Can a dominant, damaged alien possibly fix the human whose mind got shattered?

Sage:
I find out their secret, so I am stripped naked and thrown in a cell with a gigantic alien who is too damaged to speak. He defiles me repeatedly, body and mind, while we are both put through experiments. Nothing is what it seems, and eventually I no longer know what is real and what is not. I don't even know who I am anymore.

Algers:
I was crazed and broken when they forced me to pair bond with a human. Now she carries my child. I am the rightful ruler of this besieged planet. If the humans knew who I was, Alaxia would fall to them. I will leave this place, take my human plaything with me, and wage war on those who would dare imprison me. But will it be too late for Sage?

Publisher’s Note: Even though this is book two in the Unbreakable series, it can be read and enjoyed as a standalone. This is an extremely dark romance with graphic scenes, mind control and other dark elements. It is meant for mature audiences. The heroine's character is intentionally inconsistent. If alpha aliens in a post-apocalyptic world with total power exchange offend you, please do not purchase.

Aria Adams

Aria is an author of dark erotic romance. Her heroes are not always immediately obvious, and neither are the villains. Her books often have elements of horror, and the characters at the end of a story are forever changed by the events that befell them. But she always makes sure there's a happy ending, even if the characters have to work for it.

Aria also writes the warm fuzzy romance stuff as Katie Douglas.

Dark Dystopian Future

“Defiled” is a well written, original, fast paced, darkly erotic, sci-fi romance featuring; chills, thrills and … cringe worthy trepidation. The ultimate evil corporation, grossly unethical and inhumane experimentation, a caste social order as well as the utilization of artificial reality as a form of control, combine to create a totally mind-bending story-line. Both the human heroine and alien hero are subjected to hideously inhumane treatment as well as a forced, lifelong pair bonding. Initially, the act of mating for the couple is unbelievably repulsive and deadly for the heroine, due to vile anatomical changes perpetrated on the hero by the evil corporation. As the coerced and gruesome mating takes place, the heroine is further exposed to horrific experiences, by the corporation, using artificial reality technology. Throughout the story, the heroine has difficulty separating reality from artificially induced horrific events, keeping the reader guessing as well as providing the narrative with a “Nightmare on Elm Street” dream vs reality effect. Although a very dark, disturbing read with a multitude of obstacles to overcome “Defiled” also manages to deliver hope, love and eroticism within a D/s relationship.

DISORDER WAS CALAMITY—OBEDIENCE WAS PROSPERITY

Warning, if you can’t handle extremely dark erotic horror, depraved, graphic scenes, ones that include gory details, is non-consensual, including rape and death, don’t read. This is NOT a sweet romance as most people want to see, it is a male alien captive and a female human captive placed together by Grande Pharma. They are both prisoners, and there is no trust—and one has greater control over the other. The story is a dystopian world, control by elitist.

The saga continues with one of the lab technicians, Sage Ash, when she overhears a conversation that takes place in a hallway where there is a discussion about rats. Having a fascination with animals, she will go into a secure area and discover the rats are humans undergoing torture. No one goes in Grande Pharma in private, and she will be the next test subject, placed with Alaxian, Algers.

The plot will include the technicians placing Sage in virtual reality simulation and where she will be attacked, and even die at one point. She will become so unstable that she doesn’t know what is real and what is VR. While she thinks Algers is intent on killing her, that isn’t so, but from what all she has endured she doesn’t know who or what to trust—and now she is having memories—but surely they aren’t true, or are they?

“Keeping up with her changes of mood was proving difficult. Grande Pharma had shattered her mind and occasionally, a sliver of a compete person would emerge, but for the most part, she was a caricature of what I imagined her former self had been like.”

Will Algers and Sage escape the Stack and will he be able to return to his people? How is Sage able to use her mind to destroy human enemies? Has she gone from the frying pan into the fire?

“I used to be a lot less lonely when I hadn’t known how many people I’d been taken away from. Ignorance—wasn’t really bliss, though. It was emptiness. Dull and vacuous days filled with repetition.”

The story includes graphic and explicit scenes, including non-consent, rape, mind-control, violent VR scenes, physical violence, with an extremely dark romance eventually. The story does end on a happier note and is the first in a series. There will be a third book, and within the epilogue of this story, it gives the reader an idea who will be next from the Stack.

Defiled is the second book in the Unbreakable series. Sage works for Grande Pharma, but when she discovers one of their major secrets, she becomes an experiment herself. Sage is thrust into a new world where half is reality, half is VR, and half is suppressed memories. When you don’t know what’s real anymore, who to trust, and when up is down, how can Sage survive and how does the alien fit into her life?

Holy Darkness, Batman! This book in intense. It’s not for the faint of heart, this is not a sweet romance, and my heart and my mind both hurt reading this book. But holy smokes, it was SO GOOD!! Sage and Algers were incredible and this was a shocking journey. Sage, that girl, my heart just broke for her. Not being able to realize what was real, what was from the VR, what memories were true... I honestly can’t even imagine what that would do to someone. I loved that her brain processed things the way it needed to, I loved that Algers kept her as safe as he could, and I loved that while they didn’t want their connection initially, they were wonderful together. Algers is the Prince, but he’s just as active in fighting for survival as any other military member. I loved that he had to face some difficult situations, I loved that he didn’t always know what was best for Sage, but I loved that through everything they went through, he still gained her trust. What a follow up to the first book in the series, with lots of twists and turns and events that I was not expecting and didn’t know I’d love as much as I did. I’ll say it again, this book was dark and intense, but I seriously loved every second I spent reading it!

DNF.

I THINK THIS AUTHOR'S WRITING STYLE JUST ISN'T FOR ME.
I tried to give this series another chance but sadly, I'm just not feeling it. The characters felt superficial and the sex is bordering on platonic violence.

The blurb as usual sounds magnificent, but the execution leaves little to be desired. I don't connect with the characters, there's no 'relationship' building that makes you 'sigh' or FEEL anything for the characters.

This second book in the series Unbreakable is very dark. The story is set in a dystopian post apocalyptic world in the future. Alaxia, a desert planet, was invaded by the human race and the Alaxian people are being systematically wiped out by the ruling humans through a Company called Grand Pharma. There is a very regimented ruling class among the humans and they all live and work in 'the Stack' which is an impossibly huge edifice with hundreds of levels with the ruling echelons at the top and the lower classes living and working in the levels below. As the levels descend the conditions deteriorate and the at the lowest levels the people are sick and have terrible mutations and disease. Grand Pharma rule by intimidation and constant surveillance rather like a future Big Brother. This is the story of Sage a young lab technician who finds herself caught up in Grand Pharma's machinations when she 'accidentally' discovers what her employers are doing to their 'test subjects' and Algers a captured Allaxian prisoner. Algers was captured by the Grand Pharma but what they do not know is that he is in fact the Prince of Alaxia. This is a difficult read, there is graphic violence and mind control and forced and very rough sexual activity not necessarily consensual, not sure how anyone could withstand the abuse heaped upon both main characters especially Sage but the Alaxians are fighting for their very survival. This was a tough but compelling read and I eagerly await No 3 in the series.

First off, if you have sexual assault triggers, this book will be pretty hard to read. It is dark and with scenes of non-consent. Beyond that, the storyline was an interesting concept. I had not read book one but this was pretty much a standalone. Reading book one might help, if nothing else, just being introduced to what Grande Pharma is. The couple from book one does not play a part in this story until the end.

Sage and Algers were taken through a mind tripping experience of reality, virtual reality, mind control, and behavior controlling drugs. Many times, Sage had trouble determining what was real and what was not. She wasn't the only one. I often had trouble figuring it out, too. Instead of being frustrated at that it made the reading experience better for me because I could relate to Sage and what she was going through. At times, this was difficult to read. The torture Sage was put through was unimaginable. At times, she wanted to give up (and I don't blame her) but, for the most part, she was a fighter.

I like dark stories but there are only certain sci-fi one I enjoy. This was a little different for me but I liked it. I want to go back and read book one, as well as read book three. I can’t wait to see what happens with Director Harrow.

Whoa. Dark read indeed! If you have triggers, stay away from this book! Our poor heroine ends up seeing something she is not supposed to see, and her world crashes.

This is set in a future time, on a planet that is not Earth. It is a colony, and humans all live in a large "hive" that houses everyone. None of them go outside. None of them leave their "level" of classification. Lower level people being less and less educated, and more and more poor. Sage lives fairly close to the top, and stays there. She does not buck the system. She is a good girl.

She gets put into a locked room with Algers. An overly large purple alien. He can't speak. He is savage in his mauling of her. Sage is sucked down the rabbit hole, so to speak.

I don't want to give away the twists. They are good. Suffice it to say, poor Sage is mentally abused as well as physically. She comes to the point where she can't tell real world from virtual reality. She mentally is drained to the point of catatonia. Yeah... Dark indeed.

Damn fine reading. Erotic. Good story. Different. Not the usual stuff here. Be prepared to leave your morals at the door. Bad bad things happen to our poor heroine. Torture and Non-Con being the least of it. Repeatedly. But I couldn't put it down! I was up until 5 am reading. Crazy good.

I did not read book one of this series. I don't feel I missed out on anything vital to the story. This one is written well enough as a stand alone.

I thoroughly enjoyed reading this magnificent, deliciously dark & twisted futuristic post apocalyptic alien Sci-fi romance but please be advised that this book is not for the faint-hearted. The plot is excellent with unexpected, devious events & extremely dark elements. It definitely grabs the reader’s attention. The unique characters are complex with well-developed personalities & display some deviousness combined with determination to achieve their goals & react with realistic emotional feeling to the situation they find themselves in.
There is: a young female who sees something she should not have seen (Sage), an captured & drugged Alaxian alien, a company running unethical experiments (Grand Pharma), a devious mind control program, twists & turns, intrigue, suspense, danger, evil, enemies, violence, mind control, torture, abuse, experimental atrocities, drugs, forced non-consensual intimacy, terror, defiance, punishment, spanking, BDSM, reality, false memories, strange abilities, attacks, retaliation, explosions, deaths, plans, mates, acceptance, contentment, consensual intimacy & a tantalizing glimpse of a future book.
I really would recommend this futuristic post apocalyptic alien Sci-fi romance to people who enjoy reading this genre. I sincerely doubt that you would be disappointed in this book.

Possibly better than the first
by HilZie

This really is a great series. I enjoyed the first book. I enjoyed how well the author was able to weave together so many different plots within one story *possible spoiler* - the strife between the Alaxians and humans, the story between Algers and Sage, the psychological warfare between Grande Pharma and Sage (that poor girl), and the internal battle going on in Sage's head. There's a fine line between cluttering up a storyline and writing a great book, and the author is able to find that line. Yes, there were times when I was confused along with Sage as to what was going on (was it really Algers or was it not? If not, who was it) For more than half book, I felt just as confused as poor Sage about her state of mind until she gets out of the Stack and once that happened the story starts to clear up and more duplicity of Grande Pharma is revealed
**Another spoiler** Expect some friends from the first book to drop by. I really hope the third book sticks it to the "Man" which in this case is the Controller. Recommend this book and series

This was at times a rather difficult book to read. While I found concept of the storyline itself was quite interesting the waffling between the VR torture, yes torture, and the reality of the characters situation did make it hard to tell whether something was really happening or Virtual Reality. As such the storyline was quite graphic and I hesitate to call it a dark romance because much of that is actually part of a sick mind control VR program that serves only to hurt, degrade and destroy the person it is inflicted on. It brings to mind something I read awhile back that in essence said those that deny the atrocities of the past are destined to repeat them in the future. I'm not really sure how I feel about this story but I guess it makes me hope that people don't go down this path of destruction. Unfortunately in some respects they have. When people start believing they are better than others and stop caring about their fellow man they lose the very part of them that makes them human and then they start justifying all sorts of terrible atrocities.

OK, first if you remember the first book, “Invaded,” you know about the evil {blank} Director Harlow. She is at it again and she still has no soul or concern for anyone. Sage is her next victim. Sage is a lab tech who thought she knew what Grande Pharma was doing. She was in for a surprise. Algers is in a prison just like Sage. They are both being experimented on. His was cruel, barbs and healing but at what cost. At times you feel like what is the fate of the world if “this” was to ever come about. If we were to allow a company like this to use us as lab rats and to annihilate another living being are we right? Food for thought.

The brain washing that they inflicted on Sage was heart breaking. She was so confused about what was really and not. Even that little bit of what she knew was real was taken from her. Then they tempted her with death. I have to say that I was scared for her fate and sanity. I was surprised that she was able to get through all that. Grande Pharma and the Director are pure evil. Now a war has started. I was glad to see Aspen and Keth again. I look forward to the next book in the series. I hope it has Kirie.

Sage is a human and a lab tech. Algers is an alien and is enduring experiments of his body and mind. When Sage discovers things that are happening at Grand Pharma, she is thrown in with Algers who is not in his right mind. Sage endures a lot at the will of Grande Pharma and Algers but during her sexual abuse at his hands, she becomes pregnant. Algers sees a chance at escape and takes Sage, who he pair bonded, with him. There was a lot of horrible things the pair go through and a lot of Virtual Reality that Sage is put through, that had me confused quite a few times, I am still not sure what actually happened sometimes and what was real. Algers is the true ruler of Alaxia, but Director Harrow and Grande Pharma didn't know that about him, they will be sorry once Algers gets back to his people and with Sage's help, they get revenge for the inhumane tests they put humans and aliens through. There was also some kinky and painfull sex, along with the VR, I wasn't sure all of it was real. I am looking forward to the next book, Unbreakable book 3 and to see what Grande Pharma has in store for Director Harrow, Sage and Algers and their baby.

Oh wow. I mean, just... Wow. This is the second book in this series, and it is so much more intense than the first one, and I thought that it was pretty intense.

So, Sage the Scientist finds out that the PTB at Grande Pharma are up to no good, very bad things. They decide to take her and toss her in to be experimented on.

Algers is a native Alaxian who has been captured and experimented on by humans. Now they've tossed a little human woman into his cell and he's only operating on instinct.

So, there is a lot of serious mind frakery going on in here. I mean, some serious screwing with everything. Algers and Sage are both victims here, even though Algers doesn't necessarily come off as a victim. He's very dominant and Sage is very not. Of course, the controllers at the Stack have gone out of their way to make sure that humans aren't all that dominant. It's harder to control them if they aren't submissive.

I loved this book, and cried through parts of it. I can't wait until the third book so that I can see what happens next.

I'm torn how to rate this book, for one it was a "VERY DARK ROMANCE" much darker than I prefer and it's heavy with BDSM. While working for the Grande Pharma company, Sage overhears Dr. Harker talk about "the rats" and goes to check them out. She finds that "the rats" are humans and when the company finds out she knows, they throw her into the test project where she's drugged, debased, hurt and tortured by the VD program. She's then thrown into a cell with Algers who also was experimented on and drugged to mate. Algers, a Alaxian, is a Prince and his race are very dominate males through out this book. Can they find the way to work together to escape the clutches of Grande Pharma? This was a well written book that despite it's darkness kept me entertained to the final page in this Sci-fi romance as Sage is thrust between the VD program and reality in this book. I volunteer to read and review this ARC.

Dark romance
You have to heed the warning. This really is a dark romance with graphic content but the end is a HEA.

This works as a stand-alone, but if you have not read the first book then I would recommend you start there, and then grab this.
This is the second in the series and this is a page turner that keeps you hooked and when finished you want to know what happens next.

Small Spoiler
An unsuspecting lab assistant sees more than she should have and then finds herself on the wrong side of the “glass” and is part of the experiment placed with a dark crazed dominant alien
Betrayed by everything she knows, in fear for her life, body, sanity it is hard to see how she will live, never mind survive

This is the second book in the series. Be warned!!! It is even darker than the first. You do not need to have read Invaded to understand this book, but it is helpful!

Algers has been captured and is being given drugs to suppress his conscious mind. Sage worked for Grande Pharma and has been taken and given to Algers as a plaything to use and abuse. They don't realize how broken Algers is and when he defiles and breaks Sage, he is not aware that he pair bonds with her and then she becomes pregnant with his child. Unfortunately, Sage is very broken as well and she skips between reality and her mind's version of reality.

There is a lot that Sage and Algers has to overcome, but there is a HEA for now at the end. I loved the book so much that I bought it, even though I had originally received it as an ARC. I am looking forward to the next book!

Most dark books tend to bring the heroine right to a bad point before the hero sails in and saves the day. This isn't one of those book. The author takes the heroine into truly dark places, both through VR and actual reality before bringer her out the other side. Although it makes it a little hard to read sometimes, I do like that the author has the courage to let the story go that dark.

The story itself is good. The author began creating this world in the first book and the world building continues in this second book. We find out a little more about the different societies and a little more about the history of the planet. The book has a nice ending, everything gets temporarily settled while still foreshadowing enough to leave me looking forward to the next book.

The 2nd book is a dark, dark, crazy painfully gritty world experienced by yet another human & alien couple.
Sage is a lab tech that gets tossed into an experiment. Algiers is a captured Alaskan native, tortured and experimented on and sexually deprived. His true identity is a secret he keeps close. Like the first book, the human female gets thrown in with the alien male, completely at the mercy of both the alien and the scientists. They mean to break her and remake her, using Algers as their tool.
The story unfolds layers upon layers of lies Sage's life is based on.

The story of the Alaxians and humans working & fighting together for a future is what's really getting into the series.
Personally, I really could do without the sexual torture explicitly told in this book. It's more disturbing than book 1...actually book 1 feels tamer in comparison. [[SHUDDER]]

Defiled by Aria Adams is book two in the Unbreakable series and my second story by Ms. Adams. When I one-clicked on a copy, I assumed that it would be dark given the title and summary and she did not disappoint. So. Wow! Fair warning. This story has some seriously dark elements mixed in with some great dystopian science fiction. If this is your cup of tea and you enjoyed story 1, then snatch this baby up fast because the darkness and erotica are scintillating. Not so fair warning, but one nonetheless, Ms. Adams will make your head spin as you, much like like Sage, will have difficulty telling the difference between reality and VR and that makes the story that much better. Storytelling at its darkest that makes the light at the end shine that much brighter.

The humans have decimated most of the alien planet of Alaxia as well as killed off most of its people. Even their own humans are not safe from the horrors of genetic experimentation, brain washing and the use of virtual machines to torture and violently rape their helpless victims in mind and body. Sage overheard something she should not have, and as punishment she was thrown in with a dominant Alaxian prisoner who sexually rapes her and ends up pair bonding with her. Yes there is a lot of violence and dominant/submissive behavior in this story so please be aware. Harsh stuff but I liked reading this book!

Wow this was one very intense read!! Brutal, manipulative, confusing, compelling and totally riveting!!
Sage lives a very simple life until she sees something she shouldnt - after that reality becomes more than a little bit distored in a dark and harsh way!! Will she be able to figure out what is real and what is fiction!!
This book keeps you on the edge of your seat with a death grip on reality!!!
Be warned there is non-con in this story and it is very dark but still really great read!!

Dark, suspenseful and a big mind trip, this book will seriously keep you on edge as the story unfolds. There is a lot going on here, so expect drama, intensity, twists and heat. This book (and series) does contain content that will not appeal to every reader. So be sure to do your research before buying. I found the characters compelling and complex, the plot captured and held my interest and the world well developed. A good book in a good series, that I hope to see more from. This book by Aria Adams was definitely on the dark dark side and very twisted with the perverted sexual actions. One of the amazing things about the writing was that the author made it difficult for the reader to tell what actually happening in real life as opposed to virtual reality. There was also a developing romance between the two main characters, Sage and Algers, as well as a happy for now kind of ending. Ok.... Let me say it "I am falling in love with you Aria Adams." Now that's out the way I stumbled on the first book Invaded, for free read it, liked it. So I purchased Defiled and yes I love this book finally someone with an imagination as dark, twisted, and gloriously lovable as mine can be. If your not a fan of reading about unconsential sex and torture this ain't the book for you. Also the fact that this book has a HEA I absolutely love. Who knew one could grow to love aliens. Keep writing and I will keep reading.

I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book.  Second in the series, this book is as good as the first.  A scary world that I'm glad I don't live in.  A world where cruelty is rampant and love is scarce.  Where your mind can be taken and twisted and any love you find should be held tight.   Punishment and sex are harsh and painful to Sage once she is thrust into Alters room.  Can she survive the assault to her mind?

This is a great read for those who love sci-fy, added sex, spankings, cannabalism, and torture. This is the story of Algers, an Alaxian, and Sage, a human, their trials and tribulations, trying to survive physically and mentally. Two very different creatures, attempting to overcome, the brutal obstacles in their path of succeeding. Well written and had a HEA. I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book.

This is book two in the series - It can be read as a standalone but WHY would you want to?
(IMO) The scenes have more weight to them if you have read the first in series and acquired a bit of background - also I felt it increased the darker aspects to the secondary characters making for a greater emotional connection for me
Talk about messing with someone's mind - my heart broke for Sage - What they did and tried to do to her - Even I had trouble at times differentiating between what was real and what was VR and the prejudices and resulting behaviors (by both sides) 😡!
Algers - not sure if I like him or not 😕 I think he could have been a bit more patient? understanding? Not sure if he redeemed himself in the end
I do want the next in series NOW! This is a deliciously addicting sci-fi series
This does contain dark and dubious subject matter

What an unf*@%believable mindf*@%!! Ms. Aria takes the reader on one wild Alaxian ride!! What’s real? What isn’t? Sage doesn’t know. As the reader, I thought I knew... but was I right. In the meantime, Ms. Adams has created quite the dystopian world: evil scientists, huge alien men, mosquito tech.... And then because it’s Ms. Adams, she delivered scorching HOT Alien-human sexy scenes. This is a must read!!

This is a very dark book so if you struggle with triggers around sexual assault please take a pass on this book! If you are able to read this book though you shall be in for a very disturbing read but one that you feel compelled to continue reading. Both the alien and the human main characters face and endure horrific torture. This is definitely a grim view of the future. Whoa.
Im not really sure what to say.
This was most certainly a dark romance.
There were moments, like while watching a movie, where I wanted to look away but I couldnt. It was impossible to stop reading.
A mixture of dark and tragic. Hot and sweet.
I know I am looking forward to book 3.
Happy reading!
