It’s hard for me to imagine that I’ve been writing romances for over twenty years now! I started at the young age of 21, just after I got married. Reading romances, and then writing them, came about as a result of having too much time on my hands. When I first married my husband Don, I was working a regular nine to five job and he worked swing shift, from four in the afternoon until midnight. It wasn’t an ideal schedule for newlyweds, and in order to pass those hours when I was alone I started reading romances, and eventually tried my hand at writing them.
The road to publication wasn’t an easy one. It took me five years and dozens of rejections to make my first sale, which was to Harlequin for their “Stolen Moments” line. THE FAMILY MAN, written under the pseudonym Danielle Kelly, was one of the twelve novellas published in 1993 for this promotional line.

It took me another two and a half years (and more rejections!) to sell my second book. HEAVEN’S GIFT (written under my own name) was published in October 1995 by Leisure Love Spell for their “An Angel’s Touch” series. Another two years passed of collecting even more rejections before I finally sold to Harlequin Romance and Harlequin Temptation. At the time, writing for both Temptation and Harlequin Romance provided me with a wonderful creative outlet for both my modern, ultra-sexy stories, and my warmer, traditional romances. But as the years passed, I realized how much I enjoyed writing the sexier stories and streamlined my career accordingly so that I was no longer writing the sweet traditional romances, and instead focused on the hotter, sexier stories for Temptation and Blaze.

After writing over two dozen books for Harlequin, I decided to branch out. I wanted to write anthologies and single titles, and came up with an idea about three sexy brothers with the last name of “Wilde”. Little did I know that those Wilde brothers would become such a sensation with readers. In the second Wilde book, WILDE THING, four Wilde cousins were introduced, and readers started writing in for their stories, too. It’s been a joy and pleasure to write each of the Wilde stories, and I want to thank everyone for purchasing those books and putting them on the USA Today Bestseller list!

I’ve been a full-time writer for years, which consists of being deep in deadlines, writing proposals (growling at the husband to fix a glitch in the computer so I can get back to work!), perusing contracts, line-edits (stressing over a scene that won’t work or characters that just won’t talk or cooperate with my plans for them!), galleys, art-fact sheets, promotion, and other publishing paperwork. Admittedly, I wouldn’t trade all the craziness in for pantyhose, rush hour traffic, and a nine-to-five job again. Writing is hard work, but I find the rewards are well worth the effort. Fan letters are one of those priceless rewards, and can keep me on a high for days! I’ve met the most wonderful people through my books, some of which I now consider good friends.

The Story

The Romance
Clichéd, rushed, undeveloped.

Genre
Syrupy sweet contemporary erotic romance.

Not bad.

Ending
Not so surprisingly, it's

Recommended?
It depends on how much you are into hot, misunderstood surgeons, hot nights in luxury hotels, jewelry, petals in the bath, champagne and sweet words.

Loved the premise of Seducing Santa, by Janelle Denison, but the story was a miss for me. Turned off of relationships by her last boyfriend, Faith Roberts decides to proposition pediatric surgeon Matthew Carlton for one night as a Christmas gift to herself. He’s been after her for months and jumps at the chance to be with her hoping to prove a relationship with him is worth the risk.

Who doesn’t love the idea of falling for a pediatric surgeon? Especially one who dresses up as Santa for the hospital’s children’s Christmas party! That’s about where my like of this book ended. The author used too many adjectives for my liking. The language in general was an issue for me. Denison’s grammar was fine but the word choices got me, words that either turned me off or seemed unsuited, unflattering, personally incompatible or generally incongruous for the situation. I stress that these were things for me, not necessarily for everyone. As a consequence though, I didn’t really enjoy the sex. There was no current conflict between Faith and Matthew. The barriers were based on Faith’s past and rumours about Matthew. Because of this I found the story a little flat. I never felt much of a spark between them, at least not one I got excited about. The whole story ended up a little clichéd and overly perfect by the end. It just wasn’t for me.

I really enjoyed this story but it was way to short for me. The hero invited the heroine to spend Christmas with him and his parents, his siblings and their children. I was hoping to read about that. But, the story ended without that.

Such a great quick story!!! God I love these!!

Elementary School Teacher lusts surgeon in a charming proposition for one night of unforgettable sex. These two have more chemistry then they are willing to admit, but a HEA for sure!!

Faith has been lusting after pediatrician Matthew Carlton for a year and has shied away from him knowing he wasn’t marriage material. But she’s ready to give herself an incredible night with him, hoping to get him out of her system before moving on from her attraction. Little does she know that Matthew has been falling in love with her and sees her invitation as the perfect opportunity to show him how much he cares and that he wants a real relationship with her.

Cute, but confusing. First of all, it’s established that he’s a surgeon and she’s a school teacher. But they start out in a hospital while he’s playing Santa and she’s doing whatever...it’s never explained why she’s there or how she knows him or how on Earth she knows all about his gossip. She’s a schoolteacher and from the sound of it she spends every last free moment in the hospital or something. That or the author made her a nurse at first and then switched it. Because even in the end, he says something about her not worrying about the gossip among the nurses. Why would she care? She doesn’t even in work there! Aside from that it’s quick and dirty - the story and the relationship. Hot sex ensues but the feelings seem a bit too fast coming on and neither character is all that well developed, even for a novella.

I give this holiday novella 4.5 stars.

What I Liked: I loved the writing as well as the story which had me hooked from the start. I also really liked the characters, the excellent pacing, and the perfect amount (for me) of descriptiveness! I was especially happy with how up front and genuine/tender Matthew was with Faith. My heart melted! The smexiness was pretty hot too!

What I Didn't Like: The middle 50% started to get a tad stale and predictable. Plus Faith's internal dialog in regards to her trust issues started to become broken-record-esque. I also felt the ending was unsatisfying , and the reason behind the lower rating.

Overall Impression: Ultimately, I felt this was a very sexy, fun, and enjoyable read. It's by far the best "holiday" romance I've read. Certainly a novella I plan to keep/re-read and recommend often.

Nice little short story HEA romance. Nothing that really stood out to make it a great read.

The usual, woman lusting after handsome doctor who's playing Santa. Tells Santa that she want's one night of passion with him, of which he agrees to. Of course he doesn't want it to only be one night, so he must convince her otherwise so they can have a Merry Christmas.

Okay, so this was much better than I was anticipating and it turned out to be a cute steamy story. Faith wants one night with hunky pediatric surgeon Matthew for Christmas, but I love that he is thinking along the lines of something more permanent. It ended in a bit of a cliche way, but it was still a cute read.

Faith was a school teacher but also volunteered in the children's ward. Matthew was a pediatric surgeon that had quite a reputation. This year he was playing Santa. When Faith found herself seated on santa's lap asking what she wanted for Christmas she found herself whispering that 'all I want was a night with him. Would he grant her wish? Would she go through with it or back out?

There are some Matthews left in the world today even though they are hard to find. I enjoyed this novella about faith, trust and vulnerability. Faith and Matthew were brought together because of rumors but will have the last laugh!

This was okay for me. The pace was a bit fast for me. Not my favorite in this group of novellas.
