Book #9 begins when a retiring FBI special agent-in-charge named Edward Giles is brutally murdered in his home, and the FBI goes nuts when they cannot find a motive nor the perp. Of course, there is a Reacher connection to an old counterfeiting case, which makes the FBI team interested in Lauren Pauling. Meanwhile, Michael Tallon is offered a plum job overseas, which turns out to be a feint, and he barely escapes being killed. The two begin to investigate the old case, eventually leading to a surprise person responsible for the sadistic deaths of both Giles and an Buckhead, Atlanta financial advisor.
Jack Reacher Books, false advertising is what I call it.
why else, the continual one or two word references about Jack Reached. This should be referred to false advertising. I would like to
know why Dan Ames feels he had to misinform all of his readers as to these being Jack Reacher books. Is he so unsure of himself as a w writer that he felt the only way to get them published was with this gimmick. I cannot believe Lee Child's agreed to such flagrant out reaching. I have read all of the Jack Reacher books by Child, and I guess that is why these are so very disappointing in that way. I don't believe Mr. Ames will ever be the writer that Lee Childs is, but he was not so disappointig in the first series I read. But now, it is just a given he is going to mention Reacher's name a few times and that makes each book a Jack Reacher book. How stupid is that?
"Lust, greed and hate." These stories featuring ex FBI agent, Lauren Pauling and her lover, Special Ops soldier, John Tallon, continue to be fascinating good, easy reads. Written in a black and white, no frills style each book is very quick to finish and has the feel of a film script rather than a novella. Interesting plot, well spliced together from various perspectives. In this story, an horrific murder of the retiring FBI special agent in charge, Edward Giles, draws Pawling back to New York for the funeral and her interest is piqued when she learns that the words "For Reacher" had been painted on the wa!ls. Always fun, and recommended..
I have read books 1-9; they are all good. Well written, good plot twists, decent character development. However, my only complaint, they build and build and then just end. All this lead up and then the action happens in a few pages and then the story is over. Also, unfortunately, depicting Pauling as a strong investigator with amazing intellect and instinct, but always making her fall for the “Reacher” part, seems to degrade her intelligence and cunning. Otherwise, I am a fan. Hell, I read 9 of the books.
Interesting read in the Tallon and Pauling stories, the two characters at the heart of this series are almost co-stars in this installment. Plenty of action and intrigue to keep you thinking and trying to figure out what is going to happen in the story. A fairly brief novella that can be read in 1 or 2 sittings and offers several options for the author to continue the story with Tallon, Pauling or Sheriff Bordeau as a featured character.
Lauren gets pulled into the investigation of a murdered FBI agent and his wife. But who knew the twists and turns she would encounter along the way. This was a great, fast-paced story that has connections to the past and we learn more of her prior working relationship when she was in the FBI. You won't be able to put the book down.
The head of the New York FBI office and his wife were brutally murdered in their home. The only clue left at the crime scene? Written in blood on the wall " for Reacher. " An actual clue ? Payback? And another brutal killing with the same c!ue. This is an extremely well written fast paced action thriller. Enjoyed immensely.
Lauren Pauling, a former FBI Agent, knew Jack Reacher but this story hinges on her previous connection to Jack’s brother, Joe, who worked at Treasury. This 20 year old case comes to life through the most unlikely person and the reader will not see the end until it the last page. Ames has written another Reacher winner.
Lauren Paulings old FBI boss is brutally murdered just days before retirement and a bloody message seems to indicate Jack Reachers involvement.
Years earlier Reacher was passing though a small town in the middle of nowhere and stumbled into a major counterfeiting ring and took care of business “Reacher Style”. Unfortunately some people hold grudges a long time.
Excellent book. It’s very fast paced and action packed. I love this series. Every book in this series is a must read. Pauling and Tallon are a great duo. I highly recommend this book and this series.
Talk about a fast read. This one is an A+ sleep depriver . Ames has enough action to keep the pages turning faster than the body count. A good escape and a great read.
Another great book in this series featuring Paulson and Tallon. The story line of this book is so convoluted you will not have a clue about the protagonist until the very end. I highly recommend this book.
Quick, engaging action book, with some mystery & intrigue. The main characters/ hero of the book work well together when drawn seperately into a terrible murder connected to a past counterfeiting case with connections to the FBI. Surprise ending. Definite read.
Nothing really to do with the Reacher universe than a couple of mentions of Reacher's name. The writing style is very elementary, and his use of prose and wording, I found to be very frustrating, and simple.
Ames does take his liberties in novel writing. How can Michael Tallon get his shoe laces off with his hands zip tied to a pole behind his back? Minor point? But he does and things get active. A good quick story with corruption up in the FBI. 5
Lauren Pauling and Michael Tallon are pulled into a conspiracy that takes us back to Margrave, Georgia, where Jack Reacher and his brother Joe went ahead to head with a vicious criminal gang.
I received an eArc for this book. A fast paced gripping thriller that keeps you on the edge of your seat and doesn't let you put the book down till you finish it.
