ARC Shifters #2

Winter's Promise

Rate this book
Ember “Emmy” Kenston was raised in the spotlight when all she wanted was to be invisible. A self-proclaimed book nerd, she must live up to the expectations of being the daughter of one of Hollywood’s biggest actresses. Retreating to Archibald Reynolds College gives her a fresh start where she attends classes and happily spends her evenings in the library trying not to be noticed, but Chad notices anyway.

Chad is a squirrel shifter and the only non-canine in the D.O.G. House. He's totally gorgeous, in the warmer seasons at least, and has made quite the name for himself around campus. Most of the school year he has girls throwing themselves at him, but he's seen how his brothers are with their true mates, and wants nothing less than to be loved for who he is, not for his summer body. As long as she's a squirrel of course.

Longing for a mate in no way prepares him for the moment when he first hears her inside his head. The problem is, Ember doesn't know what's happening. And worse, Chad's biggest fear is realised...her animal spirit is not a squirrel.

Can Chad push past his prejudices and accept her as his mate? Or will he turn away from his one true mate forever? That is, if he can even catch her when she freaks out and runs as fast as she can in the opposite direction.

**********Contains Spoilers**********

I really enjoyed this book. I loved the connection between Ember and Chad and thought they were perfect together. I don’t blame Ember for freaking out when hearing a random voice in her head completely out of the blue because she had no idea what was happening since her adoptive parents are human, she needed time on a few occasions throughout their courtship when she was completely overwhelmed to just step back and collect her thoughts and it was awesome that even when it was upsetting Chad he still just wanted to know if she was alright. I thought it was cool how open Ember was when talking to her parents about Chad and that he’s her true mate. I loved how supportive Chad’s D.O.G brothers are of him. I’m glad Chad got his story told as I’ve been interested in him from book 1 and him being a lone squirrel in a fraternity of 98% canine. Matt was the lone jag in their house before he lost his life fighting for Chase and Jenna’s mixed species true mate bond. Man. Emmy had to put up with so much sh*t from her obnoxious b*tch of a room mate Magenta and all I can say is karma’s a b*tch. I’m looking forward to reading Brett’s story next. I’d recommend this book, series, Westin World Universe and author to everyone.

Winter's Promise de Julie Trettel
serie ARC Shifters libro 2

Argumento:

Y él no quiere decepcionarla.

Chad y Ember eran lindos juntos.

Squirrel y....

Chad is really down and out, who is he going to chatter up and annoy with his chip hoarding now? First Chase found his mate Jenna and left, now Damon found Karis and he's gone too, what's a squirrel to do? He has a love em' and leave em' reputation he can't even live up to at the college and has no hopes of ever finding a true mate, he's going to have to settle for his moms choice as long as she is a squirrel But when he hears something in his head and that's how squirrels know their true mates, he finds it hard to reconcile since there aren't any squirrel shifters on the campus. And anything but is out of the question, when he meets Ember he realizes what the other guys have been trying to get through his thick head. Doesn't matter what species when you bump into your true mate and she is anything but? Will Chad accept Ember and say to heck with mom, or will he lose the only chance he will ever have to have a true mate?

Omg! “Winter’s Promise” is the 2nd fabulous addition to the new PNR series the ‘ARC Shifters’ :) Loosely connected to the amazing Westin Pack & Collier Pack books, but doesn't have to be read in order, tho I’m glad I've been able to! Always a fresh, unique plot with well-defined characters that spring to life, some new & some recurring with entertaining witty dialogue! ... A sweet shifter romance with some heat and suspense, plus surprises that had me hooked from the start & glued to my seat! I know readers will be engaged & turning pages, too! Even tho I always volunteer to beta read this author’s books in advance (coz I hate waiting in between :o lol) these are my honest feelings & I’ve already preordered my own Kindle book to keep. I highly recommend this must read & all of Ms. Trettel’s works to adult fans of fiction :D

Yes!!! Chad's story rocked!! I loved Ember and watching their angsty romance flow along was such fun!! Chad has long been a reader favorite with all of his adorably cuddly and heroic ways. I was just so excited to begin his story. Ms. Trettel gave us an incredibly entertaining and enthusiastic shifter romance. It was wonderful to get to learn more about Ember and watch all of those beautifully brilliant plot points and details all come together from her past books!! I loved the smooth continuation of explanations and revisiting prior scenes and friends. This is one of my favorites from Ms. Trettel. She absolutely gifted us exactly the book for Chad that we didn't even know we wanted!!! It was beyond anything I would've hoped for. The details were perfect and this will make you fall in love with Chad even more 💗💗💗

A great book & series

I have really enjoyed reading this authors work, and this series has been no exception. I was thrilled to see that Chad got his HEA, and with an awesome mate in Ember. I'm really looking forward to reading more of this series, and can't wait to see where it goes from here.
I would highly recommend that you read the Westin Pack and Collier Pack series prior to beginning this one. It's not necessary, but it will give you a better understanding of the characters, families, friends, connections, the different packs, and the dynamics between them. They're all fantastic stories, and you won't be disappointed.
I would definitely recommend this book, series, and outstanding author.

Hands down, a very humorous story centered around Chad the squirrel shifter at Archibald Reynolds College. He knew what his mother expected and he knew he couldn't disappoint her, but sometimes things just seem to get tangled up and everything inside get twisted in knots. How would you handle it if your one true mate was not as you expected and everything you expected? It is a refreshingly cute story about what ensues. But don't take my word for it, get your own copy and get prepared for more than a few chuckles and a handful of surprises, too!

This is a sweet romantic story about Chad and his mate Ember. Chads reputation has become larger than life at the ARC but he wants more than rumours he wants a mate. Ember wants a college experience without the fame her mother brings everywhere she goes, but what happens when you hear your true mate in your head and have no idea what’s happening? Love this read, story, plot, and the characters are great. Really enjoyed the romantic scenes, very sweet love scenes, I love when previous characters return. Some angst but overall a great read.

lives Up to Expectations

The Squirrel finds his mate! And what a pair they are. Sweet, introverted Emma who happens to the the adopted daughter of a Hollywood starlet didn’t grow up knowing she was a shifter. She was raised by humans. None of that stops Chad from recognizing his one true mate, but getting her to accept him is a grand chase!

I’m loving the first two books of the series and will be diving into the next one immediately! Love discovering a new to me author with a series all ready to sink my teeth into;)! Enjoy!

Leave the path you have taken to embark on a new - common - path.
- Easier said than done when both heroes are literally creatures of habit. But a one true mate bond can also work its wonders here.

This was my first squirrel shifter love story and at times I couldn't stop laughing. These two are so cute. Here, too, the story is rather quiet and the drama is more on the sidelines to brighten up the story. But that fitted very well here. I like that the focus is on strengthening the mate bond. The initial uncertainty and new feelings... - It was implemented really well here.

Squirrel shifter Chad’s lamenting his luck with roommates, first Chase found his true mate, then Damian. Though association made Chad popular with an envious but undeserved reputation with the females on campus. Chad didn’t argue it but he was saving himself for his mate, one who had to be squirrel to gain his mother’s acceptance. But cute bookworm Ember ‘Emmy’ Kenston is putting that to the test along with ties that could benefit or harm their new relationship

Good book

I enjoyed this book and can see me reading it again. This book did a great job showing how Chad & Ember’s relationship developed and grew. It gave me a better sense of the couple and I felt more connected with them than I did in the previous few books. A bit more development with the Vangari group. No angst & some funny moments. Chad is sweet. Ember is very cool and I like how she’s an introverted nerd but still confident in herself.

Squirrel!!!

I adore reading Julie’s shifter books, and it makes a lovely change to see the squirrels getting their 50c in! Lol.

Loved the story and was so pleased they accepted the fact they were fated! Too many have fought it, so to see these pair taking their time, it was sweet.

I feel these two will have some big roles in the upcoming books and I can’t wait!

This book is just as awesome as all the others ive read. Doesn't matter which series..they are so arresting and the characters are amazing. Chad Finding his true mate at collage and Emmy not understanding what is going on because she was raised by humans. They have circumstances to overcome but in true mate fashion have a hea! Must read!

Fun and well written. The characters unique and believable.

I love the author's take on shifters and the world they live in. Mating and true love with a reasonable premise without devolving into a vehicle for XXX writing. A paranormal book you can give to your daughter or mother without high school level writing.

It was ok

This story was a little slow, it was still good and a nice change. A lot of series have a build up to some fight scene and this was a little different. Main focus was on the fact that both shifters were kind of loners and a lot smaller thn the usual shifter stories lol but I liked it

Daughter to a famous movie star, Ember Kenston is a shifter adopted and raised by humans. Using the ARC as a new start she hides her true identity choosing to be a book nerd and recluse, spending her days in the library to keep away from her awful roommate. That is until she stumbles across her true mate, Chad. A member of the well known D.O.G fraternity Chad is not a wolf but a squirrel with a fun loving personality who all of a sudden finds himself chasing after his true mate. When squirrels find their true mates they can then hear each other and talk to each other in their heads. Ember not knowing how true mates work, having been raised by humans, runs from Chad. Chad not knowing if his true mate is also a squirrel is torn between finding her and hoping his mother will approve. A super cute and funny read, making me laugh out loud and love the ARC Shifter series even more.

Story is out of sequence

I've enjoyed many of the other books in her shifter universe, but the one was just off. It's listed as the second in the series but it takes place before the first book in the series. I also found the characters shallow. My advice is just skip this one.

Oh I loved this one. Chad has always been a special character and getting to seek him find his true mate was heartwarming. I loved Ember just as much. Both of them had issues with their pasts and coming together was just beautiful. It had its ups and downs but wrapped up perfectly.
