Cornelius Garrett, Lord Ambrose, has withdrawn from society in the wake of scandal in order to focus on finding the numerous illegitimate children that his father sired. Desperate to locate his many siblings and build some semblance of a family for himself, Cornelius is ill-prepared for the many complications that his most recently discovered sibling, Lila, brings with her—namely her older sister, Primrose Collier.
Primrose is the most stunningly beautiful woman he’s ever encountered. She’s also fiercely proud and protective with a well-founded distrust for the opposite sex. It takes all of his considerable powers of persuasion to convince her to bring her young siblings and move to his estate, Avondale.
However, no good deed goes unpunished. Cornelius’ unscrupulous neighbor, Lord Samford, also has a prior acquaintance with the Collier family. Threatened by their presence and the ugly secrets of his past that they might expose, Samford sets out to eliminate what he views as a complication.
Samford’s machinations result in Prim being injured and spending a night, unchaperoned, with Cornelius. In order to preserve Prim’s reputation and also to afford her and her siblings more protection, Cornelius proposes marriage. But it isn’t all duty and obligation. For the first time in his life, Cornelius must find balance between what honor demands and what he desires.
Determined to stop Samford at any cost, they set out on a journey fraught with danger and with discovery. Primrose has awakened something inside him he did not know existed—something fierce, passionate and impetuous. Could it be love?

3.5 stars 🌟 Lord Ambrose goes looking for his younger half sister. Not only does he find her , he also find his sole mate. These books need to be read in sequence as characters and stories line follow in each book .
❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ 💋 Cornelius ,Lord Ambrose is so sweet . A perfect gentleman in every sense of the word . Primrose is his hearts desire, she’s feisty, a bit of a wary one , but that’s because of her upbringing, and her bad experiences with men . Who better to show her that not all men are the same , that some can be trusted , than our luscious Lord . The two of them are in for a wonderful romance and and adventure that brings about an unexpected but not necessarily unwanted Wedding . Another Five star novel from one of my favourites. Chasity Bowlin has a gift that has me constantly waiting for her next book release. This one is ,as always, Brilliant! I received an advance copy of this book and chose to submit a review
I’ve loved this series and this was a book that had me enthralled from the first pages. The characters were all very likeable, including the children, Lila and Rowen. Primrose hadn’t had an easy life and this coloured her thinking. Cornelius, Lord Ambrose felt an immediate connection with Primrose. Their relationship was endearing, especially when they declared their innermost feelings. There are a number of dangerous events and the introduction of Kitty, who I look forward to reading more about.
Decent. A lot of tropes crammed into one space, but i enjoyed it for that, a lot. Just what i'd been looking for. Also, interesting and surprising societal inclusions? A mother who's a prostitute, bastard children everywhere, women with agency, surprising rhetoric on men in the world...solid quick, semi-fluff read.
I was very happy with this story until Lady Wolverton was getting some gowns for Prim and Lord Ambrose moved into the sunlight and it said it picked up the strands of silver in his hair. It is never said, but I assumed Prim was 22 and Cornelious was about 28. Well, not with silver in his hair. He is some old fuck and she is a young chick. Damn, I hate stories like this. Make them similar ages, please. Plenty of brides were older or of similar age at that time. Not all were old men marrying teenagers. Yuck! Pedophilia!!
The Awakening of Lord Ambrose The Lost Lords #6 By Chasity Bowlin ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Cornelius Garrett, Lord Ambrose, has withdrawn from society due to scandal and has decided to look for the many illegitimate children that his father sired hoping to make them a family. He may be desperate and dead set on finding them, but he is not prepared for the complications that one of his discovered siblings, Lila, will bring with her namely her older sister, Primrose Collier.
Primrose Collier is the most beautiful woman that he's ever met. She's fiercely proud and very protective. She also distrusts the opposite sex and it takes alot of persuasion to get her to bring her younger siblings and move into his estate, Avondale.
Lord Samford who is Cornelius' neighbor has had a prior acquaintance with the Collier family and feels threatened by their presence. He is afraid that they will expose his past and the ugly secrets involved so sets out to eliminate what he views as a complication.
Chasity Bowlin is such a talented writer. She knows just what her readers want. Her main characters are so perfect. Cornelius is such a gentleman and what I would call a gentle creature. He sees that Primrose has been hurt before so he treads slowly with her, but doesn't care because she's everything he's ever wanted. They have an adorable romance that ends in their getting married quickly. I don't want to say more and ruin the book, but as usual Ms. Bowlin gives us another perfect book that will leave you satisfied and smiling.
Disappointing. This story is all over the place. It starts out with Ambrose claiming that he wants to track all his siblings that his father sired because he wants to have a family. He tracks down Lila and upon observing the squalid conditions, he invites her family to his estate. He says he has a cottage that he can let them stay in there that is in better condition than the one they currently renting. Here is where it goes wonky. He doesn't move them into a guest cottage. He moves them in with him. Lila's older sisters are not related to him, so this inappropriate. They suggest he hired them as maids or servants. This actually would have made sense because the sisters were already taking in laundry and sewing to make ends meet when he found them. He is apparently smitten with Lila's older sister, Primrose. For all of his promises, it seems like she benefits from the arrangement more his half-sister. He outfitted Prim for a full wardrobe while her siblings were still wearing rags and hand-me-downs. The justification was that she had sacrificed for her family. Her older sister sacrificed just as much if not more. Hyacinth had even damaged her eyesight and was prone to chronic migraines. Of course, these went untreated and who knows if she ever got those spectacles. Then he claims that he can't have unmarried women living with him who were not relations. So Prim has to marry him. (Not the oldest sister, which would have made more.sense). I didn't notice the part about him having grey hair as another reader pointed out. But yeah this had strong "groomng " vibes. Then there a carriage accident which somehow calls for him to have her ride bareback on horse with a dislocated shoulder to a neighbor's house instead of riding town with her family to seek medical help. Of course said neighbor wasn't home, so he spends a full day with her, unchaperoned. He doses her with laudanum for her dislocated shoulder while waiting for her siblings to reach his doctor brother. Why didn't they just ride with the siblings? Oh yeah, He needs to convince her that they need to marry while she's under the influence. Then there's this kidnapping story with some side characters that just drags on and is completely unnecessary. It seems this story went nowhere. I learned nothing about the characters. It doesn't make sense that this story takes place over a few days. They make a bit deal how much Primrose resembles her mother(since apparently everyone knew her), but a rich heiress can get assaulted and abducted on a public street in broad daylight. Everyone knows about it but there seems to be no law enforcement around. Apparently, Ambrose taking in a dead prostitute's kids was way more important.Did not finish.

An unexpected romance due to starting in a most unusual way! Cornelius, Lord Ambrose is on a mission that is really terrible. He is trying to make retribution to the illegitimate children his father sired. Can you image? He is such a gentle soul and when he comes across one, namely Lila, he finds her older sister Primrose one of the most gorgeous women he has ever seen. But she is very protective of her sister and does not trust men (can you blame her?). Finally he persuades them to move to his estate so he can take care of them and try to make up for what has been endured. But fate steps in, as it often does, in the form of a blackguard of a neighbor who knows Primrose's family, which will not do because they know some of his secrets. He sets out to make sure those are never verbally know. What does he kill her? Does he whisk her away? Not to give any of the story away, it does end in a quick marriage but will it work out for Cornelius and Primrose? Chasity Bowlin always writes a wonderful story that pulls you in and does not let go until the end. I love her descriptions and characters that make you feel invested in their lives. This can be read as a standalone, although part of a series, but you will want to read them all!!
Cornelius Garrett, Lord Ambrose lived his life trying to be as different from his father as possible. It didn't stop him from landing in scandal though. He is now trying to find all the bastard siblings that his father left him, and see if he can build a family. Miss Primrose Collier is the second daughter of a woman who believed that the next man was the right one. She has made a point of staying as far away from that sort of life as possible. The man who claims her younger sister as his half sister threatens to make her true nature surface. This is a story of self discovery for our characters. Are they naughty like their parents, or good like they have worked so hard to be ??? This is a lot of fun, with an unexpected adventure. I desperately need to read "Kitty's" story now.
I have enjoyed this entire series and can't wait for more - stories for Hyacinth & Kitty?
Cornelius Garrett Lord Ambrose has pulled from society after killing a man, even though is was self defense & he was found innocent. He has spent his time searching for half siblings fathered by his immoral rake of a father who left a string of bastards to survive on their own. His search has led him to The Collier family; Hyacinth, Primrose, Lila & Rowan. Lila is Cornelius' younger 1/2 sister & he wants to make up for his father's negligence & offer her a better life.
Beautiful Primrose Collier is the daughter of a prostitute & even though living on the street, she has managed not be compromised & has no use for men. She fights any help that Ambrose offers & sparks fly between them. Murders, kidnapping, trust issues, love & marriage follow. The characters are wonderful & you get to revisit a couple of characters from previous books.
I highly recommend this book & the whole series to all historical romance readers.
This book was entertaining enough. However, it read more like a bridge connecting two books rather than the love story of Ambrose and Prim. In this book, we pick up the story of Ambrose from a previous book (The Resurrection of Lady Ramsleigh - which I recommend). He meets Prim, who has a history but doesn't develop much after that, much like the other characters in this book except one. I suspect that character's book is on the other side of the "bridge".
I was disappointed by the abrupt ending. I wanted more of this book to be fleshed out. Ambrose and Primrose had the makings of a great couple - their names end with "rose"! (cute). They were also a good team against the villian. With his knowledge of society and her street smarts, they could have done exciting things!
I don't believe the books in this series are described as standalone though some might enjoy reading out of order. For me, there is not enough closure from one book to the next so I suggest reading them in sequence if possible.
From the moment she set her eyes on him, Primrose Collier knew she was in deep trouble. She was not the reason he had come, and she never allow herself to succumb to the feelings he stirred.
From the moment he set his eyes on her, Cornelius Garrett, Lord Ambrose, knew he was in deep trouble. She was not the reason he had come, but she would become is future...hopefully.
Good, bad or boring, everyone has a past. As the lead characters in The Awakening of Lord Ambrose, Primrose and Cornelius act and make decisions based on their similarly scarred pasts. Only when they meet and share a mutual goal are they able to allow their pasts to guide but not hinder their relationship.
Chasity Bowlin is a very good writer, and her engrossing read has all the elements of an entertaining story with a happy ending.
Content 411: In addition to a light amount of (secular and religious) swearing, there is a moderately described sexually intimate scene.
Lord Cornelius Ambrose is a rather staid, proper young lord. He’s learned through his father’s poor example and personal tragedy that society judges one with a harsh view. Primrose is a young woman and she and her siblings were raised with very little as a result of her mother’s failings. She too knows that not everyone has good intentions. The two are thrown together by a link of familiarity that results in a situation fraught with intrigue and danger. Cornelius wishes to protect Prim and her siblings, and to do so involves action on his part. But will Prim agree? Can he truly keep her from harm? Can he keep her from his own ardent desire for her? Another terrific tale in the Lost Lord series, and I enjoyed it very much! I simply must know what has happened to another character, Kitty, and am thrilled to read there will be a novella as this is the last book in this series. I recommend them all.
Cornelius Garrett, Lord Ambrose, has left society in the wake of scandal and now he’s focused on finding his father’s many illegitimate children. Pacifically one Lila Collier whose older sister is Primrose Collier. She’s distrustful of men and is fiercely protective of her younger sister, but she’ll do anything even move to the estate of a man she doesn’t trust, doesn’t like and simply has very little use for. He convinces the woman and her siblings to come to his family’s estate where his neighbor Lord Samford become anxious the Collier family and what secrets they might expose. Cornelius and Prim learn to trust one another, he’s never had a family and finds he enjoys having them around and she learns a few men can be trusted. A captivating story of love and romance with a little mystery and intrigue thrown in to make a great story. This my honest opinions after I voluntarily read a copy of this book that was provided to me with no requirements for a review.
Whilst Cornelius is rescuing Primrose and her siblings will she rescue him in return?
Cornelius Garrett, Lord Ambrose has withdrawn from society following the scandal caused when he shot the man trying to kill his half brother’s intended.
He is also trying to find the illegitimate siblings left behind by his father.
He has managed to find Lila and persuades her older sister Primrose that his intentions are honourable. They all go with him to his home.
However, whilst there the paternity of the brother Rowan becomes obvious and causes danger to the whole family. Lord Samford has been involved in various highly unpleasant schemes throughout the other books and once again he causes problems not just to Rowan, Primrose and the others.
This has been a very enjoyable series - there are just two more stories to go which can be found in anthologies.
Totally enjoyed this well-written, intriguing historical English royalty romance. In-depth character development of this novel of a family of half-siblings whose life was turned around when a son of a now deceased Lord, Lord Ambrose, attempts to contact his father's illegitimate child, Lilac, to support her. In the meantime, he falls in love with one of her half-sisters. Included is drama, a bit of mystery and danger when the family's ties are exposed. Highly recommended for those who enjoy this genre.
Extremely Disappointing! The Story was okay, could have been better. It's kinda slow. Primrose's Character is understandable, albeit the Storyline just didn't flow well. Cornelius, Lord Ambrose was a Wonderful Character. There were to many Characters in this Story that I was unsure who's Story the Book was about. Kitty had been kidnapped & yet in the Story, she had yet to found by anyone who mattered. Her Story is left hanging. The Love between Primrose & Cornelius went so fast at the end, I was extremely Disappointed.
In beginning of book. Garret is talking about a letter received by his father from Lila's mother. The letter was written when Lila was 7 and Rowan was 2. The age difference is 5 years. Currently books says Lila is now 11 and Rowan is now 9?!! This threw me out of the book. Plus I was looking forward to hearing the exploits of a six year old boy as opposed to a nine year old. Don't like it when mistakes like that happen and it's easy enough to catch.
I have enjoyed reading the Lost Lords Series by Chasity Bowlin. This story is about Lord Ambrose, Cornelius Garrett trying to find his siblings and the Collier family. In the Collier family are Hyacinth, Primrose, Lila and Rowan. Lila is Lord Ambrose half sister. He wants to make up for his father’s neglect. Events start happening and you meet more people, some good, some bad! I hope that you will read and enjoy the story
I enjoyed this novel from beginning to end. I chose it from a recent list on Bookbub and it made an afternoon’s pleasant reading.
All of the characters held an appeal and in particular Primrose and Cornelius. I couldn’t help but care for them and hope that they would find what they wanted and needed in one another.
It was satisfying to see ‘goodness’ prevail and for wickedness to get what it deserves.
I am looking forward to reading more about Kitty. Another feisty young woman.
With a tortured hero who is harder on himself than anyone else and a heroine who's determined not to follow in her disgraced mother's footsteps, this could have been a story brimming over with angst, jumps to conclusions, and idiotic misunderstandings. Thank goodness, it's not. Actually, what we have here is a well-written, well-edited story filled with insight and candor and maybe a bit too much introspection and narrative prose. It moves at a steady, deliberate pace--not much excitement or action--but remains engaging. Nicely done.
I have loved every book in this series. This one can be read alone easily, but is so much better when read in order. Love the time and detail the author puts in to ensure the reader feels like you are there, a fly on the wall of sorts, watching the events unfold. Attention the details makes following the mystery more compelling and falling in love a more passionate affair. Also love that the author gets all this done without the use of profanity and vulgarity.
I just the most wonderful story of true love! It’s surely a dream come true to find the perfect person for you, your soulmate, someone you didn’t know that you missed before even meeting them. I have no true romantic love in my life, but Ms. Bowlin allows a glimpse of it through her wonderful books! Kudos once again to the author on yet ANOTHER truly remarkable book!
I’m not sure what I expected but this story was humorous. A little mystery. A little adventurous. Heat, although placed at the end, was a bit overdone. It was built up in the storyline but felt strained when it finally occurred. Other than that, good storyline, the little toad got his just desserts. The build up for the story of one of the minor characters made me go digging in order to follow up on reading her/ their story. Rounded up from 4.5 to 5.
Cornelius and Primrose's story is a delightful romance with a lot of intrigue and mystery. Lord Ambrose has a good heart and wants to put family first. So while on that path he meets Primrose, but there is evil a foot. This is the sixth book in the Lost Lord's Series. If you are searching for an enjoyable romance to read with some mystery involved, pick this up.
Primrose was a daughter of a prostitute determined to lead a different life than her mother! Cornelius was determined to find all the bastards sired by his father and do right by them! His search lead him to Primrose whose younger sister is Cornelius half sibling! Cornelius shows Primrose there are honorable men and a love worth having! I love this series!
