Blake Karrington is more than an author. He’s a storyteller who places his readers in action-filled moments. It’s in these creative spaces that readers are allowed to get to know his complex characters as if they’re really alive.
Most of Blake’s titles are in the South in urban settings that are often overlooked by the mainstream. But through Blake’s eyes, readers quickly learn that places like Charlotte, NC can be as gritty as they come. It’s in these streets of this oft overlooked world where Blake portrays murderers and thieves alike as believable characters. Without judgement, he weaves humanizing backstories that serve up compelling reasons for why a drug dealer might choose a life of crime.
Readers of speak of the roller coaster ride of emotions that ensues from feeling anger at empathetic characters who always seem to do the wrong thing at the right to keep the story moving forward.
In terms of setting,Blake’s stories introduce his readers to spaces they may or may not be used to - streetscapes with unkept, cracked sidewalks where poverty prevails, times are depressed and people are broke and desperate. In Blake storytelling space, morality is so curved that rooting for bad guys to get away with murder can sometimes seem like the right thing for the reader to do - even when it’s not.
Readers who connect with Blake find him to be relatable. Likening him to a bad-boy gone good, they see a storyteller who writes as if he’s lived in world’s he generously shares, readily conveying his message that humanity is everywhere, especially in the unlikely, mean streets of cities like Charlotte.
This is my first book by this author. & i must say it's quite a change from what i usually read. I really enjoyed it all the men had good jobs except Ant. I would like to read more of this author's books
Everything Blake drop is 5 stars in my book.. I love everything I’ve read so far, and this book is no different. I love his mind and pray his pen forever stay blessed.. 🔥🔥🔥♥️🔥🔥🔥
This book perpetuates the misconception STI’s are only passed on when having uncovered sex. The storyline omits the fact STI’s can be passed on even when protection is utilized. It was disgusting to think people intentionally infect the community without giving the freedom of choice.

Yasssss this book was the fyahhh...fast paced well written with a graphical sexual tale of man in their own form...This AUTHOR have us a peek inside the male mind how and why they react and do some of the stupidest things..ANT was my hated characters he was a bum azz dog and treated woman like sheet because a ain t sheet mama ....My fave was Rashon stuck with a greedy junkie for a baby mama he turn out to have a heart of gold and the love for his son was cream on the cake...Los grow up before my eyes with the death of his handicapped son whom he refused to claim made him see himself as a fatherless child ...SEE MY BOO FOUND LOVE IN A WOMEN WITH A LAST BUT LOVE SURVIVED ...AWESOMENESS ...YOU MUST READ THE BROTHERLY LOVE BETWEEN THESE BROTHERS ....OUT FREAKING STANDING
There were definitely different types of men in his book with very different morals. I believe my favorite character was Dorrian & my least favorite was definitely Los. His denial was sooo bad that he would basically say anything out of his mouth. Thats why Keera responded the way she did! Roshon was another one of the good guys that was messed up with the wrong female. I just dont know what to say about Ant...smh. Him & Carly got exactly what they deserved! I would definitely recommend downloading this standalone so you can see what all the drama is about. You will surely be entertained....lol.
I read this a few days back. The opening of the book drew you into the story. It popped straight off with drama, however as the book progressed, the excitement began to wear off. I was able to finish the book which is a plus. It just wasn't the most exciting ever. I think my major issue was the lack of character development. There was a lack of or non-non-exists description of most of the characters outside of Dorian. I think its important to be able to visualize the characters. It helps you connect with them. Decent read but Im glad it was a standalone
I genuinely loved this book and cast of characters! Roshon, Dorrian, Los and Ant shared such a strong bond!!! The ladies they were involved with weren't any slouches either. Carly is a dirty heffa that deserves everything that was dished out to her. Janelle got em back good😱 I felt so bad for Kerra and I'm glad to see she got on the right track. Arlene was almost to good to be true. I'm glad Doe looked a lil deeper than the surface. They almost let past tragedies interrupt a beautiful future. All in all fantastic highly motivating read about the quality of male friendship.
Whew another banger from Blake! To start this review I must say it was interesting to read this book from 4 male point of views. The theme song to this book was Toni Braxton Just Be A Man About it Lol. It was so many times I wanted to choke and cuss these men out but I will say it all came full circle. Without giving away spoilers I will say Blake was dropping jewels the whole book and I appreciated hearing from the male perspective. All four men had different life situations and outlook on life I'm glad most if them got their life together at the end. I. would definitely suggest this book as your next read.
First off Ant was a sad excuse for man how do you do the woman that’s basically taking care of you like that. That’s why that Karma was a Snapback mean Bish. Dorrian fell in love with what he thought was a good girl, when really she had a bad past. Roshon had the dumbest babymomma ever and with what happened to her he ended up stuck with more. Los was a man whore who Karma had to hit really close to home for him and when she did what he was running from ended up being taken for him to see he was living wrong. Great book!!!
Man of man. You had half of this men scum bags & the other good men. Ant & Carly got what they deserved. They had now right to do that & the fact that weren’t remorseful made it worse. I’m glad Los decided to stop being a zickhead & let Keera tie him down. He was a total a**hole to her. She’s a good one because I would not have stayed. I’m glad Dorrian didn’t let Arlene past stop him cause he would’ve been miserable for life.
I liked it. It was really ratchet though! I don't think I have seen some of that language used before, even in this type of urban fiction. And some of the characters did crazy things I hadn't seen before too! WOW. But I did like that each situation wrapped up in almost a good resolution. And as one reviewer also said, it was interesting to see relationships like this from a male perspective. WOW. Crazy!
I give this book two thumbs up. It gave me a lot of insight about men and why they do the things that they do. There were many lessons and life experiences to be learned. Four lives were transformed once they got it together. It's nice to get a man's perspective sometimes. Plus it's a standalone, an added bonus.
I really enjoyed this book! I'm really enjoying reading books from an author in my hometown. Blake Karrington is writing amazing books! Ready to read the next one!
I have never been dissatisfied with a Blake Karrington book. The guys in this book grew from idiot's to men and the women, well, I didn't see any heroism in anyone except Natalie. The stuff that popped off between the sisters was classless and her retribution was distasteful. The whole time I was thinking "Its enough sis, let that hurt go love." The "queens" were not what I expected as a Blake Character, therefore I can't in good nature rate this book a 5. Still love u Blake it's a high 4, 4.95.
Blake you put your entire soul into this book. Carly and Ant were the worst. They had no remorse for what they were doing, but they sure felt in once Janelle got finished with them. Los decided to step up to the plate and be the man he was born to be. Dorrian almost ruined a good thing by dwelling on the past. Roshon made up for his son's unhappiness, and found love in between. Those player cards were revoked.
Well maybe not Roshon... but the rest of the crew, ESPECIALLY Ant, these is a special place waiting just for him. Oh and he can take that trifling Carly right along with him. THAT'S YO DANG SISTER GURL. Alas they all got themselves on the right track though at least I will give them that. So......this was my first read of Blake Harrington even though I was familiar with his name now that I am familiar with his work, this will NOT be the last.
Never have I ever enjoyed a book that had sooo many main characters.
These people were a trip and a half right out the gate.
It was very well written and realistic. This types of characters and story lines happen in real life every day.
It may not always happen all at once or even all to the same group of people but this is really life sadly. Love how it was from the males point of view.
This book was different but good. I enjoyed each of the men’s perspective. Carly had truly pissed me off. Ant showed that hurt people hurt people. I’m glad Doe was able to look past Arlene past. I think Los and Keera would make it long term. Ros and Nat surely have a tribe but it works.
This book was so good the story of four men in their lives being in a relationship their personal childhood the women were well match for men kids including all about package when going into relationship Karma did her job I enjoyed reading with laughter well written love the story gave a insight on man mind they do have heart and feeling
I have to say, this was a very interesting story. It's not usually my cup of tea to read about 8 characters in one sitting. However, with that being said there were definitely 8 different characters. Not the usual 8 characters that are all the same with different names.
This was a great read. Happy that it wasn't a sequel. And I will continue to read from this author. 😃
This is the first book I have read from this author and I must say I’m impressed. I came across this book in a snippet of another story. The wait for this story was worth it. The storyline for the fellas in this book was relatable and entertaining all in one. Thanks for laughs and the tears. Well done .
I'm a big fan of Blake Karrington and knew I was going to love this book when he posted it on fb. I just didn't imagine how much so. Love reading about my City (QC in da house). This book had me not waiting to do anything. Mr. Harrington, well done, well done!! What a blessing you are!
This is my first read by this author and I must say I was not disappointed. It was great seeing all the men grow and mature in their relationships, except Ant. What he did was noble, I was glad him and Carly got their asses beat especially Carly. I'm saying too much I don't want to give it away. Great work Mr. Karrington!!!
Video's to Mr. Karrington on a job well done. While reading this one I grew a love hate relationship with the characters. I was dying for Janelle to catch Ant and her sister screwing and beat them down but she was more vicious than I could've ever imagined. The ending was so sweet. Each one of the men turned out to be great. Loved it.
Mr. Karrington is an amazing storyteller. Like his others, this book's theme is centered around a group of close knit friends. Each of them have their own set of challenges they struggle with on the road to becoming men. This book has just the right amount of hood, romance and drama to keep you entertained. Great job again Mr. Karrington.
I was pleasantly surprised that a lot of the characters I thought deserved a middle finger and a smile in the beginning, evolved into people I could like, and dare I say, respect in some cases. Danger still lurks in the background for bad decisions however, and that topped off the good vibes of the various plots with a bang. I enjoyed this.
This is was one hell of a ride.!These 4 friends were so different but still the same if you know what I mean. Nobody is perfect 👍🏽 we all are flawed and have a past . You have to play the hand that you were dealt. But out of all the friends Ant was OUT COLD and so was Carly🤢
This book was definitely a paged turner from the very first page until the last. Blake definitely does it again I always look forward to his new release and this book was definitely worth the wait. These men in this book was awesome. Definitely worth the five stars ⭐️
