Special Forces Space Marine Lara Traynor wants to save her sister and her planet from annihilation by the deadly insectoid Kantos. Earth’s Space Corps give her one option: steal three gems sacred to the Eon Warriors. Lara has never failed a mission and she doesn’t plan to start now. What she doesn’t expect is the big, hard-bodied warrior the Eon sent to stop her.

When they are attacked by a Kantos kill squad, it soon becomes clear that the Kantos are planning something far darker and dangerous. Touch Of Eon is book two in the Eon Warriors series by Anna Hackett.
We continue on to meet Eve’s older sister, Lara, who has also been blackmailed by earth government into stealing the 3 Eon Gems. The thing is she has no idea that her mission is needless; since her sister Eve, in Edge of Eon, has saved herself.
Lara is determined to do this mission even if it costs her. She is full of surprises as she tricks, steals, and bamboozles the warrior who’s been sent to hunt her down, bring her to her sister, and collect the gems back.
Caze doesn’t fail. To him his mission and calling are everything, but this one human women is starting to have him question himself.
Things don’t go as planned for either; Lara or Caze in that the Kantos, bug aliens, end up getting in the way and causing trouble. We go on an adventure of non-stop proportions. Lots of battles and hunting take places. It’s got action, adventure, and some sexy alien times.
As for the romance; Lara and Caze do their fair share of sparing and working together; before figuring out that their is more to live then duty.
The only thing about this one was I wasn’t as in like with Lara. She’s a good character, but something about her bothered me. I will say I loved the introduction to the next sister, Wren, and her story that is to come. I enjoy when an author weaves characters in to get you ready and hooked for the next book.
I’m really liking this series. The sisters are enjoyable; each with their own personalities. Their is no shortage of world building, character development, and action to keep you entertained.
Touch Of Eon was another fabulous adventure in the Eon Warriors series and I can’t wait to continue on. Anna Hackett is a must read for any Science Fiction Romance fans. She has a way of pulling you into the world, characters, story, and romance.
So if you've read the previous book Edge of Eon then you will be excited to see this book following Lara and her exploits as she tries to steal valuable Eon gems. Trouble is Lara has no idea that her mission is needless as she's only doing it in order to save her sister who ironically has actually managed to save herself. Lara is just full of surprises as she tricks, steals and generally bamboozles the warrior who has been sent to intercept her. Caze doesn't know how to fail and to him his mission and calling is everything but facing off against the human female he really starts to question himself. Caze knows he shouldn't hurt her but unfortunately Lara clearly didn't get the same memo ! Lara doesn't believe that her task is no longer necessary so is prepared to fight Case for the gems but with the diabolical Kantos also after the priceless stones suddenly the couple have to work together to retrieve them ! I'm really enjoying this series and I was constantly delighted with Lara as she's one tough cookie. It felt as if she always had a backup idea and particularly in the beginning it was a joy to read about her tangling with the dour, somewhat methodical Caze. Caze was written in a way that quickly gained my sympathy as I could easily understand that for him feelings and relationships just didn't enter the picture but fighting alongside Lara he quickly seemed to realise that there's more to life than just his military achievements. There is still one sister to tell her story and I'm hoping its more about snark and passion and slightly less about fighting off the Kantos enemy. I do applaud the author for her wild imagination but for this reader at times things slightly took me out of the story but nevertheless I did enjoy this book and will eagerly look out for Wrens book. This voluntary take is of an advance copy and my thoughts and comments are honest and I believe fair
Loved the book more than the previous one. I’m really getting a hang of these Eon warriors. These had some interesting bugs-insects monsters villains. Their mission was also a good one. I liked how heroine bested the hero a couple of times in the beginning. Hero was very macho and adorable. Can’t wait for the next book, that’s coming out in April. Looooonggg way author! Still in the meanwhile I hope we will get some books in Gladiator series. Recommended.
As with every Anna Hackett book, ‘Touch of Eon’ is action-packed and a showcase of her wonderful imagination—it’s the main reason I always dive into her stories when they come out as a means of fond escapism.
The overall adventure is fun and I do see shades of all the pop culture syfy classic movies in it. The Eon world is a fascinating one, but I’d found the side-reveals—of the origins, their history—more interesting than a pairing that felt like a replication of the pairings that Hackett has been writing thus far.
I just wasn’t pulled into the characters at all; Lara Traynor’s boastful impudence and annoying arrogance made her unlikeable from the start and the similarity the enemies-to-lovers vibe this story bears to Eve Traynor’s and Davion’s story (stubborn, super-human earth women fighting big strong eon warriors and taunting them) makes 'Touch of Eon’ read like a copy of its predecessor save for the different challenges they go through.
Throw in the instant love and attraction which happened at the speed of light between Lara and Caze and suddenly, two protagonists who never believed in relationships are pledged as mates and believers.
Essentially, the Eon series isn’t my favourite and I’m still remaining on the sceptical side of the fence with this.
Easily flows from book 1 into book2 with a great lead in at the end of book1.
Great chemistry and lot of bad assery from both Lara and Caze. There is a solid storyline to follow, however, as I said about book one at times it can seem familiar.
Touch of Eon is the second book in the Eon Warriors series and what a ride this Sci Fi romance is. I love that Anna can write any genre and still make a great story for readers to get lost in. I have read a lot of her books and can say I have enjoyed each and every one.
Blackmailed into doing someone else's dirty work Lara finds more than she bargained for when she steals highly sacred gems in order to save her sisters. What ensues is an actioned packed fun tale.
It was good to re-read this series and I enjoyed it just as much as the first time.
Special Forces Space Marine Lara Treynor has been tasked to steal three sacred gems from the Eon. She knows it's a bad idea but she has to protect her sisters and the planet. What she doesn’t expect is the Eon warrior sent to stop her.
Lara was a dangerous woman who was determined to see her mission through. She was dedicated, hard working, and could kick some major ass. She has dedicated her life to taking care of everyone else so as you can imagine she holds a lot of her pain inside. Caze was the perfect partner for Lara because he let her fight her own battles but would still comfort and support her.
Caze is a protective alpha male who is used to everyone obeying him. He doesn’t know what to do with Lara at first. She constantly was challenging him and disobeying his orders. He needs a mate who will support him but also challenge him and Lara was that mate. These two were a kickass couple who did some major damage to the Kantos.
This book also gave us more information on the Kantos and what they are planning to do. This bug-like species is both fascinating and disgusting. I can always count on Hackett to create interesting alien enemies. This book was packed with action, romance, and lots of aliens. I cannot wait to read the next one.
This book starts in the same vein as book one - MCs pitted against each other, fighting, and finding each other hot AF as they defend against the evil bugs. Insta-attraction between badasses. There’s not as much action as in book one… or rather action sequences are more drawn out and with less octane.
I don’t feel the storytelling is quite as good in book 2 verses 1 because I lost interest several times between 40-70%. Not that anything is bad per say. I think my issue is that it feels like a slightly dissimilar and lesser version of book one. Even the MCs feel that way… good, but I can’t help compare them to book one’s MCs, and that leaves them feeling very similar yet not as good.
It picks up action after 70%, and inserts Wren’s storyline for the setup of book 3 at around 88%, but I’m still just not as into this as I was its predecessor.
Conclusion: Good, but not great. Wren (book 3) looks like a new dynamic of nerd meets warrior. So, I’ll give it a go.
After reading Edge of Eon (Book #1) I knew immediately I needed to read this one and it's follow up with the girls' sister, Wren. This story did not disappoint and I absolutely loved the character of Lara. There is nothing better than a badass female character who charges first into battle, without a single weapon on her. Lara is so fearless she even shocks her mate, Caze. She can fight better and dirtier than a man and then most underestimate her, she just makes it look to easy.
Lara the eldest sister, has been sent on a impossible mission by the Earth group Space Corps. (An absolutely selfish and invasive government program might I add.) Shes supposed to steal 3 sacred Eon jewels from three Eon planets. When we meet her she is on her way to stealing the final jewel. Of course running into a Eon warrior hunting for her is more like a game and she is a true wonder at what she does. More often than not she gets the drop on Caze and I was surprised sometimes too, she just comes outta nowhere lol.
I was none too happy when they met up with the Kantos (evil bug like aliens) who of course being pure EVIL create other disgusting pests to kill, eat and destroy all they view as enemies. Now when I say they run into some nasty creepy crawlies I'm not even joking. Things with more legs than I could count, creatures with acid spit/blood, tentacles, giant spiders, flesh eating bugs etc. I mean I literally would have just died, there is no way I would be able to keep my cool but Lara just dives in like it's any other day. She was such a fun and wild character it was nice to see the two fall in love when neither of them believed in the concept before. Together they test one another and I think Caze secretly loves having the most badass chick around, of course he'd never admit it ;) All in all I am literally dying for Wren's story which is coming out next. She may not be a fighter but she's smarter than most and if she's anything like her sister's her story will not disappoint, can't wait!
This was the same formula as the first one. Human woman meets alien warrior, they fight and she ends up being his mate. Felt pretty similar to the first one to be honest. Didn’t feel like anything new was introduced besides maybe the characters personalities. It was an easy read to help me out of a slump and I’ll continue the series.
The oldest sister steals the last gem and the heart of a Win warrior. In this latest book that continues from the first book so make sure you read it first in this new series of hot aliens and the Earth women who loves them.
Loved the h, she was absolutely amazing but too much action bored me to death. Something is happening in every page, the mcs are constantly fighting against the enemy. Constantly. All. The. Time.
Oh Wow! Anna Hackett has done it again! I absolutely loved this action packed and steamy Sci-Fi Romance, but if you have a thing about bugs....
'Touch of Eon', the second book in the Eon Warriors series picks up the story of Space Corps Special Forces Space Marine Lieutenant Lara Traynor that began towards the end of book one, 'Edge of Eon' and is a terrific addition to Anna Hackett's new series. Action packed and edgy with humour and steam, this terrific sci-fi adventure once again demonstrates why her amazing imagination and story telling abilities have made her one of my all-time favourite authors, no matter what genre she's writing in. But, I'll warn you now, if you have a thing about bugs, you may want to start reading this early in the day, with lots of light....
Like her younger sister Eve, Lara has essentially been blackmailed into what, at first glance, has all the hallmarks of a suicide mission. In short, enter Eon space, where Terrans are persona non-grata, and steal their three sacred stones from temples on different planets and hold them hostage in order to get help from the Eon in their impending war with the insectoid Krantos. Yep, not really the best way to go about it, but so far, the Space Corps 'powers that be' haven't exactly demonstrated any form of higher intelligence and whoever cooked up this particular strategy of asking for help should be sacked - for rank incompetence. But thanks to the successful outcome of Eve's mission, the Eon are aware of the plan and have sent the Security Commander of the Desteron, Caze Vann-Jad to try and catch her, and he almost managed it but the slippery woman got away from him. Now he's angry and even more determined, almost has her again on Thalla, but the Krantos want the stones too and have set a trap....
I absolutely loved this terrific story with it's action, adventure and even some steamy bits. It's humorous and downright laugh out loud funny in places with a hunkalicious hero and feisty heroine who strike sparks off each other and have chemistry you can almost feel as they work together against the Krantos, but there are parts of this book that made my skin crawl, and I don't have a thing about bugs! In places there were scenes so intense they had me holding my breath as our heroes battled to escape or just simply survive, places I was on the edge of my seat rooting for the good guys and places that had me twitching to get away and trying to force the characters to run. Phew! By the time I got to the end, I was emotionally drained and desperate for the happily ever after... Thankfully, I got it! But then I always do with Anna Hackett's books. There are no cliff-hangers here, although there is the beginning of the next story near the end of the book and I can't wait to read it. I've given 'Touch of Eon' 5 spectacularly well-earned stars and a place on my 'rescue if the house is burning down' list. I'm also pretty sure this book will be a permanent resident on my 'read again' list.
The second of the Traynor sisters sent out to save the planet by harrowing the VERY PEOPLE WHO HAVE THE POTENTIAL TO SAVE THEM is up and she's met her match in Caze. Or maybe he met his match in her. Either way, these two spar and spark and it's really no surprise that they'd end up being perfect for one another what with all the heat between them.
But before we get to them, I'd just like to point out that the higher ups who thought it would be a good idea to antagonize a race of beings who have the ability to take on the bad guys coming for Earth DO NOT HAVE GOOD DIPLOMACY SKILLS. I mean, really. Just because their hair-brained scheme happened to work out in a way that's ultimately beneficial to the people of Earth does not mean it was a good idea in the first place.
But let's not talk about them and what I hope the higher-ups have coming to them. Let's talk about Caze and Lara. They're both crazy driven and competitive and unwilling to back off in the face of overwhelming odds. Which pretty much makes them meant for one another simply because they're so perfectly matched.
They fight. They generate some heat. They go after the bad guys. And, MAN, are they fun. I love some good banter in between trying to beat the crud out of one another.
This second installment in the Eon Warriors series is like the previous one, a full action-packed romance with two badass characters. While they began their journey on a merry chase, Caze running after Lara, they soon have to join force against the ugly insect-like aliens, the Kantos. From the beginning they go along very well, matched in combat tactics, and competing in stubbornness, their lack of faith in love is also why it was so sweet to see them so quickly fall for another. They are two lonely souls, each having faced a challenging and far from easy upbringing which left deep scars in their mind. I loved following their journey to retrieve the Eon’s artefacts which lead them to discover more about themselves. One more very entertaining read by Mrs Anna Hackett.
This was a solid and kickass continuation in the Traynor sisters versus Eon Warriors series. I loved the spirit and spunk that was Lara and how well she went against the stoic and practically immovable Caze. Their chemistry and interactions were blazing and entertaining in all the best of ways. I would reread this book, definitely, and recommend it. Cant wait for book three!!
This book is just the thing if you're missing an entertaining vivid action movie. The heroes are competent and hot. They're detailed and believable, but Lara discards her objections to a relationship with almost no effort in my eyes, which I found strange. The villains are simple unsympathetic baddies. They're inventive, but other than their grossness, not very interesting. Great action scenes, clear writing, excellent pacing. I received a review copy.
For adult readers Caze is an Eon Warrior. Caze is only interested in his mission and the security of his ship and captain. Caze was raise to feel nothing but loyalty. Lara is a Terran warrior, raised herself with 2 sisters because her dad died and her mom fell into a bottle. Who will win when these two collide? Great story. They have much in common, yet learn much from each other. This is book 2 is this series, but can be read as a stand alone with no problem.
DNF at 28%. I enjoyed the first one in this series so much. It was so fun. This one just feels trite and boring. “Oh no... I’m so attracted I must kiss you at risk of being caught and killed”. Ugh. Too one dimensional.
Also, these amazing warriors get attacked on their home planet!? It was one thing to be attacked on some planet that’s just there for training, but makes no sense to have this in a main population and power center. Too much of a repeat from the first book.
I loved Lara’s sheer ballsieness, she’s a true AH h. Who wouldn’t fall in love with this amazing woman. Another amazing story, with plenty of nail biting moments and whole new alien species to fear. Perfect!
I couldn’t wait to read this book. Anna did not disappoint me. It was fast, action packed and kept me reading until I finished it in one sitting. Can’t wait for the next one!
Anna has truly outdone herself with this series. It's her best work to date. Loaded with action and romance tied up in a well developed world and characters.
So while I loved the first book in the series, this second but I was just OK. It was more of the same from the first book. The first book was a fun adventure, the second book was kind of a mediocre imitation of the first book. The couple meet, they fight each other, they fight the bugs, they have sex, fight the bugs, have sex, and on and on that cycle goes. It all was more fun in book one. However, once you got below the layer of the constant fighting and battling of these bugs, it was nice to see Lara and Caze connect on a romantic level. Hopefully the third book will bring something different because the third sister is not a warrior like these first two were.
And again...who has sex on the run from enemies who can shoot you?? Ugh. Stupid idea... Besides that, there was way too much sex for my liking! They were humping like bunnies every chance they got. In the end, if you take out all the sex scenes, the book would be much shorter.
Lara was tasked to steal sacred stones from the Eon empire to get their attention... to try and get them to help Earth defend against the Kantos. Great plan Space Corps! But since she assigned Eve has became Ambassador and mated to the War commander...so he sends his trusted guard Cruz to return Lara unharmed to Eve.. now Lara is not the most trusting soul in the galaxy, and despite numerous occasions where Cruz indicated that her mission was dissolved she did not believe him. But they attacked in his shuttle by the Kantos soldiers and they have to believe in each other to survive. His symbiont allows her to share his weapons and armour. Short and sweet with just enough danger to feel real. Still loving this universe!
Too much repetition, too many plot holes and unnecessary deus-ex-machina rescues
*Review might contain some spoilers*
I was so looking forward to the second instalment of Anna Hackett’s Eon Warrior series and I really wanted to like it more, but it took me days to plow my way thru it.
One of my main problems was the sheer repetetiveness of it: all Lara and Caze seem to be doing is fight Kantos, get hurt, flee to a Eon healing station, get turned on by each others fighting prowess and mate like rabbits, rinse and repeat this cycle several times. Only each time the are fighting bugs there seem to be more and more of them, and not only in number, but also in kind: there are elites, there are grunts, there are slimy bugs, there are flying bugs, there are flesh-eating bugs (that hatch from eggs like a scene from Aliens) and there are giant spiders that completely cover you in their threads until you are mummified like poor Frodo.
Then there are the ever-expanding features of the helian, the symbiont Eon warriors are bonded with in their puberty: I can totally get behind the idea that a symbiont (parasite) protects and even heals its host, after all it’s dependent on the host for its survival. But not only can the symbiont be formed into armor and swords, no, it also takes the shape of blasters and ropes and even throwing stars (which begs the question how it deals with the loss of mass). It can also be commanded by the host’s mate and it not only can shape itself into a helmet, no, it also turns carbon dioxide into oxygen. But where it really lost me was how it continued to protect the mate of the host even after they were physically separated. I think what bothered me most was how the symbiont was used like a deus-ex-machina device: each time the hero/heroine got into a seemingly hopeless situation the symbiont developed/revealed some new ability which then saved them, which seems like a weak plot strategy.
Number three: very poor decision making displayed by heroine, hero and everybody else. First who thinks it’s a good idea to steal from and blackmail somebody whose help you are trying to gain? But okay, let’s say we let this pass as this is actually how earth governments often behave: they try to gain some leverage to force the other side into compliance… I also get that the Lara agrees to her mission in order to exonerate her sister, Eve, but what I absolutely don’t get is how she goes on believing her government after know what the Space Corps did to her sister and after being presented evidence that her government has been lying to her she chooses to disregard facts and just goes blindly on believing what she believes. If this sounds eerily familiar (like supporters of certain leader figures) then because it is and I have no patience with this kind of willful ignorance. The other example has to do with the stolen gems. So let’s say your enemy has stolen three items from you that have the potential to be weaponized against you. You manage - more by dumb luck than actual skill – to recover to of the items. But instead of waiting to rendezvous with the rest of your force to secure the two recovered items you carry them with you when you make a very dangerous attempt to get the third one and your commander goes along with the plan, thus risking losing again the two that you have already recovered. How does this make any strategic sense?
All these things kept bothering me, so I was unable to enjoy or indeed appreciate the romance between Lara and Caze. Overall sadly rather disappointing, so 3 stars from me.
