Witch After Time

Rate this book

Would you travel to the past to right a wrong?

Solve a cold case?

Perhaps, catch a killer?

Meet one of the five witches who will.

Mariana Galvin is afraid of ghosts.

That's ironic because ghosts follow her everywhere.

As a medium and a member of the world's most elite paranormal crime-solving team, paranormal entities are part of the deal, but she has a foolproof plan - an early retirement.

The plan seems simple enough, but when she's summoned to solve a disturbing case in 1968 Chicago, she's forced to make a difficult choice - leave her teenagers and husband behind to travel back in time or ignore her calling and hope her abilities don't go into overdrive.

No matter which path she chooses, she's bound to find trouble. Fingers crossed, she makes it out this time.

Witch After Time is the fourth book in the five-novel A Witch in Time Mystery Series. Each is a standalone book, but you'll have more fun if you read the whole series.

Where's the rest?

Sorry but this has to be the worst in the series. Left far to many unanswered - Why was Roberto following her? Where did Lola go? Has her husband really filed for divorce? What will she do about the unscheduled prom date? Was that her assignment or did she half complete it? Okay the characters were good but really felt that the storyline was a big muddled.
Her daughter has sent her out for groceries and her unscheduled early return has her catching her young teenage daughter heading to prom night with a boy she's never met or know anything about. Things get even more confusing when she is served divorce papers, her sons return home and a package for her assignment is delivered. Not only does she have her mother haunting her but she's Retired! With the return of her husband home from work she takes on the assignment to find herself back in 1966. Her father-in-law is stalking her, a dog has been assigned to her and she has to go to a creepy cemetery for her assignment. Why do all the ghosts keep saying the same thing? Can she end the assignment and head home?

Nothing made any sense

I don't leave bad reviews often. I've read the other books in the series. Nothing in this book made sense. The beginning of the story is over-long, and serves no relevance to the "main" plot, such as it was. There is almost no aspect of a change in time, and the dialogue jumps around so much, as a reader, you have no idea who is speaking. The conclusion solved nothing. The statement that she didn't die and passed the test told me absolutely nothing about the previous exchanges. I nearly quit halfway through the book, but hoped there would be an answer to the mystery. Do yourself a favor and skip this one. Not worth the read. A 49 year old "chosen" one who has less ability to think a constructive thought than a preteen, just doesn't pass as remotely believable.

Disappointing

I've read the entire series in order so far. The first three were great, but this one was by far my least favorite. The character is supposed to be retired from the agency but when she takes on this new case, she acts like she's never done this sort of thing before. She is constantly messing up, talking to ghosts out loud, and even talking to the familiar in front of everyone. She acts like she doesn't even know what a familiar is but even though she usually works alone, you would think she would have heard about others experiences during the debriefings. There were lots of typos and things that just didn't make sense. For example, One part mentions Lockwood cemetery. I thought I missed something so I searched the book and it was the only time it was mentioned. What is Lockwood cemetery and what did it have to do with the story. I found a few things like this throughout. I read the entire book because I wanted to read the whole series but I hope number 5 is better than this one.

This is book 4 in the series and I didn't like it was much as I expected. While I liked the characters in this book, I found that there was too many questions left unanswered. You never really knew what the mystery even was or if it was even solved at the end. None of the problems with her family was resolved either. The ending didn't really resolve anything and left more questions than answers. I like the idea of how she travelled back in time and some of her powers were interesting. I would have liked to see her do more with her powers.

Witches, Ghosts, and Murder

This was a great read, and entry into the series. Mariana is just a normal mother, who happens to be able to talk to ghosts, so of course they send her back in time to a cemetery to solve a murder. Read along as she struggles to find the answers she needs.

Witch after time

This is the fourth book in this series. They are good cozy reads. However this one has a mixup in names. So watch out for that. Lol. Otherwise good cozy mystery.

Reading this book was like watching the chase scene in Scooby Doo where everyone is running around like chickens with their heads cut off. It gave me a headache and I wanted to tell all the characters to sit down and be quiet.

This book was very confusing and while I finished it, I did not enjoy it. I have read many cozy mysteries but this is the first written by the author. I will read another one of her novels to see if it is just that I do not click with her style of writing or this particular book.

After 4 chapters I stopped reading. The snark/nagging/judgements/exchanges with the main character and her ghost mother was so painful.
Add in the exchange between her children and I was ready to burn my kindle. Instead decided to go to book 5.

Messy

I have read other books by Ava previously and enjoyed them, this book however seemed jumpy, confusing and I’m still not convinced I know what happened in the grave yard. The 3 previous books in this series have been really good but unfortunately this one wasn’t for me

Retired but not forgotten

Poor Mariana. Her Mother, daughter, life, family etc. are completely out of control. As is her case. It made me crazy just reading it.

I think the author was trying for snarky-but-loving banter. She didn't achieve it. It was just really annoying sniping between our inept heroine, her ghost mother, and the annoying familiar, Lola.

Lifes Out of control mum and a sassy familiar

For some reason I just couldn't get into this book. I read to get away from being an life's out of control mum so having a character like Mariana just didn't do it for me.
