Former Air Force pilot Tara Nightwalker survived wartime flying only to come home to a civilian life that was anything but safe. Two years after surviving a brutal kidnapping, it’s time to get on with her life. She finds a job in Idaho as a park ranger and wildland firefighting instructor. After what she’s been through, men aren’t appealing at all. Not until she meets SSI operative Price Teague. He’s strong. Honorable. A warrior. And she knows in her gut … he’s the one.
The only problem is—he doesn't seem interested.
He's a patient warrior.
Price Teague envies his fellow SSI operatives who’ve found women to love, because he sure hasn’t been as lucky. Not until the tough, beautiful firefighting instructor comes into his life. The day that some bastard in the woods shoots at them, Tara is cool, calm, and courageous in the face of danger. He recognizes instantly this is the woman he wants.
He’s usually a direct-action sort of guy, but he can see Tara is wary about men. Maybe she’s been hurt in the past. He’ll take it slow ... even if it kills him. But when her kidnapper escapes prison, bent on revenge, Price throws out the slow-and-steady approach. Time is not on his side, and there's no way he'll let anyone hurt her.
Danger is all around. Then fire season kicks into gear.
Monette Michaels is a multi-published author of romantic suspense, paranormal, and scifi romance novels. She also writes sexier paranormal and romantic suspense novels under the pen name, Rae Morgan.
She is a native Hoosier and still lives in Central Indiana with her husband, son, and cat. The cat is the boss.
Firestorm, the sixth story in Monette Michaels brilliant Security Specialists International series was a pleasurable and engaging read. That although slow to start did soon pick up. Thanks to plenty of action and some great moments of suspense. As well as a nicely woven romance between kick-ass heroine Tara and one of my favourite characters Price. And with plenty of appearances from the rest of the SSI team, particularly Keely Ren, Tweeter, DJ, Trey and Fee; I was easily entertained, and I would happily recommend it to others.

This is the first book in the series I have read and Monette has done an excellent job making the book a stand alone. I will certainly be going back and reading the other books in the series. Price and Tara are wonderful characters both as alpha as hell but they certainly know how to balance it. I love that Monette is tackling the topic of missing Native American and the sex trafficking epidemic. Native American women are going missing and are being murdered with little no press coverage. The book is fast moving and exciting. And I'm looking forward to seeing who the next book will be about.

The 6th book in this series. I have not read the others but was able to understand what was happening as each book is a different Main person. This one was about Price and Tara she was a air Force pilot and is now a park ranger. Her past comes knocking amid the stress of fires in the mountains. It was a fast paced story with great characters the only thing I found a little off putting for me was too much cussing other than that a great read. Will go back and read the rest of the series.
Firestorm is the sixth title in the Security Specialist International series and much like the previous books it’s jam packed with action, intrigue and suspense. Price and Tara’s story is a fast paced and engaging read. Tara is a capable, strong, intelligent and independent heroine. She’s a former air force pilot, turned park ranger who has faced her fair share of trauma, but is incredibly resilient. Price an over the top alpha, much like the other hero’s in this series, he’s protective but not overbearing, and kind, caring, and compassionate. I thoroughly enjoyed this addition to the SSI series, and enjoyed seeing a female heroine who is a strong survivor. Tara can more than hold her own with the other operatives of SSI. For those familiar with the series several past characters make regular appearances within this storyline, and I look forward to seeing more of the SSI team in future novels.
Book 6 in this series and Price is an ex Seal SSI operative and she's a ex pilot and fire fighter . Tara fights in a man's world but Price might just be the back up she needs when trouble comes. This book is a great addition to this series.
I've been waiting a long time for the next book in the Security Specialist International series and it was worth every second! This is one of my favorite series, I love the characters and want to move to their town in Idaho or their other location in the Upper Penisula. The author does an amazing job of describing the locations and people, making you feel connected to the story. The hero, Price has evolved over the series and the heroine, Tara, is the woman to pull him across the finish line. Reading this book felt like a family reunion with explosions and bullets, never boring. Check out the entire series, you won't be disappointed!
Love the series! This one was slow and dry until the mid way point. I stopped and started it several times. A couple sloppy editing errors, names mixed up as well. Even with the errors i give it a 4 star as i love the characters.... looking forward to the next book!
I have been anxiously waiting for the story of Price and Tara. It did not disappoint! Full of the sweet, steamy alpha male goodness we love. Price was so great with Tara and her fears. Lots of secondary characters and visits from old ones. I can’t wait for the next story.
This is the 6th book in the series and Monette has done a great job. (Again) I love that the girls are strong, know their own minds and are out there doing their own thing and that their guys are strong, super protective, supportive and oh so loving. Can't wait to read the next.
Tara Nightwalker is one tough chick. She’s survived combat, fires and being kidnapped and tortured by a madman. In short, she’s the perfect woman for Price Teague and a stellar addition to the SSI family.
Wow, what a ride!! This was an exciting read I did not want to put down! I think my kindle fell on my chest/face a couple times when I stayed up too long reading. I know there are others that know what I mean! I had never read a book by Monette before but I'm sure glad I have now. I will be going back to the beginning to read the stories of the other couples who have made it through! Loved this!!
This book is pure Alpha Men and the kick A$$ women by their sides. Action from the start the adrenalin is pumping hard from either the danger or the way Price looks at Tara 😉 Definitely a group I must go back and revisit to see how some of the couples met.
Firestorm not only gives us a smoldering love story infused with tons of action and suspense it also covers wildland firefighting and the hotshots who fight the fire along with bringing awareness to the Native American women who are sold into sex slavery.
Price Teague and Tara Nightwalker are two characters that have been around in the series a while. They finally stop dancing around each other and admit their feelings but unfortunately someone wants Tara dead and psychopath from her past is also hot on her trail.
I love this series and love that the author always has plenty of scenes where the women are kicking ass on their own away from their super alpha men..
Even though I am still waiting for all the Walsh brothers stories I hope that the author gives us books for the Nightwalker brothers who are all ex military Hotshots.
I just love this series. Men are men and women are strong and feminine at the same time. Each of her heroines has faced a uniquely female horror or tragedy and have come through to the other side but these events have left them in limbo where relationships and men are concerned. There is plenty of romance, suspense, and hilarity as well in each book in the series. I highly recommend beginning with Eye of the Storm Book 1 then binge straight through to this book. This is not the end of the series. She is already working on the next novella and has Book 7 planned.
This is right up there with book 1. Tara had been in the military and then became a park ranger and smokejumper. Then she caught the attention of Miller a serial rapist, killer and sex trafficker. She escaped and he was caught. Now she keeps being attacked and Price steps up to protect her. Miller escapes jail and SSI works to find out who is after her and if it’s him. All of this is occurring during fire season so there is extra danger. This has a good relationship, dealing with PTSD and lots of action.
I kept buying books in this series, because I really loved the first one. It’s one of my favorites. I loved the strong female character who kicked butt. It takes strength to overcome the abuse experienced by her characters, but it’s not something I want to read in every book.
Firestorm is another addition to the SSI series. It is action-packed, HOT and captivating. I love the chemistry between Price and Tara. . . combustible!!! The author did not disappoint in writing the action parts of the story. It was well written and kept me enthralled. I cannot wait for the next book in this series.
The premise was interesting and it developed quickly as did the relationship between the 2 main characters. I did not read other books ion the series but from just what I read in this book there's seems to be a theme of sexual assault. The climax seems a bit farfetched.
Firestorm is packed full of action, great characters, and adventure with a storyline that will drew you in and take you into Price and Tara's world. Tara is a park ranger now, but her past comes back to haunt her but having Price by her side will be her saving grace.
Yet another great book in this series. Price and Tara finally get their HEA. The story is action packed and I really like the strong female characters in this series.
Finally Price and Tara’s story- there’s enough going on with Thai Tory that you can totally read as a stand-alone and not read in series order. Lots of action, drama and of course a HEA.
This whole series has been great. Enjoyed the characters and depth of her story. These will be books I will read again. They are that good. Excellent writing.
