Wolverine's been running around with the Infinity Stones, and now that problem is coming home to roost in the form of Loki, Warbringer of the Chitauri, and the Fraternity of Raptors. What's a Wolverine to do?
This mini-series feels like someone patching over the cracks in a wall and hoping that no one notices. It ties up the oddity between the Death Of Wolverine and the Infinity Stones Wolverine by explaining them away as two different characters, before revisiting some unresolved Guardians Of The Galaxy plot points and throwing Wolverine at them until they go away.
It's a fine series, I guess? Some of the dialogue is great, literally any time Loki and Bats the Ghost Dog get together is hilarious, but Wolverine himself feels like a bit player in a mini-series with his name on it. I thought we might get a proper resolution to the Talonar plot point from Duggan's Guardians, but where that looks like it might tie itself off, it instead flies back off the handle at the end instead. It's all kind of wishy-washy and unnecessary, to be honest.
The artwork is also fine. Andy MacDonald isn't one of my favourite artists, but he doesn't do anything particularly offensive in these five issues. The colouring is sometimes a little heavy, but otherwise it's just okay.
Infinity Watch is unnecessary, mostly skippable, and not really as helpful at sorting out the confusion surrounding Wolverine's resurrection as it could have been. The story's fine, the art's fine, but it definitely lacks any real meaning or point to it. A shame.
