Living Spirits explores the various types of spirits which exist in Western Magic and how they can be approached in a world alive with their presence and power. Living Spirits invites readers to jump off the sidelines and reach deep into the rich soil of a magical world and explore its power and mysteries so as to apply them for the purposes of real and effective magic. The book explores the traditions of the grimoires but goes beyond that and explores spirit magic in a broader current based on building relationships with spirits.
The anything and everything of working with Spirits. I thought this book was wonderfully well flushed out, and that the material covered all the known spirits and then some. With that being said, the book is plagued with run-on sentences and improper punctuation, which is mainly why I gave it 4 stars. If you are anal about grammar, or dyslexic, you may want to pass this book bye. I would also note that this book seemingly felt as if it were for the intermediate to adept crowd, both because of the language and the level of detail in regards to the subject matter at hand. I would recommend this to non-beginners wholeheartedly, as I found it to be excellent in presentation and scope.
A book that should be on the bookshelf of any sorcerer, witch, or magician. This surprisingly dense book is, quite literally, packed with useful insights and rites a practitioner can use to develop their awareness and experience of the living world of spirits.
This is a book written by a magician for other magicians who, like the author, seek an ever-deepening relationship with the complex unseen world that surrounds us.
The author is the proverbial "real deal" when it comes to spirit work, this fact exudes from every page of this work. Do yourself a favor and buy this book as it doubtlessly belongs on the bookshelf of all non-armchair practitioners.
This is a comprehensive exploration of Western occult magic practices with spirits. The author does a good job laying out how various western practices work and its clear he’s researched the subject extensively (as well as done the practices). I like the analyses he provides in the appendices and found the book to overall be thought provoking. Even when I didn’t agree with the author, I really respected the way he presented the material and how accessible he made it. If you want to understand Western spirit work practices this is a great book to pick up.
