Find your glow is a lovely little book. I found it well written, and really enjoyed the a-z style layout.
the practice exercises were really helpful and I think this book is perfect for anyone looking to find their path back to or towards self-love, inner peace and self acceptance.
I voluntarily read and reviewed this book, all thoughts and opinions are my own.
Everything happens for a reason. I have and will always believe that. I'm going through a lot lately. The anniversary of my mother's debilitating stroke is upon us and this summer hasn't been kind to me either. I'm going to be honest but reading this book made me sob. I felt as though it was written for me.
The graphics first of all are amazing and gorgeous. I am a lover of all things pastel and yes, this is very much my jam.
Secondly, the chapters hit home in a simplistic "you are going to be fine, this is temporary" kind of pain. Each chapter unfolds from an A-Z format and they're amazing. For example J is for Journaling and guides us on how we can write out our thoughts, frustrations, fears and learn to let go.
This is no shocker to anybody who reads my reviews on Goodreads and my blog but I am a huge fan of self-care books. I can honestly say this is the best one I've read and although it made me cry that release alone felt great. This book is wondrous.
Thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for my ARC. All opinions are my own.
I really enjoyed this book. Initially I was slightly skeptical about the religious or spiritual side of the book from the introduction, but I found the beautiful pages full of practical advice and activities to help improve life and nourish your glow.
I think doing all the tips at once would be a little much so I plan to work through the book again tackling a letter each week to really work on the topics, and dip in and out to the subjects that speak to me and are most relevant at the time.
The book covers a multitude of subjects and isn’t repetitive so I think I will gain a lot from what it has to say by working through the suggestions.
A good book for yourself or a gift for a friend who has been through a life change
I received a copy of this book via NetGalley in return for an honest review
Find Your Glow, Feed Your Soul is a collection of self-care tips that I've seen a hundred times over. The tips range from gratitude, forgiveness and acceptance. There are some tips on how to achieve inner peace and purpose in your life that I found lacking real-world translation. I'm a huge fan of self-help novels and always looking for ways to improve my quality of mental health and life but unfortunately, I found Find Your Glow, Feed Your Soul missing the key elements of definite ways of performing self-care.
Find your Glow, Feed Your Soul by Emily Silva is a a guide to cultivating a vibrant life of peace and purpose. The author's intention is to help the reader find their inner 'glow' and do so routinely in order for the reader to do it effortlessly. The author wants to help women, specifically, to find their bravery and to go after what they want in order to have a more fulfilled life. The author believes that as we become our best selves we become connected to each other. This book is not a quick read. You find yourself lingering over paragraphs and rereading them for their deeper meaning. Very well written and extremely thought filled. Well Done
I would like to thank Quarto Publishing, the author and NetGalley for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
Visually appealing, incisive A to Z guide on living a joyful and purposeful life. This book is written in 26 easy-to-digest chapters. Each chapter begins with a meaningful quote and the chapter title so beautifully displayed that I almost want to tear them all out and wallpaper my home with them.
This is for someone who is searching for meaning and purpose or who needs a reminder to focus on what really matters in life.
Emily Silva delivers a beautiful and eye-opening self-help book. The words are inspiring and offer great advice on how to change your outlook on life and yourself. The book is designed beautifully; I can't wait to purchase this for friends this Christmas. This book offers so many great words of advice and shares insights into daily interactions with others and ourselves and how those interactions will affect our moods — lovely read altogether.
This is a beautiful A-Z of ways to nourish and enhance your life. Enriching ways to put yourself first and help to not only make you feel healthier and happier but also to remember that you are important. It’s a good reminder of things we should do that often slip through the cracks when real life takes over.
This is a beautiful, easy to read book. The information is delivered in short chapters, making it very easy to digest. I read a couple chapters each day.
This book is full of gold or should I say, "glow." The writer does a great job of giving you "real world" tools and examples to find your inner glow while also stringing together beautiful sentences that just make you feel wonderful. Highly recommend it!
This is a really gentle book & I would love the print copy so that I can use it as a reference throughout different times of my life when I’m focusing on certain aspects of my Wellbeing.
It was easy to read with a mixture of common, well known wisdom as well as Emily’s own advice & interpretations.
This book is beautifully rendered; I loved the colors and patterns. The information is presented in an A-Z format with each section broken down into information as well as practical applications. This would be a good tool to help get your life a little more simple and a little bit more joyful. I deduct one star because it doesn't bother to state that "coaching" won't always cut it. SOme issue in your life need medical intervention, particularly mental health therapies, and some people will not be healed just by the ideas in this book. I received a copy of this book through NetGalley; all opinions are my own.
An inspirational book filled with vibrant and colorful Instagram worthy photos. The ABCs of finding work/ life balance today and planning calmness for tomorrow.
Oh my gosh. This was book is brilliantly sectioned into inspirations of A-Z. The book itself is beautiful and I can only imagine how beautiful it is in print. Each chapter is the perfect length and gives great information. It was VERY inspiration. Thank you for the opportunity to read and review this amazing book.
Find Your Glow, Feed Your Soul: A Guide for Cultivating a Vibrant Life of Peace & Purpose by Emily Silva, who is a life coach. It provides an A to Z of ways that you can tap into your inner glow, with quotes to accompany each entry.
The interior of the book, like the cover, has beautiful watercolour backgrounds, making it very pleasing aesthetically.
The author defines inner glow as "the part of you that shines even through hard times. It is when your soul feels truly alive." She adds that real happiness "comes from finding inner peace and learning to be comfortable with ourselves and accept who we are, just the way we are."
Topics covered included acceptance, gratitude, forgiveness, and letting go. While most of the suggested strategies were mental, some were behavioural, like nourishment and physical exercise, journaling, and restoring sleep.
This could be a lovely bedside table book... But.
The book had a steady law of attraction undercurrent running through it. I'm not talking just the idea that if you put positivity out there into the world you're likely to get it back in return; I mean the really pseudoscience stuff like thoughts vibrating and anthropomorphizing the universe. For me it really tipped into the ridiculous with this:
"Most of what we eat is or once was living, and because of this, food carries its own vibrational frequency. When we eat at a higher vibrational frequency, we raise our vibration... Even meat that is raised well and sustainably carries with it a higher vibration than meat that is overly produced, full of antibiotics and hormones, because of the conditions in which they were raised."
No. Just no. I say get thee to a science class, then we'll talk.
However, I recognize that many people are pro-law of attraction. For that group of people, this would probably be a good book overall, and for science geeky types like me if nothing else it's still quite lovely aesthetically.
First, I have to say that this is one of the most visually beautiful self-help books I've ever seen. Inside, each topic is given a brilliant abstract pattern of color. They are at turns soothing and energizing. The self-help topics are arranged in ABC order. Each topic starts with a motivational quote from someone famous, from Rumi to Oprah. Then, the author writes a short essay of her take on the topic, sometimes referring to her personal life. Finally, she gives specific ways to apply the topic to your life, whether that's deep questions or an activity. She offers gentle wisdom and insights. You can tell that she has a deep understanding of herself and the human spirit. You might be wondering what glow is. She defines it as what shines through, in good times or bad, when we truly feel alive. This is a book to be dipped into and savored. Many topics will be familiar if you have read any self-help books, like Meditation, Daily Gratitude, and Journaling. But the author offers her own ideas on these well-worn topics, which allows you to see and appreciate them from a slightly different perspective. Other topics may not be so typically seen in self-help circles like Acceptance, Stillness and the Art of Solitude, and Yielding to the Universe. If you're like me, different topics will appeal at different times. I know I will be dipping back into this book regularly to gain better understanding and incorporate her ideas into what I do.
I received a free copy of this book, but that did not affect my review.
Opening the package and looking at the beautiful cover of this book will give you an instant glow. Emily writes from the soul and her words of reassuring comfort will speak directly to yours. Not only are her words beautiful but the practical exercises really are a guide to find your glow. This book is a perfect read for someone who needs a bit of light in their own personal darkness or a gift for someone who is going through a challenging time and needs the reminder / practical tools to release their glow. As the author writes "When we know how to access our inner light and are connected to it, we glow from the inside out".
Find Your Glow, Feed Your Soul is great little book to help people find their inner glow. It's organized in an A-Z style starting with acceptance. There are practices or excercises at the end of each chapter to help you embody the lesson and further you on your path towards a life of abundance and serenity. I consider this a self-help book for individuals who are feeling lost or overwhelmed and need to find their path towards self-love and a more fulfilling life. It is a tad repetitive, but it was done on purpose to really drive home some very important life lessons. If you're feeling stuck in a rut this might just be the books ou need to help you find a path forwards.
I’m sad I finished this book and will be looking out for anything else this author writes. Give yourself time to read this book if you are seeking balance, peace, or self-care in your life. Even if you’re not, this author gives great insight into ways you can enhance your life and feed your purpose. It’s divided into 26 short chapters (one topic for each letter of the alphabet). It’s so simple to read on each morning and carry it through your day.
This book is a hard one to rate. At times I was entranced by it, there is such positivity and joy in there. Some really good ideas about how not to beat yourself up when things go awry and how to look after yourself but then every now and again it falls into horseshit and semi-mystical religious fervour and this really put me off.
So I would not say this is a bad read but if you are feeling vulnerable or likely to be persuaded I'd probably not.
I do not think the universe listens to us.
I think telling people to wish for things and then if they are good they will get them is not a positive thing. The idea that the universe will judge you and send what you deserve / need falls a little into the idea of victim blaming. People can be good and still suffer. Also it allows the reader to somehow think that they deserve what they have and lose empathy for those who have not.
Rather than appreciating your good fortune and not judging those around you.
As I said however there was a lot of good in here. I finished the book but grew more and more uncomfortable with the mysticism.
This book entered my life when I needed a drastic lift. In the month it took to get through it, reading one entry a day, I slowly felt my thoughts shifting to a more positive place. I enjoyed the questions at the end of each section and often wrote my responses in my journal. When you read this book, you’ll see your growth from page one to the end.
I liked this book, it gave me the boost I needed after reading it. It's a book to read and process slowly. I feel like I will use this book later on if I need encouragement.
I have to admit that I recently (in the last 2-3 years to be precise) I read a lot of books similar to this one, so I am not exactly super excited about nice colorful picture who ask me to believe in myself and yield to the Universe, but if you never read something like that maybe you may find it to your liking.
