A group of British children who live in a wretched row of houses where pets are stictly forbidden. When a new child arrives whose cat promptly has kittens, this immediately provides a basis for friendship and gives the children a new interest as well as an important private life. Unfortunately, the hiding place the children choose for the kittens is also chosen by a delinquent teddy boy as a hide-out for his stolen goods. This unlooked-for complication inevitably brings new problems.
