I just finished this book and was left hanging, literally at the sentence end. I had no idea, when I began this series, that the co-author had passed away. This is such an amazing series, so I am left wondering why the co-author has not continued to write the story?
I enjoyed this book just as much as the others, even though I wondered, when one of the main characters had been eliminated, if Jack would be able to carry the story on his own. There was a point, about a third to half way through, where I began to think that it wasn't going to work, but then in a few pages, it picked up again and I was just as engrossed in this book as I was with all the others. So why, Ms Goggins, have you not continued, or if the publisher has refused to publish, why do you not do so yourself? This series screams to be finished...it is well worth the read, even in its unfinished state. So, I once again recommend to anyone who likes Paranormal/Vampire stories, but be prepared to be left seriously dangling at the end of the fifth book....and to the author...PLEASE, PLEEEEASE, finish this series!

The Savannah Vampire series is a well written adult urban fantasy series that is more based in drama and intrigue than romance. (ie.,more like The Noble Dead series than the Black Dagger Brotherhood.) That is not to say there isn't romance and sex in it, it just isn't the purpose of the story, which really is about (vampire) character development. By this 5th book, you really get attached to the crew and NEED to know what happens in the end.
Heartbreak of heartbreaks however, the series hasn't been picked up by the publisher for the final book!
The author plans to self-publish the conclusion as an e-book in a few months, but I just can't believe any publisher would not continue a established vampire series!
SO!I am asking you to go out and read this series - buy the books or request them from your library. The fantasy world needs more quality, completed vampire series, in my opinion, so let's not let this one fall by the wayside. Go out and find a copy of The Vampire's Seduction and get started. Maybe write the original publisher, Ballantine Books,(http://www.randomhouse.com/about/cont...) and ask them about the final book's release date, too, while you are at it.

Ambarabaciccìcoccò...un vampiro solo sul comò!
Povero Jack, gliene capitano di tutti i colori, e la vita a Savannah è di ora in ora sempre più difficile, soprattutto dopo gli sviluppi finali del libro precedente! La cacciatrice è ormai attiva, ed il suo grande amore Connie non vede l'ora di ucciderlo a sangue freddo e col sorriso sulle labbra. Il segreto venuto alla luce nel libro precedente, e che la riguarda, non è stato ancora svelato, ma chissà se non sarà proprio con esso che la situazione si potrà sbloccare, prima o poi. Per non parlare dell'orda di vampiri maledetti, una volta rilegati all'inferno ed ora fuoriusciti dalle viscere della terra, che minacciano la città, proprio a pochi giorni di distanza dalla festa di San Patrizio. Ci sono talmente tanti di quegli ostacoli, imprevisti, minacce, scambi di personalità e molto altro ancora, che la morte sembra sempre più la scelta migliore da affrontare...
Peccato che nemmeno lasciarsi morire per mano della persona che si ama sia tanto facile se, purtroppo, tante cose ancora ci rendono legati a questo mondo e se tante persone care da difendere e proteggere credono ancora in te!
In questo quinto libro un solo vampiro è posto in primo piano, divenendo così il totale protagonista della vicenda e dando così la certezza dell'inevitabile dipartita dell'altra co-protagonista. La solitudine delle situazioni è pressante, così come il carico sempre maggiore di responsabilità che grava su Jack. E’ strano leggere la storia attraverso una sola voce portante, eppure questo è quanto ci riserva ora il futuro. Spero però che le cose un giorno ritornino alla loro origine, ma si vedrà!
Ciò che mi ha preoccupato durante la lettura è il fuggi fuggi generale che lo caratterizza. Se da un lato alcuni personaggi tornano, anche brevemente ma con efficacia, per dare scompiglio con la loro sola presenza, dall'altra arrivano anche nuove figure interessanti e ben caratterizzate a dare nuovo tono alla situazione. E’ un fatto positivo, perché rappresenta la possibilità di tutta una serie di sviluppi ancora possibili. Per non parlare poi del finale assolutamente aperto e con l’entrata in scena di un nuovo personaggio di cui intuisco forse la natura, ma che lascio alla scrittrice il piacere di stupirmi ancora una volta.
Il rammarico però per quanti decidono, in un unico frangente di allontanarsi dalla situazione, rimane vivo nonostante tutto. Chissà chi tornerà effettivamente un giorno. E’ anche vero che alcune scelte sono più che motivate, ma trovarne così tante in un sol soffio pesa notevolmente sull'intera situazione narrativa.
Fortunatamente il nostro protagonista non è del tutto solo. C'è ancora Werm a dargli forza, un gruppo di amici non-abituè pronti ad aiutarlo e soccorrerlo in ogni necessità e anche i nemici, mai noiosi nelle loro minacce verso l’intero schieramento dei buoni.
Ogni libro, porta con sè nuove situazioni comunque originali che non fanno altro che rendere la storia sempre più appetitosa. Tra i tanti avvenimenti, colpi di scena e dipartite, c'è solo da sperare che tutto prima o poi fili nel verso giusto.
Non vedo davvero l'ora che esca il successivo, ma ahimè la scrittrice non si è ancora decisa a scriverlo per problemi editoriali, e questo non fa che peggiorare la situazione vista la fine del libro attuale...se poi di fine si può veramente parlare.
Intanto vi consiglio di leggerlo, perché la storia di volta in volta riesce a colpire nel segno, senza sbavature e nei giusti toni drammatici e d’azione. Davvero apprezzabile!

Jack McShane is a vampire and his life is a nightmare. As a soldier during the Civil War, Jack laid dying on the battlefield when William Thorne turned him into a vampire. William was not only Jack’s sire, but his mentor and his friend. But now William is dead, killed by the woman Jack loves. When Connie took William’s life, she was turned into a vampire slayer. So now Jack has to not only contend with the motley group of vampires that want to challenge him for the chief enforcer role he inherited from William, but the love of his life wants to rip his head from his body. Oh, let’s add a little more drama to the mix . . . Connie has yet to discover that she is pregnant with Jack’s child. Yes, this story has many twists and turns and leaves you wondering if there will be a happily ever after. I love how Jack sums up his life at the beginning of this novel, “So as you can see, reality bites. Even worse than I do. Welcome to the new normal. Welcome to my nightmare.”
The Vampire’s Revenge is the fifth book in the Savannah Vampire series. I do believe it would be beneficial to readers to read the series in order. I felt like I was missing some of the background information gathered from the previous books. I really enjoyed the references to areas in and around Savannah, including Fort Pulaski and Tybee Island.
This was my first ever urban fantasy book and I have to say that I did enjoy it. While I prefer more romance in my reading, I found myself glued to the pages and wondering what would happen next to Jack. It was like watching an action/adventure movie. Also, this novel is told from Jack’s point of view. I found this to be very refreshing. Following the current trend of some romance novels, this book leaves you wanting more by ending with somewhat of a cliff hanger. I found myself reading the last sentence and saying “but what is going to happen?” Needless to say I will be looking forward to reading the next book in this series.
While I would love to go into more depth about the plot of the novel, I feel that I would be giving away some of the surprises in the book. So following the pattern of this book, I’ll leave you wanting more.

Jack McShane does not have it easy. Not only is he a vampire, his "sire" (the man who turned him) has just been brutally murdered by Connie, the woman he loves, who - oops, bad luck - has just completed the ceremony to become the next Vampire Slayer and is lusting for his blood. And if that wasn't enough, a gang of demons and other double deads have infiltrated Savannah, making the place unsafe for living and undead alike. Only by cooperating can Jack and Connie rid the city of the threat these twice-dead people pose... that is, if she doesn't kill him first.
It wasn't supposed to be this way, but somewhere along the way, something went horribly wrong, and now everybody involved have no choice but to hang on for the ride, and hope that the tragic end isn't as set in stone as it currently looks.
The Vampire's Revenge is 5th in a series with several more planned, and there are therefore a lot of plot references left unexplained and a lot of threads left dangling to be picked up in later books. Not usually a fan of cliff-hangers, I understand the necessity of starting off a plot line in one book to finish it in another, and Raven Hart managed to close off enough ends that I still felt like the book was properly concluded even with the obvious bridges into the next book.
Like many other books in its genre, The Vampire's Revenge is best described as "literary candy". It's good entertainment with lots of action, quirky characters, sizzling hot sex-scenes... and not much else - perfect for a guilty pleasure read. But while I enjoyed the plot, I could have wished for the writing to be a bit tighter. Some scenes seemed very rushed; with the climax occurring practically before I'd realized the action had started. It didn't affect my over-all enjoyment of the book, but does make it difficult for it to pass beyond the "guilty pleasure" labelling I originally gave it.

Con La vendetta del vampiro possiamo scrivere the end alla serie dei Vampiri di Savannah.
Nel primo romanzo vi avevo accennato circa la possibilità di un sesto libro che la scrittrice stava scrivendo, ma è passato più di un anno da allora e sviluppi al riguardo non ce ne sono stati, quindi deduco che possiamo dire di essere alla fine, con non senza colpi di scena. Prima di scrivere questa recensione ho dovuto necessariamente rileggermi la precedente per capire cosa dirvi e cosa tacere e mi rendo conto che molto dovrò tenerlo per me. Jack è alle prese con una nuova serie di problemi, innanzitutto, con la donna che ama, Connie, che dopo essere diventata una cacciatrice di vampiri più che desiderio fisico verso Jack prova un'attrazione come dire "sanguigna". Savannah è di nuovo in pericolo, la sua famiglia si riduce sempre più e lui non sa come affrontare al meglio la situazione. Dovrà combattere contro i demoni del passato, ma riuscirà anche in questa nuova missione?
Questo romanzo conclusivo, non lo definirei propriamente con un finale scontato, perché molte porte restano socchiuse, infatti, non mi ha completamente convinta, ma anche se sembrerò superficiale, posso dire di aver terminato una saga!

I am still disappointed about William's death in the previous book. I really like Jack though and he seems to have grown into a better character in this book. He seems stronger (yet overwhelmed) with his new responsibilities. I'm hating the Seth/Connie storyline though. I just want Connie and Jack to be together. I really hate this Seth complication. As usual, the author leaves us with cliffhangers. Will Rennie survive to become a vampire? What will happen with this new doctor character who wants to witness his change? Will Seth and Connie be rescued from the faerie island before it disappears for 100 years? And of course what is going to happen with Will and Diana? Will Diana corrupt her son into working with her to try to destroy Jack and the Slayer? Will Connie find out that Jack is the father of her baby, and when will she realize she's pregnant? Surely the girl can do the math!

I started and realized that William does not have a voice in this book so I shelved it to read after I read some other ones. I love Jack's wit but I don't see him pulling off an entire book, so....
I just finished and it sucked. That's the bottom line. What was Raven Hart thinking. It made no sense. It is obvious that there will be more but reading a soap opera on a yearly basis is crazy. She needs to think about wrapping up one of her books in a way that makes sense. If a reader likes a series they will read it regardless. I have never seen so many characters hung out to dry at once. I did like one thing, she got rid of Connie (I hope).

She needs to think about wrapping up one of her books in a way that makes sense. If a reader likes a series they will read it regardless. I have never seen so many characters hung out to dry at once. I did like one thing, she got rid of Connie (I hope).

I have really liked this series in the past, this book had a silly unbeilable feel to it. William, the Father figure vampire is double dead and the characters grief is off and on with silly comments and actions. The emotional level felt in previous books was gone. All the characters except for the twins, were all the same silly mess. The story was all over the place as well, like she didn't know where to go from here, so she opened all kinds of doors ? How sad for me I was waiting for this book so long. I don't even care about getting the next book in the series and it ending in a cliffhanger.

The basic storyline is okay, but seems to be just a vehicle for moving the characters lives around. I have no idea what the author's doing, because by the end of the book, she's killed off or moved away or otherwise removed almost all the original characters. I hope it makes sense in the next book.
There's going to have to be almost all new bad guys and alot of new good guys. So basically, Jack's story will be a new series with Savannnah, Werm, the garage gang and Diana & Will.
Best scene(s): the ritual to get rid of the double-deads and Connie's fight with Ulrich.

I speed through this series with an ernest heat and determination to see it to the end. I am now eagerly awaiting the 6th book. It has sex, suspense and humour with a heavy dose of action. You feel with the characters. You find yourself worried about them when you have to put the book down for a bathroom break. You do not even waste time between books you are eager to get to the next installment just to see where the story is going next.

It they had half stars it would be 2 1/2. After losing one of the main characters I'd lost interest. I kept reading because, 1) I'd bought the book, and 2) I wanted to see where it was going from here. I have to say the end was dumb. Soooooooooooo many questions and no answers. I don't know when the next book is coming out, and at this point I don't plan on reading it when it does.

If you can get through the first couple of books, the series gets progressively better. This book is the last of the Savannah Vampire series (I guess). It was a really good, quick read - much easier than others since it is only told from one character's point of view. I just disliked the ending. I felt like too much was left unfinished.

Love, love, love this series! I cannot wait for more from Raven Hart! I am totally and completely in love with Jack McShane and cannot wait to see what happenes next...this book kept me reading until the end! Love it!

Very disappointed- the series did not wind up at all like I expected. Something differed with the author's style after the first 2 or 3 books. Not sure if there is to be another book after this one...

I am truly miffed about William dead!!!! I'm not sure Jack can carry the series alone. I'm not sure that I want to continue reading as it is now......

I hated the way this left me feeling, it felt incomplete. So hopefully we won't have to wait to long for the next book in the series.

Ok, I love the series, but I hated the ending. Killing off one of the main characters is just not cool.
