Warriors of Luxiria #6

The Alien's Obsession

Rate this book
Welcome to Luxiria, where the twin suns are hot and the alien warriors are hotter…

On Earth, Lainey was the beautiful girl, from a wealthy family, that enthralled thousands of people with her gift of music…a girl who had everything. Or so it seemed…and then she was abducted by aliens. When she’s rescued from an intergalactic trafficking ring by Luxirians—huge, pierced, seven-foot tall alien warriors—Lainey lashes out and rebels when taken to their home planet. And when she hears that Luxirians have a beast inside them that comes alive for their fated mate? No, thank you—beam her up, Scotty!

Too bad she’s too nosy for her own good and stumbles into the path of an overbearing, dominant alien who demands her complete surrender.

Ambassador Kirov, the Prime Leader’s technology advisor, is a fierce warrior with an unparalleled intelligence that makes him even deadlier. Battling demons of his own, the last thing he expects is to catch a human female, with hair the color of fire and a body that makes him burn, spying on him late at night. When his animalistic Instinct awakens for her Kirov knows he will have to fight to win his little hellion, who tempts his darkest desires and challenges him at every turn.

But he’s running out of time and he’ll have to do something drastic to win her heart, her mind…and her body. Or else he loses her forever.

Features a fiery, sassy human female and a wickedly hot alien warrior with (-ahem-) equipment that does wickedly hot things. Full-length, 70,000+ word SFR novel with a HEA!

Another good story in this series!

The following ratings are out of 5:
Romance: 💚🖤💙❤️
Heat/Steam: 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Story/Plot: 📕📗📙📘📔
World building: 🌏🌍🌎🌏
Character development: 😠😚😁☺️
Narration: 🎙🎙🎙🎙🎙
Narration Type: Duet Narration

The Hero: Kirov - an ambassador of Luxiria. He is the technical advisor to the prime leader. He is not happy to have to tell Vaxa’an (the prime leader) that the Luxirian crystal is missing from the capital. It is the only crystal large enough to power a ship all the way back to Earth to return the human females that want to go back to their planet.

The heroine: Lainey - she comes from a wealthy background and was a beautiful woman and a pianist who was loved by all until she was kidnapped by alien sex traffickers and then later rescued by the Luxirians. She wants only to get back to Earth, but is suspicious of the Luxirians motives when the women are sequestered away from the majority of the Luxirians.

The Story: Kirov tells Vaxa’an that the reason the crystal was stolen was because the Luxirian males heard that the human women can awaken their fated mating instinct and they don’t want the women to return to Earth. They are also distressed the women have been kept away from the men in order to protect them from awakening the instinct in men so they have their choice to return home. Though Kirov tells Vaxa’an that if he happens to see a female that awakens his instinct, he won’t let anything come between them.

Lainey thinks something is fishy when she hears about other human females wanted to stay with their “mates” and she thinks they are being jailed and the whole mating instinct story as well as the fact the crystal has been stolen is a load of bull a is determined to prove it. When Kirov sees beautiful Lainey spying on him in a private moment his instinct awakens. he does everything he can to win her over so she stays on Luxiria with him rather than return to Earth after the crystal is found.

This book was told in dual points of view via duet narration, and was narrated by Sierra Grace and Tristan Josiah like the rest of this series. I am liking this series, though it is not all that different than many other alien romance stories. The whole thing with the plague and a race that needs females to mate with and have babies with to continue their race has been done in the majority of alien romance books. Though it is a good trope and I don’t mind reading it over and over. I also can’t resist anything done in duet narration. I love it when the female narrator doesn’t have to do male voices and vice versa.

I like that Kirov is a technology guy, and that he creates different things for Lainey like a little robotic sun shade and he makes a computer tablet for one of the other women to draw on. Though I still think it odd that in alien romance, none of the other societies, whether they are technologically advanced or not, have anything similar to television, even when they have better computers and communicators. I would think that would be something that naturally would evolve in more civilizations than just ours.

Y’all, get Bianca HOME!!

Lainey is one of the few human women left who haven’t been whisked off my a Luxirian male. Kirov is a Luxirian male with a curious mind. When Lainey watches him through his bedroom window, Kirov’s Instinct ignites, and the rest is history.

I enjoyed the push-pull of this one. It is frustrating for the main character to deny the mate bond at this point, but Lainey’s explanations made sense.

I do not understand why Kirov hid the fact that his Instinct was awakened. There was no reason for him to lie—what’s done is done. If he had been honest with his leader, another solution could’ve come about, and he wouldn’t have had to resort to kidnapping her (much like the previous book). Although I won’t lie; the dialogue did make me laugh a bit:

“You just kidnapped me without me knowing it! You’re taking me to Troxva, aren’t you?”

He exhaled an impatient breath. “You are hardly a child, so nix, I did not do this ‘kidnapping’ to you.”

“That—that’s not the point,” she returned. “Oh my God. I can’t believe you. You had me thinking you weren’t even going to say goodbye and you were planning to take me all along, weren’t you?”

Kirov would not deny it. Tev, I was always coming for you this night. You just showed up at my window first, saving me the trip.”

I’ve accepted the books in this series are going to be similar. Going in with that knowledge, I find myself enjoying the differences more. Kirov making Lainey a piano was endearing, but what really stole the show for me was him getting another character a tablet so she could draw. It was a small detail, yet it made me like him so much more.

I think I'm done with this series. this was book 6 of women who don't have a real home or family on earth moaning that they don't want to make a commitment for 150 pages.

Reading this book felt just like reading all the others.

No, just no... did the heroine compare the size of the hero’s d*ck to a baby’s arm? This author uses some weird as f*ck imagery and wording throughout the series; not often, but enough to kill my mood. As if her bitchy heroines weren’t already total buzzkills...

This is Lainey and Kirov’s story, with a strong, grumpy Ambassador, and action, which is a nice distraction from normal life for a few hours, especially if it is Zoey Draven. Her writing style is easy and inviting.

The Alien's Obsession is the sixth book in the Warriors of Luxiria series. It is a quick read with lots of steam and spice. I don't mind reading these books, alpha, aliens, human, fated mates, insta love tropes, because they are sci-fi, and anything goes.

Re-reading this series again because apparently I didn't leave a review the first time.

I loved this one!! Each book just gets better and better and the emotional angst also keeps increasing which i love!! Zoey Draven was added to my list of 'favorite authors' after reading her Horde King series but she has now been pushed to the top, i just love her books... they're steamy, sweet, emotional and unique and just plain old fun! They're probably considered more sci-fi than paranormal but i'm just roping them in with paranormal romance until i have the time to weed out all the sci-fi books i've read and create their own category/folder.

I love that he’s a tech guy and can build her stuff. As a fellow redhead, I would’ve fallen in love after the sun hat thing lmfao. And then he builds her a mf piano !!!!
for the last like 3 books I can stop thinking about how Bianca is gonna go insane if they don’t get that girl home💀

3.75 ⭐

While this one did feel A bit slower at times, I ended up really enjoying Lainey and Kirov's story.

This is probably the first book where our couple dealt with real issues regarding trust and the uncertainty of their relationship. I actually really liked how there was mistrust and trauma to work through on both sides (rather than 100% certainty on the males side, leaving him to convince the FMC of their bond.) This one was definitely a bit more angsty than the previous books but I loved it.

Ooh and the little hints about what's going on outside of the Luxirian settlements is getting good. (Still can't wait to read about Vaxa's brother)

Amazing .....

I think that this book is my favorite. Although, to be honest, every book of this series is my favorite until the next 1 :+))
In this 6th book , we find Lainey , the , "say it like I mean it " , girl who doesn't like anything !! She certainly has her issues !!
And Ambassador Kirov , who doesn't want to have a Luxiria, but can't help himself . So he Tries to stay away from Lainey, he really does. But what do you do when your INSTINCT wakes with an insatiable Need ??? Well that's what happens here !!
Their journey to find happiness and fulfillment was an incredible experience, one that I will not soon forget !!!
Thank you Zoey Craven for another amazing story !!!

You have to love when the unlikeable character has the BEST book of the series! Lainey was only briefly around in the last book, but she managed to annoy me almost immediately. I wasn’t looking forward to her book, but damn, Zoey worked wonders here.

Lainey and Kirov feel the most fleshed out as characters and as a couple (this book’s also longer, and it’s all the better for it). I love that we get more backstory with both of them and their flaws are fully explored as well as their attraction. I’m a little devastated to let this couple go and expect this one to be a book I revisit often!

I enjoyed this one, though I did feel both the characters were underdeveloped… but I think that’s kind of a theme throughout this series, since the books are pretty short and we’re counting on tropes like fated mates and freaky sex.

I was really looking forward to Lainey's story. I was hoping she would give her alien a run for his money, but she gave in so easily. Kind of disappointing. Hopefully there will be more fight with Crystal or Erin

This might be my fave yet.

I love how sensible both characters were. They were both flawed but knew when to change and adapt to be who their partner needed.

The character growth was brilliant. Lots of premise for the next book!

Quick(ish) Review

I’ve really come to enjoy Ms. Draven’s ‘verse even if the stories are very romance-focused and don’t delve too deeply into the worldbuilding. I liked the fact that this heroine was the prickly one, the one who pushes people away and the hero loves every bit of it. It’s perfect escapist fun for me though, so if you like very romance focused SFR you may enjoy this.

As soon as Prime Leader Vaxa’an entered the command center, Kirov, Ambassador of Luxiria and Technology Advisor, told him there had been an incident and he knew Vaxa’an would not be happy about it. A second Ambassador, Cruxan, was already waiting in the war room for him. These were the remaining two of Vaxa’an’s Ambassadors who had not yet found their fated mates. The other three, Lihvan, Rixavox, and now Vikan, had found their fated mates in the human females. Vaxa’an was informed that the large Luxirian crystal that would power a vessel to Earth was missing. The crystal was to have been used immediately upon Vaxsa’an’s return. It was the only one large enough. The seven warriors on duty denied any knowledge of its theft. The Earth women were being kept sequestered and were not happy. With the crystal missing, they could not return to Earth and something else would have to be done. They decided the best thing was to move the woman to Vikan’s old dwelling since he wouldn’t need it anytime soon. They would have more room to move around and windows. They could see Luxiria, smell the fresh air, walk on the terraces, and enjoy the suns and the moon.

Lainey didn’t trust them at all. The women discussed moving and were fearful. Vaxa’an assured them there were only two males in the vicinity of this new dwelling, and they would still have the guards they were used to. With no other males to see them, they would be safe from awakening a male’s Instinct. Lainey and Crystal decided to accept the new accommodations. Bianca refused to move, so Erin stayed with her. The new dwelling was beautiful and spacious.

Lainey hid in the shadows as a hovercraft landed a few dwellings away and an intriguing man jumped down. She couldn’t take her eyes off of him and his wonderful muscular form. She almost fell but caught herself against the wall, but she looked up and it seemed he was looking right at her! She tried to see the color of his eyes but couldn’t. Then he turned and went inside. She looked in the windows and moved to the bedroom windows where she saw him undress. She watched him as he stretched out naked on his bed. She stepped closer and he caught her movement – and she saw his eyes were blue. But for Kirov, the moment shut down his brain as his Instinct, for the first and only time of his lifespan, Awakened to his luxiva! He had found her! Their lives would be changed forever.

I love this series of books. The Luxirian people are so fascinating and the world-building this author does is amazing. It makes the reader want to be there, sharing their beautiful world. Will Lainey be willing to become the fated mate of this alien Ambassador? She’s hard-headed, stubborn, and has her secrets. But if she allows him to love her, she may finally find the peace she has been searching for. Don’t miss this wonderful story! It will pull you right in and you’ll enjoy every moment!

I honestly don't know if I should even rate this 3 stars.
I haven't read the other books, but I could not believe how bored I was through this. Fell asleep 4 times. It dragged on and on. I couldn't wait for it to end.
I get how this could be a good series, but this was just NOT for me.
We have our mc-h who has two different names through the book. While this sounds stupid, I HATED having to to back and forth with the pronunciation of her name. I know, it's a silly thing to get irritated about, but it was my think, mkay? So back to mc-h. I don't know if anyone else felt this way, but I felt like she had so many personalities that I didn't know which one we were going to end up with.
I wasn't a fan of the manipulation she pulled through on mc-H. That bothered me as well. Slight spoiler.....

She wants to have sex with him but he refrains because he doesn't know if she's going to stick around. And he's actually being a responsible adult and doesn't want to knock her up if she's just going to bail.

I overall did not like her character.

Mc-H, he was okay. He did have a stronger lead in this book and felt more levelheaded in most of the parts. I did like his honesty throughout the book and I actually did "feel" for him about his father. That was quite sad. Honestly, the book got better once they left the Golden City. I really liked that he was so smart and devoted. If we had him and a different mc-h along with a slight adjustment to the storyline, I think this could have been much better.

Overall. Couldn't stand the h, liked the H more, story was dragged out, some unnecessary drama and some questionable scenes of *what is this purpose*. Not my thing, won't read this again, and don't understand the higher rating.

Told in 3rd person.
Fated mates trope; insta attraction
Mild angst
Neither hero(Kirov) nor heroine(Lainey) are virgins
Steamy sex scenes🌶 fellatio, oral sex, multiple orgasms, dirty talk, one detailed intercourse scene(last chapter lol), high sexual tension!

No cheating. No other woman/man.
Possessive and doting alien men ❤️
Heroine grew up in a broken family; dad cheated on mom consistently and mom took her anger out on her.

I enjoy seeing how Lainey opened up to Kirov! Their interaction and how she realizes she’s slowing falling in love!

I mean c’mon! What is there not to love about these sexy, possessive and doting aliens? 😍😩

I like how Lainey tries to be better for Kirov, as a person and as a mate. She also learns to love herself. 😊

Would I re-read? It’s good, but once is enough!

I do recommend!
