The prick left without saying a word. Took my virginity and broke my heart in one fell swoop. Now we're reunited, and stuck in a damn blizzard.
He was my best friend's older brother. The hot jock every girl wanted. But that doesn't excuse his douchebaggery.
He better keep that charming smile to himself. You know the smile. The one that makes panties melt into thin air. My mission: Make it through my bestie's wedding with my panties still intact.
I still hate him. And love him. What do they call that? Oh yeah. Insanity.
Rick and Annie dated back in high school and suddenly Rick left. Now years later, they find themselves at a wedding. There was no real explanation for why Rick left and when it was mentioned, it was nonchalantly. With Rick leaving being a main part of the story, the author downplayed it when the reason came out (there wasn't really one). Annie was heartbroken and still suffered trust issues yet she willingly accepts Rick back which makes no sense with the whole storyline. This book was lacking.
My honest review is for a special copy I voluntarily read.
This book had a little bit of everything, Drama, love, deceit which made for a really good read. This is my first book by Aubrey Wright. The storyline kept my interest and the characters were memorable.
I hate leaving bad reviews but this book wasn't very good. I hate how easy Annie fell right back into Rick's arms. I would've liked it more of she put more of a fight. I didn't finish the book
This was a fun, quick and sexy read by a new author to me. I liked the characters, even the ones I loved to hate and the story was a sweet second chance romance for two high school lovers turned enemies.
So... let's cut to the chase. Annie and Rick, high school sweethearts, are forced to meet after about a decade apart when Annie's BFF/Rick's little sister is getting married. In senior year, Rick left without a word to Annie and not only shattered her heart, but shook her faith in love and relationships in general.
This long overdue reunion brings up old feelings, both good and bad, but the sparks they have between them seem to override old resentment and hurts. They agree to have a fling and to walk away, but you know what they say about the best laid plans...
Bottom line, Rick not only has a big d*ck, he is one, only outdone by the disgusting excuse for a human being that is the groom in this story.
Everyone ends up with a happy ending after much hesitation, suspicion and soul-searching, but they may not end up with who you expected. No cliffhanger. HEAs. Has cheating.
i read Ex's Best Friend ...such a good read, funny how i had never heard of Aubrey Wright before and now in less than a month i have read 2 of her books, awesome-sauce!! she rocks!! loved this book, the cozy inn, snow, who doesn't love snow??! ...but for some reason this read jump up and over that one ...maybe because of the point or that tended to lean more happy than the other read??! Maybe because it was sort of set around Christmas ...love that time of the year. such a newbie fan!! lots of steam, chemistry, i mean why fight it, love it, right??! and holy hotness. not that were a few hurdles so to speak to jump over but all in all it was a pretty happy read. love those characters, Rick and Annie. something about being in a small car together, driving 2 a wedding .. ur sister's wedding. can you imagine??! what a laugh. and a pain too. Jess who is Rick's sister is getting married. totally drawing a blank on the man name? what a jerk. found it ... i love it when other reviews give me the info. i need Brock ...what a jerk ... funny how certain folks get together and u wonder why??! i think this would be a great movie ...or like a Hallmark movie ... but are those this steamy ... maybe another channel? must read!! ( ;
I had a lot of emotions reading this book. It was a very good story and had a great storyline. There were a few typos and errors but I was able to overlook those for most part. I don't think I've ever read a book that was completely perfect. This is the first book I've read by this author and I can't wait to see what else she has in-store in the future!
Was a really great read. I liked the characters, the description of the small town made me want to go there, the storyline was very well written but the character of Brock made me want to punch him just like everyone else Lol. You won't be disappointed. I really enjoyed it and recommend it
I couldn't hate this book any less - it was simply MEH.
I tried. I made every attempt to throw myself into this book, appreciate the story unfolding; however, it never stopped sounding mechanical, contrived, stilted. The story never took off to flow seamlessly. Instead, the character who was the storyteller remained extremely detached, as though the writer couldn't figure out how to connect with the reader.
The book was also boring, predictable. I simply cannot recommend this one, though I believe those of us who mistakenly wasted time and $$ are owed an apology.
This was, without a doubt, among the most awful books I have ever had the misfortune to read.
This is a great second chance/best friends brother romance! Rick was Annies' first and taboo back then. She never forgave him for leaving her without a word and thought she was over him and hasn't thought too much about him since leaving Vermont. Rick is back in Vermont for his sister's wedding and is shocked to find Annie at the car rental counter...with his only way to the wedding! Seeing each other brings back memories, both good and bad, but they put that aside for sake of the wedding and head out. They get stuck in the storm and end up at a B&B for the night and after some wine they do the one thing she swore would never happen! Now they have to work through their old/new feelings, their past and doubt they both have about the groom. It's a great story with characters that draw you in and keep you reading until you realize you are done!
This was a sweet story, small town and childhood memories and old high school sweethearts. Rick is on his way from New York back to a small town in New England to be at his sisters wedding. Annie is also from New York and also headed for the same wedding as Ricks sister, is her best friend. Rick and Annie dated in High School and then he just up and left the country, leaving Annie broken hearted. Now they are about to spend a week together with wedding festivities.
I enjoyed this story but felt Annie blew things way out of proportion. Although she and Rick dated just a few months, she fell in love but he got scared and ran from his feelings. I think she made way more drama over such a small thing. Being young, in high school and with your dream guy, yeah okay...but holding out all those years with such a grudge-ridiculous.
The blurb stole my attention from the get go. Second chance romances are like extra "happily ever afters" for me so Hate You Less was a tease of epic proportions.
This cute second chance/the one that ran away romance is a two for one. Two relationships for the price of one. Watch the past rekindle and the future grow bright.
*. Honestly, I bugged terribly by the typos. If this were an ARC, I wouldn't mind, I would have just shot the author a message. However, reading the wrong character names in dialogues was frustrating. I knew it was wrong and had to re-read a few to verify they were wrong. But if wrong names don't bother you, you should be all set for Hate You Less.
There's nothing quite like the broken hearts of high school lovebirds. There's was no denying the attraction between these two and something was bound to happen when you're thrown into a week long of wedding festivities. The whole situation with Brock brought them closer because of their mutual love for Jess. However, I did grate my teeth every time Annie work tell Rick (or herself) that they couldn't fool around especially right after they've had sex. I mean be an adult, own up to your actions and decisions. I mean in one scene she literally started doing that the moment her Big O subsided and Big Rick was hanging out from flopping out.
I wouldn’t say hate as much as I would say animosity. Rick and Annie dated in high school. Everything was great until he left without a trace. Ten years later they’re reunited as his little sister wedding and the sparks are still there. Passion and heat combine with a little bit of snooping to do on a groom who seems to be shady leaves Rick and Annie’s spending a lot of time together. Questions are raised, the past recalled and the present spent tangled up together. Is it just a week long fling or the start of something bigger. An ok read. I would have liked to see more connection between the characters.
ONE INTRIGUING TALE!!! This is truly an awesome read. It'll capture your attention from the first chapter. Scenes so real you'll feel as if your part of the story. You'll root for the level headed down to earth girl, who's inquisitive nature might just be her downfall. Twists and turns keep you glued to the pages. And the ending? Never saw that coming. Great job , thanks for sharing this little gem with us. Aubrey did an amazing job bringing this read to life. Fantastic job Aubrey, thanks for sharing this little guy with us.
Rick and Annie dated briefly in high school. Rick graduated a semester early and left without letting Annie know. She was angry and hurt. Fast forward to years later when the connect to head to a wedding. Annie wants answers(kinda). Rick doesn't really have a good answer. I get that he left but not to tell your girlfriend? The story was okay. I was expecting more because of the title and blurb. Annie started off strong she was a decent character. Rick was just hard to like. He had some sweet moments. not a bad book just less than I thought it would be.
✨5 Stars✨-Amazing (couldn't put the book down-dangerous addiction),
Dual POV; Standalone; No cliffhanger; 17+readers;
LOVED IT!! Had a little of suspense, heartbreak, love and the beautiful holiday season in Vermont. What great scenery. Me, never have been there myself, I could envision it exactly as if I were there. Both hero and heroine were a little hesitant and clueless throughout the book which was different from one knowing how they feel and the other not knowing. Great chemistry. Amazing scenes.
This book was... different. I liked it, but I didn't. It was okay overall.
There was a lot going on and sometimes I felt like the story didn't know what was going on either. The way the characters developed and the overall story varied on focus was distracting.
I finished because I was more curious about side characters than the main characters. The main plot seemed drawn out and fluffed until it was like, BAM. Everything is perfect.
I hate to give a book two stars, but it was just okay for me.
I was excited to read this book, because I read Crush and loved it. This entire book irritated me. It is the most repetitive book I have ever read, I didn't feel the chemistry, and I found Annie and Jess to be the most annoying characters I have ever come across. I getting jaded against love (I'm a cynic myself) but Annie took it to a whole other level. Punishing a man for how he acted when he was 17/18 has never been written this irritating. I hated how naive and ditzy Jess was. Just really disappointed in this book.
I'll admit it... I was hesitant to start this one. I just came off of a book hangover and wasn't feeling like jumping into something else I felt I was doomed to have a hangover from. However... this one ended up giving me just that, a hangover. I found myself thinking of Annie and Rick while I was in a meeting at work. I found myself thinking of them while I was making dinner. I found myself thinking of them while I did virtually everything. So, I sincerely recommend this book. The characters and storyline definitely grow on you. Would I read it again? Yep!
I really wanted to like this story. The plot was slow. Rick is a jerk and hard to like. Annie, she had her strong points and then she just let Rick kind of walk all over her. She wasn't consistent. His explanation for leaving her back in high school is lackluster at best. Jess, Rick's sister/Annie's best friend, is totally naïve to be the age she is. The chemistry between Annie and Rick as there. Overall, I was disappointed even though I was glad to see Rick, Annie, and Jess get their HEA in the end.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an ARC of this book...
Oh boy I don’t even know where to begin. So we’re reading about high school boyfriend/girlfriend 15 years later. So we’re talking 32/33 year olds. I seriously thought I was still reading about them in high school. So immature. I wanted to give up a billion times but the only thing that kept me reading was how Brock was going to get caught. And Jess, is anyone really that blind in real life! I really wanted to like this book and I think with some major fine tuning and overhaul it could be a really good book.
This is a great twist on a holiday romance with a second chance might be in the cards. They problem is do people really change? Rick and Annie share a past but with his sister also Annie's bf having an Christmas wedding, a whole load of trouble starts with them caught in a show storm . I loved the way Annie was strong and determined to hold out on her feelings because she was scared to allow the man she once loved to run out in her again. But Rick had grown up realising his feelings for her were still as strong. Along with the drama of the wedding, it leads into a romantic detective read.
I read the box set which included: Hate You Less, Mr. Fake Fiance, I'll Protect You, Hate Loving You, and Crush.
You can find bickering, bantering, love, steaminess, and quirky behaviors book after book after book after book! This set is the perfect heated-up version of Hallmark movies. I fell in love with the characters, wanted to punch the same people they did, and just had a happy “squeee” moment after each book. These are cute, adorable, funny, goofy, and hot for the perfect weekend read.
I received a free copy in exchange for my honest review.
Enchanting storyline... Hate You Less is a great storyline involving high school friends coming home for a Christmas wedding goes terrible wrong. Although second chances for everyone maybe an unexpected result. Aubrey Wright always writes delicious romances and this story is a perfect example and one I'm definitely recommending for your reading pleasure and enjoyment. I am volunteering to leave a review of this advanced review book.
This is a fun, flirty second chance romance. Both the storyline and characters are interesting and engaging. The storyline is well-written and has a high school romance, some drama, a heartbroken girl, the love interest that reappears in her life and tries to fix what was broken. A proper reason for the H's leaving the h in the first place is missing, but there is a HEA. I liked this book, I voluntarily read an ARC and this is my honest review.
I loved this second-chance romance!!! There is so much packed into this one book! Rick and Annie were a couple in high school until Rick disappears without any word to Annie during Christmas break. Now, 10 years later, Rick's sister and Annie's best friend, Jess is getting married and they both come back home for the wedding. During a chance meeting at the airport, these two will take you on a heated, sexy and emotional journey. I loved the push-and-pull between these two.
Annie doesn’t know what to make of her feelings to Rick she hates him for what he did to her but yet she still has feelings for him Throw in some snow. And some carols and you have yourself an endearing Christmas Romance great book Aubrey!!!!! I recommend all you Romantic book nerds out there read this book!!! If you love a good Christmas romance you will love it!!!!!
