Marfóir the greater her destiny, the greater the price!
"His touch...an aching memory, his voice...a haunting whisper, his smile like no other. He holds our daughter in his arms, and my heart soars. They’re gone...but I will find them, for not even death can separate us.”

A new type of romance, inspired by Celtic mythology, Marfóir is a riveting story of love and family. This steamy, dark adult fairy-tale is the second book in a series of dark romance stories—Fae Tales. Although it's a standalone novel, some background may be helpful before reading: After many centuries of being trapped in the twilit, murky world called the Gloom, the Fomoire, a race of magical people, stage an uprising against their oppressors the Tuatha— and humans are caught in between launching our world into an apocalypse. Filled with dazzling otherworldly settings, wild magic and plenty of vivid action, this book begins with the capture of the Tuatha Fae Queen, who’s been imprisoned by the brutal Fomoire. She’s been separated from her family for weeks, tormented by her captors and waiting for a chance to escape. When the moment finally arrives, she doesn’t hesitate...only one thought spurring her on—get home to her family! But the raging war around her has changed everything. She’s in enemy territory, untrained to fight and unused to hardship... it will take everything she’s got to make it back home...but the dark forces pursuing her have no intention of letting her go.

Like many of Marishka Grayson's stories, this book is steeped in myth, and the author is not shy to occasionally use language other than English to provide a more immersive experience. It's in the first person, present tense told in classical prose and descriptive narration. However, readers should note that it's a genre fusion of several different influences including, erotica, paranormal romance and traditional fairy tales. In this story, it's not unusual to find high tech gadgets and witches in the same paragraph.

A bonnie maiden, a dastardly villain, fairy princes and some very mischievous witches...ready to fill your world with magic?

I write books that I've always wanted to read. They're complex, filled with symbolism and bizarre characters, but in the end, they're entertaining, and very brazenly so...

My stories are dark, steamy fantasy infused with elements of fairy tales, historical fiction, science fiction and classical gothic literature. It’s unusual, but I think once you get a taste for it, you’ll enjoy the wildness of exploring something different with me.

Honestly, one of the most talented authors I've ever read! Marfoir was an incredible second read in the Fae series from Marishka Grayson. Aine, a beloved High Queen journeys through this story of heart break, hope and love. She finds strength in places she never knew existed, friends and enemies too! The relationships she builds throughout her journey are real and deep and you feel that as a reader. Marishka Graysons writing is so captivating and brings such a human element to it, that you can't help but become attached to the characters she creates. You want for them, need for them, and even long after the book is over you're thinking about them. I loved how there was a small appearance of the Fianna from the first book in this story. I would love to read more of them! I loved that group! Cian was probably one of my favourite characters in this book, and I would love to read more about him too. I highly recommend this book, if you're into stormy, dark, sometimes twisted fantasy, but entangled throughout is hope and faith and courage and strength and ultimately love, then this is a read for you. Anything from Marishka Grayson will keep you on your toes, engaged and left wanting more.

I've enjoyed the author's series, and this one is probably my favorite so far. It's closest to the high fantasy which I typically prefer. But as with all the books in this series, it takes fantasy to new borders. Fae (Tolkien-style elves) battling with guns and modern weapons is refreshing and surprisingly entertaining. Purists and fantasy readers may shudder at the thought of colliding worlds, but it's been done before especially in other media – like Japanese animation. This book is graphic and definitely intended for a +18 demographic. If you're like me and haven't read a lot of romance, some of the scenes may be a little raw and detailed. The violence may not be for everyone either, but I enjoyed the read quite a bit.

The second book takes place after Faolan and Morfran are on the beach in Ireland. Who will rule in the different realms of the Beautiful Plain, the Mirror realm, the Gloom and Otherworld. There are a different set of characters but it still relates to the war between the Fomoire and Tuatha. Aine, the main character is running for her life way from soldiers away from the battle and the Cu. The Mic Ri are back as is Niam. There is galdr, geis and glimmer. And plenty of nasty black fire. Battles, betrayals, twin brothers and the baobh. Oh yes and don't forget Steam. Fast paced and very exciting to read.

Thank you for the ARC read, I voluntarily give this book an honest review.
The battle still ranges. The high king is dead along with her daughter. Áine believes she can save them but first she has to get around her brother in law/ex lover. The travel she does takes is a long dangers road of pain. Visions of her husband plague her, only they are not of his husband as she thinks. Having to choose between the man she loved and the man she falling for how will it turn out? This book was a excellent job of the mythological story of characters of fae. The story was a thrilling read of adventure. A emotional story in all its characters pain and joy.

This is book 2 in the fae-tales stand alone series. Compared to book 4, it’s more fantasy, paranormal romance while 4 is more Greek tragedy. Why compare those two books, you ask? Because those are the only two I’ve read so far in the series….🤷🏼‍♀️
I’m so impressed with the story-‘taling’ I’m on to book 1! 😁.

I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
