The Curse of the Fallen #2

Steel: Constant Craving

Rate this book
My past defines me.
I will always be looking over my shoulder and fighting the demons that haunt my nightmares.
I will always be one step away from the scourge of addiction.
One step away from them.

Steel Fallon is everything I love... almost.
He wants me. He craves me. He’s addicted... to me.
n one night, I gave in and let myself fly.
I was high, higher than I’d ever been.
I trusted him. I loved him. I left him.
I walked out of Steel’s life and back into the nightmares of my past. And while I scream for salvation, my heart begs for mercy, but it will never come.
**Please note**This series must be read in order, and although each book is about a different couple, the four books in the series continue to follow the lives of Flynn, Steel, Clay and Knox and their partners.

Steel: Constant Craving by Julie Anne Addicott is book two of four in the Curse of the Fallen series. This is a story about love and the struggle to overcome your past. Having both lived through addiction they can either be each other’s greatest hope or the cause of their downfall into despair.

Ember is passionate, willful, caring, and mysterious. She’s running from something in her past and her secrets keep her from getting too close to anyone. She’s stronger than even she knows, but if her past catches up with her can she survive the darkness that tries to consumes her.

Steel is protective, confident, attractive, and has an amazing sense of humor. He is not afraid to go after what he wants when he sets his sights on something. He is cursed to always crave more, but more is never enough to satisfy him.

After meeting Ember and getting a taste of her, Steel knows he can never let her go. If only it was as easy to convince her of that. With every look and caress the fire burns brighter between them but Ember isn’t ready to give in. The memory of her past is still haunting her thoughts. She tries to deny the chemistry they share but as the angst builds will either of them ever be the same after it explodes.

They’re both hiding things from each other. When Ember’s past gets it’s claws back in her can she break free or will she succumb to the shadows. Can Steel step up and be her savior or will temptation be too much and his cravings take over. When all their secrets come out who will be left standing?

One of my favorite things is that it’s written with multiple POVs to give us a very well rounded view of the story. We get to see the motivations for secondary characters that gives us insight and makes a scene feel more realistic. The characters vulnerability, flawed souls, passion, and sass endeared them to me so much so that they were branded on my heart forever. All of Addicott’s characters have so much depth, I couldn’t help but to pick favorites and fall for them a little more with each page. There are lots of swoon worthy moments between more than just the main characters. I absolutely loved how gritty and dark some parts get. They have you holding on for dear life, yet somehow they don’t bring down the tone of the story; it just makes the readers emotions heightened as they continue. Their passion burns brightly and sets the pages aflame. Each kiss secretly begging for more. The vivid details help to bring the story and characters to life. She writes emotions so beautifully you get dragged into the chaos.

I got swept up in the adventure and never let go. The twists take you on a rollercoaster of emotions with not a dull moment. The imagery created envelops you and truly sucks you into a scene. The pacing is great and all the elements seamlessly blend together. A deliciously addictive read it kept me begging for more at each turn. I would suggest reading Flynn first to get the full background of the story. I’d recommend this to anyone who enjoys paranormal romances and people with shattered souls finding their redemption in love.

***BEST BOOK OF 2018***

This is not your average PNR novel. In this second book of the Curse of the fallen Addicott has proved that with each book she writes she just gets better. This is her best work yet and I'm not sure she can top it.

Steel: Constant Craving is the story of the second Fallon brother. Steel is cursed with addiction and craving and his harpie, Indiya is on his back pushing him into alcohol, drugs, and anything else he can get his hands on.

Ember is new to the valley and to Fallon Worldwide and is running away from her past. A past she's keeping secret, but the way Addicott writes givews you enough information to know something is up. I can't go into too much detail without giving away spoilers, but I'll say there are some shocking developments in this book that affect all of the characters I came to love in Flynn's story.

Pros: The detail and story line in this book is beyond amazing. I am truly in awe of the Addicott's mind works. It's like nothing I've read before.

The information and details and backstory of the supporting characters is something rarely done in books, but in Steel, each character has something to add, including the bad and badder, bad guys.

The way the addiction is handled in this book blew me out of the water. As a recovering addict I could literally feel every moment of Steel's and Ember's struggles as though they were my own. Props to Addicott for not glorifying drug use, and for showing it as it really is. A curse.

The introduction of a new character I can already see will be crucial to the next book was a welcome surprise and I can't wait to read more.

Kailey - Let me just say she is the quirkiest, brattiest, loveliest character I've read. Where can I get me one of her? She's a breath of fresh (purple) air in the fallon house and I hope there's more of her to come.

Cons: There were a few scenes where I had to put the book down and take a breather purely because of how realistic they were.

For selfish reasons I would have liked this one to be longer. I didn't want it to end.

Overall:
Steel is by far THE BEST novel Addicott has written. I began following her back in late 2016 and I'm surprised at how much she's grown as an author. If you love fallen angels, PNR, and even contemp. romance, you'll enjoy this series. While it is PNR and there is obviously alot of focus on angels, there's also a very real and human side to this story that shows how addiction can destroy not only the addicts life, but everyone else's life around them.

Addicott is such a talented author and poet. I can never get enough of her writing.

Steel was so damn good and different. Angels, curses, furies, romance, passion, action, suspense and mystery. I read this cover to freaking cover, devoured this word for freaking word.

AND THAT COVER!

I can't wait for the rest of the Fallon brothers, Flynn and Steel rocked my damn world.
This series just keeps getting better and better.
Addicott's writing is real, heartfelt and palpable. I didn't just read an incredible story, I lived it!

Not to sure how to review this one because it was so much better than anything i've read previously by this author and any author truthfully. Five stars doesn't seem enough to do this brilliant story justice. What i loved, the detail taken to describe addiction without glossing over it and glorifying it.
I loved Steel more than I loved Flynn, did not see that coming.
Then there's Ember who is desperate to escape a dark past but it catches up with her and tears her life apart. This book is dark and gritty. There's some rough scenes of torture and violence but they only add to the realism of the story and suck you right into the world of the Fallon's and the Fray.

What I didn't like, I wanted this book to be longer. I have so many questions I hope are answered in the following books. I want to see more of Steel and Ember (Bella)

Can someone who carries the curse of Addiction find love? And if he does will it be destroyed under the weight of his cravings or will it give him the strength to fight his way free?

Let's start with a quick flashback - In the first book we journeyed with Flynn and Autumn (Sigh..) they are prominent in book two along with Roman (yes that Roman) - Sparks ignite old 🔥flames causing Autumn to question her decisions

Steel - our sexy 'addiction cursed' Playboy is about to find out just how far he will go to rid himself of his little harpie and to obtain the coveted jewel Ember he has so desperately been courting.
Carter - his job is to protect Ember - at no time is he allowed to entertain any thoughts of having her - but will he be able to control his desires? Will she?
Ember has escaped from her past and found a new home and life among the people at Fallon industries. She feels safe and is enjoying the new found freedoms life has granted her - until the past catches up with her. Will her choices made in a moment of regret cost her the one man that holds her heart? Will she be asked to sacrifice everything to protect him? Who is Samantha Rose?

There is so much going on in book two!
Secrets are revealed that will stagger your beliefs - Moments of depravity brought to you courtesy of our antagonists, that will steal your breath- all dotted with sprinkles of fun-filled nights loaded with debauchery and romance that will curl your toes.
We also are introduced to a couple new characters that we are yet to define - are they mythical troublemakers or miracles? What is in store for our family of fallen Fallon's in book three?
So many new twists to our tale - Angels with agendas - Mythical troublemakers - Babies?

I don't know where to begin with the review of this book it was absolutely AMAZING!!! This author first takes us into the world of Samantha thru flash backs and memories. Then we meet Steel. His curse is addiction. You name it he craves it. For some reason everyone thinks his curse is easy. . . their wrong. Samantha (now Ember) has plenty of secrets. Secrets which could cost them all their lives. Their story isn't a pretty one matter of fact it's ugly and violent. They were abused mentally and physically in their separate ways. They understood each other in a special way.

Man this story is intense. The first book in the series was good but has nothing on the intensity level of this read. Their story emotional and it stays that way to the very end. They have a special bond that is true to them alone and they will never abandon each other. It's an amazing read and so different from book one.

It just keeps getting better and better! Steel and Ember's story is just as powerful and enthralling as Flynn and Autumn's. I love how there are multiple POVs as it makes the story and characters three dimensional. This story grips you and pulls you in so you feel as if you are living the story along with the characters. You feel their struggles, their heartache and happiness.

This story appeals to longtime paranormal readers or those that are just starting out. It is a beautifully written story!!

I could not put this down. Ember’s story had me hooked from the start...her turmoil and tragedy makes her the perfect female part to Steel and the way she undoubtedly loves brings a bit of affection just when you need it. Steel battles his own demons. I loved learning more about how Roman fit in and how this story still entwined even more of Autumn and Flynn to develop that story even more.

This book is captivating and just like Flynn, the first book in this series, the writing is great and the story is amazing! The author created a fantastic world full of angels, curses, secrets, mystery and an intense love story. Ember and Steel have a crazy, intense chemistry that pulls them to each other. Steel is cursed with addiction and Ember is running from her past but together they are perfect for each other. I can't wait to read the next book in The Curse of The Fallen series.

Grab the tissues because this woman is a wizard of tears and will make your eyes leak over and over.

I loved this book and the amount of raw emotion she’s able to pull from you with words is so expertly executed. I feel what she needs me to feel in every moment, and not all authors can do that!

This story was number two in the series and I loved that we also got moments from Flynn and autumn included throughout the story. It’s weaved so perfectly so nothing is lost and everything makes sense.

I cannot wait to get to Knox’s book. He’s definitely become my favorite in the series.

Ok, my mind it totally blown. There were so many secrets revealed in this book that shocked me. The storyline kept me guessing the whole way through. I love these characters so much. Steel and Ember lived such tortured lives it was painful to read some times. I wanted to fix it all for them. I'm not usually a PNR reader and this series has got me completely hooked!

This story focuses on Steel, a fallen angel, and his punishment at the hands of a fury. The writer creates an amazing world incorporating humans, angels, demons and other paranormal folk; weaving them together yet hiding the paranormals in plain sight of us mere mortals. Steel's addictions at the hands of his curse from Indiya not only imbalance his daily life, but hamper his efforts to woo Ember, the love interest in this story. Not your typical good vs. evil story, the characters are all a bit of both. It is a whirlwind adventure and honestly even better than book 1. Can Steel find victory over his own demons and Embers? This book is in my re-read list forever. I cannot wait to see what happens to the other Fallon brothers as this series progresses. Thank you so much Julie for sharing your vision.

This is the second book in the series, and once again Julie Anne Addicott absolutely killed it! The emotions that this book gave me, are out of this world! I read it within two days, and was so upset it was over! Flynn, from the first book, was my favorite. Now, I'm not so sure! Because of this book, and the first one, I am obsessed with the paranormal romance genre! If you haven't read this book yet, you're really missing out!
