Dealing with the aftermath of her husband’s affair has not been easy for Sylvia Blackwell. When she vowed to stay by his side for better or for worse, she never imagined that would mean becoming a parent to Jordan, his troubled teenaged love child. Now Sylvia is facing a new dilemma that could not only be the final straw that breaks her fragile marriage, but could also shatter her already strained relationship with her sister, Janelle.
Tricia King never suspected there was trouble in her marriage. After all, she couldn’t have asked for a better husband than Titus. He’s everything she expected in a a good provider, a great father, responsible, and supportive. She has no idea something is missing from their relationship until she finds out what he was giving someone else. Hurt and confused, she finds herself being counseled by a most unlikely ally.
Janelle was warned by her sister about the sting of karma and the futility of dating a married man, and she has come face to face with the reality of her actions. Her secret relationship with Titus is now open for everyone to see, including the new man in her life, Sherrod. Janelle is now in the center of a battle between the man she loves and the family she’s trying to hold on to.

So good! And so sad another cliffhanger without the promised 3rd book. I'm not sure if I should hold out hope for the 3rd but Midlife Crisis and Imitation of Wife were worth the read even if I don't find out what happens. Love to see flawed characters trying to be and do better yet still be super engaging.

Never started a review like this, but I am cracking up at that ending! Jilly did that. This installation wasn’t as good as the first, but it was good. There were some slow parts. I listened to the audio and the narrator was awful for this story. Yet and still this is true LaJill Hunt drama. I can’t wait to see how this turns out. What I like about LaJill is she keeps it real and adds a bit of humor. The conflict with the friendship, the love affairs, teenage drama, and Aunt Connie and Deacon is a mess for sure. I’d like to see if she could do a spin off of Payton and Tank or do Payton’s perspective in her next novel. I think they’re old enough to get a scene or two.
Tricia is a mess! This chick seriously needs to find her happy place because she gives true meaning to the phrase misery loves company. She’s oblivious to whatever going on around cares about appearances. Titus should have just supported her from afar. He could have had happiness a long time ago. That ending with him was crazy! I’m glad Sylvia was able to express her concerns to her husband. That’s a lot to deal with. It seems like there should be a part 3.
OMG, this was great continuation to the Midlife Crisis. It was good catching up to the characters in this book. This page turner will keep you on the edge of your seat. I really love Aunt Connie. Then ending to this book is a shocker. I look forward to reading more by the characters in this story.
There was so much going on in this book. I couldn’t stand Tricia, Titus’s wife. I almost understood why he had this ongoing affair with Janell. Janell was all the way wrong for carrying on an affair with a married man that would possibly never leave his marriage for her. Although his marriage was pitiful. Their marriage was so depressing and boring that I couldn’t see anyone realistically staying in that type of situation for 17-18 years. I also sort of think that Janell was in the wrong for dating Sharod, not because her took her best friend virginity away many moons ago but that fact that she KNEW that her best friend was trying to get back with him. I did like to see Sylvia and Gary working through their issues although I don’t think that I myself could forgive a random 15 year old love child, because if you can hide a whole child for 15 years, you can hide anything! That whole Gary and Sharod beef was not warranted at all! The ending proved how much Nivea valued her friendship with Janell. This story had a lot of drama and I was here for it. There has got to be another installment coming out for this series because of how it ended. At least I hope so.
This sequel was better than the first. We pick up where we left off. But now we also have Tricia (Titus's wifes) pov along with Janelle and Sylvia's. The ending left us on a cliffhanger and I find myself really wanting to know what happens next.
This book was very good but you have to read Midlife Crisis first to understand this book. The ending will make you mad once you realize the 3rd book hasn’t been released yet.
Great follow up. Loved walking through life with these characters. Gary was immature concerning Sheldon. In the end, their beef came off manufactured but I was happy they worked things out for Jordan's sake. Tricia was a mess. I know I should hate her but i walked away feeling sorry for her. She was so miserable and had been that way for so long that she didn't seem to realize there was another way to be. But yeah, despite how awful she was, to get rejected by a love interest then to have your husband admit to loving another woman has got to be devastating. I hope she finds peace. The character in most interested in is Jordan. Can't wait to see where he character goes in the next book (if there is a next book). Glad that Janelle decided to leave Titus alone. Hopefully that's a permanent break. She could be happy with Sheldon assuming he improves in the bedroom. Titus made his bed. He married Tricia. It's not Janelle's problem if he's in a loveless marriage. He chose to be there. She needs to cut that tie and move on. I how her friendship with her best friend can be repaired. Finally, I love aunt Connie. She's so wise and fun. The family needs her. Great book.
This part 2 took me on a more upset mode I was getting out my skin each time someone did something stupid. From Tricia she have lost her mind the way she was acting but I can see why to a point , her husband was off the chain and pushed her to her breaking point at times. Now don't get me wrong she asked for some of it . Garry asked another from Sylvia after her did her wrong . Please read this series yiu wont be disappointed.
I was not feeling this book as much as Midlife Crisis. Something was lacking. The switchings between the storylines of Sylvia, Janelle and Tricia didn’t match. The ending was off too. Titus called Janelle “Nellie” the entire time but after having a heart attack and being in the hospital out of it he says to Tricia “I love you Janelle”. I hope the next book helps Tricia find happiness and Janelle and Titus either finally get together or move on.

When you come away from a book, loving, understanding and hating the characters, the author has done their job. This was a great 2nd book that left me identifying with the characters and trying to guess what next. I never expected the Nivea surprise, hellI thought her significant other was going to be a girl. I look forward to the next installment.
Sylvia & Garry are finally starting to get it together. Janelle is realizing what she deserves. Aunt Connie is the best one in the story. Tricia decided to wild out finally but Titus should've never married her since there were really no feelings involved. The one thing I hated was the ending. Seemed like it was just about to get really juicy!
Really interesting premise but I didn't realize that it would be a series with each book only a part of the whole. I read the second one (Imitation of Wife) and it didn't complete the story lines. Now I have to wait for the third one. I sure hope it is just a trilogy and not a soap opera that continues on and on...
This was a great read. This is the continuation of Midlife Crisis. If you are a La Jill Hunt fan, you already know you're in for a great read. If you haven't read her books, WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR?!?!
I enjoyed the 2nd installment to the Loyalty series! The characters and their life stories are real. I can’t wait for the next installment! I recommend this series to anyone who enjoys reading fiction.
