Sapphire Bay #4

Before Today

Rate this book
Two years ago, Brooke Johnson left her past behind her and moved to Sapphire Bay. The quaint Montana town has everything she needs, including a store she's turned into a candy shop. Her life is as sweet as the fudge she makes, until Levi Montgomery rides into town.

Levi has spent too many years fighting a war that no one can win. He needs to rebuild his life, find some kind of peace in the aftermath of hell. When he arrives in Sapphire Bay, the last person he expects to see is Brooke. The tough, no nonsense nurse knows all his secrets, except the one that took him away from her.

As the sparks ignite between them, Levi's past comes back to haunt him. This time, he needs to trust Brooke before it's too late for either of them.

'Before Today' is the fourth book in the Sapphire Bay series and can easily be read as a standalone. Each of Leeanna's series are linked so you can find out what happens to your favorite characters in other books.

Leanna Morgan never lets me down! She always puts out a good clean wholesome contemporary romance story that most people can relate too! This story follow Nate and Brooke in rekindling their romance as Nate’s visiting but is their love enough too make him want to stay???

Sweet Story, but Author completely missed the mark on this Sapphire Bay Series. I read the 2nd book first then the 3 and this is the last one I am reading. I struggled with the first two books I read I couldn't feel the connection or chemistry the MC had. After careful though after reading Sam & Calebs and Megan & William's story I realized there is no passion or desire in either story, I have read stories with out any sex scenes, but it was always alluded to. Even just mentioned that they had it. But The characters in both those stories felt like they had a reason for meeting and just said hey here is a person, they are good looking and are of the right sex, why not???

This one is better, but not by much. At least there was a history of feeling and when the feelings continued or was still there, you felt it. Somewhat.

Overall a boring read. (I'm so sorry) It felt like the author focused on the wrong things. Why not focus on the dates the MC's had instead of a Seating chart meeting for Megan's wedding? And I am sorry, one major issue I have is when Megan forces Brooke into the bouquet toss, hello if someone took a motorcycle ride just to avoid it continue on and let the person miss it.

This is the fourth book in the Sapphire Bay series and I really enjoyed it! Even though this can be read as a standalone I really do recommend reading the other books in the series due to the character development. This was Brooke and Levi’s story.

We met Brooke in the previous books so it was really nice to get to know her background and how she got to Sapphire Bay. She now has her candy store open and is doing everything she can to build her business. She loves this town and the fresh start it gave her. So when Levi came into her store, her past came running back at her. He was the last person she expected to ever see again.

Levi was drawn in by the smell of chocolate, so when he saw the beautiful woman behind the counter he could not believe it. Brooke was the last person he expected to see. He was passing through Sapphire Bay and only planning on staying for a short time. Little did he know that Brooke would really need him again.

This was a nice, sweet story with a heartwarming storyline. Not many surprises at all, but the overall story, characters and relationships were great. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Second Chance to Make It Right

Levi and Brooke had been in love. When he asked Brooke to marry him, she said no and left for Phoenix. He was heartbroken. Years later he is staying at his friend, Zach's house and doing some maintenance work there. While walking Main Street one day, the wonderful smell of fudge draws him into a candy store. Glancing at the counter he is shocked to see Brooke. Same for her. Both wonder what are the chances of running into each other in a small Montana town. When Levi heard about her leaking roof and her difficulty securing a loan, he offers to turn her attic into a dream master suite and fix her roof. Working together is easy, and their friendship is growing. He starts helping in the kitchen, she starts working with demolition and rebuilding her attic. She asks him to attend her friend's wedding with her and he agrees. They begin to date again. Both are unsure if they trust again. A fire gives Levi the opportunity to show Brooke how much he listened to her dreams, and how much he still loved her. The ending is heartwarming. This is a story of second chances, bold decisions and a love that never died. It was a great book.

Sweet clean story with only kisses. This is the first story in the series I've read and I wasn't lost. Some crossover characters and their relationships are just touched on.

Parts of the backstory were off page, and I felt I was missing something. There may be a trigger for some, suicide off page. The H suffers from PTSD, but it wasn't anything that seemed to currently bother him. I know other reviewers have mentioned about baking fudge vs cooking it, that didn't bother me.

No cheating, no cliffhanger, HEA, little on romance and clean. The MC's seemed more like casual friends. I did enjoy the community feeling of the town and the interesting secondary characters.

Story ends at the 95% on my e-reader. Rest blurb for next story in series. I wished the ending was longer and not so much for the teaser in the next story because it seemed rushed.

I can't improve on the blurb, just giving you extra tidbits to decide whether to purchase. (ljb)

Sadly, I wasn't emotionally invested in the story. Given what the MCs have been through/going through, there were a lot of chances for that to happen, but it didn't. I don't understand their equation, how things looked in the past between the two of them, what went down, why they didn't do anything about it for a long time until this sudden chance, and even here how they could easily move forward. This was a miss for me :/.

Please read TWs before reading. There is mention of death by suicide (off page), PTSD, etc discussed.

Note: I read this book as a standalone.

Clean well written 2nd chance

I like the characters and she did well on the storyline. Its not an emotional rehash of why they broke up, its a meeting each other where they are now. I had issues with details as happens with my detail orientated brain. The main character keeps saying she's baking when making fudge but I've never known anyone to bake fudge they cook it so it kept bothering me. Good sweet story

I usually love Leeanna Morgan’s books but this one just didn’t click with me. Maybe too much happens “off scene” (their previous relationship, his brother’s death, her relationship issues with her parents).

Also, it needed a good editor to clean up some weirdness. . . You don’t bake fudge/candy; you make it. Some inconsistencies. The ending is very abrupt.

I Laughed and I Cried!

I laughed and I cried!
I laughed at things that happened in my life. I cried at things so close to my life. I related to things that are still painful in my life, all here in this story and I Thank You Leanna for writing such beautiful stories and choosing one of my favorite places in the world!

Becoming Stronger

Wonderful book! Leeanna Morgan writes of struggle, chance, love lost, tattered emotions, and building strength to move forward.

Brooke and Levi loved once, then life uncertainties caused them to question their strength. Find out years later how they each achieved their forever!

Marvelous author! Great read!

Enjoy 🌻

Now I have a sweet tooth

Megan and Levi fell in love but she was not ready for a commitment. She ran away and started a candy making business. He was riding around America and just happened to find her in Sapphire Bay. The rest is history. Both found their HEA

second chances

This is a lovely story about about learning to trust your instincts and grow before making a life changing decision. These two characters needed to grow but not loose their love! Great story!

Not how i imagined the story might go but enjoyed the characters and the family scenes. We have all probably experienced worrying and wanting our family to be proud of our accomplishments. Also fun to continue seeing previous characters and friends in the story.

I enjoyed reading this book from beginning to the end. Great love story in a small town. It’s so well written that I would love to visit a small town like Sapphire Bay and especially taste the fudge.

Great story

I loved the second chance theme. Good character development. Uplifting story line. Just an "aw scucks" moment. Very well done.
