This book was written 30 years ago and is therefore somewhat (majorly?) outdated. This of course, is not the fault of the book, nor the author. As a book it is well constructed. The author reminds the reader of what he is trying to get across a number of times through the book. This means that it is easy to understand the book. As a Physicist who would be nominally in the same camp as the author, I appreciated and liked most of what was written. I believe that Hayward does a good job in showing the current weaknesses of both neo-Darwinism as well as young earth creationism. He unfortunately does not do as well near the end of the book when he confronts theistic evolution. This may be because books by the likes of Denis Alexander were not yet written, but it still weakens the book. This is a book I wish I could get my young earth creation friends to read, but unfortunately most seem only willing to read books that support what they already believe (Note: that I have stack of young earth books that I have read). The book reminds me a bit of the much more recent book by John Lennox, which I would recommend even higher.

I enjoyed this book. I'm doing a report on Creation/Evolution, and this book helped. It first "disproved" evolution and then "disproved" that there was a young earth. The only problem I had with this book was that I haven't ever read any old-earth Creationist books before. I don't know much about OEC at all, and this book didn't improve my knowledge of it. I also found his theory of God's "fiats" to be confusing and unexplained. Other than that, I found this book very helpful in the Creation/Evolution debate.
