We have 7 Presidents in our country so far. And I had never idolized any of them, until this village ordinary common people became my President. He's a very humble person, and he has a patience of a saint, according to all the bullying, and yet, he's still work hard, less talk, and pray for people who hates him so much. Maybe just because, Jokowi left no space for corruption, and he's even never let his children involved in politics, to stay clean.
Reading this, giving me more knowledge about him, and how much he wanted to make this country recognizable for the greatness, not for corruption.
Bless your heart, my idol, Mr. President!

A truly charming narrative of a truly special figure! Everyone who knows me personally would agree that I’m a very discerning type of person: I don’t easily declare myself a fan or an admirer of someone/something. So when I picked up this book, it was more out of good-willed curiosity than mere fangirling. But I was immediately captivated by this person, this President of ours. His journey from being a humble small-town carpenter to navigating the nasty sea of Indonesian politics is definitely an enigma. He’s far from perfect, of course, and that is certainly to be expected because he’s human after all! But this is what I’m gonna say: most of the time in this life you feel like God is simply giving out permissions for things to happen; and then there are moments when you witness what it is like when He actually wills something. This Jokowi era, I believe, is one of those moments.

Reading this book made me realized that Jokowi is a great leader, manager and thinker. He is open minded and thinking way ahead of all the previous Presidents combined. He cared about the future and did not afraid to admit that he may not be perfect.

The book is written wonderfully (Alberthiene Endah is in her total element here), although there are some typos and grammar mistakes here and there. I can still hear and feel Jokowi's voice, and that made this book feels even more personal.

My only complaint is Jokowi didn't discuss at least two of my major concerns (I think this is more for political reasons): Palm oil industry, and 212 disaster.

Anyway... overall a really good memoir, especially if you want to know a bit more on "behind the scene stories" of some of Jokowi's famous policies.

An inspiring book for me. I can learn how a president manage his country. Also, for me Jokowi is one of the best president among all presidents that have govern this country.

Jokowi is the third Indonesian president I really admire after Soekarno and BJ Habibie. This book told the story of his life until he becomes president in his first period. I understand why he really focus in infrastructure, economy, education and health insurance due to his background as a child from a family that has intense survival through poorness. Although he cannot become everybody’s expectation, one thing I am certain is he has set high standard and quality of being president of Indonesia
