Successful and competent in the boardroom, engaged to an attractive and wealthy man, wealthy CEO, Rebecca Channing appears to have it all – or does she?
When she finds her fiancé in bed with her maid of honor two weeks before her wedding, she begins to question what it is she really wants out of life. As her mother reveals secrets from her past, she encourages Rebecca to escape the pressures of New York City society and reevaluate her life.
Traveling to the college town of Columbia, Missouri, Rebecca assumes another identity as Becky Clayton. There she meets Daniel Jankowski, a handsome but somewhat moody owner of a struggling construction company, and sparks fly between them. Too bad Becky’s new friend Taylor has her sights set firmly on Daniel. Knowing what it feels like to be betrayed, Becky fights her growing attraction to Daniel. Still hurt by a betrayal of his own, Daniel has sworn off relationships.
Will Daniel give love another chance, and if so, will it be with Taylor or Becky? If he chooses Becky, will her deceit about who she really is blow everything out of the water?

Trisha Messmer always had an obsession with reading, starting at the tender age of four (or so her mother told her).Finding some of the things she read lacking-or at least not ending the way she thought they should-she started making up her own stories. They lived within her vivid imagination for a long, long time until one day they broke free and put themselves on a page. Sometimes things really do take on a life of their own.She hopes you enjoy her musings as much as she enjoyed writing them, If they make you laugh, sigh, or even cry, she would love hearing about it. I really liked this story. The only thing that was hard for me was the fact that Daniel decided to use Taylor to make Becky jealous, even to the point of sleeping with her. Not fair to any of them. Other than that, it was an excellent story with a twist ending of Ed & Veronica!

What really stood out to me for the Bottom Line was the natural flow of the story. Some books have a lull mid-book. Messmer keeps the flow going from start to finish. What really sold me on the book was the supporting cast, notably Ed. There's also a fun twist at the end.
I did it backwards, I read book 2 first and enjoyed it so I found this book. I enjoyed this book very much. Becky and Daniel are great characters, well written and personable. Very easy to relate with. I enjoyed my Sunday morning curled into the chair with my coffee and this book!
I looked at this story as Cinderella in reverse. Little rich girl comes out of her ivory tower to meet a an average guy and they fall in love. Daniel and Becky were fun characters to follow.
