Live by the golden rule: treat your employees and others as you would like to be treated., Mary Kay Ash, People Management

Absolutely love Mary Kay Ash's philosophy in respect to the business environment. Somehow, businesses have forgotten that people have feelings and are not just a number to be disposed of. One of my favourite statements that Mary Kay Ash says is, "P & L does not mean for me Profit and Loss, but People and Love."

Her philosophy should be heeded by every manager or owner of a business.

Another book to help one to align their thinking to the thinking of a billionaire.

"I believe that failing to hear what your people are saying indicates gross negligence in a manager. Fortunately, once you are aware of the importance of listening, it's not a difficult art to practice. Your people will let you know what's happening-if they know they can count on you to listen. ~ Mary Kay Ash, Mary Kay on People Management, Page 36.

I wish every company operated by the Golden Rule Management that Mary Kay Ash outlines in this book. The Golden Rule is taken from the Bible: "Do unto others as you would have others do unto you." (Matthew 7:12)

The following are some things I am taking away from this book:

* Involve people in changes. Mary Kay says, "People will support that which they help to create."

* Be a good listener. Mary Kay says, "God gave us two ears and only one mouth, so we should listen twice as much as we speak."

* Handle criticism wisely: Mary Kay says, "Sandwich every bit of criticism between two heavy lawyers of praise."

* If you want others to succeed, then help others succeed. Mary Kay says, "Help other people get what they want-and you'll get what you want."

Throughout this book, I got the feeling that Mary Kay Ash experienced many injustices when working for corporate companies during her lifetime; however, she learned what to do and what not to do and brought the pearls of wisdom she learned to build her own company.

Book to align one's thinking to the thinking of a Billionaire!

It sounds good in theory, but in my experience with the higher ups, I question how much of it was actually used in practice.
