Jenny has always dreamed of getting married at America's most sought-after wedding destination, Heart's Landing. But when she finally visits the lovely little town, she's there to make wedding plans for her cousin, who happens to be a famous movie star. To keep the event a secret from the media, Jenny has to pretend to be the bride. Unfortunately for Jenny, planning the wedding turns out to be much more complicated than she thought.

A Simple Wedding by Leigh Duncan is a delightful and heartwarming romance that Hallmark fans are sure to enjoy. Readers will fall in love with Jenny and empathize with her as she goes above and beyond for her bridezilla cousin Kay. Jenny is grateful to her aunt for raising her after the death of her parents and feels like it's her duty to help her cousin. I didn't care for Kay's character, however, the ending made me warm to her a little bit. Nick and Jenny shared a lot of the same qualities, and I thought they had great chemistry. I look forward to the second book and can't wait to spend more time in Heart's Landing with all these wonderful characters. If you enjoy sweet, feel-good stories, then you really can't go wrong with books or movies from Hallmark. As an added treat, a delicious recipe is included at the end of the book.

I received an ARC from Hallmark Publishing through NetGalley. The opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

Where are all my Hallmark fans? This book was the perfect Hallmark movie, I saw it play out in my mind between the pages of this book. I wanted to go get married at Heart's Landing so bad. The romance the scenery was all so magical. I hated for the book to end. Sadly it's a fast read and you will sit and read until the very end once you start reading it.
Grab your copy of this 5 star read and enjoy your time in Heart's Landing. If you are like me you will never want to leave.

Jenny feels indebted to her cousin Kay, a famous movie star. So, when her cousin gets engaged, Jenny is given the task of arranging the wedding - every single phase of it. Kay is desperate to avoid media involvement. So, Jenny is to do this in a top-secret fashion, and must pretend to be the bride-to-be. What's more is that the wedding is to be arranged at Jenny's dream wedding location, Heart's Landing. Despite her strong sense of duty, Heart's Landing is her dream, and she must give that up to please her cousin.

One of the vendors Jenny contacts is Nick, the town's superb baker. Nick is rather confused about his visceral reaction to Jenny. After all, in a relatively short while, she will be walking down the aisle and will become another man's wife.

Nick and every single member of the town - from the florist, to the caterers, and in between, fall in love with Jenny. Her spirit is so sweet and undemanding - at first. However, behind the scenes Jenny's cousin keeps asking for changes and something simple turns out to be anything but.

As lovable as Jenny was, Kay was her polar opposite. I cringed every time Jenny took a call from her cousin. Meanwhile, the romance blooming between Nick and Jenny was a very slow burn, especially considering the fact that Nick felt in his heart that Jenny was totally off-limits.

This sweet romance by Leigh Duncan was a very nice read. Heart's Landing was an idyllic place with wonderful secondary characters involved. I look forward to reading Cottage Wedding when it is released.

Many thanks to Hallmark Publishing and InkSlinger PR for this ARC for review. This is my honest opinion.

How would you feel if you quite literally bump into the man of dreams and had to pretend to be unavailable? That is what happened to Jenny Longley when she bumps into Nick Bell in Heart’s Landing. She’s there to plan her movie star cousin’s wedding pretending she is the bride in order to keep the paparazzi from ruining their big day. She’s drawn to Nick because he makes her feel things she’s never felt before and it’s hard for her to keep her secret. Nick feels it too and finds it hard to remember that she’s a true Heart’s Landing bride and engaged to another man. But things don’t add up quite right with Jenny. She’s too amiable with the changes she makes and her fiancé Bob is sounding like a real jerk. A Simple Wedding isn’t so simple when the movie star turns into a bridezilla and Jenny is too accommodating. This is a delightful plot-driven story that was predictable in its outcome, but nonetheless easy to read and enjoy. I loved the characters and the town of Heart’s Landing and would love to see more stories in that wedding destination location.

A city totally dedicated to making the brides dream come true.
Heart's Landing has shops and streets with names suggestive wedding, as Tux or Tails; Honeymoon Avenue; I Do Cakes, etc.

Jennifer "Jenny" Longley was a personal assistant to her cousin, a great Hollywood actress, Karolyn Karter.
When Kay falls in love with another Hollywood star and decides to get married in a hurry, Jenny takes care of planning the ceremony at Heart's Landing.
In fact, this has always been Jenny's own dream, but when her cousin "stole" her idea, for being grateful to be raised by Kay's mother, after her parents' death, she embraces the idea.
However, in order for the information not to appear in the newspapers, Jenny should act as if it were her own wedding

The city was a dream, the people were kind, but one of the merchants in particular was very interested in Jenny.

Nick Bell was the owner of I Do Cakes, which he had inherited from his father.
Despite being always involved in making others' dreams come true, Nick has not yet been lucky to find his great love.
But then Jenny appears in the city wanting to organize her wedding with Tom (or Bob), which makes Nick feel torn between maintaining his professional side and being completely attracted to another man's bride.
However, as the day of the ceremony arrives, some surprises (not so pleasant) cause the secret to surface and what could be great news, hurts the best people who had ever appeared in Jenny's life.

A totally Hallmark-style film/book, a lot of romance, a hint of comedy and a happy ending to make you sigh..

This is exactly what I was looking for when I wanted to read romance in February. Jenny has always wanted to get married in Heart's Landing. She has shared this with her cousin who is also a famous movie star and her boss. When she decides to have a secret and fast wedding she grabs a cancellation in Heart's Landing and dispatches Jenny to plan the wedding for her. The only catch is that Jenny has to pretend she is the bride. With her cousin constantly changing her mind, Jenny and the vendors in Heart's Landing don't know how they are going to pull this off. Throw in the fact that Jenny is extremely attracted to the local cake maker and he secretly feels the same, things become a bit difficult and stilted. What will happen when Nick finds out that Jenny is not the Heart's Landing bride?

A Simple Wedding was a delightful Hallmark romance that romance lovers will enjoy. I felt so bad for Jenny. She just wanted to make her cousin's wedding wonderful, but with Bridezilla to work with, she was spinning her wheels. Watching this shy, quiet young woman come out of her shell and learn to stand up for herself was wonderful. Nick was wonderful. He knew he was attracted to Jenny, but did not let her know his feelings because she was taken. He was so kind and would do whatever he had to do to make Jenny's wedding special. Of course, this is a Hallmark romance so you know there will be a happy ending, but the journey to get there is very enjoyable. Karissa Vacker was another new narrator to me. She had a pleasant voice, her narration was expressive and I enjoyed listening to this one.

A Simple Wedding by Leigh Duncan is a sweet, heartfelt, feel-good, romance that is the beginning of a new series. It is everything a “Hallmark Romance” should be.

Heart’s Landing is an adorable community and I really think it could be a great setting for many novels to come.

I really enjoyed the plot. I liked Jenny and I thought that she and Nick had great chemistry. I enjoyed the curveballs thrown their way on their path to finding each other. I am not a fan of “Bridezillas”, so I am glad that everything worked out in the end.

I am excited to hear that there will be follow-ups and I look forward to finding out how things goes.

5/5 stars

Thank you NetGalley and Hallmark Publishing for this ARC and in return I am submitting my unbiased and voluntary review and opinion.

I am posting this review to my GR and Bookbub accounts immediately and will post it to my Amazon and B&N accounts upon publication.

This is definitely a feel good read. You'll have to leave your logic at the door for some of this. For example the relationship between Jenny and her cousin is odd. They are supposedly closer than sisters and blah, blah which makes what Kay does to Jenny at the end make no sense whatsoever. Who would leave someone out that is supposedly the closest person to her? She treats Jenny as an employee, not a close family member. Also the love story is a big contrived and the reactions from Jenny when Nick doesn't go for her... duh he thinks she is getting married, is a bit far fetched. She should be happy he has morals. Other than those bothersome points, I actually loved the book. Like I said you need to leave your logic at the door and just "feel" the story. It would make a very lovely Hallmark movie in the hands of the right actors.

A Simple Wedding was a sweet romantic story about Jenny and Nick.

Jenny is an assistant to her cousin who is an actress. Her cousin talks her into going to Heart Landing to help her plan her wedding but the catch is she is going there to plan the wedding as if it is her own so no one will know it's actually for her famous actress cousin. But she didn't expect to run into Nick the cute and very easy on the eyes baker.

Nick runs the local shop called I do cakes. He does all the Heartland Wedding cakes. He takes a liking to Jenny. There was an instant spark between them but will everything work out when Jenny tells him the truth.

There was alot of side characters throughout the story who help make sure the brides day is special.

I have enjoyed this story so much that I can't wait to read Jason's story in A Cottage Wedding and see how the story unfolds.

Jenny and Nick make a cute couple. Jenny, a true Heart’s Landing Bride, handles her celebrity cousin’s constant plan-changes like a pro, but doesn’t put her foot down and stand up for herself. It is often frustrating but the dilemma she finds herself in due to her determination to placate her cousin provides a fun little Hallmark-perfect story. I think Nick is my favorite. He is just a great person who keeps a cool head and delivers great advice. He recognizes Jenny as a true Heart’s Landing Bride but picks up on her lack of attachment to Bob-Tom as he pushes away his attraction to her and designs her wedding cake with short-notice and ever-changing requirements.... whew, see if you can follow along with all of that! It is a fun little story set in a cute little town that I can’t wait to revisit through other Heart’s Landing books!

This book should come with a warning. First of all, the descriptions of the wedding cakes hero Nick bakes may make you hungry. Secondly, after a bit of a slow start, the story becomes so engaging that you’re likely to lose sleep because you simply MUST see how it ends. Leigh Duncan’s first Heart’s Landing book is a winner!

This is a sweet book. Jenny is sent to Heart's Landing to plan her movie star cousin's wedding. While pretending to be the bride, she meets the local baker, Nick. There's an instant attraction between the two, but neither are allowed to act on it due to the fake engagement.

When Jenny's cousin keeps making changes, the local store owners enlist Nick to keep Jenny from changing all of the wedding plans again. The more time they spend together, the more the attraction grows.

I enjoyed this book. My one issue was Jenny's relationship with her cousin, Kay. Even though Jenny is her personal assistant, I always felt that Jenny could give her some tough love. Kay is extremely selfish. She doesn't seem to appreciate any of the work that Jenny has done to pull together an amazing wedding in an extremely short amount of time. At one point in the book, Kay decides that she wants to change the location of the rehearsal dinner only a couple of days before the event. She acts as if it's no big deal. She then has the nerve to ask Jenny if she can get a refund from the first restaurant.

I am not always an emotional reader; however, when I am that book sticks with me. I went into this thinking it would be like a traditional Hallmark setup, with certain things happening at certain percentages, and in some ways that did happen.

Duncan was able to craft characters that I felt so deeply about that I become INVESTED. There were a few points through the book that I felt so strongly that I would have thrown the book if it wouldn't have been an ebook arc from Netgalley. The characters immediately stuck and I felt their sense of presence throughout the story. Heart's Landing is crafted with such care that you are immediately immersed in this setting and finding yourself wanting to be a Heart's Landing Bride.

This was a ballpark book for me and I am hoping the little teaser in the back means this will become a series. If so, I am HERE FOR IT! This book kept me hanging on all the way until the very end. (Also, I would like to apologize to my best friend for the string of gif messages as I was finishing this up today.)

What an adorable love story. I loved the idea behind this story from the very start. Jenny's dream is to get married at the sought after Heart's Landing. But this is one wedding that isn't for her. She's there to help plan a wedding for her cousin, who's a movie star. Needing to keep things private, Jenny isn't above playing the bride. There's just one problem, planning someone else's wedding is harder than it should be.

I love Jenny and Nick. I love who they are as a couple and who they are as individuals. I loved getting lost in this fantastic story. I'm new to Leigh Duncan, but I loved this story from start to finish. I loved getting lost in the idea behind this story. I honestly can't wait for the next book in this amazing series.

I really enjoyed this well-written, clean, HEA sweet romance set in the wonderfully romantic Heart’s Landing. I appreciated Nick’s honor and restraint, but felt bad that it took so long for them to finally be together — mainly because all of Jenny and Nick's interactions were based on a lie. It wasn't malicious, but could have been fixed earlier.

This is a first time read of this author for me, but I look forward to reading more!

I received a free copy, and would honestly recommend this book.

A Simple Wedding
Leigh Duncan
A very sweet romance with lots of twist and turns. Your dreams and heart has always been set on a wedding at Hearts Landing, and you know what you want, except the plans are for someone else. Love the story and the characters , both are well written. If you love a good Hallmark story , then you will love A Simple Wedding. Things gets a little crazy when the bride keeps changing things around, but she is the bride.
I was given a complimentary ARC copy of this book. All opinions are my own.

I think I would have enjoy the movie better, overthinking , doormat h likable H, hated the cousing . i can't understand why the h had only one small conversation with her aunt and didn't try to control the situation with her cousin.
IMO she could have just reason with her I do it with my boss all the time and we are not blood related imagine doing it with thee person who grew up with you. at the end the author tried to redeemed the cousin ,but for me it was a little too late.

This takes place during the summer in Rhode Island. This about a woman helping her cousin, a famous actress, plan her wedding by pretending the wedding is for herself. There is humor and romance and new friendship and cake. The story is told by Nick and Jenny. I had a feeling it would end the way it did, but I still enjoyed the story.

I skipped through so much of this book. It was so much navel gazing and repetition. The plot was implausible based on a ridiculous ruse and Jenny’s aunt and cousin were just cruel to her. Maybe brides-to-be will enjoy it more than I did.

I received an ARC of Leigh Duncan's A Simple Wedding for an honest review. A Simple Wedding was the first book that I have read by Leigh Duncan and I can truly say that I loved the book. It was a wonderful romantic story. The story, the characters and the setting were incredible. Leigh Duncan showed that she is a wonderful storyteller. A Simple Wedding is the story of Jenny Longley, personal assistant and cousin to a Hollywood mega superstar and Nick Bell, owner and baker of I Do Cakes. Jenny's cousin, Karolyn "Kay" Karter just got engaged to her co star Chad Grant and Jenny's next assignment is to arrange a small intimate wedding for Kay and Chad in Heart's Landing, the same location that Jenny dreamed where she would one day get married. The only catch is that Jenny cannot say that she is planning Kay and Chad's wedding, she has to pretend that it is her wedding that she is planning to her fake fiance Tom/Bob Cash. Jenny's parents died in a train wreck when she was a child and her mother's sister Maggie raised her. That is why Jenny feels obligated to do everything, as repayment to Aunt Maggie taking her in and for Kay always being there. Jenny and Nick first meet when Nick literally runs into Jenny as she stares at a horse draw carriage that is passing by covering her with a dozen of cupcakes he needed to deliver. Jenny is the consummate romantic and was dreaming about her own wedding and not Kay's. Jenny goes into the bakery to clean up and offer to pay for the ruined cupcakes. Denise, the counter girl told her it was all taken care of. Nick gives Denise orders that whatever Jenny wants is on the house. Jenny orders a cupcake, and she loves it. She sets up a cake tasting with Denise. Jenny starts to visit I Do Cakes daily for a cupcake and coffee and getting closer to Nick. Nick tells the other wedding merchants in Heart's Landing, that Jenny is a true Heart's Landing bride. So they all want to go out of their way to make all her dreams come true. Meanwhile, Kay is becoming a "Bridezilla". She changes the wedding size from fifty to two hundred fifty, the cake flavor, and the color scheme of the wedding. Jenny blames all the changes on her fiance, Bob and his mother. When Jenny questions Kay's demands, Kay challenges Jenny questioning her about whether or not Heart's Landing can handle her wedding. Jenny knows that the businesses Heart's Landing could not survive the negative from Kay if her wedding is not perfect. Nick falls in love with Jenny, a woman he believes is engaged to another man. The story is filled with bittersweet moments that I so enjoyed. I loved the friendship and romance between Jenny and Nick, how Nick does so many sweet things for Jenny, even though he thinks she can never be his. A surprise plot twist changes everything, and Jenny wonders what will happen to her relationship with her new "family" that she found in Heart's Landing, not to mention her Prince Charming. I loved the happily ever after. It was a perfect romance and I loved every page. The bonus is that there is a recipe for Lemon Bars at the end of the book. They sound delicious!

Jenny always dreamed of getting married at Heart’s Landing. But when she finally visits the charming small town, she’s there to make wedding arrangements for someone else: her cousin, who also happens to be her boss and a famous movie star. Her cousin wants a simple wedding, not a media circus. To keep the event top-secret, she’s talked her assistant Jenny into pretending she’s the one getting married.
Nick, a baker and lifelong resident of Heart’s Landing, is intrigued by this bride-to-be who starts visiting his bakery for sweet treats and conversation. It seems strange that her fiancé isn’t at least little involved with the wedding plans.
As Jenny tries to keep up with her fickle cousin’s ever-changing demands—which exasperate the florist, the caterer, and several other vendors—she tries to hide her attraction to Nick. Meanwhile, the people in town talk Nick into trying to distract Jenny with a sightseeing tour in order to keep her from changing her mind again. The more time Nick spends with Jenny, the harder it becomes to remind himself that she’s already spoken for.
Planning this wedding couldn’t be more complicated…and what will happen once the truth comes to light?

I enjoyed the main characters and secondary characters residing in Heart’s Landing, they brought personality to the town and made it feel alive. I felt for Jenny. Her cousin is a famous actress but a demanding, petulant and spoiled woman essentially. Jenny has unwittingly played a part in this by wanting to pay her Aunt back for taking her in and goes above and beyond in her role as her cousins personal assistant. And it is this sense of duty that finds Jenny in Heart’s Landing planning her dream wedding for someone else.
Quickly the wedding strays from her dream because of her cousins requests, something that confuses the residents who have come to know Jenny and believe she is a “True Heart’s Landing Bride”.
I was happy when Jenny finally found a backbone with her cousin, though I wish it had happened earlier in the book. It was uncomfortable reading Jenny be at war with herself.
The burgeoning relationship between Jenny and Nick is sweet, despite the illusion of Jenny’s absent fiancé. They share a love of cupcakes and pleasant friendship even though Nick finds himself attracted to someone else’s bride-to-be.
I didn’t enjoy the interactions between Jenny and her cousin. I felt like someone should have called her cousin out on her crap much sooner. I understand Jenny’s dedication to her family but the cost of it was high.
This is a fantastic read for those familiar with Hallmark movies. A sweet journey to a happy ever after with fun characters and a gorgeous setting is just the ticket for a slow Sunday read with a warm beverage and maybe a chocolate cupcake.

You can preorder get your copy here : https://www.amazon.com/Simple-Wedding... . This book will be released on March 10, 2020.

Leigh Duncan is a National Reader’s Choice Award winner and has written over two dozen novels. This book is the first book in the Heart’s Landing Series by Hallmark Publishing. This book did not disappoint in anyway! Not all of the Hallmark books turn to movies or vice versa. I am desperately hoping that this one makes it to the big screen! This book is complete with a Lemon Bar Recipe at the end and a sneak peak of the next book in the series, A Cottage Wedding, also by Leigh Duncan.
We begin this book with Nick Bell delivering a four-tiered pink cake to Captain’s Cottage. This “Cottage” is really a mansion on the coast of Rhode Island, just south of Newport. This house was made famous by a granddaughter marrying into the Rockefeller clan at this house. Nick had inherited I Do Cakes from his father and took pride in his cakes! He even guarded the cake from the moment of delivery to the time that every guest had received a piece, after a young ring bearer helped himself to a handful of frosting.
Jennifer Longley and Karolyn Karter (also known by Kay) are cousins, currently living in Beverly Hills. Jennifer’s cousin and Aunt took her in when her mother died. Kay is a Hollywood superstar. Jennifer has taken pride in helping her cousin get where she is on her career by fully supporting her in every way. Kay met the love of her life on the set of her current blockbuster movie, Two Hearts on the Run and it was love at first sight. Kay then tasks Jennifer with the daunting task of planning her wedding, anonymously. Jennifer must pose as the bride and plan the wedding, as if it were hers to avoid any paparazzi. Kay has chosen Heart’s Landing as her destination for her wedding. This would have been perfect, except this is where Jenny has always wanted her wedding. Jenny reluctantly sets off to Rhode Island to plan Kay’s wedding. Jenny not only has to plan the wedding but take the brunt of the hits when Kay unexpectedly changes her mind during the plans. We are taken on the adventure of planning a wedding from afar. There are many mishaps along the way and we are not disappointed with the ending! I cannot wait to read the second book in this series!
