this book to be very entertaining!
Not sure if I'll read all 57 back to back but it's interesting to see the different styles of writing. Are all these books by single authors? Are some a collaboration? Do some of them not get edited? This book has some repeat chapters. Others seem like a series slapped together. At least the ghosts in this story will not cause nightmares...
This has been my favorite haunted house mystery book of the series, so far! There was great suspense and terror throughout. The characters were well developed and complex. I enjoyed the supernatural aspect of the story greatly because it was not overwhelming and even without it, it would’ve been a wonderful story. 5 stars!!!
I enjoyed this story, an original and entertaining variation of the traditional haunted house mystery. Unlike so many books I have read lately, the story was well-written and edited. It was a bit too long due to some unnecessary repetition, but otherwise I would recommend it to my fellow mystery lovers.
it was ok, I wish the characters had more depth. The mystery seemed a bit forced and unfortunately did not have more substance to it. a few chapters felt like fillers and the only thing I actually kinda love about this book is Jesse and Emily's bond. but thats not enough to give this an improved rating considering this is a horror story and I was not at all horrified.
This was a suspenseful and exciting story that kept me guessing. It was well written but I must admit to being annoyed when earlier events were repeated as if the reader had missed a chapter or or two.
