This combined release of books 1-3 is a fantastic treat! You will be wanting the next book NOW; to find out what happens next to Ever and her friends (or are some frenemies). Although this series is YA, I guarantee adults will enjoy this too.

Victoria Danann has another hit series! Gods from diverse cultures strip their children (players) of their memories and withhold the rules of the game which begins at the age of sixteen when the players are transferred to R. Caine High School. This combined release of books 1-3 is a fantastic treat! You will be wanting the next book NOW; to find out what happens next to Ever and her friends (or are some frenemies). Although this series is YA, I guarantee adults will enjoy this too.

I never like writing to much info in a review as I don’t want to give away things in the book.
Victoria Danann is an amazing author who can transport you to other worlds and dimensions with her fantastic writing.
I have read many of Victoria Danann books and have always enjoyed them. I wasn’t sure how this series was going to go but I must admit I was very pleasantly surprised. The detail and research into parts of this book must have taken ages. The more I read of this book the more hooked I became as the book mentions many things I’m interested in.
I thoroughly enjoyed it and am looking forward to the next instalment.
If you like Victoria’s other books I do recommend giving this series a try. You maybe as surprised as I was.

This series is a departure into YA fantasy for this author. The Gods have devised a game using Odin and Freya’s daughter, as a main player. It is up to the players to determine the game and how to play. Loki, the mischief maker, is true to form and keeps things interesting. The players are not familiar with their true forms and must work as high school sophomores. It was a pleasure to watch friendships form and grow with this group. There’s a budding romance and plenty of teenage brooding. It appears the Gods were not specific in their game plan and made omissions. Fortunately, Loki was around to hilariously point out their failures. Such a fun book set that will keep the reader hanging on eagerly for the next installment. Game on!

R. Caine High School, book 1-3 is a great beginning to a new series. This book is aimed at YA readers, but it’s such a great story that any age will love it. Victoria Danann comes up with such fun and unique stories that just keeps me coming back. These high school kids that are really children of the gods, are funny, smart and kept me guessing at what will happen to them next. This was a very entertaining story with lots of twists and turns and crazy occurrences. Who are the good guys and who aren’t? I don’t have a clue on who will win this game, which just adds to the suspense and anticipation for the next books. I can’t wait.

Was very impressed with this book as I am not one foe YA, but Ms. Danann has a way with works and her characters draw you into the story. Love that the God's put their offspring just a place and they need to find out how to handles things. Can't wait for the next book to see when it will take us

There are a couple of things I should say here:
1. If you’re looking for a synopsis of the book, look elsewhere. I don’t do that but I will tell you a little bit about the book.
2. If you are expecting a YA book (I think that’s how this one is classified) then look elsewhere.
a. High school sophomores are not adults.
b. Point a. doesn’t matter because this is a mythology book, complete with gods and magic and stuff that is set at a high school.
c. I don’t read YA books and I’ve read all three of these.

I got through with this one quickly because I cheated… sort of. I’ve been in this series from the beginning and initially books 1 and 2 were released separately. I only had to find the end of book 2 and start reading from there. Now that I’ve done that, I might go back and start over, just to catch up.

So, you might say, if I don’t read YA books, why did I start this series? If you have to ask, I’ll direct you to the cover where you will find “Victoria Danann” in pretty bold letters, right? ‘Nuff said. I read her books even when technically I should not like them and this is an example. As I stated above, this is more like mythology but using a high school setting, but then it is more than just that.

In fact, this book(s) series is different from the author’s usual books in that there is no “end” to them. Well, that’s how it was except we find out this isn’t nearly the end of the series… yay! for us readers! In this 3-book series, I think it just flows right through and then it stops – it doesn’t end, it stops. But it stops in such a way as to make you want books 4 – 6 NOW. Or maybe that’s just me because I’m “just a little” impatient but then I defy you not to be the same way with this one.

So the bottom line is this: Whatever you think you know about what to expect… you’re wrong. Whatever you think you know of the author’s writing pattern... wrong again.
Well, not exactly because this is classic Victoria Danann: well written, polished, and a good story told in a great manner. That doesn’t change with her. Do I sound biased? You betcha! I’ve read all of her books and some things don’t change and that’s a good thing – well, that might not be true, completely. If it’s possible, her writing has improved over the years and that’s just awesome!

Buy it. Read it. You’ll be glad you did.

R. Caine High School is a page turner for sure. Each one of these three YA books gives you a bit more information about the game and the players. It is exciting to watch it unfold as you discover each new card right along with Ever. This feels like the groundwork is being laid out or almost like a warm up. I am ready for the game to start. The characters each have their own personalities that you can totally see and understand. You can picture the scenery in your mind without over drawn out descriptions. Never thought I would say I am looking to more high school, but here I am ready for more. Ha ha.

Imagine a story that unfolds just as game does - setting the scene, getting scents bits of information, the reader or player figuring out the game plan only to be surprised, enthralled and delighted as new information comes to light? This is what reading this series is like and even more entertaining if you have some knowledge about Norse gods. And if you are a consortium conspiracy theorist, this book will grab you even more as that is the underlying theme to the series. Throw in young bright minds, a little bit of romance and some hotness and sparks and you have a winning combination!

If Victoria Danann writes it; I'll read it! She's so talented at world building and this is no exception to that statement. Take a handful of teenagers, add not only the usual angst, but throw in that the gods of the universe have decreed-in their usual 'lets see how the universe handles this' way; and you get R.Caine HS. I love that the 1st 3 are packaged together. Can't wait to see what happens next!

I love Norse mythology and couldn’t wait to read this new young adult series by Victoria Danann. I have read new adult books before but a lot of the time I find them too juvenile, this series is not like that. It is an adventure suitable for all ages. The stories had all the usual amazing characters, intrigue and adventure but also Norse gods, myths, heroes and places included. I thoroughly enjoyed it and can’t wait to read the next instalment.

What an amazing read its nothing like I was expecting it to be as I've read all of Victoria's other work. It's a captivating read that pulls you in as if your there along side them from the first chapter to the last with lots of twists/tricks and mischief. Whatever your age you won't be disappointed reading this series.

Holding hands is how you make babies

I’m so used to Danann’s novels being lengthy and keeping me awake for two days in a row. At least these gave me a chance to be a productive member of society and still get my fix. Merc and Gaga will be the characters that keep me in this series. I laughed out loud at Merc’s antics before I knew I was supposed to. And Gaga’s Aawwwwwww followed by embarrassing comments reminds me of family. I loved this!

Omg what a great set.
R. Caine High School is not your ordinary High School.
It is now a game board of the Gods..With their children as the players..
But their children don't know it is a high stakes game. Stripped of their powers and their memories as well. Good and evil forces are also in play.
Awesome reads..Can't wait for the next few books...

Victoria's R. Caine series made me long to return to high school. Seriously! Nothing like meddling gods with too much time to get things stirred up. Definitely on my keeper shelf.

As if High School was not nightmareish enough, now let's put you in a game. No you do not get to know the rules, or who else is playing, or even what exactly losing means. Yep, sounds entertaining. For Me, and You. Not so much for the players. This book does not make little adults of sixteen year old kids, it does show how a sixteen year old may tackle a problem totally unlike a 40 year old, even the same person 26 years later (did I do tthatt math right?). I totally enjoyed the slow draw out of the details, I had read parts one and two before, but I like this format better, although I see why in the YA category it may make more sense to "serialize" the novel. Absolutely delightful, lighter hearted (meaning NO heavy romance) reading. Just what I needed. Thanks again Victoria, I love your work!

Ever Moore thought that nothing could be worse than walking into a new high school ... that is, until she finds out that she's an involuntary participant in a game designed to amuse the gods. The consequences of losing aren't fun and the reward for winning are 3 wishes but what are the rules, who are the players, what are their special talents and what happens when a player gets eliminated? When Ever finds out that her new bestie Galalia Endor is also a player in the game, they form an alliance and are joined by fellow student Jean Marre Montreuil. Ever's team needs every advantage they can get to win the game but will it be enough?

R. Caine High School is a funny, action-packed and drama-filled story full of twists and turns that will suck you in. I can't wait to read The Magician, The Wheel of Fortune, and The Runes, the next 3 books in the series.

This is the start of a brand new YA Fantasy series from Victoria Danann. Centred around a group of students who aren’t quite what they seem.
It transpires that the Gods are playing a game & using their children (in human form) as their pawns.
Ever Moore and her friend Gaga are very clever and have begun to work out the rules of the game, with help from Jean Marre and Mercury Ryder.
This is a very enjoyable series, full of funny banter between all the characters.
I cannot wait for the next instalment.

The Gods are bored so why not devise a high stakes game and use your children as the players? Oh and don't tell the kids they are part of the game or what the rules are! As Ever and her friends start to solve the mystery of who the players are and what the stakes will be, we as the readers are right there with them watching the game enfold. This is a very enjoyable read with characters you will will definitely recognize and relate to from your own high school experience. I am looking forward to the next books in the series!

Suspenseful!

Wow! For a Ya Book, this is some deep plot! And a hidden meaning behind every corner! I hate mystery so this is not my cup of tea, but I can't wait to see what happens, which is why I hate mysteries! The characters are great, lots of description. The back and forth between Asgard and earth is a bit hard to follow, but if you pay close attention it works. You almost need Gaga's board to keep some of the players straight! All in all, a different style for Ms. Danann, but will look forward to the next part! Good read!

I am not a big fan of the YA genre but I am a big fan of Victoria Danann so I gave it a try. I was hooked from page 3. The characters jump out and grab you before you even know what the story is about. I cannot wait to see how this story progresses for Ever Moore and her friends. I will be sharing this story with all my fellow readers AND their kids. If you are undecided give it a chapter. You will be hooked!

Having the first 3 books in the series makes reading so much more fun. I haven't read a YA book for a while but of course with Victoria Danann writing I couldn't pass it up. It was interesting and not what I was expecting. I love the story line of Ever. This is a great series for all ages to enjoy..

Ok, I didn’t love this. It was just ok. I did like the banter between the characters. It was highly amusing. I didn’t like the pace and the development of the story. I know it is building, but after 3 books I feel like it’s missing a big reveal at the end of each book. It’s kind of all the same. No ups and downs, just a constant hum.

This was very slow getting to the plot. I'd say that all 3 of these books are just prequel to the action of the series. I was not impressed. It was free on Kindle Unlimited, and I din't entirely hate the story or characters, but I wasn't that into it, either. Very meh.

Always a good read

I haven't read a Victoria Danann book I didn't like. This particular series is for teens but enjoyed it as an adult.
She grabs you and you are sucked into the story.

The first three books are now available as a bundle which is wonderful news. The books are hard to put down. This is a great YA series which captures the torture that is high school. In addition to the ordinary angst of being a teenager, Ever has to deal with the newfound knowledge that she it’s part of the game organized by the gods for their amusement (perhaps that’s true for all of us). Not only is she not supposed to know she’s in a game but she’s not told the rules or Who are the other players. The Norse gods that are looking out for her are willing to cheat a bit and send her a little help. She is also looking to become best friends with Gaga Who is an expert on the Tarot which gives further insight into the game and its players. And then there is the sexy Jean Marie and the strange Mercury Who seem to be her allies. Still she has to work out who Might be her enemies and if there are ways to bend the rules of the game.

This is a very enjoyable series. I can’t wait for the next three books.
