Fritz Allhoff este profesor de filozofie la Western Michigan University, fiind specializat în etică aplicată – mai ales în domeniul biomedical și al războiului – dar și în etica teoretică și în filozofia dreptului. This is a collection of 19 essays written by philosophers, wine writers, and wine makers on 6 different themes in wine: the art and culture of wine, tasting and talking about wine, wine and its critics, the beauty of wine, wine and metaphysics, and the politics and economics of wine. It was much more philosophical than I had imagined it would be and a portion of it was over my head unfortunately. However, I really enjoyed the sections I understood and will try this book again down the road. I especially enjoyed the essays by Jamie Goode, Justin Weinberg and Matt Kramer. Randall Graham and Warren Winiarski's were also good.

After reading this book I am apt to think everything having to do with wine tasting, analysis and speaking about wine is a bunch of BS, but then I am quickly reminded of how certain people can identify wines when tasting them blindly and then I am convinced that wine tasting,analysis and communicating about wine cannot be BS if this can be done.

Ick. Heavy and unintersting. Some people think too much about simple things. Granted, I consider wine more than just a good drink, but this book is not worth the read.
