This should be fun. It’s time to move beyond the eight villages and see what’s left of the world, eight-hundred years after the cataclysm. First I’ll head east to the largest city that we know about. It’s bigger than any of the Eight Villages near Bonvale. Then we’ll take off for what used to be the largest city in the state, off to the west. Here was an international airport there. I don’t know what we’ll find. The girls and I will be ready, but I don’t expect a picnic. No matter what happens, I expect that we’ll find a way to have some fun. I’ll take the little nymph, Ellie, just to make sure. I wish I could take all of them but I can’t. This is the first step toward exploring the world of the 30th century. And the first step toward finding out what happened to my family, 900 years ago. Clarice and Brenda and the nymphs are getting the vehicles and weaponry ready now. The twins and I are training. We move out in a day or so. Well, that’s the plan, anyway. We’ll see. This is Book 5 of the Nogud Legacy.
Ok the first 25%and the last 30% where very good but the middle part was just weird and not fun to read. Overall it was good but the author lost my interest in the middle of the story.
I've only stuck with this series this far as I feel there is an interesting story here, albeit doled out with apparent reluctance.
The beginning of this book showed great promise in that regard as things started to move. That was completely derailed in the middle 1/3 of the book when it bogged back down into what makes up the greater part of all the books. Those who like that combination of "mindfulness" (whatever that is) and erotica won't be fussed about that, but there is an entire post-apocalyptic world to explore and I want more of that.
We get more of the latter in the last 1/3 of the book which gets this review a 4th star. It is my hope that if there's a 6th book the relationships will be set and Joshua and the women/gynoids can get to the business of carving out a bubble of civilization and finding out what happened in Tahiti.
I liked the story going into the ruined city and finding cannibals. What I didn't like was the easy mode battles. It wasn't exciting or fun to read.
Then as if there wasn't enough sexbots the author adds another who takes over for Brenda and Clarice, so those two characters are now worthless except for being sexbots. This is how you ruin a good story by marginalizing good characters. Then Joshua proceeds to have sex with a three foot tall girl which logistically would not work and it is creepy. This author apparently has some fetish about little people sex and because of that loses readers from what I read online.
These aspects of the story ruined the plot and it could have been really good, hence the need for a editor who would not have allowed these bad elements and the book would have been a better story.
All five of The Nogud Legacy are Super . If a sixth pops up on my radar, I'll jump for it. Yes, there is a lot of sex in them, but the only thing that "got to me" was the thought of cannibalism . (That's not a giveaway, just what I see). The characters are life like and understandable, at times even loveable. While the plot lines jump around a little, the whole series is just great, keeping me near the edge of my seat and yearning for an opening that will allow me to " slack off"for a breather.
Anything Miss Foxworthy writes is great. Think of a woman like Robert Heinlein, in her characterizations. Plot, dialog, and just plain fun. Miss Foxworthy, you have a brilliant, wonderful, and beautiful mind. Thank-you, and please keep shedding light upon how women think and feel. At 72, I’m still in the dark. Again, you have a beautiful mind…
It’s a very interesting story and is quite different. The characters are funny and very interesting. I enjoyed reading this book very much and would recommend it to anyone looking for a great book.
I binged all five of The Nogug Legacy even though I had started the Lost In Time series. They were both WAY GOOD. I should not interuped the latter. Please hurry with book 6,7,8 (however many of the Nogud series. RDB, Kelseas's Gandpa.
Very entertaining and enjoyable, the series didn’t leave you hanging. The reader would like more. My thought would be have another series that picks up a relative that then follows this story
I enjoyed the book. It was an amazing journey from the 8 villages to the big city. Everyone discovering their place and some adjusting their very reason for being. Re-introducing tech back to the world gave the explorers a decided advantage in command and control. Joshua is maturing as are the members of his family. Good job!
This story so far is captivating and fresh. I look forward to the next book. Thank you Marilyn. It was refreshing the way you brought this story together.
