Windfall: An Otter-Body Experience

Rate this book
A tourist-trap town that monetizes magic. A baker of otherworldly dinner rolls. A mysterious manor designed by eccentric otters. When their supernatural-themed TV show ended, Max and Kylie thought their lives would get less weird. They were wrong. But at least they have each other. A follow-up to the novel Windfall, this all-new novella also includes ten short stories, each filled with romance, comedy, and paranormal peculiarities.

An interesting collection of short stories that helped really cement my opinion of the two main characters. There's just so much about the world as a whole that really interests me as well.
This collection really seemed to ignore the attempt at the horror aspects that the main novel attempted, instead just leaning hard into the supernatural aspects. And of course, the erotica parts.
The final, title short story was certainly the most interesting - it was also the longest, so had the most time to really explore the core concept of the story.

This is a sequel I was very much looking forward to; it's always nice to revisit a universe that's well made and is imaginative, with nice characters and story. Without "Windfall", the stories here can still make sense, though I recommend reading the previous book. (a longer, very good read) This is more of a collection of stories, with strong adult elements, a focus on relationship themes and some worldbuilding that's interesting (anthropomorphic bat, rhino horn camera, etc.) All in all, If you enjoyed the previous book, you have to read this one.
