Her husband's secret tore everything down. A ruthless killer threatens all she has left. It's up to her to make everything right.
Barbara had everything she ever wanted—a successful career, a loving husband, and a beautiful baby on the way. She even had the incredible gift to know everything about a person from hearing their name. But when Barbara’s husband somehow evades her ability and secretly clashes with a ruthless criminal, it sends her whole world crashing down. As if the resulting tragedy isn't bad enough, now a killer threatens everything she loves to reclaim a valuable cache of diamonds.

To protect her family, Barbara must use her gift and the help of an archaeologist to find the stolen gems before time runs out. If she fails to discover the treasure and finally understand her husband's covert double life, then her once happy family will never be the same.

Chasing Secrets is a compelling standalone suspense novella. If you like fast-paced action and mysteries that keep you guessing until the last page, then you'll love Alyssa Richards' edge-of-your-seat thrill-ride.

She loves living in the South with her husband and two children. She also loves good espresso, her rescue dogs, magnolias and gardenias, and, of course, reading a great book. Poor David

I know David had made mistakes but his love for Barbara was true.

Not sure how I felt about Barbara and her ex cop father keeping the diamonds especially when she said David was wrong in taking them. Pot call kettle situation. At least they found happily ever afters.

Not very often do I pick up a book and just whip right through it. But "Chasing Secrets," by phenomenal author, Alyssa Richards, pushed all the right buttons. Immediately, I was drawn into the characters and the mystery of why these events happened and how it would all turn out. The actions of each person in the book were true to life and they responded to events much the way I imagine you would in real life. That's a big plus for me, as I hate it when plots become completely far-fetched. The dialogue, along with the romance, were also very realistic. Once the action began, from the very first pages, it doesn't let up until you're whisked to the very end. I instantly wanted to continue more of this excellent story and even searched frantically to make sure I didn't miss a new release. Unfortunately, I have to wait. But now that I've read this book, I know the wait won't be in vain.

The title says it all-Chasing secrets. Barbara and her loved ones lives are in danger because of her murdered husband's (David) actions. She had an amazing gift to know people from their name but could never get a read on David. Do you really ever know the one you love? This fast paced novel grabs your attention from the first page. I wasn't able to put it down until Barbara and her new friend Griffin unraveled the web of secrets endangering their lives. The romantic undertone kept it light. I highly recommend this gem of a story .

Chasing Secrets was my first book by Alyssa Richards. I enjoyed the mystery of Barbara's gift, as well as the mystery she was left in by her late husband. The chemistry and connection was great.

Nice little piece of romantic intrigue that I’m happy to have found. Barbara has a gift, one that allows her to read people by just their name. Her husband, David, has been the only exception. While having dinner, she planned to tell him the sex of their unborn child when he asks her to think on a name, Elias. David is murdered at that dinner, she loses the baby, and is left to cope on her own. Eighteen months later, due to her deceased husband’s actions, she has to hide away from her home which leads her to Griffin, her new next door neighbor. Her read on him shows that he is a good man that looks after women. He helps her locate the diamonds that her husband stole to return to their vengeful owner after her father is kidnapped and held for ransom for the diamonds. But then, he has to leave the country for an archeological dig that has been in the works forever and asks her to go. And I am stopping there so you have something to look forward to!

This was a unique story with a bit of supernatural and a hint of murder mystery. I liked how the author revealed the plot and how the story was paced. I also enjoyed the characters. There were not really thrills in the story as the plot was a bit predictable; it was still enjoyable as a fast read. I liked the supernatural aspect of the story it added a fresh jump to the story. I could have used more, but that might be purely personal preference.

I feel like this story was a teaser into a new world that I would like to spend time in. I think that the main character has potential to become a leading lady on a series. I can totally see this story as an episode of The Ghost Whisperer on TV. The author had a great writing style that kept me engaged in the story and her development of the characters was wonderful. 3.75 stars.

Barbara & Griffin’s journey back from despair to a new future.

Thoroughly enjoyed the read. Author made the characters seem so real that I just fell into the plot until the end. Barbara’s husband was shot dead before he revealed any more of any substance leaving her to be threatened for the return of the diamonds. This. Is news to her.
She follows the limited leads as she found them and runs away to a remote area where she kills her attacker and meets Griffin who becomes her love. Further leads are followed until the big cheese recovers the diamonds from them. The twist at the end was superb. The suspense was excellent and recommend the book to you. It keeps you on your toes!!!

Alyssa Richards - Chasing Secrets
Next in line was Alyssa Richards. I don't have any record of having read books from Richards before, but I definitely will now. This book is well plotted and really well detailed. I had my suspicions throughout of how I thought this was going to end, and I was pretty close. The HEA was amazing, and that alone makes this worth the read.

*I read this one in the Love Under Fire anthology

Diamonds and a touch of paranormal

The story begins with a murder and is followed by the widow being stalked by the killer and a demand for the return of diamonds she knew nothing about. With the help of her new neighbor, and her gift of reading people, the chase the secrets that will, hopefully, lead them to the stash. The story is good, the writing tight, though the paranormal twist didn’t seem that essential to the story, but added a nice touch.

This was a cute story that had a little bit of everything. This story starts off all nice with Barbara having it all and then in a flash it's all gone. Then trying to come to grips to carrying on in her life, she begins to reveal secrets and missing diamonds that she must find to save her loved ones. Barbara meets the handsome archaeologist Griffin and with his help they ensue the mystery of the missing diamonds. This was an enjoyable fast paced read.
