Regent's Park Pack #6

Bitten by Fate

Rate this book
Daryl plays with fire and gets burned by fate…

Former Primrose Pack member Jason Black happily accepted his role as beta in the new Regent’s Hill pack, knowing that merging the two was the best decision for everyone involved. Daryl Easton is loyal and honest but wary of change. The joining of the two packs wasn’t his preferred outcome, and he’s struggling to see all the newcomers as pack, including those now working alongside him.

When the alpha council proposes a two-week pack-building course to help improve troubled relationships, Jason and Daryl are sent along as backup. It soon becomes clear that the unit members and their betas won’t be the only ones taking part in tasks—Daryl and Jason will have challenges of their own to complete.

With the full moon adding to the rising tension, emotions are volatile, and tempers flare among the unit members. Jason and Daryl become closer than either of them expected, but with such opposing views on relationships, a messy outcome seems inevitable unless Daryl can let go of the past.

I can't believe this awesome series has come to an end. I am such a big fan and I'm really gonna miss this great world that the author created. To say I have read and loved each and every one of the books in this series would be a small lie...since I have skipped Bitten by Her, but other than that one, I did !!

I don't think it's smart to read these books as stand alones. You should really start at the beginning and get to know this world. You will be very confused if you just jump in somewhere in the middle. So if you haven't yet...go and one click book 1, Bitten by Mistake, you won't be sorry. They just keep getting better and better.

This time it's Darryl and Jason's turn and I was very curious how this would play out, since I really didn't know Darryl all that well and Jason, he came from the other pack, Primrose Pack...

It is common knowledge around the Regent’s Hill Pack, that something needs to be done about (some of) the former Primrose Pack members. The joining of the two packs hasn't been smooth, to say the least, and there are still some members refusing to play nice. So the Alpha Council has come up with a great idea....team building...or in this case Pack building https://www.google.com/search?q=emoticons  Maybe working as a team and relying on each other will get the spirit going.

Afbeeldingsresultaat voor there is no i in team gif

Even though Jason and Daryl are not the Beta's of the members that are going on this little trip, they are sent along as back up...and to do a little team building of their own.

And boy do they... With the two of them sharing a room and the full moon nearly rising, these two hit it off big time ;)

9192068.gif (500×281)

But while Jason is a bit of a romantic at heart, and wants nothing more than someone to bond with...Daryl is just looking for a sexy hook-up. Bonds, scare the shit out of him. So maybe getting up close and very personal isn't the smartest thing to do for them.. ??

I really enjoyed this one. I loved the teambuilding and the interactions with all the other members... It was funny, sweet and hot and even a bit emotional at times. Jason and Daryl were awesome characters I think, and they were a match made in heaven.

I am gonna miss these guys but thankfully I will always have my re-reads. I have loved them all, though Bitten by Desire is still my favorite I think...I'm gonna keep my eye on this author though and hope she will come up with something new that will blow me away again.

I highly recommend this series !!

This is not a standalone story. I've read all the books in this series except the fifth one (because F/F isn't my thing) and was still a little confused initially. There are just so many characters here and so much going on besides the romance.

While I liked Jason and Daryl, I wasn't super invested in their relationship. Daryl's fears weren't unfounded, but he wasn't fair to Jason. Fortunately, he realized this eventually (the back and forth went on a little too long though), and Jason got the mate he'd always wanted.

The focus of the story is strengthening the bond between the original members of Cam's pack and those who joined, rather unwillingly, following their own evil alpha's demise.

The shifters have to do a series of exercises to build trust, but it's obvious immediately that not everyone is happy with the situation.

Why the bad seed was allowed to stick around is beyond me. There's giving people a chance and then there's being stupid. These are shifters. Couldn't they sense his malice?

This is the last book in the Regent's Park Pack series, which I've really enjoyed as a whole. This wasn't my favorite out of the five books I've read, but I do recommend this series for fans of shifters, bonding bites, and rough sex.

Bitten By Fate is the conclusion to the RPP series and a fitting one with the pack finally becoming whole again after all the upheaval of incorporating the Primrose pack.

I thoroughly enjoyed all the pack building exercises and seeing how they let old grievances go to once again become a fully integrated pack under Cam. Ms. Jacobs did a great job of involving some of the previous and beloved characters. Alec is and always will be my favorite and I loved his part in this story with his ubiquitous grumpiness. 😍

Daryl and Jason are the focus of this installment and they too are bridging the divide between the packs in a sense with Jason being a former beta of the Primrose pack and Daryl having been a trusted beta in Cam's pack for a while now.

They having seemingly been singled out by the Alpha Council to engage in a series of trust exercises which appear rather more a thinly disguised matchmaking agenda than pack building but it did build the tension between them.

I liked them both individually, but I never really invested in them as a couple and I thought the push/pull was overlong, though I did understand Daryl's perspective for the most part.

Nevertheless, if you're a fan of the series then Bitten By Fate is a worthwhile read.

I'm gutted that this will be the last Regent's Park Pack book but Annabelle goes out on a high with an action packed and tension filled romance between Daryl, who's been in the background since the start and his fellow beta Jason, one of the additions from the Primrose Park Pack.

Everything about this book just worked for me. I loved the idea of the pack bonding exercise providing the impetus for the potential mate bond to spark to life between Daryl and Jason.

Seeing how Daryl fights against all his instincts because of his fears is the central premise of the story, but there are extra layers wrapped around the plot which means it never gets bogged down in a "push me/pull me" narrative.

Nothing made me happier than having a genuine dialogue between the two and a little bit of pack interference from Alec ;)

I shall be sad to say goodbye but this series is one I'll come back to time and again.

I am so sad this series has come to its end, but it was the right time.
My favourite book in the series is still #3, but this one was pretty good. I liked the main characters a lot, specially Jason.
The plot was good, and this book gave a beautiful conclusion to the series. 😊

Sad to see this series come to an end. It’s been a nicely entertaining escapist read that required minimal brain power. Happily forgettable in the best way. Not amazing, not overly angsty or complex but not super fluffy cringe either. Decent mix of romance and plot. Do have to keep telling myself not to focus on inconsistencies or obvious plot plans. Things aren’t super deep and this wasn’t my favourite couple, but it’s been an enjoyable, easy series to get absorbed in.

I especially like that there is plenty of shifter world building, not for a minute do you forget they are shifters, but it is not saturated with alpha/omega stuff, there is no knotting/heat/ruts/mpreg and the characters all feel pretty equal to other and there are both male and females, its not an all male hyper-sexual omegaverse.

*nananananananananana* What’s that you say?
This is the last book? *covers ears* I can’t hear you……
Seriously though, I am devastated that this ride has come to an end. This series has brought me incredible joy over the last few years. I’ve always held my shifter bar high into the sky and Jacobs soars over the top every time. She has the uncanny ability to bring the human and their wolf to the page with seamless perfection. I can’t stress enough how much I appreciate her execution and coalescence of the man with the wolf. I want the wisdom of the man and the instinct of the wolf. I want to experience the combined wit, devotion and commitment between the two. I want to see the wolf in the man and then the man in the wolf. I don’t ever want to forget that I’m reading a shifter book. Regent’s Park Pack is all of that and more. This is one of those series that picks up steam and builds as it continues. I have loved all of them and thankfully, Jason and Daryl did not diminish my hot streak.

What's to like: I was thrilled things picked up where we left off in book five. The pack’s units have a bit of interference and can’t seem to finalize their secure integration. Despite every attempt Cam has made, he can’t force the trust he craves. The council can see that this Alpha could use a helping hand and set up a bonding boot camp of sorts. Hoping to defuse any extreme temper flares, Cam has requested two extra Beta’s join the exercise. Daryl and Jason are the “lucky” chosen beta’s and realize after the fact, their Alpha has an ulterior motive. Perhaps they could use a bit of quality time together too. And if Cam had any inkling that his betas would be a well-suited pair, well, let’s just pretend that’s just a happy coincidence. If I had any grumbles, which are few and very far between, it would be…I wanted an explosive grand finale. This was *sniff* the last act and I wanted the same crushing climax that I felt in book 3 and 4. I expected things to go out in a blaze of glory and that didn’t quite happen. Alas, I still adored it and have been mourning this conclusion since I read those final pages.

What's to love: As always, Jacobs delivers an imperfect (yet, totally perfect) pair with a feisty and fiery seduction. Daryl has his ‘reasons’ for not wanting to find his mate. He strongly believes mates are not a blessing but a curse. He has no interest in bonding or even looking for a potential bond. When the opportunity presents itself for some sexual relief with Jason, he figures a little bit of play never hurt anybody. But they cross the ‘playing’ line before he realizes it and he can’t believe he allowed himself to fall into the trap of a possible mate. Yes, he firmly regards bonding as punishment and he’s furious that his fun time with Jason evolved into something…more. But if there is anything he learned at pack bonding camp, everything happens for a reason. Jason tugged on my heart and I was desperate for him to have all his wishes granted. I loved the games. I loved the drama filled entertainment. I loved how destiny played her hand. *sigh* I loved…them. And isn’t that the best part? I’m so grateful we had some time with the rest of the pack, or most of them. I’m going to miss them…so much.

Beware of: Fate plays her hand again and I was desperate to watch everything unfold. This is not a stand-alone and should be read in proper order. A wicked wolf attacks and does his best to sabotage. And a stubborn beta will probably leave you a bit grumpy…for a little while. Fortunately, he pulls his head out of his tail!

This book is for: Regent Park Pack fans will definitely want to embark on this final action-packed stretch of this journey. This was an adventure I will never forget. Thanks for sharing this amazing family with us Annabelle, they will forever hold a special place in my heart.

I really enjoyed this, and could barely put it down, reading it in just a few short hours. In fact, knowing it’s the last one, I kept taking short breaks, to prolong the ending.

Much like his Alpha, Daryl wasn’t looking for a bond (or really wanting one), when close proximity and sex caused him to form one with Jason.

Will he continue to deny it, hurting Jason, or embrace it before it’s too late?

This was full of action, love, and betrayal. While I sort of understood his reasons, Daryl’s stubbornness caused and treatment of Jason after the bond started forming had me rating this lower.

This is it. The last book of the Regent's Park Pack. And I'm honestly so sad that it's over. It's been a wild ride but I can honestly say that I've enjoyed every minute of it. Jacob's created such an interesting world of shifters. Everything from the pack politics to how they handled things like bonding was extremely well done.

Bitten by Fate is about Jason and Daryl. I have been waiting for Jason to get his HEA since we were first introduced to him, having had a soft spot for him ever since. And it didn't disappoint. The journey to the HEA was a wild ride filled with action, interesting task and even quite a bit of humor.

Brb, going to cry a little because there's no more books.

4 stars!

I will start by saying I'm very very sad that this book was the last of the series. I skipped #5 because I don't actually like reading FF stories but I read all of the other ones and I enjoyed every single one. Book #3 'Bitten by Desire' is actually one of my favorites.

I can't explain how excited I was when I heard there is a new book. 'Bitten by Fate' is the story about Darryl and Jason, who I absolutely loved in the previous books. The plot, as I said before, was very interesting and now, with the packs united, something must be done in order to smooth the transition for the members who still questioned the joining. Team building was a smart move and I couldn't wait to read what will come next.

Even though Darryl and Jason weren't the people who needed some team building, they were included in the games and just then the bonding began.

Well, and did that triggered some explosive chemistry! I liked all of their interactions and I did like both their characters but the feeling the bond was kind of forced didn't leave me until the end. I believed their chemistry, it was ridiculously good, probably I had some reservations towards Darryl's behavior. The push and pull game they played didn't irritate me at all, but I wanted Darryl to decide for himself and not for other people to open his eyes. Jason deserved some happiness after everything that had happened to him in the past. That's my only complaint.

The writing was great, as Annabelle Jacobs's always is. The tension, the chemistry, and the relationship between the two MCs - hot and intense. I enjoyed every page of this book. Great ending to this amazing series.

Alec will always be my favorite wolf, though!

“Bitten by Fate” is the finale to Annabelle Jacobs’s “Regent’s Park Pack” series. The last of the upheaval that had been following the united pack finally came to an end in this sixth installment, with Daryl and Jason - two betas of the pack - at the center of the story.

It goes without saying that this series need to be read in chronological order as the event followed closely together from the first book to the last. I got to admit I overlooked Daryl most of the series (he mostly moved in the background anyway), while Jason already grabbed my attention after the close ordeal he had been subjected a couple of books back. So the pairing surprised me a bit, I mean I’m usually able to read between the lines but not this time.

As far as the internal pack issue, the revealing and conclusion were a bit of a let down for me. Considering the background story and how pack hierarchy affect the member’s power, it’s pretty wild that mere wolf could be deceiving alphas and betas altogether. One would thought these shifters relied heavily on instinct, especially when it already gave off warning (signal).

The romance portion had its moments. I commended Daryl for not wanting his animal instinct to dictate who he should be with, and Jason for respecting his wishes while willing to sacrifice the special bond they had to be with Daryl. Confusing much? How about this: Daryl didn’t deserve him as Jason was too good for him. Well. You get the gist. (I hope). That said, Daryl struck me as immature with his stubbornness over the bonding issue, yet playing with fire with the whole ”on camp affair he initiated. This was so not how I thought beta Daryl to be. His hot and cold treatment of Jason frustrated me no end!!

I’m quite fond of this series and feel sorry to say goodbye to them. As the finale I thought this book was lack a certain oomph to make it more memorable. Call me greedy but I wish there’s more to how that epilogue had gone, a more proper farewell to the whole pack in a way. Unless... dare we assume there to be spin off to this universe (just like “Butterfly Assassin”)? One can only hope. :)

Bitten by Fate, the sixth and final book in Annabelle Jacobs’ Regent’s Park Pack series, ties up the series’ long arc alongside the romantic conflict of two beta wolves, Daryl and Jason, as they do their part to try to ease tensions and assimilate the newest additions into the pack—those who were absorbed after events that saw the dissolution of the rival Primrose Hill Pack—and some of them aren’t at all happy about it.

The transition has been anything but smooth, several of the P-pack wolves are still feeling pangs of loyalty to their ex-Alpha, despite his proven corruption, and as a result, the foundation of Daryl and Jason’s story gives way to one of my favorite romantic tropes: forced proximity. When the Alpha Council and Cam arrange a two-week program to put the beta teams into situations where they will be required to work and think as a unit, with the hope of ironing out their differences and which, in turn, will help them form a bond and strengthen pack allegiance, it means Daryl and Jason, as both observers and participants, will be in each other’s back pockets for the duration of their stay. It also means that during that time they will not only become reliant on each other in personal ways, they also will have to acknowledge and confront the attraction to each other that builds and grows through their various trials—especially the unintentionally sexy ones.

The fact that they each have diametrically opposed wants and needs when it comes to relationships is at the heart of their conflict, even if that friction doesn’t dampen the spark of desire between them. There is an undeniable sexual tension there; however, Daryl is the no-strings-attached sort, while Jason wants it all—the mate bond, the forever, any- and everything that he and his wolf desire as symbiotic entity. Daryl isn’t just commitment-phobic, though; he’s learned to loathe everything there is to hate about the idea of a fated mate and the bonding process, and he resents that it’s tied to his wolf instinct, that he sees mating with someone as an artifice not aligned with human emotion but controlled by his innate shifter impulses, and that it has the power to defy what might otherwise be a long and loving relationship with a chosen partner. I appreciate that Jacobs addresses this subject at all, let alone in such a straightforward way. It’s a point that’s often glossed over in shifter romance, the insta-love/fated mate trope, the compellent without the benefit of seeing why the characters will work long-term, but this series breaks that mold and offers readers more depth to its relationships, and for that, it’s a cut above some of the other books in its subgenre.

Don’t play with fire and then expect not to get burned is a truism that applies to Daryl and Jason. They play. They catch fire. They get burned in an agonizing way. Jason knows they belong together; readers can see they belong together; and perhaps on some deeply instinctual level, even Daryl knows it, but he needed to overcome some personal obstacles and ingrained prejudices, baggage he's carried over from life under his parents' roof, before he can embrace it. Jason’s backstory and how he came out the other side of his trauma exactly the sort of man that Daryl could fall in love with isn’t without its impact, nor was the sacrifice Jason was willing to make for Daryl’s comfort and benefit, to prove his love was real rather than something conjured up through their shifter impulses.

It was great to see some of the characters from past books reappear in Bitten by Fate. The Regent’s Park Pack series has only gotten better as it’s progressed, and I’m both glad it exists and sad to see it coming to an end.

Saying goodbye to a series you dearly enjoyed isn't always easy and saying goodbye to this particular was very hard.

The way Annabelle Jacobs wove a thrilling storyline with amazing characters is something I loved from each of her books in the series. This book was no exception and I was with Daryl and Jason from the moment I opened the book.

Although the book is possible to read as a standalone the events of the previous books are hinted or talked about and I adwise any new reader to pick up the other books otherwise it might be a bit confusing following the events properly.

Jason is a former Primerose Pack member and after the split of said pack to others like the Regent's Park Pack they form a new pack - the Regent's Hill Pack. While some former member can't adjust to the new pack structure it's Jason's task to help the struggling member and to make the transition as smooth as possible. Not easy when there are some individuals who aren't willing to see the good in the new pack and the new possibilties.

I was really into the way how Jason and Daryl formed a bond. They are mutual attracted to each other, but Daryl's mistrust in the bonding and finding a mate for life due to bad personal experiences he witnessed is making him hesitant to let loose. That doesn't change that he and Jason can't keep their hands from each other - something that isn't wise to do at all while their original task is to help the other members to bond with each other as a close and united pack.

This last book in the series closes the last chapter around the Regent's Park Pack and former Primerose Pack fightings and I'm curious if we meet them again in other books by the author - if she continues to write wolf shifter series. :) For now we have to say goodbye.

I'll definitely recommend this series wholeheartedly and give this book 5 out of 5 stars.

I am beyond sad that this is the last book in this series as I have thoroughly enjoyed all of them! This is the final instalment of the Regents Park Pack series and is the story of Daryl and Jason.

Following on from the events of book 5 there are still some uneasiness and distrust between some of the old members of Newell's pack and Regents Park Pack. Subsequently Rachel and Jenn's units are sent on a team building two weeks with the alpha council and Jason and Daryl are sent a long as extra Beta's to intervene as necessary but also to do some team building of their own.

But as is always the case with Regents Park pack things don't quite go to plan. From feuding pack members and Daryl and Jason's budding relationship things become very complicated. Realing from events in his past involving his parents Daryl hates everything about bonds and wants nothing to do with them. Jason however loves the idea of the security, stability and love of a bond but after hooking up whilst on the team building retreat and no hint of a bond emerging between them much to Darryl's relief. Jason resigns himself to the fact that yet again he hasn't found his mate. For now.

“Do you want this bond? Do you want to spend the rest of your life connected to me like that?” Jason’s heart thumped against his rib cage. “Yes.” He closed his eyes, breathing the scents swirling between them, gasping in surprise when Daryl rested their foreheads together. “Then you deserve to know why I just . . . I can’t.”

I loved this book. I really enjoyed reading about Jason and Daryl and they were believable and realistic MCs. I wouldn't recommend reading this as a standalone as there's many references to events and characters from previous books and honestly I would recommend you start at the beginning anyway as they're so good.

“If I’m lucky enough to bond with someone, I want it to be because we both chose it. I don’t want to have to persuade someone—you—that I’m worth it.” Silence. In barely a whisper , so quiet that Jason thought he wasn’t meant to hear it, came the words. “You are worth it.”

Whilst I'm sad this is the last in the series I am so happy to have read and enjoyed this series from the beginning and cannot wait to read them all over again!

4.5 stars- Satisfying and enjoyable close a really good series

As sad as it is to see series I’ve enjoyed come to a close, I love it when they go out on a high note and that’s just how I felt with Bitten by Fate. The author tidied up a lot of the minor plotlines in this novel and capped off the pack merge with a storyline that yielded plenty of romance and excitement, leaving me completely satisfied if a little wistful about saying goodbye to the Regent’s Park pack.

I’ve been hoping for Jason’s story since first meeting him in the third book and that desire has only grown with more insights into his character. I loved the opposites attract vibe between them, and really liked seeing Jason bring Daryl’s full personality to the surface. I also liked that there was a bit more build-up to their relationship, giving time to create and strengthen a connection and establish chemistry. As always, Bitten by Fate was filled with plenty of action that kept the pace moving and ensured I remained invested in the continuing plotlines as well as the romance between Jason and Daryl.

I’ve truly enjoyed getting to know the Regent’s Park pack’s story and the personal stories of many of the major characters. While I’d love to spend more time in this world, I have to say that Bitten by Fate was a fantastic send off for the series. If you enjoy shifter fantasy romance, I’d definitely recommend this series.

Bitten by Fate is the sixth and final book in the Regent's Park Pack series, and we see how Cam is still trying to bring together both sides of his new pack. Calling in the big guns, he sends two units, plus two betas to 'oversee', off to a couple of weeks "bonding session", held by the Alpha Council. Daryl and Jason are the two betas there as support. Their time together has some unexpected side effects for both of them.

I am so sad to see this series come to an end, but I am supremely happy with how it was done. Daryl and Jason are complete opposites in nearly every way, but this is what makes them so perfect for each other. Their characters are written so well that even when one of them acts like a d*ck, you can understand the whys of it! With laughs at the bonding activities and tension (both sexual and otherwise), there is something here for everyone.

Exceedingly well written, with no editing or grammatical errors that I noticed, I am sad to leave this Regent's Park Pack. Their world is clear and concise, with strong characters, both main and supporting. I would love to hear more about how they are getting on further down the line, but I will just have to read this author's other books in the meantime. 😉 It's a hard job, but someone's got to do it!

Absolutely recommended by me. This is one of my favourites of the series, although Cam and Gareth still hold the highest honour.

Love love love! A wonderful conclusion to a great series! Jason and Daryl weren't the couple I was expecting, but they work so well, and seeing them work to get there was so sweet!
Plus, with challenges, mystery, pack tension, and a very exciting climax, this was a wonderful end to a great series!

Passable.

This series started out on.
Book one was cute, book two was pretty basic and book three was charming.
Then it took a long walk off a short pier into the Marianna trench.

It feels like the author forgot to keep track of much of anything, with key characters missing from entire chapters and scenes and the scenarios and plot points held about as much water as a wet paper bag.

"Spoilers ahead"

Daryl's entire reason for not wanting to bond...
Was because his parents had a normal non bonded mates marriage and the mom had a potential bond with someone else and it broke his parents' marriage up.

Which.. makes no sense.
Like, you would think he would ONLY be interested in people he could bond with in order to avoid that situation but no, he just wants to be forever alone... And then decides to get into bed with the golden retriever, poster boy for bonded matches.

Because that makes sense.

Also, the earlier books had this wild, possessive territorial pull that had mates flinging people around like rag dolls to get to their boi and the only flinging that happened in this book was Daryl being flung into a tree.

Because the author seems to think the only way people can truely choose to bond is a near death experience.

Seriously.
Every book.
Its a good thing this series is based in the UK because no health insurance company would ensure them with the amount of dudes on death beds this series has but I have to say death by trebuchet was the only genuinely surprising part of this story.

Somehow Daryl has to climb onto one end of a giant seesaw while his group counter weight the other side with ropes, the ropes break and Daryl is yeeted into the atmosphere like the first dog in space.

I think the worst part is that I STILL HAVE NO GD CLUE WHAT THE POINT OF THE SUICIDE SEESAW OF SATAN WAS EVEN FOR.

To be a fly on the wall of that scene's composition.
I want to kill a man by impaling him on a tree branch.
How can I accomplish this?
The world's largest set of scales.

Listen.
I am turning forty next month and there isn't enough time left in my entire life to counter balance what I have wasted on this series.

I hesitated to read the first book so many times and I wish I had listened to my instincts but apparently mine are human and not as good as a shifter's so I was made to SUFFER.

Bitten by Fate is the sixth (and final!) book in the Regent's Park Pack series and you need to read books 1-4 at the very least or you will be lost.

Daryl is one of Cam's old betas and is roped, along with Jason, one of the new betas and former member of the Primrose Pack, to supervise a team-building exercise and learn to work together. Even if he is attracted to Jason, the last thing he wants is to be in a relationship or forge a bond with anyone because of something that happened in his past. However, when one of the exercises triggers a potential bond between them, Daryl will need to decide if hanging on to the past is worth losing what he could have with Jason.

I liked Jason a lot. He was steadfast, loyal and very supportive. I liked Daryl, too, he was a good, strong beta, but I wanted to punch him something fierce so many times throughout the book. He was just so difficult with him not wanting to have a relationship/bond with anyone because of what happened to his parents. It practically took Alec and his mother to make Daryl listen and realize things weren't really how he thought they were. And then we have Jason just accepting it all and not showing any backbone at all and I was sort of done with them, no matter how hot they were together.

However, even if the relationship aspect of the story didn't quite work for me, and really, it's more of a case of my pet peeves working against it than anything else, the book was a great way to tie up loose ends and finally bring the pack together. I really enjoyed the action and the exercises and how that part played out. It was nice seeing it all come full circle with Nathan owning up to his actions in book one setting everything into motion and being able to move past it with his new packmates. And of course, it was great seeing Cam being the great Alpha we all knew he could be, so different from Newell, and the new members of his pack finally realizing it. Recommendable!

I’ve been curiously awaiting Jason’s and Daryl’s story, excited to see how it would play out. It’s not exactly an enemies to lovers romance, but the animosity that still exists between some members of the Primrose Pack and their new pack serves a similar purpose and gives this unlikely couple something extra to overcome.

The forced proximity during the pack-building course was a great touch and I loved how the tension and emotions between Jason and Daryl continued to build throughout. As with the other couples in this series, Jason and Daryl also discover they have the potential for a mate bond, but that doesn’t mean they have it easy. Not in the slightest. They don’t just go happily into the sunset, instantly filled with joy and overcome with blind devotion. And that’s part of what makes their story so wonderfully gripping. The intense emotions, the passion, the angst, painful past experiences, the outside threat to the pack, … it all combines to make this a 5-star read.

Reading this book was bittersweet in a way, because this is the last one in the series and I’m loathe to say goodbye. The world-building, the character development, it’s all so expertly done. It’s not often that you get a shifter universe with such a sense of realism, well-rounded characters and a perfect mix of romance and suspense. I especially love that the alpha’s and even the beta’s are not stereotypical domineering, pumped-up beefcakes, but caring and insightful leaders, of either gender. I feel a re-read coming on.

As the last book in this series, I think there was a lot at play with tying up loose ends and giving everyone their happy ending. And I'm pretty sure if you've read this series, you'll be thrilled at this finale.

Jason has been eyeing Daryl for a while now, but they've been on opposite sides, just recently merged into the same pack as betas. With all of the animosity from the merger, the packs have yet to find their groove together. The alphas have set up a two week pack bonding experience and have sent Jason and Daryl to assist.

Daryl has never wanted more than a fling. His parents' relationship ended viciously because of a bond and he's promised himself that he'll never let that happen to him. But what's the harm in a little playing around?

Jason was up front and honest in his feelings. Daryl was only fooling himself. It was a bond in the making and they both knew it. It was heart-breaking when Daryl made a decision, but Jason was so giving and loyal. It floored me how well he took the news and how much he was wiling to give up and risk for Daryl.

This was quite a love story and it was really inspiring. Annabelle Jacobs did a wonderful job finishing up her shifter series with this last tale. Such a great series.

I thought this was a pretty chill, cute book. I’ll miss this group of werewolves. This is one of the very few shifter books I’ve read with zero rapey-ness and I love that. The book with Cam and Gareth is still my favorite but this one probably ties with Rachel and Nate’s books for me. I’m still baffled by Seb and Tim, but I’m over it. I had a great time seeing more of the alpha council. I feel like I’m many books introducing ruling bodies like that usually make them more of a plot device with very little consistency, but they all felt like individuals and a reliable group, which was so nice. I still love Karen Wallace. She’s badass, well-respected, and as a reader I trusted her.
