Jakia thinks her young-girl love and innocence can turn set-up thug Spencer "Spade" Johnson into the man of her dreams. But the fairytale she lives in her mind is soon knocked straight once he introduces her to the power of his fist. He abuses her, disrespects her, and manipulates her into believing she's not worth anything more than the hell he's created for her within their home.
Spade and his comrade-cousin, Rocko, use Jakia in a dangerous mission, and now one man is dead and the Detroit police are searching for clues. How will her love change now that she has a tainted and ice-cold heart? Jakia goes on a rollercoaster ride of emotions in this dramatic tale of undeserved love and loyalty that sends a strong message: no woman should love a man more than she loves herself.
I enjoyed this book. The character Jakia was living a life of hell after her brother Juan got locked up. She had no choice but to partner up with the snake, Spade. The life he had her living was straight crazy! The storyline held my attention the whole time and I'm looking forward to reading another book by this author.
I did not like this book. I wanted to like it but the style of writing wasn't one I could relate with. I kept reading because I felt like I needed to know what happened only to be very disappointed in the ending. This book may be for some but it wasnt for me.
I definitely recommend this book. At same points i had 2 put it dwn cause da abusive was too much. I felt 4 Juan bing in prison n he cudnt protect his lil sister.
