This was a glorious series. In the afterword to this volume, the author revealed an utter fascination for forbidden romances, and this series was a love letter to such.

This series would eventually get better once it moved on from the initial story arc, the new step-siblings butting in on Hina's relationship with a married man was a lot of cringe, even though their intentions were relatively good. When that's ended, it's going to be great. The ending would be polarizing, but the meat of the series would too good to put down, It's going to suck you right in like a soap opera.

This English translation left a lot to be desired. The colored chapter was left uncolored and looked a lot more unfinished than the Japanese digital versions.

Glorious trash sums this book up. It’s like a soap opera car wreck and just impossible to convey the insanity. It goes every place you think it might not with maybe one exception. If the description on the back sounds too lurid, go with that instinct because the author scoffs at anything being taboo (we’ll see if it hits ‘bridge too far’ territory in later volumes).

And despite all that, it still has heart in some places. It’s a weird one, but I cannot deny that I was entertained.

The Japanese version of the digital release kept the color pages which puts it leagues ahead of the English translation with the scratchy resolution.

Ok how you explain this shit... I'll try

It kicks off when our main chad(Natsuo) wanting to confess his feelings to his hot young highschool teacher(Hina) and he cant say shit because in the end of the day she will always think of him as a kid which is very logical in her perspective because she's a school teacher and teacher's shouldn't think on f*ck*ng students specially on the place she's working on. After school our chad goes out with his friends and meet some other girls in other school. For some apparent reason he got bored and one of the chick got bored too and suddenly the girl(Rui) ask him to sneak out of him.

and they go to her house
.
.
and she ask
description

They did it.

he felt guilty whhhhhhhhyyyyy bro?

and on the next day he wanted to try confessing stuff on the teacher and still.....
description

After that his dad said that his gonna re-marry and our chad being a chad he his said his totally ok with this and the dad introduce our chad to the woman his gonna marry and her family.

description
description

and all this stuff happens on a single chapter.

The thing about this manga that you know shit gonna went down and the story is basically a dumpster waiting to get lit by a kid with a single match stick. But still your(me) morbidly curious for what's gonna happen next. And here I am 1 volume done and looking forward to read more.

Domestic Girlfriend, Vol. 1 (My Kindle Review)

In this saucy manga, we center on single high schooler Natsuo who just recently has a one-time fling with one of his peers, the rather cold and anti-social Rui, and he can’t seem to get it off his mind. Meanwhile, he already has a huge crush on his teacher, bubbly and cheerful Hina who’s real popular with the male students. A very big surprise for him comes when his single dad announces that he’s about to marry a divorced woman with two daughters. When he finally meets the beautiful woman, he gets a real shock when her daughters are his teacher and his classmate. Now all living together in their new home, Natsuo will experience some awkward and suggestive situations with the two girls in his already complicated life.

For an adult rom-com manga, it’s a very humorous one with ecchi moments and unexpected surprises.
There is a good story in here that can get a bit cliche at times. For it’s love triangle for now, it’s a pretty feisty one that’s very energetic and spicy with a caliente cliffhanger. It’s a saucy guilty pleasure that I hope will get sweeter soon. A- (91%/Excellent)

Guide for getting into sticky situations with stepsisters. Natsuo is an average student who is in love with his teacher but needs to give up on her because she has a boyfriend. So to get over her he goes to a mixer with his friends. He meets this strange and moody girl Rui and he sleeps with her. Both are losing virginity but bum something happened. No, she didn't get pregnant and I don't think he has protection . Their parents are getting married so they are moving together. Did I forget to mention his teacher Hina who he has a huge crush is his new stepsister too. Like I side Guide for getting into sticky situations with stepsisters. On oldest sister, he has a crush and with a younger sister, he lost his virginity. Got to love family drama.

Horrible ending. Don’t waste your time reading the ending. Stop at about chapter 200. Character progression at the ending was a waste and shit. Ending was illogical unrealistic unreasonable (somewhat barbaric). Spoiler: why make rui have a baby and not have the balls to take full responsibility of rui and the baby. Why beg for their parents approval of rui and nastu if it’s just gonna end like this. That’s just guilt not love. I’m much more a fan of hina but shame on her character. She’s the one who broke natduo and rui’s family. She’s the ‘martyr’ btch who cannot move on. Why did the write even did that to her. The writer made her like that. And that is just so fucked up. Even for natuso. Fckng cannot make his mind up. Cant take responsibility for what he’s doing. No shame or regret for all he’s done. Should have felt him alone with no one. No rui no hina. I wasted so much time investing on this manga with just a horrible ending.

Well this first volume certainly makes me want to keep reading. I want to know where this trainwreck goes. It's not necessarily "good", but it is entertaining.

I've got it bad, so bad. I'm hot for teacher. --Van Halen

Starting off with the aftermath of a sex scene is something I didn't expect for sure. For those that are squeamish about mature themes such as casual sex, forcing kisses on others, and cheating in relationships or about breast being drawn in manga then this series might not be a good match for you.

Natsuo Fujii is a typical boy who is a little awkward and he has a secret. You see he has a crush on his teacher Hina but the metaphysical barrier between student and teacher will forever keep him away from her in any romantic way so he takes whatever he can by her company. If that is not enough when goes to a mixer put together by his friends he gets invited by a girl named Rui to have casual sex with her so he accepts partially to give up on his crush and yet to prove he is more adult then she might believe. However his life is going to get a whole lot more complicated as it turns out fate will bring the three together unexpectedly under one roof. It is going to get hot in here.

What would you do if the girl you had sex with, and your crush/teacher suddenly live with you, as your step-sisters?

After watching the first episode and kind of being bored + also wondering what the hell I was watching, someone recommended that I read the manga, as it was much better. So here I am, trying this one out. I have to say, kudos to the anime it follows the manga quite closely, sure there are some parts that are left out, but mostly it is quite the same. Interesting.

I am not too sure how I feel about the guy. He is a bit stronger in the manga, but still a bit of a wimp, sorry but not sorry. He really needs to man up and decide what he wants to do. I also don't know how I feel about his new step-sisters (one of them he had sex with before they became a family, the other is his teacher and crush). I cannot read Rui at all. On the one hand she is acting all cold as ice, but then she invites him in the bath. She does have a sweet side hidden somewhere, but still the interactions between Rui and Natsuo are just way too uncomfortable and weird. I also don't like how Hina is constantly telling Natsuo that he is just a kid and treating him as such. :| I get that she is his teacher and that the age difference is probably pretty big (I am guessing Natsuo is 16/17 and she is in her twenties), but still, treat him better. Now you just come across as bitchy.

There is a constant tension, and at times something almost happens, but then it is stopped before something actually happens. Which frustrates me to no end. I get that they are now family, but still. Stop building up all that tension and then throw it all away again. Fanservice all around, but eh.
Like with the cliffhanger in this volume. I am pretty sure I know how it will end, and it just frustrates me. Stop toying around.

The art is pretty fabulous though, I quite like the designs of our characters (the girls look cute, and Natsuo looks OK-ish, well if his hair behaves).

Will I continue? Sure, I will give it one more volume, but I am not sure if I can stomach 22+ volumes of this.

Three and a half. I'd rate it a four for a romantic comedy, but I'd feel weird rating it that way after reading 20th Century Boys and Akira. And no romantic comedy manga/anime will top Toradora anyways.

This one is the usual story about a high school boy who has a tremendous crush on a young teacher, but one afternoon he meets a blunt, detached girl from another school who asks him to have sex with her. Afterwards she tells him that the next time they meet, they'll be strangers. The next day, the protagonist's father announces that he's getting remarried. Turns out that not only that girl the protagonist had sex with is his future mother-in-law's daughter, but her sister is the young teacher that the protagonist has a crush on. That's the concept of the whole series. A domestic romantic triangle seasoned with pseudo-incest, if you are into that.

That blunt girl is particularly interesting for how she short-circuits the tropes that tend to arise in this manga genre. Although the young teacher is featured as the protagonist's crush, and thus would have been idealized, she's an unstable drunkard with rather loose morals. The drawings are competent and nice, and they feature plenty of female nudity; somewhat odd, given that the author is a woman. Then again, she is not a westerner.

I got into the manga after I watched the first three episodes of the anime, which adapted very well the first volume and a bit more.

This Romance/Slice of life manga is a real page turner once you finish reading the first page you can’t stop turning pages. Whoever is reading is curious who the girl was who the boy was and what relationship they’ll have and as the unexpected events evolve into a dream and a nightmare at the same type as their relationship becomes more and more intriguing and complicated as the chapters pass.

Why did you read this book?
I got this manga on sale and I heard it was a popular series.

What format did you read this book in?
Read it as an eBook on Kindle.

Is this an educational book or a book for entertainment?
I read this book for pure entertainment purposes.

What genres do you think this book belongs to?

Contemporary, Fiction, Manga, Romance

What was your favorite part of the book?
I think my favorite scene was the one at the end. Where both of his stepsister get great sleep on their vacation but he doesn’t because they used him as a pillow.

Who would you suggest this book to?
I think anyone who likes romantic drama oriented towards men will like this story.

What style of graphic novel is this?
It’s in the Japanese manga style (you need to read the book from right to left).

Is the comic colored, or is it in black and white?
This comic is in a B&W tone.

What is your opinion on the artwork?
The artwork was really well done. The characters and backgrounds were dynamic and expressive.

How is the typesetting? Is the comic easy to read?
The fonts were great, and it was easy to read.

Is this comic a part of a series?
Yes, and I would have continued if I was into dramas. (Unfortunately, I don’t like too much drama in my stories.)

What is your general opinion/ rating of this book?
Well, I can see why it was popular. It was well-written and full of angst. This story is about a high schooler who fell in love with his teacher. The teacher is in love with a married man. The young woman with whom the MC slept and his crush became his stepsisters. This reminds me of a soap opera if they were oriented towards men. Honestly, I feel bad for the kid. You can’t help who you love. But I want to tell him, “You can’t fix her.” Seriously, the teacher was a piece of work, and I really hope he gets with the other girl. Overall, it’s a good book, but it's not my cup of tea.

Any trigger warnings?
Sexual Content: Explicit Sex Scene, Nudeness, Dubious Consent
Other: Adultery

Wow. This is a hot mess of a story but it’s so entertaining that I think I’ll be going through all 28 volumes very quickly. I have so many questions....

Potential spoilers below...

In a nutshell this a story about a boy that has a crush on his teacher, sleeps with a girl that doesn’t want to be a virgin anymore and wants to fit in their friend group and both end up to be his step-sisters! His father announces all of a sudden that he’s marrying the mum and he buys a bargain of a house even though they’ve been renting their previous property.... The teacher - Hina - questionably still lives with her mother and sister and constantly refers to herself as an adult - no clue as to how old the characters are meant to be in, but the whole situation is so bizarre. Our main character is constantly lusting over both Rui (the younger sister/ girl he slept with) and Hina and when they all start living together things get even messier - I read the author’s afterword and watched a recent interview of hers - she said she loves dramas and stories about forbidden love. This particular story is super inappropriate on so many levels but I will give her that - it’s very entertaining, l also quite like how the manga is illustrated and will definitely be reading till the end...

My opinion on the entire manga: Beautiful art, consistent character portrayals, ridiculously dramatic soap opera-esque story.
The story revolves around teenage Natsuo, a mild-mannered, aspiring writer, and begins with Natsuo’s father getting remarried to a women with two daughters, one the same age as Natsuo, Rui, and one in her twenties, Hina.
The main plot line is Natsuo’s romantic entanglements with his two stepsisters. The story encounters your basic jealously, clandestine meet-ups, and young adult angst. As the story progresses so does the drama and the sometimes far-fetched, eye-rolling plot points (there’s a teacher/student relationship, a stalker, a rage induced car-accident, and a coma 🙄)
I can say the story definitely doesn’t follow a predictable tract, and it can be enjoyable as long as you’re willing to forgive the sometimes completely over-the-top melodrama.

This series is fantastic within the romcom genre, just ridiculous good fun. I felt like I was constantly laughing it loud. It seemed to so perfectly capture those awkward adolescent moments, combined with the heartbreak, jealousy, and overall challenges of trying to discover your dreams and what you want to do with your life.

Natsuo (the MC) is very likeable, the ships are great, and the unrequited love club is everything. The series begins as light-hearted fun, then works its way into more serious topics as the characters get older and the story progresses (while still maintaining a good couple ‘for fun’ chapters to give the reader a good laugh). Can’t wait to see where the rest of the story goes!

I’ve never really read a romance anime or a romance novel at all. I stumbled onto this mangas anime series and watched the first season. Afterwards I presided to read the whole series in a little over 18 hrs. It has some of the best twists that you even see coming 2 minutes before hand but yet hope that your wrong, the character development and setting are well refined into a art form I have yet to feel from a manga. There were many moments that I feel anyone could stop and apply there own life to and understand each characters feeling and actions throughout. The ending was a giant bomb shell and had me to tears even though you knew and hoped it would turn around you kept going to hope that your right. 5/5 I would recommend to anyone

Oh dear, did I just read this? Yes! Is it trash? Yes! Do I recommend it? Only if you can read this while not taking it too seriously. Did I enjoy it? Absolutely 😂

I guess this is my new guilty pleasure. I watched the anime the other day and wanted to know the unfolding. I have to admit, this feels like those Spanish telenovelas I used to watch with my granny as a kid.

But the art is lovely, I like Rui (and Natsuo when he's not being stupid) and the humor is pretty funny some times.

Warning though, this manga is pretty ecchi, so if that's not your cup, don't start it

I wonder why guyz are trash talking Kei Sasuga for this wonderful work of art. Personally I think the manga worked out well for me.The problem with people trash talking this manga is coz they were to lazy to understand the character development which we grew to see in every chapter and the had work the author put in it. So congrats to Kei Sasuga for this master piece and hopefully we'll get to see more of her work in the future.

A very confusing and intriguing romance drama. Can’t wait to read book 2!
My library has this stated as general audience. I vote it be in the mature section or young adult. Women’s breasts are seen often. An adult woman massages her underage sister’s breasts “so they can grow.”
So just a heads up to the parents out there.
I enjoyed the book. But I wouldn’t want my young teen or younger reading this.

So far so good! The fan service can be a bit much but given the protagonist is a guy in his teens it doesn’t feel too egregious yet, thought that may also just be that the central story is such a good idea for one of these things that I’m willing to give it a chance. There’s a very fun, heartwarming version of this story and a very meh fan service heavy version with no plot or characterization, and so far it’s straddling the line. We’ll see if I go the distance on it.
