Be careful or you'll get burned. The three hottest au pairs in history are back, and this time they're ready to rule the Hamptons. Mara has all the VIPs in the hottest clubs hanging on her every word. Eliza's family is back from financial ruin; and she's got the platinum charge cards to prove it. Jacqui is newly single and ready for some steamy summer hook-ups. The girls seem to have it all this summer...but looks, as we all know, can be deceiving.
Mara's living every girl's dream: playing house with her boyfriend, Ryan Perry, on his parents' luxury yacht while writing a column about night-life in the Hamptons. With a press pass to every hot event, Mara's ready to hit the red carpet and scoop even the most seasoned journalists. If only she could get a pass from Ryan, who just wants her to stay home and cuddle.
Last summer's "No boys!" mantra is a distant memory for Jacqui. While the new au pair, Shannon, handles the Perry kids, Jacqui searches for some serious fun. And she doesn't have to look far: Three dot.com boy millionaires have moved in next door and are more than happy to compete for her affections. Thus Jacqui's new mantra is, "Why have just one when you can have them all?"
Eliza and Jeremy are in total relationship bliss. She's decided to take the next step with Jeremy and nothing's going to stop her this time. Unfortunately, what she thought would be a cakewalk internship for a famous fashion designer turns out to be more hours of hard labor than she, or her relationship, are ready for. Too bad Jeremy won't stop questioning her work ethic long enough for Eliza to get back in the mood

I should know Melissa De La Cruz isn't always my favourite author. I was obsessed with Blue Bloods but also hated them at the same time. It was such a complicated relationship with that YA series. I wanted to give her another go as an adult, and I just didn't like this one. It didn't help that it's book 3, but the writing style also didn't work for me.
For one, the rich kids who get everything they want vibe... I'm over it. When I was a teen, I might have enjoyed it more, but now it annoys me.
I find the story drags on and the relationships aren't well developed. Some of them, I don't even get why they are friends or are together?? I was bored. And, I couldn't connect.
So this is a no from me. I'd like to try Descendants by MDLC but I'm nervous...
Okay, seriously? Why does every single book seem to get worse? Besides the fact that this book just goes more into complicated relationships and more doom, I DO NOT understand WHY the ever-loving effing hell Eliza, Mara, and Jacqui are legit characters. Why?
First of all: now that Eliza’s gotten her stuff together from Skinny Dipping, we now have to read about her getting all sappy with Jeremy. Okay. Jeremy. I don’t understand. I think I need someone to explain this to me. Why in the world is Jeremy always doing this?! He constantly, constantly tells Eliza how spoiled she is, and even though I can kind of see where this comes from, it’s just getting ridiculous. Maybe Jeremy, you should’ve stayed away from Eliza from books one and two, but NOW you wanna complain!
Number Two: Mara. My God, Mara was my favorite in Beach Lane, but now, she’s probably one of my least. Probably because she does this thing that causes me the greatest amount of irritation someone can feel and makes me want to cry.
Her relationship dynamic with Ryan is so bad that I always ended up going back and rereading scenes just because I do not understand what Mara sees in Ryan.
Literally besides the fact that she does my greatest pet peeve ever (!!!): following her boyfriend to college/university (kind of) and then deciding that in order to “be their own person” they need to go to another college. Get. Real. If you were your “own person” then girl, you would not need to be running all the way to Columbia to get away from Dartmouth! Why? Cause Ryan goes there and so does Tinker (let’s hope I got her name right cause I don’t care).
Number Three: Besides the fact that Jacqui wants to date three guys—okay, whatever, that’s her choice. She is probably the only character that still follows up with babysitting even if we don’t need their drama.
And Finally: Babysitting? Lol, in your dreams, Readers! Friendship? Sure, when they have time away from their true lurves! Relationships? Besides being the written format of The Real Future Hot-Mess Wives of the Hamptons, I don’t really see a point.
I do not mean to rant, even though most of this review may seem like it’s in that format, but to be honest, this series only has the fast pace going for it at this point. Everything is clearly illogical and these girls are in high school if you really think about it. Reading the last book just for the sake of drama and finishing off my TBR goals!
My love for this series basically decreases with each book. The first one still is and always will be my favorite. These books are super easy and quick reads, but the characters are incredibly annoying. Mara used to be my favorite, but now I can't stand her. Jacqui has grown on me though, she has become my favorite character of them all. I do wish this series encompassed one entire summer instead of 4 different ones, we miss a lot of the small details that we need for the story to fully flow. Everything thing just happens with no real path to it. This series is not at all my favorite, but it is an easy read and I'm looking forward to finishing it off very soon.
This book didn't catch my attention at all. yeah I thought it was interesting the first couple pages but as I read on It just kept dragging on and on and on. I could say that this is possibly one of the worse books that I have ever read.
I found this book in a cabin I was staying in over New Years. It was silly. It's for those people who adore the fashion scene and not mind pushing through all the designer brand name dropping to try and find some sort of plot.
This is the third book in the Au Pairs series that started with Beach Lane.
Again, all the teen drama could have been avoided but it was fun to read.
Why do I feel like I didn't like Jacqui again? She was better in the second book and here she made another choice that wasn't good. I really hope she'll grow up in the final book.
I enjoy these summer reads cause they're so light-hearted and fun but they're not as great as I hoped they would be. I'm intrigued though so I'll read the last book in the series. And they're super fast to read too.
I got into this book more to finish it than being really into it. It was a coming of age book for 3 friends who met by being au pairs. With their high school finished and with University on the horizon it became a summer of figuring their lives out and the directions they were going to go in. As per the type of book this is, boyfriends, finding their true passions and finding themselves is the theme for the story.
Another fun summer in the Hamptons! I like being able to see where each girl is at in her journey and how we get to see them grow from the start of the series until now. It is fun to see each girl grow and change and also get closer to their ultimate goals. If you have read the other two Au Pairs books, you definitely need to read this one. Not necessary to read in order, but you will certainly get more out of them if you do.
Just like the second book: Eliza's story is unrealistic but generally fun (except for the boy stuff), and she gains a bit more character development with each installment. Jacqui gets new forgettable boys to flirt with, and her main story is a tad boring with some highlights here and there. Mara is self-obsessed and useless, & gets everything handed to her for no reason.
Maybe this would have been better if I read the other two in the series that came before this one lol. This was a gift from my book club and didn’t fully realize what I was getting myself into with this book. Fun throwback to gossip girl style books and mid 2000s fashion but was a little too bored to read the whole thing
2 ⭐️ Very whiney the whole book. 2 of the girls force their relationship to work and instead of having a convo they just let the guy gas lights & belittles & disrespects them.
Then Jac who loves love is now with 3 dudes (all friends who own a business together none the less) bc 1 didn’t workout… that’s makes sense
I loved this book, my favorite in the series. The girls were so much more grown up and there was even a part in the last 20 pages that made me tear up. I can't wait to start the last book!
This book was more enjoyable than book 2, but it's definitely a fluffier read. Read this if you want to be nostalgic for the mid 2000s or the Gossip Girl books.
The third book of the Au Pair series from Melissa De La Cruz and things were getting a bit crazy in this third installment. The girls reunite once again, their third summer in the Hamptons: the summer before they start their freshman year of college. For Eliza, her family is back on top like before the scandal, she is dating Jeremy and is accepted to Princeton after working very hard during her senior year. Once again, Eliza isn’t working for the Perry’s. However, she has an internship with Sydney Minx, a very famous fashion designer. Eliza works very hard this summer, especially when Sydney’s personal assistant, Paige who is being all Devil Wears Prada on her. Though, Eliza realizes her true passion: to become a fashion designer and create her own design. For Mara, she is going back to the Hamptons to live with her boyfriend Ryan this summer, she won’t work for the Perry’s but she has a job as an intern at Hamptons magazine. Mara has applied to Dartmouth to be with Ryan but she is in the waiting list. What Mara thought it would be a romantic summer to live with her boyfriend, well there is trouble in paradise. For Jacqui, she will work another summer for the Perry’s as an Au pair and she receives an email from NYU and she didn’t get in because she was missing necessary classes so she needs to take a fifth year in senior. Jacqui is single and she is thinking about finding ‘’the one’’. Three Harvard students, self-made millionaires just happen to live next door to he Perry’s. All there of them would do anything for Jacqui. The problem is that Jacqui can’t decide which one of the guys is the one for her. The Perry kids have grown up and we see there is tension between Kevin and Anna. Also, the Perry’s hired a new and young au pair, Shannon, to help out Jacqui with the kids. Jacqui isn’t quite so sure about Shannon but she will need Shannon’s help to keep Kevin and Anna together! Even though things don’t go to plan, the girls have each other and each other’s back to help one another!
I was really happy to read that there was going to be more of Mara and Ryan, my favorite couple. I liked how the girls have grown a bit more from the first two books. It’s another great book to read about my favorite characters :) I can’t wait to read Crazy Hot, the last book from the series!!
Eliza- Eliza's family is back to their original lifestyle and she is still dating jeremy. she is looking for to sleeping with him. She originally has a job with Sydney Minx, a designer. During his store opening she comes in on a helicopter and she is fired for taking away the spotlight. She is also hated by his assistant paige, who jeremy knows. AFter her parents take away her credit cards she starts working at Lunch. Her and jeremy are constantly fighting because he thinks she is spoiled. She decides to start her own fashion line. She has a fashion show, and jeremy shows up. He explains that paige is crazy because she wants to date him again and so she was taking out her jealousy on eliza. Her show is a big success and she talks to the dean of Parson's. She decides to defer Princeton so she can apply to Parson's. Mara- Mara is living on the boat with Ryan for the summer and has an internship at a local magazine. She also applied to Dartmouth but was wait listed. She quickly becomes very successful at her job. She is jealous of Ryan's relationship with a girl named Tinker who is in the same fraternity as Ryan at Dartmouth. He spends his days surfing with her, and Mara thinks that he doesn't care about her job. They are constantly fighting because of living together. After getting into Dartmouth she decides to go to Columbia. She breaks up with Ryan because they need to see who they are alone. Jacqui- She finds out that she did not get into NYU because she was missing necessary classes so she needs to be a fifth year senior. She also dated Kit for a while but he was too jealous so she wants to date many boys this summer. She has been living with the perry's all year who have been paying for her high school tuition. On her way to the Hamptons she meets three boys: Grant, Ben, and Duffy. Once they get to the Hampton's Anna and Kevin fight a lot and he files her with divorce papers. Jacqui starts dating all three boys who are living next door in the Reynold castle. Jacqui tries to get the Perry's back together, and ends up throwing them an anniversary party. She breaks up with all three boys. The Perry's get back together. She also works with Shannon the other au pair for the Perry's and they become close.
Review: This book was good, but again I think that Mara and Eliza should have broken up with their guys. In Mara's case she should have just done it earlier because Ryan is a jerk, but my qualm is that she makes it seem like its all Mara's fault. In Eliza's case Jeremy is just constantly a jerk to her, and the author treats him like he is some great guy.
Mara, Jacqui and Eliza are back for their third summer together! Now that everyone has their own partner with them, everything should be great, right? WRONG!
Mara and Ryan now live together in a yacht and Mara has a job as a journalist. Too bad Ryan wants to stay home. Then there's Eliza and Jeremy. She just can't wait to lose her virgin--HOLD UP! * SPOILER ALERT* Didn't she lose her virginity to Ryan? In the last book it was implied that they hook up and then fell into a "friends-with-benefits" relationship(Ryan's words, not mine). Anyways, she just can't wait to "lose" it with him. Trouble is, her intern, Paige, is being all Devil Wears Prada on her. When she discovers Jeremy's past, she's starting to doubt herself . . . And Jacqui is the responsible one in this book, since she's the only au pair working. With a new au pair working with her, Shannon, of course. Not only that, three millionaires want to conquest her heart . . . and she's having fun with that.
This wasn't as good as the other two books. First off, it was kind of cheesy. I'm okay with cheesy--sometimes. But something else was pissing me off: What's with all the Gwen Stefani mentions? Did Gwen Stefani payed Melissa De La Cruz to be mentioned? There was always a mention of "The girls were listening to Gwen Stefani's new album", or "The girls played Gwen Stefani's song on the radio". It was like that from beginning to end. LITERALLY.
Despite that, I want to know what happens next. :)
Things start getting a little crazy in this third installment of the popular and addicting series! Actually, all three girls start out the summer thinking that it will be the best ever. Eliza’s got a killer job working for a famous fashion designer and is determined to spend some quality time with her long-distance boyfriend Jeremy. Mara’s got a press pass into the hottest parties in the Hamptons as part of her job for working at Hamptons magazine. On top of that, she’s living with Ryan on his yacht, a prelude to what she hopes will be two glorious years of being at college with him. Now if only Dartmouth would move her off their waiting list…
Meanwhile, Jacqui’s freshly single and thinking about finding The One. Three Harvard students, self-made millionaires, happen to fortunately live next door, and all three of them would do anything for Jacqui. Trouble is, Jacqui can’t make up her mind as to which one of the three boys is THE One for her. In the meanwhile, however, she guesses she’ll just get together with all three of them…
But as everyone knows, things hardly ever go as planned. The girls’ summer might not be as great as they had imagined it to be. But through loves gained and loves lost, they will always have each other.
