The Infinity Stones have become fused to people thanks to Adam Warlock in the latest Infinity Wars book. One of them peeps is a Texas death row inmate who now finds himself pursued by the galaxy’s most dangerous power-hungry loonies (not Thanos for once)! It’s down to the unlikely pair of the freshly-resurrected Wolverine and the newly un-Sorcerer-Supremed Loki to protect poor Hector in Wolverine: Infinity Watch.

Though Infinity Wars was pants, this book set in its aftermath surprisingly wasn’t bad. It reminded me of Gerry Duggan’s excellent All-New Guardians series that kicked off this lengthy Infinity Stones storyline: a fun and fast-moving action chase storyline in a similar style and tone to James Gunn’s Guardians movies.

Wolverine and Loki have good chemistry together, there’s a knowingness to the script (Loki ribbing Logan that the X-Men are always fighting robots, Loki getting frustrated with the variety of Logans floating around the Marvel Universe these days) that I liked, and even the supporting cast are decent: the talking ghost dog, the Chitauri warrior Warbringer (who felt like a DBZ character) and the reappearance of Rich Ryder’s brother Robbie and his Fraternity of Raptors.

Hector is a bit of a dull character to centre the story around, Andy MacDonald’s art is a little rough and might not appeal to everyone, and his design for Hector with the Time Stone is very derivative of DC’s Green Lantern Corps uniform. The story isn’t that remarkable or meaningful either - it feels very much like the disposable side story that it is.

Still, Wolverine: Infinity Watch is a fun little romp that fans of Duggan’s All-New Guardians series might find enough in it to enjoy - I did!

Spinning out of Duggan's Infinity Wars, the Infinity Gems have been given souls and now reside in people. Wolverine, Loki and Dr. Strange's ghost dog, Bats team up to help the new wielder of the time gem. Wolverine, Loki and Bats all have great chemistry. That's probably the best part of this quick series. It is a bit weird to see Wolvie and Loki in space though. Andy MacDonald's art is a bit scratchy for me. It's fine, but nothing special.

SUPER FAST REVIEW:
So... this book. Yeah definitely mixed thoughts about it.
It is exciting, has some good humor and the ghost doggo is awesome!
The story is kinda cheesy... not bad but cheesy. It’s also a bit confusing (in all fairness I didn’t read whatever 800 things this might tie-in to... Marvel these days, man) and I didn’t care for the ending.
Overall not bad but don’t expect anything great. If nothing else you can see a cool ghost pupper go to space.

3/5

Duggan, Duggan, Duggan... I really struggle to like anything he writes. And a Wolverine, Loki, Infinity Stones and space story is way down on the list of books I want to read! 5 out of 12.

Wow, this was a waste of time. The premise is dumb: there's somehow a ragtag group of people in charge of watching out for the infinity stones now (although unbeknownst to them). While it happened before this series, the stones now have "souls" and have been embedded into living beings. This to me sounds like jumping the shark: Anything to keep the Infinity Stones relevant and the "go to" cosmic story. Let it go, Marvel.

Wolverine and Loki try to help this poor dude that somehow has the Time stone in him. There are lots of jokes, but they are almost making fun of the book itself. They pull the reader out of the story and make you realize that this is all ridiculous. Crappy art, crappy plot. Don't bother.

Middle of the road, its not terrible nor is it great. The infinity stones are now fused to humans, which is interesting i suppose. Old wolverine the dead one is back and teaming up with Loki to try and protect the one stone they know about on earth, Hector the time stone. We get a visit from the future wolverine the one who has the phoenix power and also future Thor. I wish we got more of the future stuff but oh well its not a bad book. Art is O.k. nothing to write home about

Wolverine's been running around with the Infinity Stones, and now that problem is coming home to roost in the form of Loki, Warbringer of the Chitauri, and the Fraternity of Raptors. What's a Wolverine to do?

This mini-series feels like someone patching over the cracks in a wall and hoping that no one notices. It ties up the oddity between the Death Of Wolverine and the Infinity Stones Wolverine by explaining them away as two different characters, before revisiting some unresolved Guardians Of The Galaxy plot points and throwing Wolverine at them until they go away.

It's a fine series, I guess? Some of the dialogue is great, literally any time Loki and Bats the Ghost Dog get together is hilarious, but Wolverine himself feels like a bit player in a mini-series with his name on it. I thought we might get a proper resolution to the Talonar plot point from Duggan's Guardians, but where that looks like it might tie itself off, it instead flies back off the handle at the end instead. It's all kind of wishy-washy and unnecessary, to be honest.

The artwork is also fine. Andy MacDonald isn't one of my favourite artists, but he doesn't do anything particularly offensive in these five issues. The colouring is sometimes a little heavy, but otherwise it's just okay.

Infinity Watch is unnecessary, mostly skippable, and not really as helpful at sorting out the confusion surrounding Wolverine's resurrection as it could have been. The story's fine, the art's fine, but it definitely lacks any real meaning or point to it. A shame.

One whole star of this is purely for bringing back the Time Bat from Astonishing Spider-Man/Wolverine.

Otherwise, this is hopeless, mostly because it appears Marvel's entire thought process behind bringing back Logan was, "...*shrugs shoulders* IP?" Duggan is a great writer, but he cannot salvage this turd.

I feel I expected too much of this. Hell, it took me months to read the 6 issues. One of the stars is CLEARLY because of Bats’ appearance.

6.2 ok
It has its downs and can radeem itself at times with its ups. Though 1 is clearly more than the other there are some great story telling with in this comic. Art is solid and story is ok so overall it’s a flat 3 star comic. I was disappointed in many ways and at the start I didn’t know what to expect. This comic was just way too childish for me and is a great comic for younger teens, I however love older and more mature, dark, story lines therefore this is an annoying comic. I saw potential in this but after the first few pages I just wanted to drop this.

Okay, let me just get this out in the first place because it probably impacts this review quite a bit… I really just do not like the cosmic side of the Marvel Universe. Your Watchers, your Eternals, your Infinity stones… They all do basically nothing for me. (Even the more science fiction elements are not always my favorite, but I digress…) And so, one can imagine that this book was not exactly in my wheel house to begin with. (Why I preordered it, I really can’t say but it did go straight into the donate/sell pile when I finished it.) With that said, take that in to consideration with my rating and review because you may like it a whole lot more than I did based solely on the premise.

So a bunch of stuff happened with the Infinity Stones and they are now sort of alive and one of them picks some Earth kid to go into and give him time powers and there’s an alien after him and Wolverine and Loki team up to save him/ keep the time stone from getting into the wrong hands because Loki has *seen some $#&^* and wants to help the side of the angels. Oh yeah, and in the future old drunk Thor (makes sense) and Wolverine who has been blessed with the Phoenix powers (WT actual F?) are sitting around watching to see if some book changes so that they know that Loki fixed things. And Phoenixerine (Wolvenix?) is dying. I think that’s the basic idea. Oh, and that kind of cool, kind of stupid 90s hero Shadowhawk is now somehow an army of Shadowhawk robots? (Sometimes only reading the x-men related books makes the rest of the marvel universe seem really weird. I’m sure that the opposite is quite true – especially with whatever the heck is happening in the x-books right now.)

You get the point. The plot is both convoluted and incredibly simple. Which could make for a hecka fun comics romp. But that isn’t what happens here. The whole story plods along at what feels like a glacial pace and then the climax/ resolution is there and over before you even know it.

The characters (at least the ones that I know) act more or less in character. (Phoenix imbued Wolverine notwithstanding. Can I just rant for a paragraph or two how it makes zero freaking sense that the Phoenix force would ever – like ever ever ever choose Wolverine? Ugh. I hate this part of the book so much but I am losing focus here.) The dialogue is well-written. There’s even a few moments of humor that are genuinely funny hidden among the jokes that kind of flaccidly fall flat on the page. The art is serviceable. And I’m not kidding when I say that if you are into the cosmic side of Marvel, you will probably see something that I did not.

This was, simply, not a story for me. Like my daughter said when she saw the cover when we went to the local book store to pick it up: “Wolverine Thanos? That’s just stupid.”

I feel like I am being too harsh on this particular series so I am just going to walk away there. To each their own – and I am sure this one will have its fans. I just cannot count myself among them.

Collects Wolverine: Infinity Watch issues #1-5

I thought that this was a new ongoing series, but when I finished reading this collection, I got the feeling that this series was over (for now). In this story Wolverine is back from the dead, and he teams up with Loki to track down the newly personified Infinity Stones. This is all happening in the wake of the 2018 Marvel Event, "Infinity Wars," and they only find one stone before the series ends. Overall, because of the external factors that I mentioned above, as well as the so-so content, I would say that this series I was very excited about ended up being a let down.

What do you get when you make one of the greatest looking covers of all time? Do you get Wolverine popping his claws while wearing the Infinity Gauntlet? NO! You get whatever passes for clickbait as it pertains to reading, or "judging a book by it's cover". There's a reason they tell you not to do that...
Sticking itself in between Return of Wolverine and Infinity Wars, then continuing after IW leading into Wolverine's run in Uncanny X-Men, you'd think that adding Loki to the equation would only make this comic better... but it falls flat.
Overall, I didn't hate this, and it was funny at times, but my hype completely killed it for me.

Remember Logan coming back to life and stuff mostly making sense so far? Well, this story arc veers hard into new territory. Even Logan is confused and he is living it. So the Infinity Stones are now people. Logan teams up with Loki to save the world like good guys do. Don't you just love tie-ins? Maybe I should read the main arc? Nah, I'll wing it.

Logan and Loki catch up to Hector who has the Time Stone. Warbringer is also hunting the stones, but he is easily tricked into leaving. The Fraternity of Raptors get Hector, so our duo get Strange's ghost dog to help find them. Most of what follows doesn't make sense. The end.

After returning back to the land of the living, Wolverine finds his return home is nothing he was expecting. Confronted by the events spiraling out of Infinity Wars, Logan finds himself presented with a mission by his future self from the end of time and must protect one of the Infinity gems that has become a living human being imbued with its cosmic power. Faced with the merciless power of the cosmic enemies the Raptors, a destroyed X-Mansion, and missing friends, Logan truly shines both as his own character and a force of nature in the Marvel universe once more.

I wasn't expecting much from this book given (1) Infinity Wars wasn't the best Marvel story and (2) the premise already felt silly. But I won't say not to some casual entertainment.

What we do get is fun romp involving a few different Wolverines, our modern, younger Loki, Bat the ghost dog and others in an adventure across the stars. Again, I said the premise was pretty crazy. It's not totally silly and it earnestly tries to tell a more detailed story of someone dealing with an Infinity Stone bonding with them. So it manages to achieve what it set out to do.

Cover looks cool right? Yeah, unrelated to the story. The story is all about Wolverine and Loki, for no reason, looking for the Time Stone. This is a missing moment from the Infinity Wars crossover that was average. This wasn't needed nor wanted. A new character (that will probably never be see again) is here and it falls so flat. Add in some Rider family drama that quickly gets forgotten and this book is a bust. The art is decent but unspectacular. Overall, a misfire.

Loki's description of Wolverine is accurate.
And apparently Wolverine can't go on an interstellar road trip without at least two cases of beer.
And aliens don't know what ghosts are... or dogs... it's hilarious. 'The intangible vertebrate is here again'.
This is such an opening for a new Infinity Watch series. *sits down and waits for Marvel to do its thing*

This wasn't bad, but seemed a little superfluous. Not sure what the point was really as far as involving Wolverine in this particular story as that seemed like a cash grab type thing. Overall though it's not bad, decent story and decent art. I just couldn't help but feel as though this was yet another tie in that probably wasn't needed.

So this was not the greatest wolverine series I’ve ever read. It seem to have been more of a Loki series than of wolverine. Loki was the main character and logan was just acting like his sidekick, trying to keep him from pulling one of his tricks. So maybe in time I’ll be able to actually enjoy this one more.

My son read it and could understand *some* of the narrative, and liked it less than even me. For my part, I couldn't follow much in this, and there was nothing of consequence. Wolverine gets a free pass as a wisecracker but had bad jokes throughout. Loki and others were perfunctory. The cover was misleading: Wolvie went into space but wasn't exactly "cosmic".

This comic sucked, it justed fucking sucked, what was even the point? Why was it called Infinity Watch? Why was it called a Wolverine book? Wolverine looked more like secondary character or a side kick in his own book and came off looking like a moron, none of this shit made any fucking sense.

This was fun, but only because Logan and Loki are hilarious together. It picks up a few threads from the end of Infinity Wars featuring Phoenix Wolverine and the Raptors, but that Time Stone guy is quite annoying.

"I'm not reading another event arc" changed to "I'm only reading part of it" as soon as I saw that the team up are my two favs. It was pretty fun but definitely didn't make me feel the need to go suffer through whatever Infinity stone nonsense spawned it.
