Tickle my tummy. Stoke my lovely fur. But never forget I am a wild thing. Devoted cat lovers understand the danger of being lulled with drowsy purrs, eyes half-closed, and the caress of a sandpaper tongue - only to be swiped by the mischievous claws of a miniature tiger. We know that a tiny bundle of fur is fully armed...can't resist a pool of sun or a flash of light...and can be a companion but never a possession. We speak the secret language of Cat.
Decode the mystery of these splendid creatures, with hundreds of whiskers, whimsical insights accompanied by enough tabbies and toms to last nine lives. There may be no such thing as a cat owner, but our fellow friends have long filled a great gap in the lives of popes and pharaohs, little kids and ladies next door, dominating households and plotting to take over the world.
Pros: a quick read, some cute observations about cats
Cons: repetitive, as in the same saying just slightly reworded; weird photos of the cats, almost like a fish-eye lens, lots of very large kitty noses; the same orange kitten sitting with its back to the camera used at least 3 times; the structure of the book itself, as in it's small but a hardback and just not that comfortable to read
This author has really nailed the personalities of cats and the people they live with. I can’t call the people “owners” because we all know who owns whom. The captions are certainly true and to the point, and the accompanying stylistic photos add much to the enjoyment of the book. A great collection to enjoy time and again.
I really did not like the poses of the cats, kattons, and kittens. The photography did not present the best features of a cat. The sayings were kind of blasé. The best one was to tie a money bag around the cat's neck and send it to the supermarket to buy the food it likes. I can agree with that as our cat is notoriously picky when it comes to eating. This book cannot compare to Francesco Marciuliano's books of cat poems. I would buy his books at once.
I personally adored the photos that were taken of the cats. The angles are both hilarious and adorable. This book is wholesome and the photos add a touch of comedy to it. I do agree that some statements are repetitive throughout the book, but overall it’s a fun, light read that can be enjoyed by all ages.
