Award-winning Journalist and USA Today bestselling author Jeffery H. Haskell thinks he should always be himself… unless he can be Spider-Man. Then, he should be Spidey. He’s a lifelong lover of comic books and science fiction, and he owns his geek status by quoting Aliens and Star Trek at every given opportunity. When he realized he could make a living writing about his obsessions, he jumped at the chance. With the incredible support of his amazing wife and spectacular children, Jeffery lives the dream of bringing his imagination to the page and on occasion, he writes about love and marriage.
I read both books in one night I couldn't put them down! Wraith is the ultimate anti-hero. Just as Arsonal is the goody goody hero Wraith takes the dark way to do good and it's oh so good at being lethal! I can't wait until the next book comes out!
Even better than The Bride in the Kill Bill movies
Awesome. Wonderful full on action with characters that bring the whole thing to life. Great that some of her targets used their own actions as a means of their demise (her ex). Having cleaned up Detroit she now heads back to her city of birth. Time to clean up her own backyard. Watch as she pulls apart the gang piece by piece and comes to terms with 'Sara' or rather the entity that has taken on Sara's form. How the reporter comes to New Orleans and becomes Arthur to her Batman. Whilst an elite Army squad come to befriend both of them and how the protectors of the City come to know Madingley and gain her forgiveness for the death of her beloved brother. Will she be able to move to take on the head of the serpent or will the City add her to the family's mausoleum?
A really nice wrap up for the origin story for Madisun as the Wraith. Smooth continuation of her campaign against those that killed her family and nice revelations on what being the 'Wraith' really means. Nicely paced and plotted action scenes, good reveals on the motivation scenes. Really well executed main plot, with nice additional subplots for the supporting characters. Tight and cohesive, the story as a whole hangs very well together, no holes, or gaps or wandering, the story stays nicely on track from beginning to end. The violence, as a whole has been toned down, which should address concerns that it might have been a bit over the top in the first book. Readers will find a nice flow here that is realistic, without being overly execessive, or gratuitous. Overall a very nice addition to JH Haskell's growing library of stories. His writing is getting better by leaps and bounds with this second installment of 'Wraith' feeling, like he is coming very much into control of his craft. Looking forward to his new books with great eagarness and anticipation. Wonderfully accomplished and great read. I really, really enjoyed this one a lot.
I like the writer's 'voice' but he knows just enough about firearms to be irritating when he gets it wrong. The plot moves ahead at a pace similar to DBZ, a single main character going from 'normal' to single-handedly fighting an entire section of a movie by the beginning of the second book. A lot of things that could likely have done with more exposition are barely touched on if not skipped outright, and a LOT of character growth seems to happen between scenes. 'instantly' from the prospective of the reader, even if time has passed ICly. Ultimately, it's a guilty pleasure book, I wouldn't purchase the third, but I'll pick it up on Kindle unlimited at least. It's actually well written if you don't know anything about guns, or have only a passing familiarity, and/or if you like the pacing being a bit over-the-top even by traditional comic standards.
This is an excellent series, very fast-paced very enjoyable. There is a lot to be explored with Madison’s powers. Her New Ally with powers to tap into (No spoilers) was a twist that I did not see coming. If you like car chases, gun fights, and action with humor thrown in you will enjoy this series. I gave it a five because it was a very good page turner, waiting for the next book.
5 stars means its is a book that I will be rereading many time over the years.
Why did I like The Wraith: Welcome Home, I enjoy the characters, and the story has a nice flow to it. Once you start the book you don't want to put it down but, rather you want to keep reading it. The expansion of madi's friend and contacts is nice to see. You see her growth and coming to understand her powers and connection to The Wraith more.
I’m reading this and Arsenal together. I think I prefer Wraith but they are both great books. The book gets grittier here. It’s maybe not for small kids. No major cussing or sex, but this is a violent action story, make no mistake about it.
I recommend this highly to action fans. It’s short and sweet. I hope the author puts this into a multipack collection some day.
This is a continuation of the shared arsenal universe and the Wraith is a vigilante that is similar to the punisher except that she is Female with a sexy black booty. Enmity and hatred are reimbursed in full in this book. There are a lot of close calls though where she almost dies. And wow it finished explosively.
A very nice revenge/ justice/vigilanity story, better even then the first book and more fun too. The only part I didn't like is when it skipped over what happened at superhero headquarters after she was knocked out but apart from that little thing and a few silly things it was a very good book.
I really enjoyed this one. I loved learning more about Madi's powers and seeing this plot unfold was really fulfilling. I am stoked to read the next one. I really enjoy the Arsenal series but I love how Jeffery changes the tone and style of writing for Madi's character. I cannot wait to get to their shared titles.
Honestly, the only thing keeping this one from 5 stars ⭐️ is the editing. Argh. His MC gets her shot at vengeance, we learn more about her power and about her reporter friend. Solid cast development, good plot, lots of action, a few snobby weapon comments. Solid fun.
I want more wraith. She is killing it. Amelia and madi are my all time novel heroines right now. Crazy that I didn't even think of the fire lady. I was all geeked up about her killing ghost.
I like this book because it was well written. From the beginning to end I didn’t want to put it Down. I like the all the characters, the action. It was like watching a move. Can’t wait for next book3. Highly recommended to folks who enjoy reading superhero books.
Good story but definitely needs some one to edit the books better. I liked it overall, story moves nicely. I recommend this to people who like vigilante type books.
I enjoyed the first book and truly hoped it wasn't a 1 shot wonder. This was even better. Mr. Haskell is on a hot streak. I can't wait for the next episode.
