I started this one during our trip to Canada. The author discusses what makes a mountain, describes a morning walk up one of the mountains near his home, mountain creation, how we use mountains, etc. It gets very technical sometimes, but you can read through the dfficult stuff and still understand what he is talking about.
I found it interesting that, in a book written in 1978, he talks about the impending destruction of the "Old Man of the Mountain" in New Hampshire, which did fall May 3, 2003.
After he got past the science stuff, the book was very easy to read and enjoyable. You can tell that the author really does enjoy the mountains A LOT, in all seasons and for all purposes.
He talks about snow, and leaves changing colors, flora and fauna, avalanches and weather, and the near spiritual experience that comes from visiting the mountains.
If you are a mountain lover, this is one you should pick up for yourself.
