Apples can be delicate and complementary, floral and simple or they can be bold, sharp and stand out from the crowd. Set to the backdrop of his is family's stunning apple, Apple is a celebration of this humble fruit.
A good recipe book. Being a gardener and an apple enthusiast, I enjoyed recipes for all things apple. From starters to drinks and everything in between. I want to try the pork and cider stew, and since our weather has cooled off I might make it this Friday.
I love apples, so was thrilled to see this book at my local library. However, I didn't realize this was a British cookbook. The problem with that is trying to figure out the cooking times. IE: Preheat a fan oven to 160 C/320 F/Gas 4. For one thing, what is a fan oven? Is that the same as a convection oven? And US ovens don't have a setting for 320F. Should I go down to 300 or up to 350? Other than that, I enjoyed all the recipes.
This book is full of excellent recipes and it's a definite keeper. I recommend this to any cook! This book would be a great addition to any cookbook library. Many of the recipes are written in weights, which may be a non-starter for some of you.
I really enjoyed the first part of the book with some history of the apple and the author’s family cider farm. I didn’t find many recipes after that which piqued my interest, however.
