KAVACH OF SURYA

Rate this book
Karna could never have lost the final battle to Arjuna had he not given away his Kavach (armour) and Kundal (earrings) that were a gift from his father, Surya. The armour rendered Karna invincible against any foe.

We are in the 21st century. What if someone can find that armour today?

Vasu, a resolute man, sets out to retrieve the Kavach-Kundal. To guide him Karna himself turns up from the past. The hunt takes them to the Himalayas in the North, Dwarka in the West, Rameshwaram in the South and Konark in the East. And at each leg, they have to surmount hurdles of catastrophic proportions.

And Vasu is not the only one interested in this quest. A dubious character gets on Vasu’s trail and casts traps on his path. The young and charming Sahar, a marine archaeologist, joins Vasu to help him in the race.

Join Vasu and Sahar in this thrilling adventure to know why the armour was all that potent, and if it still exists.

COMMENT BY RUSKIN BOND
What stands out in this story is not whether Vasu completes the task, but how he undertakes the mission and what the expedition turns him into. Here, the journey is more important than the destination, and the reader shall see the protagonist going through a subtle spiritual transformation. ---- Ruskin Bond

COMMENT BY KAVITA KANÉ

This is the first time we are publishing a review of the same book twice. But with due respect, if I see the mammoth efforts the author has given to bring out the best/most reader preferred book, we are providing another review. Seriously you will find many authors (best selling one) who publish books every 3-6 months, sometimes even with flawed plots. Surendra Nath has actually published a beta book, through beta reviews, he made necessary changes to the book and almost after 2.5 years of hard work, he came up with the actual book.

Coming to the story part, the book started with the quick recap of Karna's alter ego then it's focus shifted to the main theme of the story. We all know that Karna lost his celestial armor (Kavach and Kundal) to Indra by deceit. Karna never regretted losing it. We don't know what happened to Kavach and Kundal after that. Our story is based on the finding of these Kavach-Kundal. Our protagonist Vasu wanted to locate this magical parts and use it for the greater good. Vasu ventured out for this treasure hunt with Karna's spirit. Armour belongs to Mahabharata time so Vasu had to find the connection with that era. Cholangitis or Immortals became guiding stones for Vasu in his missing. He met few Cholangitis and learned good things from them. During his search, he found out that he was not the only person looking for Kavach-Kundal. There are few people who knew these facts and wanted Kavach-Kundal for their selfish purpose. Well, Vasu will succeed at the end directly or indirectly but how he will do it is all about the book. Read this book to know more.

The book is written in easy language and medium pace. Treasure hunt parts were written with slow pace & action thriller parts were written with a fast pace. Minor drawbacks that we found in mythological facts and plot in the previous edition are corrected in this part. I was able to turn page after page without getting bored or disinterested even for a moment.

If you compare this review with our previous review, you will find that all/most of the weak point discussed in the beta edition are corrected. I have mentioned the point of cover design which is also changed and the latest cover is eye-catching, sure shot pick for thriller buffs.

If you have read Hindu mythology, especially Mahabharatha and have some knowledge around it, you would know the significance of the Kavach-Kundal(the armor) that Karna is born naturally with and how he suffers multiple curses in his lifetime, and how he loses this armor, which ultimately is believed to have caused his defeat and death in the great war. Kavach of Surya is the second book in the Karna-Vasu series which revolves around Vasu, a present day Indian resident and a believer/disciple of Karna who sets on the journey to retrieve this powerful armor. Karna also joins Vasu in this journey and the book explores this expedition of theirs in trying to find and retrieve the Kavach.

Mythological fiction as a genre is interesting as well as tricky, to convince the audience on the content while merging mythology with fiction. This book is even more challenging for the author as the story is set in current day with mythological characters still existing around. Hence the story requires the reader to ignore that part of logic and accept the fairytale flavor to enjoy it, since there are concepts like time travel which are debatable.Though, this is the second book in the series, reading the first book is not mandatory as the writer gives a brief recap at the starting as well as keeps explaining references to the previous part for ease of new readers.

At nearly 300 pages, the book is elaborate and feels slow at places, especially in the initial parts till the story, main characters and the goal of the story are established. The story takes the characters across the country, across a multitude of regions on their quest to discover the lost armor. The author succeeds in keeping the characters realistic and relate-able. Pick this one to be taken on a quest to unleash the lost Kavach of Karna and more importantly to realize the message that the journey is always important than the destination.

Kavach of Surya by Surendra Nath is a sequel to Karna's Alter Ego. This book embarks on the journey of a man named Vasu. He is in search of Karna's divine Kundal and Kavach. Karna is a mythological character of the great epic Mahabharata. Before the bloodthirsty war between Kaurav and Pandav's starts, Lord Indra asked Karan to give his divine armor and hide it on the different parts of Earth.

In the previous book, Vasu met with Karna and become his disciple. Now the story revolves around a hidden mystery, facts, and fiction. According to the myth, only a true believer will find Karna's Kavach and Kundal. In Vasu's deadly search he met with different immortals and learns about life and death. It is important to find a purpose in life, Vasu is struggling with that.

He begins his expedition with the blessings of Karna, and other immortal people like Vibhisan, and Guru Parashurama. Vasu proves his worth throughout his journey. If he finds the precious weapons, he can wear it, and protect the world, but if terrorist finds it first then, everything will be shattered. The fate of the world depends upon Vasu.

Surendra Nath tells the story in a fascinating way. It is fast-paced. It spellbinds me all the time when I read about any legendary character and the different eras. Sahar and famous scientist prove to be great allies to Vasu. I feel the Vrishali's character, Vasu's wife is clumsy. The villain of the story is quite an interesting person. Overall, this book proves to be worthy of my time. I recommend this book, but only if you're interested in mythology.

Kavach of Surya runs around Vasu, a resolute man who goes in search of Kavach-kundal, with the help of his Mahapurush, Karna. Karna is a mythological character from the Indian epic, Mahabharata who lost his battle to Arjuna after losing his kavach-kundal gifted by his father. Vasu along with Sahar travel to either directions of India, to find out the armour. In this process they come along different situations that make them believe never give up. Will they together be able to get it back to Mahapurush?? For this go grab your copy.

Firstly, I'd say it is one of the longest reads I ever came across.

The description of every particular detail makes it best.

The narration is however fast paced with perfect grammar and framing.

The sequences keep any reader stuck to the story.

A good fusion of mythology and travel.

Kavach of Surya is like reading an Amar Chitra Katha for adults, with similar good morals and storytelling.

KoS has been a long time in coming. I beta-read the book about 6 months back. Surendra Nath has spent a lot of time and care in shaping the book, getting feedback and generally polishing it all round. And the results speak for themselves.

Before we get any further, let me quickly summarise the story. Vasu, an ex-serviceman and athlete, is able to talk to Karna (yes, the same Karna from Mahabharata) and has had an adventure with him in the earlier book - Karna's Alter Ego. In this book, Vasu has a straightforward quest - gather the legendary kavacha-kundalam of Karna (earrings/armour) that Karna gave away during the Kurukshetra war. While the objective is straightforward, getting there involves traveling all over India, talking to legends from myth, treasure hunts, shoot-outs and philosophy.

There are three really strong points to this book - the amount of Indianness in it, the Amar Chitra Katha feel and a hero who is anything but your typical Indian hero. Let us consider these three aspects one by one.

The entire story is permeated in Indian history and Hindu mythology. With one of the main characters being Karna, what else would you expect. But, in addition to the Mahabharata per se, there are other myths that are touched upon, from all across the country. The author takes us all over the country, the locations of which we have read about in our myths but which exist in the real world too. For example: Rameswaram is one such place. the lore behind the temple is explained since that is integral to the plot. While explaining the lore, the author also seamlessly injects ancient and modern history into it. But do not consider this book to be a treatise on Hinduism - rather there are strong arguments being made for the superiority of spiritualism and other religions get their say too.

The other thing when it comes to the Indianness is the authenticity of the characters in the book. They behave the way we expect normal Indians to and the situations are realistic too. For example - the heavy handedness of the police or the way Indians generally react by deifying people who have accomplished something. I do not agree with some of the things in my culture but I have to laud Surendra Nath for bringing those aspects into the book instead of the taking the easy way and westernising it.

I liked the main character Vasu. Unlike the the typical Indian hero who is super sure of himself and beats the crap out of everyone else, Vasu constantly tries to improve himself. He is sensitive and avoids fighting when he can, but does not shirk away from one. As the book progresses, you can also see the change in Vasu's character.

Kavach of Surya is sequel to Karna' s Alter ego. The story is about Vasu , who is searching for Kavach and Kundal of Karna which was taken away by Indra during Mahabharat.
The story begins with the flash back from the Karna Alter ego and enter the current story with Vasu as the protagonist .
And in order to help and guide him Karna comes from the past and proceeds with the quest .
The book is mythology fiction , and I think the author has done a fabulous jobs by connecting it to the present . A good recap of the previous in beginning which removes the necessity of reading the prequel.
The story and writing style is elaborate . The narration crisp and engaging . Characters have been beautifully portrayed .
Overall it was a pleasure reading the book as Indian mythology holds a special place in my heart .

It hurts when something precious to you gets lost. You cannot concentrate. The agony, grief and frustration engulf you. And what you’ll do when you realize that there exists a way that you can retrieve things you possessed? Won’t it will be tempting to just go on a quest?

The same transpires with Karna. He gave up his armour and earrings to Indra that resulted in his loss in the battlefield. It was deceit but when is it that life is fair?

In the prequel to Kavach of Surya, we found out how Karna’s life never turned out to be a normal one. Facing society’s cruel remarks about his mother, childhood surrounded by poverty and never having someone to call a friend, Karna had seen it all. When he met Vasu, the protagonist of this book and someone equally ill-fated and wretched, Karna couldn’t help himself relating to the journey of Vasu, aiding him in his endeavors.

It’s time to pay back the bills.

The curtains of mystery have been fallen down. Karna has a way to get back everything that truly and deservedly belonged to him and in his moments of struggle and contemplation, Vasu acts as a never-ceasing support.

Their journey forces them to measure the lengths and breadths of the country. We ask ourselves again and again, Will they succeed?

“The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you'll go.”

Cover was smashing to say the least. In the black jacket that this book is housed in, beckons the aesthetic seeker of a bibliophile in you.

I would certainly say that the book leveled up as compared to previous one in the series. The last one showed a lot of promise and despite its caveats I rated it a good-read-to-watch-a-sequel-of.

Vasu’s life is a relatable tale. Every now and then, it stimulates you to contemplate your own decisions and choices in life. Blending mythology and fiction, the author has created a work which pitches life of Vasu as against that of Karna. Vasu undergoes torments only to emerge out victorious in the end. The journey held me till the end. Although, I would have liked to see more literary content on the character developing of Vasu and his backstory.

Makes you think that is the whole motive of immortality flawed at its root? I think the writer can do justice to his talent of managing multiple characters by bringing in alternative timelines and flip-flopping between the flow of story to make it much more intriguing than it currently is. "Holds potential" is my bottom line.

PS : I would like to mention that I also read the beta version of this book too and the book has improved significantly since the last iteration that was presented to me.

You can read this book as a standalone or you can read the previous work by the author to get a hold of his writing skills.

Fast paced, multi locations, time trotting - I will go for another sequel.

Kavach of Surya is fiction based on mythological character Karna who got a kavach as a gift from his father, Surya.
In this novel, the author has added a fictional touch by using his imagination when a modern man goes on to search kavach of Karna and also Karna joins him in doing so.
Will he succeed in finding and how he will do it?
I loved the way the author has mixed a touch of his imagination to a mythological story and the way he has narrated the story.
The story is good at pace, though a bit lengthy but the language is good enough to make it a good read.
Characters are very well developed and the book has an amazing end which I don't want to spoil. Overall an amazing book to read if you are into such a genre.

My Views - 'Kavach of Surya' is the sequel part of the book 'Karna's alter ego'.Though I didn't read the first book,I didn't have any problem understanding this one. This part can totally be read as a stand alone. The narration is smooth and engaging. The treasure hunting part and the action part both are very engaging and you can not keep the book down. The characters are well built. The language is also simple.
.
However the cover could be a little bit more interesting. It doesn't quite match with the content.
.
Overall a very good interesting read.Totally recommended..

Kavach of surya by Surendra Nath is surely an interesting read.

I have read mythological book but this one stands apart as the author tries to add fiction to mythology and history.
The plot is quite different and everything is just unpredictable and interesting.

The novel is quite lengthy but the narration is good which makes it a comfortable for the readers.

Language is quite simple and gripping, Author has worked amazingly on the characters especially bringing a real life character along with the fictional character.

Overall, this book is mix of everything in it which a good book should possess.
I read this book without reading the first part but didn't felt like any problem to me, but I am now eager to read the first part as well.

This book is the sequel of Karna's Alter Ego. However, as it's put, it manages to make an individual mark on the reader's mind. It beautifully potrays the transformational journey of Vasu when he sets out to find the Kavach-Kundal of his master, Karna.
I admired the writing style of author & his choice of words. Detailing with respect to situations is so well that you can imagine everything with much precision. Nothing bores you. Every situation is well paced. It keeps you hooked till the very end & it won't be wrong to say that it's one of the finest mythological reads I've ever read.

Kavach of Surya is a light read. It's the second book in the series and as I have not read the first book some things were not clear to me. The blurb already gives us an insight of the story. The story got me hooked because the writing style is pretty good. Although I personally think some things were stretched in between which was little distracting and the cover doesn't do justice to the book. It's minimalistic still it could have been more catchy and powerful. I'll definitely check out the first book.

A light read. I'll recommend it.

This is not a review actually, but let’s talk about Joseph Campbell’s description of the classic Monomyth in his book 'Hero's Journey'. Here is an analysis of the stages.
STAGE I – DEPARTURE
Call to adventure, Refusal and acceptance of the call, Supernatural aid, Crossing the first threshold, Belly of the whale
STAGE II – INITIATION
Road of trials, Meeting with the Goddess, Woman as temptress, Atonement, Apotheosis, The ultimate boon
STAGE III – RETURN
Refusal to return, Magic Flight, Rescue from without, Crossing the return threshold, Master of the two worlds, Freedom to live

If you were able to spot these stages in Vasu’s journey, let’s analyse some mystical situation that he undergoes:

Elements of mysticism in my story are drawn from existing legends and folklore. These include the YETI in the Himalayas and the MERMAIDS underwater. There exists a deep-seated spiritual legend about an ancient sunken city (like Atlantis) lying undersea off Dwarka in Gujarat. It made headlines when some underwater ruins were discovered, though quite off that area in 2001. National Geographic gave it a wide coverage on their channels. I have used this discovery as the setting for section ‘West’ of my story. Of the nine immortals mentioned in Hindu mythology, I have used two – PARASHURAMA and VIBHISHAN – to guide my protagonist.

The LAMA and the Valley of Immortality in section ‘North’ come from the Tibetan and Sikkimese folklore about a lama named Tulshuk Lingpa who found his way into BEYUL DEMOSHONG, in 1962. Then, of course, there is the legend of SHAMBHA-LA, from where comes my mystic antagonist. This is just to tell the readers that I haven’t created any fantasy out of thin air. Instead, I have set my story upon existing tales. You may google all the above legends; yes, they are thriving lore. Finally, the lesser said about the unnamed scientist in section ‘South’, the better he is identifiable.

The mysteries of the enigmatic Sun Temple in Konark have been handled and supported with extensive research work and plausible assumptions. In fact, every inch of space that Vasu and Karna cover is backed with research, though some imaginative paths cannot be ruled out.

If you’ve enjoyed reading the novel, even otherwise, let me know. And tell me what you think about my character Karna.

If you are a first-time reader, you should know this is the second book of the Author Surendra Nath.

The starting two pages will confuse you, it will tempt you to stop and read the first book,(you can always do that) but as Author promised this book stands on its own. So as I read further, trying to keep up with the character, And promised I found myself lost in the book. After the first chapter, I was fully aware of the Characters and where the story headed. From the magical realm of Immortals in Icy mountains to the legend of the Mythical creature Yatis, I could imagine them all, as I read the book. After finding the first piece I thought that everything is just so magical, like mind reading and telepathy, I assumed that the rest of the book will be the same, easy to find the pieces now by using these powers, but to my surprise when Vasu reaches South, he finds that the famous Scientist was kidnapped and he chases the bad buy like any other hero that we watch in a movie. Seriously I was impressed by the way Author described the whole scene and it seemed more logical than magical. Coming to the third part, the most mysterious location, the underwater city. I gasped as I read the word Mermaid, and it grasps my full attention from there.

So from Icy Mountain; North to the Isthmus islands between India and Sri Lanka; South. To South to the Lost City of Gujrat; West. From west to the temple of Puri in the East. It was the Journey not only Vasu took, but along with him I did too.

What I loved the most in his book apart from being magical and full of legends, is the Character Vasu.

I always found myself emotional when it comes to believing in God, I m a believer and follower of Lord Shiva, So whenever I visit a temple any temple I join my hand and close my eyes, I imagine the god standing in front of me and he his blessing me, automatically my eyes are filled with tears and I know that now I'm at peace and I feel spiritually awaken. So while reading this book I found the same feeling, When Vasu met the Immortals ones, he got down on his knees and address them with more respect, bowed his head. Each time Vasu bowed his head my eyes were filled with tears with the same belief of the god.

Apart from these, you should read the book because it is filled with adventures and Mythological creatures and also to simply learn about some of the Legends and Facts of our country.

So overall I loved the book and the author has done a great job and I could see the hard work and you will too when you read the last line of the book. I definitely and with assurance will recommend to read this book to find the kavach Kundal on your own with Vasu and Karna; the son of Surya.

I can read anything which is related to Mahabharata or any of its character. Each and every character of Mahabharata is worth to read, however, my favorite is always the Karna. He was the one who needed to be the best but the destiny has been written differently for him. In the past, I have read a few books on Karna and this time, I read a totally different book which is based on Karna, but the story is set in modern time. I haven’t read the author’s first book ‘Karna’s Alter Ego’ but this book is a sequel however it can be read as a standalone.

Plot summary:

Read more such reviews on https://www.haloofbooks.com/

We all know that disguised Indra took Karna’s armor and earrings; however, we don’t know what happened to the Kavach and Kundal afterward. This book revolves around the search of these celestial Kavach and Kundal of Karna.

The book starts with a glimpse of the previous book, where Karna meets Vasu. The book then moves to present where Vasu under the guidance of his Guru, Karna is set to find his Kavach and Kundal.

Vasu wanted to find Kavach and Kundal for the greater purpose but no one knows what happened to them once Indra took them with him. This seems an impossible task but Vasu determined to find it at any cost. Vasu was an army man and has a great cognizance power.

As no one knows anything about his celestial gift from Karna’s father Surya, hence Vasu and Karna decided to find one of the immortals mentioned in Hindu mythology. The journey is not an easy task for Vasu, but he decided to give his hundred percent.

Soon, they found out that they are not the only one who is searching the Kavach and Kundal hence, now Vasu has to work faster before it falls into wrong hands. From one clue to another, Vasu meets various enigmatic people in his journey.

Kavach and Kundal are hidden in the different direction of the earth and Vasu has to put tremendous efforts to retrieve all the pieces. In between, he also has to fight with his inner self and have to be spiritually powerful.

The journey is long, the purpose is higher and Vasu needs the determination to complete his journey. Will he able to find Karna’s Kavach and Kundal? Who are the other people looking for Kavach and Kundal? How this hunt will change Vasu’s life forever? Read this captivating book to know further.

Writing style:

The book is written in a lucid manner and narration is up to the mark. The scenic beauty and other backdrops are perfectly described by the author.

My perception:

I felt like I lived in this book. The story and concept are really amazing and I need to admire the author’s imagination to amalgamate mythology with the modern era. The journey of Vasu depicts a journey of life, where he learned various lessons and finds a purpose for his life, just like this we all need to have one purpose in life. This book will also take you through the unseen places of the earth which was an enthralling experience. Apart from this, this book is very well researched, be it a Sun temple, Jagannath Puri or Dwarka, the author has maintained the original essence.

Overall, this was an amazing book for me, and I am sure if you love to read mythology, adventure and suspense then this book needs to be in your wishlist.

We get so consumed with the end result that it makes us feel like we’ve accomplished something big, especially in situations where we see ourselves as the main protagonist. Let me give some examples of such milestones: the 12th grade results, the job with the pension, the massive wedding with the perfect soulmate. The focus is just so much on the end results; we lose track of the journey. That journey which is the best part! These accomplishments do make us who we are, but they are achieved only via the journey. This book will leave us enjoying the journey and seeing the real value of the journey (real gems on the path).

This book helps us enjoy the moment in time even when we are moving towards the achievement of a something which would eventually bring us to the end of book. But the best part of the end of the book is it still leaves us feeing the importance of self in that moment versus continuously looking forward to a futuristic idea of accomplishment.

The author, Surendra Nath, makes the following of Vasu (our protagonist) as a reader very fun, adventurous and exciting. The hurdles faced by Vasu are handled well by all that he learns and gains with his association with many beautifully created characters like his MAHAPURUSH, Karna himself. Vasu like most of us is given multiple opportunities to learn from and develop himself to be better prepared for many unforeseen events. Taking a cue from how he observes and absorbs from his surrounding which then helps him better himself constantly, we too can analyse the decisions we tend to make on many occasions we may face. This inspires the readers to relate to their life situations aa well as helps them choose the path that strengthens them and helps them face problems in life by believing in their resilience.

I think this is a good read. It is fast paced, enjoyable and a great way to retire your day to get inspired and pumped up to take on the next day. This will give you your daily dose of action, fantasy, adventure and thrill. I assure you, as a reader, you will find something in the book that will touch your heart and also help you appreciate Vasu’s decision as if they were made by you if you were in these situations.

Book : Kavach of Surya ☀️ ⁣

Author : Surendra Nath⁣

☀️The book is an amazing tale of the thrilling adventure of two people Vasu and Sahar living in the 21st Century who sets out to retrieve something special, something magical and powerful. But what’s that!?? ⁣

☀️Karna could never have lost the final battle to Arjuna had he not given away his Kavach (armour) and Kundal (earrings) that were a gift from his father, Surya. ⁣

☀️This Kawach-Kundal is that special thing. The armour rendered Karna invincible against any foe. ⁣

☀️Vasu, a resolute man, sets out to retrieve the Kavach-Kundal. To guide him Karna himself turns up from the past. The hunt takes them to the Himalayas in the North, Dwarka in the West, Rameshwaram in the South and Konark in the East. ⁣

☀️But do you think, this journey and hunt was going to be easy?? It was full of obstacles. And at each leg, they have to surmount hurdles of catastrophic proportions. ⁣

☀️And Vasu is not the only one interested in this quest. A dubious character gets on Vasu’s trail and casts traps on his path. The young and charming Sahar, a marine archaeologist, joins Vasu to help him in the race. ⁣

☀️Read this amazing book to join Vasu and Sahar in this thrilling adventure to know why the armour was all that potent, and if it still exists. ⁣

☀️The book is really amazing with detailed description of the events going on. It’s a sequel book. Though, I haven’t read the first book, this book kept me captivated and addicted. It’s a must read. ⁣

☀️I really like the narration and the plot. The book made me understand the importance of journey to destination. It’s not about completion of the mission only but how do you complete it. ⁣

Rating : 💌💌💌💌💌/5⁣

I am fortuitous to read both “Karna’s Alter Ego” and “Kavach of Surya” of the Author back to back. In the first Book, Vasu, the protagonist with contemporary tribulations and travails faces life in all its myriad hues by relating his circumstances with those of Karna, the first-born and the hidden son of Kunti and drawing divine inspiration while doing so. In all the situations whether akin or alien to Karna’s life, Vasu finds Karna on his side imparting guidance and sharing wisdom. The beauty of the Book lies in the juxtaposing several instances in Vasu’s life with those of similar or near predicaments faced by Karna in his life. The shared wisdom of Karna chisels Vasu into a formidable person, who, by the time the book ends, emerges a hero, almost as brave and confident a warrior as Karna.

“Kavach of Surya” is a stunning mytho-fiction intelligently plotted sequel that outshines the predecessor. At Karna’s solicitation, Vasu vows to search and retrieve the congenital armor and magic ear rings (kavach-kundal) given away to Indra through self-mutilation and in extreme generosity by the former. The Book chronicles the odyssey to all four corners of India undertaken by Vasu endowed with telepathy and other parapsychological faculties by Parshurama to consummate the pledge and stave off the potent kavach-kundal from falling into evil hands. Vasu’s adventure ably assisted by the lead-lady, Sahar, weaves its way through the four hideouts closeted among the Himalayas in North, Dwaraka in West, Rameswaram in South, and Konark in East.

The author’s creativity brilliantly stands out in his exploration of the aftermath of a fairly settled and conclusive episode of Indra tricking Karna of Kavach-Kundal in the great epic into a taut and mesmerizing contemporary thriller.

The book winds up with a clarion call to lead a moral and virtuous life and heralding the arrival of new a Vasu - Mrityunjay.

I am sure, the author has one more sequel up his sleeve to amplify the epistle at the end of the Book.

As the title itself suggests, the book is a continuation of the story 'Karna's Alter Ego'. Now despite being a sequel, this book has the power to stand alone and be an amazing read even after not reading its previous part. Truly speaking, I too didn't read its previous part yet had no difficulties in absorbing the story.

The plot is about Vasu and his eager quest to find the Kavach and the Kundal that once belonged to Karna (one of the greatest characters of Mahabharata). As the blurb itself says that Karna would have never lost the battle had he not given up his Kavach and Kundal. Thus both, the Kavach and the Kundal, holds a special important in Vasu's life.

The story is beautifully weaved into actions whose importance may vary from reader to reader. But one thing that remains constant is the distinguished perception of life with that of Karna's in Mahabharata and Vasu's in 21st century.

Despite being a long read of about 280 pages, the story holds on to its readers. It's pretty hard to write mythological stories but the writer has effortlessly excelled in this field. The facts mentioned are well researched as per my knowledge. And the writing style is quite impressive.

Moving towards the cover, looking at the awesomeness of the story, I feel it could have been better but the title is well justified.

Summing up the review, I feel this story can be considered as a modern day mythological story.

We are in the 21st century. What if someone can find that armour today?

♥According to me this was an amazing read, expect the first novel in the series is missed by me. Some connections weren't linked that well, yet, when I started I had a vision that I am gonna like it. As the book proceeds, it gives different vibes & certainly keeps you entertained. The specific writing style is enough to grab the reader's attention throughout. Yet, at some places I felt the book is bit stretched. Some questions were unanswered & I am definitely excited to read the next part of the book. I really liked it. Talking about the cover, it's not giving justice to the content.♥
.
♥I will recommend this book of you are looking for a good entertaining, mytho read♥

KAVACH OF SURYA by Surendra Nath

Living in 21st century we all know what
mass destruction weapons pose a threat to time.
What if a ancient old armour was found today by someone to help attempt thier malicious intentions.
An armour which we all know , boosts one with invincibility against any foe.
"Karna had his armour (kavach and kundal) lost to indira by deceit.

In search for it , Vasu faces hurdles , traps and challenges posed by dubious character ,
Sahara a young marine archeologist joins Vasu and help him in his journey to Kavach-kundal.

Cholangitis or the Immortals which vasu meets are the dots that vasu joins to unfold his way to quest , every meet , every learning and every thought provoked by the character is a taste to tongue to the reader.

The flow of factual and mythological knowledge to reader is what gets me turning the pages. It's a medium paced story when you are in treasure hunt though it delivers it genre with fast pace in action thriller parts of the book.

It's a sequel that I was reading but never came to me that it was as , the start of the book narrates its previous write .
Though it made me curious what the story of vasu was earlier and how would have been the character development as "kavach of surya". The author has done commendable work.

Thankyou for the review copy.

A typical tale of chasing a lost treasure and running against the clock with a competitor (bad guy, of course) in tow. Add to it, the aspect of self-discovery. The story gathered steady pace and interesting characters

The protagonist, mentored and guided by Karna (from Mahabharata) takes up the quest to recover the lost belongings of Karna which he gave away to Indra. These are lost in antiquity with Karna himself unable to provide much help directly in the search.

Along the journey, we meet other immortals who have lived through the ages. They act as guides as well as custodians of the treasure ... or the information that leads to the treasure. The question of immortality and purpose of life is a central recurring underlying theme of the storytelling.

And that is the key takeaway for me from the novel. Immortality and what it really means to the immortal. Is it worth the hype? is it worth to live forever? What do you really gain by a looooooong life spanning ages?

Makes you think !

BOOK NAME - Kavach Of Surya
Author - Surendra Nath
@bookssndbeyond ratings - 4/5
-------------------------
Vashu , main protagonist of this book worshiped Karna as his hero of life. He faced various ups and downs in his life but in every difficulties of his life he faced with positivity by remembering all fight of Karna. Karna was his inspiration and his one only support to live the entire life. According to the story of Karna , Arjuna defeated him in the war because he put off his Kavacha and Kundala which was gifted him by his father Surya and Which was taken by Indra from him and made the access of those gifts impossible from Karna. Vashu became determined to find that Kavacha and Kundala. With the touch of the mythology this story is different from other fictional stories. The essence of the story gives the reader an interest to know more and connect the morder era with the time of Mahabharata. Characters are depicted beautifully . With lucid language every turns of the story is properly sketched . Overall I love reading this book.

KAVACH OF SURYA (Karna Vasu Book 2)

It's a mythological read, a second part of the series. The first one being Karna's Alter Ego. These is about the story of Karna a character from the great Mahabharata, son of Surya Dev. He has been provided with a Kavach And Kundal by his father to protect himself against any difficulties. But he had to withdraw his Kavach And Kundal which was of great power and he lost his life too along with the Kavach and Kundal.

In the present time a man named Vasu an ex Army of India who is residing with his wife and son, worship Karna and makes him as his idol. He thinks Karna as his God with utmost respect and devotion. He sets to find out the long lost Kavach and Kundal from 5000 years back and seeks help from Karna itself. And Karna also willingly help him to discover the precious thing and guides him through his path. He sets on a journey and visits different places in India to find it and meets various people from the past who helpled him into his journey to unfold the hidden power. Its a journey of a very ordinary man from a learned person.

This book is a long read but it is so gripping that you don't feel like letting go !
This is a story which revolves basically around two characters Karna and Vasu who go on a quest to find out the Kavach-Kundal of Karna, which is hidden by Indra. They try hard but they know it cannot be hidden in heaven,so the only possible place left is Earth. Now the twist by the author in the novel is that, it narrates how Vasu takes all the responsibility of finding Karna's Celestial Armor! Now it won't be just if I tell whether they find the Kavach-Kundal or not because that is what the book is all about! Do grab a copy and find out the hidden treasure.
Apart from the excellent words used in the novel, author Surendra Nath also explains the mythology in a very creative and gripping way.India definitely wants more of such writers who spreads the message of rich heritage of India.A big shout out to Sir Surendra Nath for writing such a powerful novel

One of the best Mythological book. I would say one should also read the previous novel "Karna's Alter Ego", and then this story will make great sense. Although, it is making sense in this way as well. Just like the theme it's based on, (the fantasy of mythology in the modern era) the book itself refuses to conform to boundaries or restrictions of any set or particular 'genre', much like its predecessor "Karna's Alter Ego". It is a narrative compelling read.
The author’s creativity brilliantly stands out in his exploration of the aftermath of a fairly settled and conclusive episode of Indra tricking Karna of Kavach-Kundal in the great epic into a taut and mesmerizing contemporary thriller. In this story Author relates Karna's lifestory with present times. At the end, author make a call to live a moral and good life by the arrival of new a Vasu - Mrityunjay

Mythology in 21st century

The Book 'Kavach of Surya' written by Surendra Nath is a mythological story which is based in today's world. The lead character Vasu follows his guru. Vasu calls him 'Mahapurush' and he is Karna, one of the people from Mahabharat. He is the Son of Surya. He lost his Kavach and Kundal during the battle. Now, those powerful items are laying somewhere on the earth. Within the reach of humans, the humans who if get their hands on the powerful Kavack would leave no chance to use it for defeating every country and rule over the world. Hence, now, Vasu with his Mahapurush, Karna is out to find the Kavach and Kundan before anyone else.

The narration is smooth and interesting. Being a long read, the story holds the power to keep the reader in touch and gripped with the book.

This story takes it's readers to an altogether different universe. It's protagonist Vasu is on a quest to find the mythological Kavach and Kundal belonging to the great warrior Karna. At the end, author make a call to live a moral and good life by the arrival of new a Vasu - Mrityunjay.
