This book is an essential resource on some of the dynamics of Apostolic families covering a wide range of topics such as parenting young children, teens, and adults; singles, marriage, elders, and disability. With rich insight from David K. Bernard, Brent & Rachel Coltharp, Stan Gleason, Anthony Mangun, Cindy Miller, David Norris, and others, this book will be of tremendous value to any individual who wants to improve relationships with family members.
Thank you Word Aflame Press for another great resource. I was taking notes all the way through. I can see what I got wrong and have some ideas about what I can do about it, so thank you.
This is a really unusual book with a very wide array of subject matters that a family or person might deal with. There were too many subject matters that were gone over briefly. I expected more up to date parenting advice and tips. Quite a bit of the book did deal with parenting but there were also subjects such as singleness, divorce, parenting if divorced/never married, cohabitation, aging parents, volunteering, bitterness, anxiety, prescription meds, love, staying in church and home life.
When I finished this book, the first word that came to mind was, “Wow!” This book provides instruction that is applicable to every Apostolic family in the twentieth century despite what period you are in your life. This book focuses on marriage, families with young children, adolescents, and adult children, singles, families with children that have disabilities, and the elderly. It also provides information on how to have good communication and practice in the home. There was great insight on how to raise your family in the admonition of the Lord by following biblical principles that will help your children as well as yourself establish a strong relationship with God and keep it. Family is where the Christian walk begins and family so what God created first in the Bible.
