From award-winning, best-selling author and illustrator Mo Willems comes a bind-up of five Elephant & Piggie adventures to spark early-readers' imaginations.
The New York Times Book Review called Mo “the biggest new talent to emerge thus far in the 00's."
Mo’s work books have been translated into a myriad of languages, spawned animated shorts and theatrical musical productions, and his illustrations, wire sculpture, and carved ceramics have been exhibited in galleries and museums across the nation.
Mo began his career as a writer and animator for television, garnering 6 Emmy awards for his writing on Sesame Street, creating Nickelodeon's The Off-Beats, Cartoon Network’s Sheep in the Big City and head-writing Codename: Kids Next Door.
Shortly after finishing the first Elephant & Piggie Biggie, my son asked "Where's number 2?" My wife got him volume 2 for the lengthy car ride to his autism evaluation a few days ago. I think we've read this to him twice a day the past four days and he's gone through it himself at least that many times.
My son loves these books almost as much as he loves Dr. Seuss. This book contains I am Going, We Are in a book, I Broke My Trunk, Listen to My Trumpet, and I'm a Frog. As with the previous volume, these are cute, funny stories about friendship. We Are in a Book is a time loop, fitting since this book will probably be read until it falls apart.
Four out of five stars. My son has already asked where book three is so I imagine he'll have all of them come Christmas morning, if not sooner.
Again, don’t usually add children’s books, but this thing is 300+ pages and we read Vol. 1 and 2 (just adding Vol. 2). They’re a ton of fun for our toddlers. And the story “We Are In A Book” is so fun. They break the fourth wall. Good stuff.
We bought this collection for both my 6-year old son and 3-year old daughter. My son loved it because he could read the stories aloud himself. My daughter loved it because they are really entertaining!
‘We are in a Book’ had my son laughing out loud, as he understood the humour in it. ‘I Broke my Trunk’ is my daughter’s favourite because it is so silly. No Willems is a fantastic children’s author!
My kids (6 and 3) love “Estamos en un libro.” So this collection of elephant and piggie books is the perfect opportunity to explore more of these stories, and the English version of “We are in a book.” They laugh out loud at Gerald and Elephant. These books are good for a span of age groups. Early readers and younger kiddos alike.
We got this book for our son for Christmas and he's already breezed through it. Mo Williems writes stories that he finds funny and entertaining. And anything that gets him to read is good in my book. This book has several of Williems' stories in it.
This is requested REPEATEDLY!!! Kids simply adore the stories, memorising them and having them in hysterics. It's such a fun book to use voices and encourage children to use expression. The stories themselves are wholesome and teach emotions and how to express themselves.
Elephant and piggy are silly because Gerald yells that book will end and Gerald doesn't want it to. Another event is Gerald broke his trunk and Piggie breaks his snout. Gerald lifts a hippopotamus, rhino, another hippopotamus, and a piano and runs to tell piggie and trips and breaks his trunk.
The short stories in this book were even more funny than the first set! My 5 year old and I giggled through this whole book. I still love the fonts and text size to help make the story even better! “We Are In a Book!” was my favorite for sure!
Absolutely love it. I watch the read Aloud versions on youtube with my son. And I finally got the hard cover for all 5 volumes and they are just soo much fun and full of laughter if you read them in a character voice.
Super fun, entertaining read for the kids (though I was somewhat struck by the realization that Piggie is a girl, and still don't think I'm willing to believe it).
