Decades ago, ambitious Zack Hayes set his sights on the White House. He’s worked his whole life to become the leader of the free world—attending the right schools, marrying the perfect bride—all to aid his campaign. He didn’t realize someone behind the scenes has been pulling the strings to manipulate Zack and the country he loves into a dangerous position—one he will risk his life to wrench free from. The one thing he can’t risk is Elizabeth Matthews.

From the moment she met Zack Hayes, Liz felt the connection. Serving as his campaign manager and then his press secretary, she accepted that her love for him would remain unrequited. Still, she’d thought they were friends, so when he pushed her aside, she felt the stab in her heart. And when she realizes he’s done it to protect her, nothing will stop Liz from standing by his side—not even the men who would use her as a weapon against him.

As shocking secrets are revealed, Zack and Liz find succor and passion in each other’s arms. When the ultimate villain shows his face, Zack may have to choose between his country and the woman he loves…

He wasn’t a man given to impatience, but then he’d never craved anyone the way he did Elizabeth.

If you're looking for a book to keep you up all night and a series that you will never want to end, look no further. Because this phenomenal series couldn't have ended with a better book. An epic conclusion to one epic thrill ride full of twists and turns, action and suspense, and scorching hot romance!!!

I've spent 5 books waiting on pins and needles for Mr. President, Zach Hayes to finally get his book. The tension and chemistry between him and Elizabeth is like a reader's foreplay that lasts for 4 books. And by the end of Smoke and Sin, you're left desperate for answers and utterly invested in Zach and Elizabeth's HEA, and rabid to get your hands on the final book. And let me just tell you, this was worth every minute of the agonizing wait!!!
He sent her a feral smile and sauntered closer, pure need coursing through his veins as he tore off that strangling mental leash that had held him back for so long and reached for her.

I've loved Elizabeth from book one. This sharp witted and strong willed Press Secretary is never afraid to voice her mind. And when it comes to the games that Zach has been playing with her heart in order to keep her safe, she's had enough. Once she learns the reason that he's been keeping her at arm's length, all bets are off. She was the perfect balance to Zach's intensity. And the man is all kinds of intense! They say that still waters run deep, and the man sure has some intensity behind his calm and professional persona. Elizabeth has always been his weakness and he's done denying it.

There's also a secondary subplot that runs flawlessly to the story that only adds another addicting element to an already fantastic plot. I won't tell you what the subplot is, but I will tell you that it was utterly DELICIOUS.

This book was a page-turner from beginning to finish. There were so many twists and turns that I thought my head would explode. I couldn't put it down for even a second and ended up reading it in one sitting and licking my fingers afterwards. If you're looking for a series that will keep you glued to your kindle, you've found your next addition. I can't recommend it enough!

Zack Hayes is the President of the United States, a position he and his family planned for him seemingly since birth. But now he’s in turmoil as revelations about the conspiracy involving the Russian cartel and his past begin to reach a climax that threaten his presidency. Elizabeth (Liz) Matthews, his press secretary and the woman he’s secretly loved for years, stands steadfastly by his side but may not be who she appears to be.

First, this is a series that must be read in order as there is a continuing story arc that builds with each book, revealing a little bit more about the mystery each time. This is the final one in the series and provides the answers I’ve waited for since the beginning. Zack and Liz’s romance finally gets the attention both have deserved and yearned for and it became the worst kept secret within the White House. In the meantime, the other Perfect Gentlemen and the women in their lives all collaborate to encircle and protect Zack while they work to solve the conspiracy, flesh out the inside traitors and bring down the cartel.

The narrator brought these characters to life and I was especially pleased with the voice given to Liz. It’s not often that a male narrator handles female characters that well. Boudreaux was exceptional with all of them. I loved the story and where it led. Most of my theories were proven true and there were some new revelations I hadn’t foreseen. It was filled with humor, mystery, romance, suspense and intrigue, yielding an outcome I found satisfying. The epilogue was priceless and this is how you end a series, one that I thoroughly enjoyed.

I probably would have given this book 5 stars if the authors would calm down with all the "feelings". It was just so much at times and over the top. Other than that though, I seriously loved the mystery plot and finally finding out the whole truth about all the questions brought up in the series. I was pleasantly surprised by a few revelations and am glad to knock this series off my list.

this book. 😒
so these were my tweets. https://twitter.com/Limecello/status/...

I KNEW I'd be ... ugh. And I so hoped but ... no.
I wanted to take an iron rail and swing it at Zack's head. To say nothing of Roman - though his head AND junk would've gotten the beat down.

I'm FURIOUS at how Liz is just "oh ok" which - fuck - I get forgiveness and shit but COME. THE. FUCK. ON. BITCH. COME. ON.
Weak. Goddamn .Sauce.
Where he's all "oh but I do love you" CONTRARY TO LITERALLY ALL HIS ACTIONS AND HIS ASSHOLE JACKWAGON MASSIVE FUCKERY.

I'm so disappointed because I loved Zack and Liz. LOVED them. And I loved the longing Zack had. How into her he was.

And then he's a fucking MASSIVE JACKASS OF HOLY FUCKERY. And Roman too. And ROMAN DOESN'T PAY ENOUGH EITHER. JFC couldn't he at least have been shot or roughed up or something. 😒

Then there's all the real world timeline garbage and TBH I had to skim some of the ~Russians/plot stuff cuz you know - too close to home what with this garbage administration.

Mad saves this book but it kinda sucked half the book was dedicated to Mad and Sara making up.
So the rest of it was just showing Zack being a fucking GIANT PROLAPSED ANUS to Liz. Because he's so torn. Yeah I get he's "the leader of the free world" but fuck you buddy.
And not in a good way.

Fucker.
Ugh.

The epilogue was super cute - but also so vague. Grr.
I still love book 1 ... and obviously I have very strong feelings about this book but ... :\ it was a let down.

Boring...too chick-lit. With the Gentlemen being the chicks...all their feelings...snooze.
Shocking since the H was the Leader of the Free World and a bit of a dirty talker, the H/h truly loved each other (both couples since the dead dude is alive and romancing his baby mama as well as the main couple) and had to wait years to get together but...my eyes glazed over, I skimmed the middle, guessed the bad guy, was right, and read the cute epilogue.
But I need so much more to enjoy a story than found here. Sometimes, you just want the Alpha to grunt.

Zach Hayes said it best: "Wow, just Wow!" As the last book in the series, this is fantastic from beginning to end. There have been a lot of conspiracies floated and we finally get to find out what really happened and why. This series has been a real surprise to me. I didn't expect to love both the characters and the plot arc so much. The action and the tension make this a real great finale to the series.

“𝗔𝗿𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗮𝘀𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗺𝗲 𝗼𝗻 𝗮 𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗲, 𝗠𝗿. 𝗣𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁?”

Everything comes full circle with the sexy, emotional, and heart-pounding finale of one of my favorite romantic suspense series! 𝑻𝒉𝒆 𝑷𝒆𝒓𝒇𝒆𝒄𝒕 𝑮𝒆𝒏𝒕𝒍𝒆𝒎𝒆𝒏 series by the dynamic duo, Shayla Black and Lexi Blake, comes to an intense and eye-opening conclusion in 𝐀𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐏𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐬𝐮𝐫𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐏𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐭. I’ve been waiting for Zack and Liz’s happily ever after since the series started, but once it was in my hands, I wanted nothing more than to take my time, savor their story, because I knew it was going to be an EPIC one…a well deserved, well fought happily ever after. Just when I thought this writing powerhouse couldn't surprise me anymore, they threw in a few twists and turns that had my head reeling, my stomach in knots, and my heart on the verge of jumping out of my chest! Secrets, lies, and deception. Passion, suspense, and romance. If you thought the journey to the truth was going to be pretty…think again.

I was really excited for this book, to bring about the close of things, for everyone to realize that Mad was alive and to find out what was going on with the Russians and Zack. It was fun to see everyone react to Mad being alive, but I wished they would have eased Sara into things instead of letting her find out how they did. I liked that Sara didn’t immediately fall at Mad’s feet, but had to work things through in her head and talking to him. Sure he was trying to protect her, but man…he was cruel in words and actions.

The one thing that pissed me off about this book was Zack and how he treated Elizabeth. At first it was great, but then he started to listen to Roman, how things everyone is bad. It affected how Zack saw Elizabeth and how he treated her. I wanted Elizabeth to tell Zack to go to hell for what he did, but sadly that didn’t happen. I had to be content to see her rip Roman a new one towards the end of the book when everything started to happen.

The one character that surprised me that I wished we could have gotten more with was Freddy. I loved how crazy he was!

The epilogue had me smiling, because these people deserved kids like this.

“That was how he felt with Elizabeth. He felt fire and passion and life. He felt the weight of all his responsibilities float away because she wasn’t a responsibility. She was a necessity. She was air in his lungs, blood in his veins.”

“Damn, this is a lot of bodies. Are we planning on calling the cops or should we grab some shovels? Then again, I think someone will notice us burying a bunch of people in the Rose Garden.”

<<><> Some Backstory <><>

^^ ~ Twenty two years ago, six guys went to Creighton Academy and became known as “The Perfect Gentlemen” (don’t let the name fool you). They were the closest of friends while at the academy and twenty years later they are all very rich, powerful and still remain extremely loyal to each other.

In the previous books, one of the six (Maddox) dies in a plane crash. Gabe, Connor, Dax, Roman and Zack all question the circumstances. Things just aren’t adding up and it appears there may be a lot more to the story than anyone suspects, including ties to the Russian mob and a plot involving the President (who is one of the Perfect Gentlemen).

<><> Book Five Story Overview <><>
Some recent findings have the Perfect Gentlemen thinking Zack is somehow tied to a Russian mob international espionage plot. Questions about his parents and his nanny have led the group to some interesting facts over the last four books.
~~ “Zack had become very aware that he was the focus of a global conspiracy. He’d spent his whole life striving to be president of the United States. Apparently, the Russians had been playing a long game with the same intended outcome for reasons Zack still didn’t know.”

Even though Zack is busy trying to run the country, figure out who’s behind this Russian plot and avoid assassination, he can’t fight his feelings for Elizabeth anymore. He’s loved her for a few years but circumstances have kept them apart. Zack is more than ready to say to hell with all the circumstances - their time is now.
~~ “Elizabeth Matthews was the magical, mystical unicorn he’d always believed was a fantasy. She was the one.”

Unfortunately, one of Zack’s closest friends believes there’s more to Elizabeth’s motives than just attraction. Could she be a Russian sleeper agent?

Of course that seems preposterous to Zack, but some things just aren’t adding up. So although their chemistry is off the charts, Zack’s lingering doubts cause some discord within this new relationship.

As a side note, there’s also a secondary love story that fits seamlessly into this story. It is one that I’ve been waiting to read for four books. Finally!!!

<><> Characters <><>
Hero: ZacK Hayes
~ Age: late 30’s or 40
~ Occupation: President of the United States

~ Zack’s father was the U.S. Ambassador in Russia and Zack spent seven years with his parents in Moscow. His father had one goal - make Zack President at all costs. His mother was an alcoholic.
Zack’s wife Joy was murdered at a political rally and three days later Zack won the presidential election. Recently there’s been speculation that event happened to make sure Zack won the election.

* The following words/phrases were used to describe Zack: an introvert, quiet, shut down, charismatic, ambitious, cold, detached, too intellectual, elite, generous, was groomed to be president, always fearful of not living up to expectations, alone, empty, a man of integrity, learned early in life how to hide almost everything he was feeling, complex, smart and kind, yet ruthless and focused, genius level IQ, force of nature, circumspect

~ “His whole life, he’d worked to sit behind that desk in the Oval Office. He’d spent every waking moment—and lots of the sleeping ones, too—preparing for his presidency. He’d carefully organized his life, right down to his calculated marriage, so that one day he would be the most powerful man in the free world.”

~~ “If it hadn’t been for Mad, Gabe, Connor, Dax, and Roman, he would have become exactly the man his father had tried to turn him into. He would have been taught that only his name mattered, that the only thing of value he had to give was his legacy. These men, his brothers, had shown him the true meaning of family.”

Heroine: Elizabeth Matthews
~ Age: mid to late 30’s
~ Occupation: White House Press Secretary

~ Liz is a shark as the press secretary. One of her close friends (Joy) married Zack but everyone knew it was just a political match. The true attraction was between Zack and Elizabeth.
With Joy gone, Elizabeth has kept her feelings hidden, but the spark between Zack and Elizabeth is obvious to those close to them.

* The following words/phrases were used to describe Liz: brutally ambitious, lioness, has perfectly manicured claws, determined to make a name for herself, on edge, sweet, caring, strong, loyal, stands her ground, not afraid to say how she feels, the voice of conscience, adored by the press, kind, forgiving

~ “We’re all scared of Liz. She might look cute, but that woman has three rows of teeth and they’re all razor sharp. Trust me. When she finds out—and she will find out because she’s also got eyes in the back of her head—she’ll kick his ass.”

<><> A Few Thoughts <><>

^^ ~ there were two love stories going on but I didn’t mind that. I really needed the second love story and was so happy it was part of this book. I’ve been waiting for this second couple to reunite and reconcile.

^^ ~ I think some will be irritated that Liz forgave Zack so quickly, but I got it. A brush with death would clearly make someone reevaluate the need to stay mad.

^^ ~ Roman - argh!!! He ticked me off

^^ ~ I knew who the mole was in the previous book. No surprise here.

^^ ~ Even though the mole was obvious, there were other players I didn’t suspect. Some good twists were added.

^^ ~ In book one I was curious if Joy was really dead. Did anyone see her body? But honestly the twist with her was not something I suspected

^^ ~ a great conclusion to the series!!

“I am the motherfucking president and she’s just agreed to be your First Lady, so we’re going to celebrate alone for a few minutes. Handle shit, Roman.”.

UPDATED with new info and additional read dates.

WOW!!! Ladies & Perfect Gentlemen, hold onto your britches! The PGs are back for the most PERFECT finale and an EPIC epilogue! Have I mentioned how much I love this series? Also, important audio info below.

He had to take a moment with these men who had formed the foundation of who he was. These men, his brothers, had shown him the true meaning of family.

We pick up where we left off in the last book. Zachary Hayes (39-ish, POTUS) is on his way to Camp David for a weekend with the rest of the PGs when he finds a surprise visitor in the back of his limo. The entire gang is shocked by the resurrection of the spectacular billionaire playboy, Maddox Crawford, well…. everyone except for Gus, because she’s an awesome badass. The girls are all summoned to join them, where Maddox, with the help of Freddy, fill everyone in on what happened from the very beginning.

Now, I can’t really give away all the plot details because you need something to read. There are still more mysteries to solve and some big whoppers. You might have figured it all out by now, but I know I was still surprised by some of it. Have you figured out who Sergei is yet? You won’t be disappointed. There are some laughs, usually involving Freddy, some tears, and a few "WTF did you just do!" moments. Eventually - an HEA for all.

The feeling of rightness stole even deeper into his heart. He wanted – needed – to be connected with this woman. For years, he’d worked with her. During that time, he’d befriended her. He’d also slowly fallen in love with her, too. For him, she as it.

ZACK AND ELIZABETH: This entire time Zack has been pushing Elizabeth Matthews (38-ish, Press Secretary) away to keep her safe, but now he finds out a piece of info that causes him to doubt her (instead of just asking her about it, like a normal person). Despite his doubts, he decides he’s done with not having sex and he’s dead set on making up for lost time. When things come to a head, Zack does and says some shit that pissed me the fuck off. Elizabeth forgives him way too quickly for my satisfaction. That jerk needed to grovel a whole lot longer than he did. In the end – you know they get their HEA.
That was how he felt with Elizabeth. He felt fire and passion and life. He felt the weight of all his responsibilities float away because she wasn’t a responsibility. She was a necessity. She was air in his lungs, blood in his veins.
💕 💕 💕 💕 💕
His life felt as if it had really begun the moment she’d opened her heart to him. He’d had every material comfort a human being could have, but Sara and their child were the most precious gifts he’d ever been given.

MADDOX AND SARA: You will absolutely fall in love with Maddox, if you aren’t already. When he first came back, my heart broke for him with how everyone reacted. I actually shed some damn tears!!! I can’t blame Sara for being angry. When you find out what he said and did to her to keep her safe, you’ll be pissed too. Men are really fucking stupid. I get why he did it, but damn bro. You shouldn’t have said what you did. That was harsh. Anyway – these two obviously get their HEA as well.
"It’s not about failing because we all make mistakes. I made one in not listening and not forgiving you sooner. It’s about doing everything together. Win or lose, Mad, we have to stand together. Always."

SEX: Zack and Liz finally do the deed at the 32% mark. It’s hilarious how eager and unapologetically Zack makes up for lost time. Sadly, Mad and Sara don’t reconnect until the 68% mark and even though it took a while to get there, it’s sweet as heaven. Loved it for them, but that’s the one and only time we get.

FREDDY: Guess who’s back. Back again. Freddy’s back. Tell a friend. Dah dah dah. Dah dah dah. (slim shady) 😎 Anyway….that man is so freaking hilarious. 😂 JUICE BOXES!! I can’t think of a sidekick that’s ever been better.

Though the man actively hunted for Sasquatch and believed that ancient aliens walked the earth, he was incredibly good at cutting through the smokescreens and the everyday BS…

GOODREADS: For whatever stupid reason, GR won’t show my notes/highlights for this book – and there are some freaking good ones!!! I just want you to know how much it pisses me the fuck off.

AUDIO: I demand you listen to the audiobooks. Greg Boudreaux narrates this book and damn he’s sexy. That said, this is the first book where I think the audio changed the way I saw a character. Up until now, all of the accents have been on point. But the southern accent used for Liz makes me think of a short, round, older lady. I cannot wrap my head around the physical description of her in the books vs. the way her voice sounds for the audio. Everyone else’s voices are perfect. For me, the sexy voice of all the PGs is way worth it. Especially Zack’s O voice. Jesus Christ!! 😜

EPILOGUE: Damn, this is a really good epilogue. Even though I wish it had been longer, it still left me with a huge cheesy grin on my face.

“To the perfect Gentlemen. We found our perfect ladies.”

LISTEN TO THIS FUCKING SERIES!

Gah! Parts of this book were a SOLID 5 stars. However, because this book was wrapping things up AND focusing on two couples (Mad & Sara + Zack & Liz) it got bogged down. I barely ever say this, but it either needed to be longer or there needed to be a “Book 4.5” novella where they handled a few things in order to have a “cleaner” Book 5.

Because the authors totally tanked this book with Zack’s (and Roman’s) treatment of Liz and not giving enough time for proper groveling and forgiveness. Because beautiful, strong, smart, steely Liz freakin’ says, “Oh OK, you’re forgiven” after learning that Zack has thought the worst of her for WEEKS and continues to sleep with her. Including, but not limited to thinking she’s committed treason and helped an assassin make an attempt on Zack’s life. AND when the whole situation comes to a head he says some really nasty things to her. This is AFTER she already forgave him for a massive break of trust at the beginning of the book (that started in Book 4). She yells at Roman for all of 3 minutes and immediately agrees to marry Zack. Nope. No. Uh-uh.

Another strike is that the ending is fast paced and kind of a mind bending info dump that also could have used more finesse. It’s like they got tired of writing the story and just threw down a bunch of Russian operatives, plots, and explained that the KGB wouldn’t go after anyone anymore because they discredited one guy. What? The KGB literally spent DECADES and 100’s people and they’re just walking away because #reasons.

The epilogue was adorable, but not enough to forgive the abandonment of Liz’s nature from the entire series.

At The Pleasure of the President is the last book in the "Perfect Gentleman" series and dang I adored this book, it might be one of my favorites of the whole series. Which in hindsight is actually a real relief to be honest because I was so worried because this is a book I have been most looking forward to ever since I read the first book not too long ago. Now I do want to point out this review is going to have spoilers so if you haven't read the previous book especially or don't care for spoiler skip to the bottom of the review because due to certain elements I will have to reveal certain aspects that will spoil it if you don't want any surprises.

At The Pleasure of the President is the final installment and in this book it takes off right after the big reveal in Smoke and Sin. At the ending of Smoke and Sin, Zack Hayes, the President, has a shock of his life, because his number one secret service agent who is his most trusted leads him to his limo and lo and behold a man he thought was dead is very much alive...Maddox. Maddox we saw the funeral for in the first book and throughout the previous books, the group of friends have grieved and mourned him and trying to find who killed him and who is after Zack especially. But then we see that he is alive, faked his death and now has returned to help his friends because they are in trouble. We see two stories lay out Maddox and Sara and their reconnecting and Zack and Liz finally come together and let go of their fears and reservations and face off an enemy who will stop at nothing to destroy them all...

That was Zack, always putting others first, even when his whole world was falling apart. Even when he needed so desperately for himself.

This book was one whirlwind of a read and I had such a blast with this book here, and I just couldn't get enough of this one. I found myself truly stunned at it, and I have to say it might be my favorite. And boy all the ANGST and drama but seriously I am adoring it. Its the type of drama you get a kick out of and it makes sense the drama, you can relate to it or anyone can that has been in a romantic relationship and has suffered pain or grief. So first off we have two romance plot lines. One with Maddox and one with Zack and their lovely counterparts. So lets cover Maddox first. Maddox and Sara fell in love very quickly, it started out as a fling but turned into something deeper and it happened fast. And right when Maddox was going to propose and Sara found herself pregnant, Maddox's life was threatened and to protect Sara he broke it off with her and faked his death. And for months he has been tortured knowing the pain he has brought to Sara. But now he is back to fight for his brotherhood, and the woman he loves and his unborn daughter. But it will take lots of groveling and work to gain Sara's trust. I will say I adored this story line. I love these whole groveling scenarios especially when you can see both sides of the pairing. I see why Maddox did it and I can see why Sara is so hurt and angry at the same time. But these authors really handled their story so delicately and really impressed me seeing them find their way back to each other again.

“I’ll never leave you again.” He turned and cupped her face. “I promise. No matter what happens now, I will put you first, even above my friends. You and Maddie are my whole world now, and there is nothing I want more than to take you to bed.”

Now as for Zack and Liz's story, theirs is much more complicated as is their history. They have been wanting to be together for years. Right before Zack's late wife was killed, and a divorce was in the works, Zack knew he had found his soulmate and it was in Liz. She was everything he never thought he needed but hoped for. But then his wife was killed and then he found out about the Russian plot and couldn't risk anyone knowing of the depth of his feelings for Liz or it would put her at risk. But now Liz is fighting back and his enemies know more about them and Zack is going to fight for his woman but right when their relationship is getting going with power and passion .....evidence comes to light that Liz might be a spy and now Zack is divided on his loyalties. I found this line to be the one I was gravitating towards the most. And man I just knew how this would end and Zack and Roman deserved every bit of backlash. Liz is such a relatable character in many ways. She has such strength but also is soft and kind and feminine too. And Zack ...whew....I suspected it but he is one alpha especially in the bedroom. Just gives you the shivers thinking about his vibe that he displays in this story.

He sent her a feral smile and sauntered closer, pure need coursing through his veins as he tore off that strangling mental leash that had held him back for so long and reached for her.

Quite frankly I couldn't get enough of this finale and didn't want to put it down but at the same time I NEVER wanted it to end because that meant that it would be the end with these perfect gentlemen and their wonderful spirited ladies. And I love how this was a political book but it wasn't political. LOL I know that is confusing but it showed the complex portrayal of politics without sending political messages in the book and I LOVED that. I have noticed that romance has been very political leaning of late, and this wasn't at all. It showed what politicians have to go through day to day especially the solid good ones and the sacrifices they do. I really appreciated seeing these authors handle this so well and with such balance. Which is very difficult to do I am sure especially with two authors and TWO romance plot lines.

Life was as easy or as hard as she chose to make it.

Overall I found AT The Pleasure of the President to be a epic finale that brings together friendship and family bonds, with a complex thrilling plot packed with suspense and political intrigue and secrets abound...a story that will captivate the reader and addict you in ways you can't imagine....STUNNING IN ITS PORTRAYAL!

Goodness me, I’ve been waiting on pins and needles for the final installment of the fantastic The Perfect Gentlemen series—dying to read about Zack and Elizabeth—and At the Pleasure of the President did notdisappoint.

There are so many pieces of the story, so many layers to peel. Zack and Elizabeth have been circling around each other since the presidential campaign. They’ve never acted on their feelings until now. Until they can no longer be denied and until all their lives are at risk.

But at the heart of and At the Pleasure of the President is the romance that’s finally happening between them. Their feelings for each other are immense, overwhelming. And the sexy times are smokin’ hot. But while their hearts are all in, there’s the whole conspiracy theory/potential assassination thing that keeps their heads not quite even—especially Zack’s.

I loved catching up with all the Gentlemen and seeing them rally together. To put their minds together to come up with a solution—to work things out. And to make sure Zack and Elizabeth got together in the end. And speaking of the end, the Epilogue was fantastic. ~ Missy, 5 stars

5 Star review of At The Pleasure of the President (The Perfect Gentlemen #5) by Shayla Black and Lexi Blake
Although this can be read as a stand-alone, I would recommend you read the first four books. It will give you a better understanding and background to what is happening as there is a continuing story line throughout the books.
This is a hard review to write as I do not want to give away any spoilers. I love an alpha male, add in a feisty heroine and I am there. The action is fast paced, I was on the edge of my seat and I read this book in almost one read. I just didn’t want to put it down; I had to know what happened! The suspense, drama, plot twists and turns had me totally enthralled and I found myself reading well in to the early hours of the morning.
This is President Zack Hayes and Elizabeth (Liz) Matthews story and it was captivating to say the least. All of the Perfect Gentleman and their women come together to support Zack as they fight an enemy that is not only trying to destroy Zack but the very foundation of their country.
The chemistry between Zack and Liz is electrifying and intense. Danger lurks around every corner as Zack and his fellow members of the Perfect Gentlemen Club continue their investigations till it reaches it’s explosive conclusion. Will Zack be able to make a choice between the woman he loves and the country that is his heart and soul?
The continuity between the authors was seamless. I have no idea who wrote which part and honestly, it doesn’t matter; it was brilliant from start to finish. Superbly written, an outstanding read. Superbly written, an outstanding read.
A fitting conclusion to one of my favourite romantic suspense series EVER.

This book wrapped up the series with the adults’ stories and opens up a whole new space for a series about the Perfect Gentlemen’s children.
You have lots of action, murder (the body count is quite high), some funny scenes with Mad and crazy Uncle Freddy and some serious love making scenes. I enjoyed it very much.

Un peu déçue par cette fin. Très fourre tout et expéditive.

Mais dans l'ensemble dans la lignée des autres. Une série assez classique mais qui m'a bien plu. Dommage que la traduction française se soit arrêtée au tome 3

At the Pleasure of the President
4 Stars

The conspiracy plot comes to a head as President Zack Hayes must confront the ghosts of his past and determine whether he can trust the only woman he has ever loved.

This final installment in the series provides a satisfying ending to the engrossing mystery plot that has been developing from the first book, and the last few chapters are intense and exciting with some final surprising twists and turns.

Nevertheless, similar to the romances of the other Perfect Gentlemen, Zack and Liz's relationship is undermined by his questionable treatment of her. Despite their excellent chemistry, Zack's behavior leaves much to be desired and Liz is far too forgiving.

The secondary romance between is very sweet and he more than makes up for his cruel actions. Of all the heroes in the series, he works the hardest to get back into her good graces and he definitely gives the best grovel :)

Overall, this is series is well worth the read for the brilliant plot, and even though the heroes are a pack of alpha jerks at times, the HEAs are very entertaining.

Ridiculous and disappointing

I loved the first four books and so badly wanted to like this last one, but I was so disappointed. I wish it had just focused on Mad and Sara because somehow that was more believable that the entire storyline for Zach and Liz. It felt like the authors had literally no idea how government works, and even knowing its fiction, everything about the Russians was so absurd I couldn’t enjoy the characters at all. It ruined any and all good will the fourth book had created, and I found the idea of Liz forgiving either Zach or Roman simply embarrassing. Also, the contestant referring to partners as our men/our women seemed so dated and just odd? I really hope this book was just a hiccup and the authors next project will be back to what we’ve loved from them, fun and engaging.

What a disappointment

This book was a long time coming. I had such high hopes. Alas, my slog continues.

The first 3rd of the book was pretty much a rehash of the previous releases in this series. While each of those was kinda standalone, there was a continuing mystery. For those of us who had been there since the beginning, thiere was very little new information. The section was drawn out and boring. What was new provided enough information to figure out who the bad guys were and made the rest of the story just as tedious as the first part. I finally skipped ahead to the last chapter and - surprise! It all turned out just as I had thought it would. The epilogue was enjoyable. At least there was some flash of personality demonstrated by the characters.

All in all, not a book I can recommend.

This is the book that we have all been waiting for. This is the final book in the Perfect Gentlemen series and boy was it worth the wait. Without revealing any secrets, all of our questions were answered. There are many bumps in the road as the story progresses. Lies, betrayals, double agents, spies, attempted assassinations and romance, all come into play as the Gentlemen try to solve the mystery that was planned long before they were born. I really enjoyed this book. Shayla Black and Lexi Blake once again wrote an outstanding story. Bravo ladies.

Roman Calder is an asshole!

I never liked his character one bit and he became more annoying in this book.

Wow! I enjoyed this book - a final culmination and conclusion of the series! All the mysteries from the first book was well resolved in this one. The authors did great!

"Heiß, edgy und dazu ein Schuss Gefahr ... Perfekt!" J. KENNER

FINAL DECISION: Entirely satisfying conclusion of this series with plenty of appearances by everyone important in the series. Wraps up everything nicely including all the romances you expect and need.

THE STORY: This book picks up immediately after the conclusion of SMOKE AND SIN. The dangers are surrounding the Perfect Gentlemen and their women as the conspiracy around the President Zach Hayes becomes more open. Zach is also torn as the woman he has wanted for years, his Press Secretary Elizabeth Matthews. Liz has been operating as Zach's de facto First Lady after the murder of his wife on the eve of the election. Just when it seemed like Zach and Liz might give in to the passion between them, Zach has taken steps to protect Liz from those who threaten him. And now it seems like Liz might be involved in the conspiracy against Zach and the United States. Yet Zach can't stop wanting Liz.

OPINION: This review is difficult to write. Not because this is not a wonderful book -- it is -- but because almost everything about it could be a spoiler. The fifth and final book in the Perfect Gentlemen series finally exposes everything that has been going on. Therefore, almost everything about it gives away plot lines.

The best thing about this book is that it answers all the questions. After it was done, I felt that I finally understood the entirely of the events of the series. The only negative of the book is that the construction of it means that you have to have read the prior books in the series to enjoy this one. AT THE PLEASURE OF THE PRESIDENT is packed full and it could be overwhelming for someone who isn't familiar with the characters, events and plots of what has been happening in the series. The positive is that it richly rewards those who have read the series with a satisfying conclusion.

There is a lot in this book and yes -- what you want and expect will be included (even if I don't want to give anything away here).

Zach and Liz have been circling around one another throughout the series. Zach was born and bred to be president and thus has by circumstances lived a more restrained life than his "brothers in arms". What I really enjoyed in this book is that Zach begins to break through his lifetime of restraint and really reach out for what he wants in this book. Liz breaks through all his discipline and he can't be the intellectual and objective person that has been working to fulfill his ambitions. She kinda breaks him in important ways. I loved that Liz, who has been on the side for much of the series, refuses to be sidelined any longer. She insists on being in the forefront along with the other women of the series.

The plot of this book is big and crazy and so much fun. I especially loved that we get to see all the Perfect Gentlemen and their ladies together. This series really has energy when the characters interact. The relationships -- both romantic and essentially a family built of friendship are essential here and really make this series worth reading.

This felt like this book was written for the fans because just about everyone and everything I could have wanted was included. I loved this book and really didn't want it or the series to end, but now I am satisfied that everything ended on a high note.

WORTH MENTIONING: Epilogue my friends!

CONNECTED BOOKS: AT THE PLEASURE OF THE PRESIDENT is the fifth and final book in the Perfect Gentlemen series. This series must be read in order and it is necessary to read the prior books in the series to enjoy this book.

STAR RATING: I give this book 5 stars.

NOTE: I received an ARC of this book from the author. I was not required to write a review or to write a positive review. All opinions contained herein are my own.

At The Pleasure Of The President is the 5th and final book to The Perfect Gentlemen series and what a damn good ending it was. When I got word that book five was to be released, I immediately pre-ordered this bad boy. I knew for sure these two incredible authors would not disappoint and did they? NOPE!
Book five was a long time coming and the wait was torture but it was so worth it. Shayla and Lexi delivered such a compelling story and finished this series off perfectly. The cherry on top of the cake. I spent 95% of the book on the edge of my seat, flipping page by page wanting answers, wanting to know each and every detail that I had and was obsessing over since book four and I finally got those answers!

Book five focuses on Zack and Liz and their intense, all-consuming story.

President Zack is alpha, has always been the smarter and level headed of his group of friends, he always managed to keep himself in control, even when his friends did not. He was busy mapping his future carefully and he always had his eyes on the ultimate prize. Anyone who knows me, knows I am a sucker for a powerful controlling alpha and Zack was just that, and more! My perfect fantasy.

Liz worked with Zack as his press secretary, she worked hard at her job, and knew the moment she met Zack that he was something special, like no other male she had met before. She admired him from afar, and over the years they grew closer and closer. They became friends that relied on each other, that came to each other in time of need, but that all came crashing down around Liz and Zack started to push her away and her world came to a standstill. The bond they shared becoming non-existent, and Zack turned away from her. So everything she thought was between the two of them came apart around her.

I'm trying to think of how I can review this storyline without giving anything away, and honestly? I don't think I can. All I can say is everything I thought I had pieced together in the previous books, everything I thought I knew... I had gotten wrong, I was almost certain of some things, only to find out that I wasn't even close to the answers I had in my own head. So much happened in this book, so much came to light, so many questions were answered. Things became clearer in this installment, yet they didn't... It was almost confusing but in the best way possible. I had high hopes coming into this book and the authors did not disappoint. It is bittersweet really. This was an end to an incredible series of books, amazing characters, and a plot that continued to throw me through twists and turns and consumed me completely right from the very start.

Although this book can be read as a standalone, I highly recommend it's read from book one to get a better feel of the characters, and their back story, and to get some understanding on this plot.

5 amazing stars!

From jaw dropping suspense, to the hottest of passion, to a conspiracy that puts readers on the edge of their seats, Shayla Black and Lexi Blake deliver an epic conclusion to the Perfect Gentlemen Series with At the Pleasure of the President.

Zachary Hayes truly has the weight of the free world on his shoulders. Being President has it advantages and its disadvantages. For having the kind of power that he does, the one thing his heart desires is standing within an arms grasp and he can’t have her. Even though Zach is the President, he’s still a man. Hard headed and stubborn, with so much intensity and being as sexy as he is makes it hard for a woman to not go crazy. Zach’s heart is huge and he believes his Intentions are best but being who he is, in the predicament that he’s in, he allows birds of a feather to influence what the sensible decisions should really be. Zach is as smooth as the scotch he likes to indulge in. He knows how to get what he what and go for it. Even if he has to go a roundabout way to get it. There were so many moments that I felt so much for Zack and then I wanted to shake the crap out of him because he couldn’t seem to get his head and his heart together. In the end he made the right choice.

Elizabeth is a southern spit fire of a woman. Beauty and grace, yet she can stomp down anyone with charm and style. A woman who has stepped up beyond her job title, put her heart to the side, then on the line. Politic she can handle, the craziness that Zach’s life has thrown at her is making Liz’s head spin. Elizabeth made her mark from the moment she hit the page in the very first book of the Perfect Gentleman Series. She takes no crap, is not afraid to speak her mind and is just fun. I love the fact that she gives all these high-powered man a run for their money. Liz is a true sister in every sense of the word.

What an amazing book! At the Pleasure of the President answers all the lingering questions I had from the previous books in the series and gives not just one but two HEAs. The story is utterly twisted and wonderfully unique. The Perfect Gentleman Series is truly some amazing and creative writing. The series was able to captivate, entertain and make you think. Each book is a piece of a giant puzzle that you don’t even realize how invested you have become until you were reading the final chapters of the last book. The biggest props I can give to both Shayla and Lexi for creating a story so intricate and evolving while giving romance readers what they want in their reads. At the Pleasure of the President is not only a great book, it's a highly intricate piece of art.

The Perfect Gentleman Series is one of the most intricate, captivating and intense plots I’ve every had the enjoyment of getting caught up in.

Buen serie, buena trama, buen suspense y romance. Es realmente abismal la direfencia en la calidad de una historia, cuando de verdad quisiste contarla, y no solo aprovechar un tirón comercial. Gracias Shayla Black!!!!!!!
